So many questions that I bet will never be answered.

I really hope this doesnt affect his mental game, although i dont know how thats not possible…

Good luck Rampage – we’ll be right here when you get back

After watching that Rampage interview, it looks like it’s possible he’s off medication or needs medication for a disorder like Bipolar OR it could be a thyroid problem.

Often times athletes that have these types of disorders go off their medication in order to compete and avoid medication side affects. Sometimes people just go off the medication to avoid side affects period.

Whatever happend it’s really not characteristic of Rampage. I’m sure we’ll find out more soon. Damn’ that whole thing was totally ‘crazy’.

Honestly he sounds a bit geeked. Maybe a weeks or a few days on a coke bender. Could be wrong, more than likely wrong but that is the way he sounds to me. Everything has been pretty hush hush about this and the actual events.

Rampage is always a little off when he speaks, you see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice. Anyway Rampage is the man….Should he get punished absolutely! Should he get the book thrown at him, absolutely not. He made a mistake and I think were we could all see this happening. Imagine being the number 1 fighter in the world, then doing some bullshit for your employer that has you away from what you should be doing, training and fighting, then having your belt/world essestialy stolen from you. It gotta suck, having everything you have worked for taken from you in such a non-eventful way.

I agree, after seeing the interview he seemed a bit spun.

THURSDAY MORNING CONVERSATION WITH KEVIN:
TRYING TO SORT THE RAMPAGE INCIDENT OUT.
I come on this site every day, and it is by far my favorite web site out there. I don’t let it cloud reality though. I read a few interesting things yesterday that I need to address! Someone wrote that Rampage will do no time because he is a celebrity. While he may plead out, and do no time, I hate to break it to you guys, it has nothing to do with celebrity. Main stream america has no clue who this guy is. Don’t get the wool pulled over your eyes and think because the couple hundred (maybe thousand) of us fans no him means the “real world” knows of him. Shaq, Kobe, beckham etc, those are sports stars, rampage unfortunately isn’t.
.
The other one I read was that his money would keep him out of jail. WHAT MONEY? His net worth can’t be more than a million dollars. With all due respect to you younger guys out there, if I won the lotto today for a million, I couldn’t retire. I also read he could “pay these fools 10 grand each”" to go away. Some of you guys need a dose of reality. He was on a side walk, and people were fleeing. They will hire lawyers, and no one will settle for 10k.
,
I’ve been called negative in the past, but I’d rather be called realistic. I’m the biggest mma fan, and wish Rampage the best, but he F’d up…BAD. What will really be interesting, is who the truck is registered to. My dad owns a big construction company, when I was younger I had a company car. As long as I didn’t drink and drive. If that truck is for some reason registered to toyo or the UFC, they would then be liable to anything done in the truck.
.
Lastly, I’m very glad to see Dana showing that he has Rampages back. Flying out to bail him out was a great show of support! I would be very surprised if we saw rampage fight again this year!

Knowinf Dana he will flipped the senario any way he wants..if he feