Report: Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson has another run-in with police (UPDATE)

From TMZ.com:
"Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has been picked up by police again. Sources say last night an Irvine police car was waved down by people near the place Rampage was staying who said he was acting weird. This, of course, following the insane chase the day before in which the UFC fighter hit several cars in his monster truck and was arrested at gunpoint. We're told Irvine cops saw Rampage, deemed him a danger to himself and others, and took him to a hospital for observation. Cops won't officially confirm if it's a psychiatric hold."
More on this developing story shortly -- MMAmania.com will attempt to confirm whether or not it is indeed accurate. For more on Rampage and his recent troubles click here, here and here.
UPDATE: This is from Lt. Rick Handfield of the Irvine Police Department via MMAWeekly.com on the most recent situation:
"We did go out to the residence where he was staying at 4:31 p.m. PT (on Wednesday in the city of Irvine, Calif.). We were asked to assist with him and make sure that he was safe and not a danger to himself or others. He was exhibiting some unusual behavior that his friends that were there felt concerned.... At the conclusion of our contact, we did detain him and take him to be seen by mental health professionals. We left him with the mental health professionals."
It's apparent that Rampage is having a really tough time right now. Let's hope he gets the treatment and attention he needs during this time to get back on track.

I dont really care too much about this event. Just a bunch of lopsided fights and the odds reflect that.
.
besides Fedor/Sylvia, which fight on affliction isn’t lop sided? I will be buying it, but all the favorites will easily win. the two main events are the only competitive fights on these two cards, and maybe VERA!
I realize you’re a huge fedor fan john, as am I, but to not see the lopsided event that affliction is putting on, and to call out the UFC is wrong. They are both going to be good, and affliction has “bigger” names, but HW’s are usually boring!
yes I was talking the gangas kon video “who is fedor emelienko” it was great!!!

FFS, why do some people always go off topic? Stay on topic with the thread or dont post anything at all.
I just hope Rampage can get back on track for a NYE fight with Wandy.

Poor choice of words! Not to knock UFN, but those fights dont come close to making ME not order Affliction. If we are being completely Honest, 70% of my anticipation/excitement is towards Affliction, 20% for DREAM and 10% for UFN. Afflictions fights mean a whole lot in the heavyweight division… The UFN fights have a chance of being great but they dont mean a whole lot.
Silva vs. Irvin: if Silva wins, it wont matter because Irvin is really a nobody in the LHW division anyway. He is what he is an entertaining Muy tai fighter with a punchers chance. If Silva loose, he already said he wont continue to fight at LHW, he will still be middleweight champion and considered an unstoppable middleweight fighter…so this fight just doesnt matter much to me….Do I think it will be an excitring fight, ABSOLUTELY…I am just trying to say that in my eyes, what Affliction is doing is really BIG, and I wouldnt miss it for the world

By the way, I just found out that Aleksander Emeilenenko is signed to Affliction for a 3 fight contract!

Aleks’s thoughts On Kimbo:
Emelianenko: In reality, as a fighter, as a fighter he’s weak. For me anyway. My promoter [Vadim Finkelshtein] suggested this fight to his promoters, that I go there and fight Kimbo. And they’re not taking the fight. They realize that for me he’s too weak.
I won’t be fighting with him, playing with him. I’ll go there and tear him apart, bite him in two. Exactly like it was with me and [James] Thompson, whom it took almost three rounds for Kimbo to put away. No. He’s to be congratulated on one hand, though. …
What does he need? For people to know about him. For people to have seen him. Everyone earns money anyway they can these days. He’s not a fighter, he’s not a sportsman. I’d say he’s more like a showman. I can say this about him.
As a sportsman he’s very one-dimensional. Hands? Is that all? These days everyone can use their hands. When fighters at a decent level compete, you won’t understand who he was before. A boxer or a wrestler. …
by john on Jul 17, 2008 1:55 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Aleks continued…
On whether there are losses he would like to avenge:
Emelianenko: Yes, yes there are. But all those people at this point in time … . We offered for me to fight Barnett now, and they don’t want to. We were sitting down together, and I said let’s fight. And he said I don’t want to fight you, you’re an insane fighter.
Last time when we fought I was ill. I’ll explain. I came out to fight with a temperature. I had a temperature of 98.6. The doctors didn’t want to let me fight. In my life, the grand prix was by far the most important competition. And I had to fight, was obligated to fight. And they didn’t want to let me go into the ring. And so the organizers were called, and that’s why I tried to beat Barnett early, and then couldn’t and lost by submission.
Everyone thinks that I showed a good, beautiful fight. And that I beat and beat him. And now he refuses to fight me. Or is asking for crazy money to do it. And of course the organizers think that Barnett isn’t worth that kind of money. Why pay him such money? So that he can lose? And he himself, knows perfectly well that he’d lose. And so that’s why he is refusing to fight me.
Cro Cop isn’t even communicating with us. His form is evident in his last few fights. His time has gone. People have learned to read him too well. Really, he is now exactly like he was in the past. He was gathering experience but not at a high level. The Japanese were feeding him Japanese fighters. I think that in my whole career of fighting in Japan, I didn’t fight a single Japanese fighter. Why? Because I’d have less chance to be their champion. They constantly gave me fighters who were better and better. Cro Cop, on the other hand, they led him and led him.
When I fought him, I’ll explain, I was 23 years old. I was very young; it was the fourth fight of my life. But I had to fight him, I had to. And Cro Cop didn’t know which corner of the ring to run to, to hide in. And I was young and inexperienced. And so it happened the way it happened, but now I’m ready. I’m ready to fight with him tomorrow. With Cro Cop and then with Barnett.

Something must have been lost in translation, cuz last I checked, a temp of 98.6 isn’t too bad. lmao. I simply don’t like this guy, and think he is a bit of a douche. He’s acting as if all these pro fighters are afraid of him. Maybe they are. Cuz if they whip his @ss, he might get his big brother to beat them up for him. Not that I think it will happen, but….WAR Buentello!

I honestly think that many fighters are afraid, poor choice of words, reluctant to fight him! He is a crazy Mofo! He is an animal. Talk about potential, this dude has all the tools in the world to be the greatest, I really mean that. Weather he puts it all together or not remains to be seen. This dude is Nasty and out of his mind! He was NOT lying about the cro cop fight. Cro Cop was getting thrown around like a rag doll, running around like Kaliob Starnes, until he threw that lucky high kick up….aleks was only 23, thats very impressive fight out of a 23 year old kid, even in a loss
I dont know how good he will be, but I am telling you skies the limit for Aleks, he just has to work at it!
The interview also talks about how he went Hunting for Bears and he killed one with a knife. He is just a MONSTER, he scares me through the computer screen! lol
He said he would Bit Kimbo in half! I would love it! YOu know, once his management asked Gary Shaw to fight Kimbo, Gary must have shit his pants, like what r u nutts? Kimbo vs. Aleks would be the funniest thing EVER, Kimbo would be seriously HURT!

I believe Forrest probably rattled his head a bit. When a guy you expect to blow through beats you its a hard experience to take. GSP just had family issues before he faced Serra and got dominated and you could tell he took it hard, he didn’t quite seem the same. He came back though and we can hope the same for Rampage. Although I do think that joke was funny as well, its just a joke after all mang

I agree. Here is my problem with it. I work 12 hour shifts in a factory and get by with a little bit extra. If I do what he did I am in jail and maybe even lose my job. I am sick of not just Rampage but all of the elite just getting off. Boo hoo I am rich and famous but got beat and now I am going to do stupid stuff for attention or whatever. How about Chuck? He lost his belt by KO to Page then got beat by Jardine. He did nothing but train his ass off and beat Wandi many months later. It’s not all of them but it’s alot of them. I like to watch him fight but if I don’t evr get to see him fight again I will still be able to sleep at night. I might be scared driving in LA but overall I’ll be okay.

He just lost a controversial decision and can’t handle it. That said, he did gain a lot of weight during his long lay off. Sounds depressed to me. Maybe he’s on something. For those of you not hip with the law, once you’re out on bail, you are not allowed to get into any more trouble, or bail is usually revoked. Lets hope that he was picked up and placed in protective custody and not arrested. He may be a risk to himself!

I’d say it’s more for his benefit than him actually getting arrested
“We’re told Irvine cops saw Rampage, deemed him a danger to himself and others, and took him to a hospital for observation.”

One side effect of Roids can be depression, I wouldn’t think Rampage would have been on them but at this point who knows whats goin on.
by O damn he got caught on Jul 17, 2008 12:28 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Actually, depression is usually a side effect of coming off of steroids, many times incorrectly. When you are using a sythetic form of testosterone, your body shuts down the natural production of testosterone. If you do not taper yourself off of the drugs, and do not use drugs such as clomid and hcg to lower estrogen levels and increase your natural production of testosterone, you will basically have the testosterone level of a 10 year old girl. Basically, it is not the actual use of the steroid that causes the depression, but the feeling of going from superman back to Clark Kent.
by naturalshadow on Jul 18, 2008 2:32 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Oh, and I don’t think steroids played a role in this. haha. It could be a chemical imbalance, but there are a lot of things going on right now that could easily cause him to have a break down. He could even be using recreational drugs. It is hard to tell right now, but it is definately a very weird situation. I hope he can recover.

doesn’t sound as if any charges have been filed in this case so bail is not revoked and as long the medical staff feels he is not a threat, he will be released. i’m sure there is more to come

it doesnt take roids for people to get depressed! rampage was obviously not taking em judging by how fat he was!if he was taking steroids and got that fat his cholesterol level would be very high and he would have been a heart attack risk! you cannot go 5 rounds with that much cholesterol in your system! i would say it has more to do with falling from grace and just taking it hard and having a breakdown! he needs to go to rehab right now! look how bad chuck was before the rampage fight messing with cocaine! and he was even down after the fight! looked a shadow of himself against jardine! sometimes falling from grace hits you hard! rampage will be back i believe in him

Actually, I know more about this subject than I care to. It depends on state statues and law. For example, in Texas, even with a judge’s order you can only be held in a mental facility for 72 hours. Outside, of that you need to be deemed a ward of the state. Again, every state is different and I don’t know California’s laws.

I’m pretty sure he’s reached a point where he can no longer help himself, and that’s when people you’re closest to are supposed to step in and intervene. He’s mentally sick right now, which can be just as bad or worse as physical sickness. Would a doctor refuse to treat a person who’s not a “little kid”? No. So your point has no validity.

by Jason on Jul 17, 2008 1:23 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I also have to agree with Pat. I guess at least this incident sheds some light on what prompted him to flee the scene of an accident. It sounds like Rampage may have been suffering from depression even before the fight with Forest. Regular physical exercise (and the subsequent release of endorphines) is typicially one of the best treatments for depression, and he made it sound like he’s been slacking off for the better part of a year. It’s hard to speculate from here though, he may even be bi-polar, I just hope he’s getting the treatment he needs.

I reread my comment and I’m not a total arse hole, deep down I do feel for him, but damn to have so much and piss it away. Reminds me of some these young NBA or NFL players but they’re young and dumb.

I feel bad for him, but I REALLY feel bad for his kids. You’ve never really seen them with him so, at this time, I’m hoping they don’t live him and are having to deal with this.

Maybe now BIll O’Reilly and the other MMA know-nothings will see the boxing is the more brutal and injury-prone sport.

I was watchin the interview of Page the day before he got arrested and thot it was kind of odd how he was sayin how GOD will be his trainer and manager… it kinda made me think, does anyone know what Janito Ibbarra(spellin?)and Rampages relationship is like after the Griffin fight?? is it a possibility that they rn’t workin together anymore and this could have contributed to Rampages mental state??

I know it’s not funny, but this came to mind(it kinda is funny) someone should make a video like that little queer did about Brittany and put it on youtube… "LEAVE RAMPAGE ALONE!!!!"
seriously though, get well Quinton…

I agree. In a twisted sort of way, it is sometimes good when these things happen to high profile figures. If others out there, like young kids, etc, are suffering from the same sort of thing, they might not feel so alone in their struggle. You know? Like a young kid might suffer from a mental illness, and then he sees that someone like Rampage struggles with it as well, and it gives him courage to go on. At any rate, my heart goes out to Rampage. He’s a warrior, he’ll get through this. People might love him more for it.

I’m not gonna speculate, but Rampage is my favorite fighter, and there’s obviously some deep rooted issues. I’m hoping he can pull hisself together.

WHAT DID I SAY! He was as messed up as Michael Jackson in that video interview talking about god every 2 seconds like some depressed man. I heard him say “I am Peter pan”

If he didn’t rubbish Griffins chances of winning maybe it wouldnt of been such a shock to him! he was way to cocky and arrogant before the fight! why doesnt Dana give Rampage a fight at UFC 89 or 90? but maybe he only wants a rematch and Dana wants him to fight the axe murderer so thats why he is depressed!
by Tony on Jul 17, 2008 1:23 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
If he was on drugs during the first arrest I wouldn’t be surprised if him and his buddies staged the 2nd incident so that he can say it was something mental and avoid jail time.
by AJ on Jul 17, 2008 1:40 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
HE WAS SCREENED FOR DRUGS AND ALCOHOL, BOTH NEG! IF HE WOULD HAVE BEEN ON $HIT THEN THE BAIL WOULD HAVE BEEN HIGHER THAN $25,000. LOOK @ THE WHITES OF HIS EYES. MOST SKITZOS SHOW MORE WHITE THAN THE AVERAGE PERSON. HE NEEDS MENTAL CARE NOT JAIL TIME LIKE THE PUNK (LANCELEGWEAK)SAID A BUNCH OF TREADS BACK. 10-15 YEARS, WHAT AN A$$!!!

Again, my guess is a disorder, like bipolar OR thyroid disorder, he’s either off his medication or never been diagnosed for proper medication. I’m glad he is under psychiatric treatment.

My wife has had serious psychiatric problems before and I’m really worried about Rampage. It sounds like he’s got alot of problems that came together to push him over the edge. I saw an interview with him on TMZ the day before he got arrested and he sounded very depressed and detached. He also sounded like he might have been on something. I can’t believe he was picked up again so soon after getting out but at least he’s being watched so hopefully we won’t hear about him taking his own life. This really sucks cause he’s a hero to a lot of people and if he can make it past this and possibly bring dome light to serious problems people have and help other people seek treatment before they mess up thier life.

Let’s just hope he has all is friends rally around him for support when he needs them the most. It is just a sad situation but let’s hope it all works out for Rampage and that we will see him back to normal soon.

ive seen this go down in my family .. somtimes people cant take it anymore and they just crack. I lost an aunt and a mother on some psychiatric problem mess.

So, if this turns out to be a real mental issue (which may or may not be better than a subtance problem), how does that affect his ability to fight? More importantly, will any commision even clear him to fight?

Did you read in this interview that Throwdown staffers were at his house and watched the Forrest fight with him for the first time hours before he was arrested.

sounds like assault charges might be added. his fight career might be over if this keeps up.

Hate to say it, but we may have seen the last of Rampage in the UFC. It is one thing to evade, but after a hit-n-run is really bad news. This woman may have a legit claim, but either way, Rampage is going to pay for this one.

Stay up Rampage. Get help where you need it and surround yourself with good people. Spend time with your family.. just get yourself together. There are alot of us who want you to get better.

Sounds like he is having some mental health issues. Once they figure out what is going on they will probably put him on some meds and get him back into a routine in teh gym as that is what he loves and is good at. I certainly hope that his friends worry more about him and less about his public image and get him the help he needs so that in teh end he comes around

I agree with you staples I have said it’s some kind of disorder disorder, like bipolar OR thyroid disorder, he’s either off his medication or never been diagnosed for proper medication. I’m glad he is under psychiatric treatment.
It could be a nervous breakdown, but his mention and attachment to God is a symptom of a mental disorder, not a breakdown.

Attachment to God a mental disorder? What?
by Rubberman on Jul 17, 2008 8:32 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
lol… no attachment to God isn’t a disorder… but often patients that become dellusional have a obssession with spiritual awakening and become profoundly religious… sounds odd, but it’s documented… I have a BA in psy so I know a little about this stuff.

when stuff like this goes on in your life the last thing you want to be thinking is that there is millions of people talking about you on the damn internet …. and t.v and radio
RAMPAGE NEEDS TO DO WHAT DAVE CHAPPELLE DID… TAKE OFF FOR A WHILE. GET YOUR HEAD STRAIGHT AND GET AWAY FROM ALL THE MEDIA. GO TO AFRICA OR SOME TOPICAL ISLAND AND CHILL FOR LIKE 2 MONTHS OR INTILL YOUR READY TO COME BACK.
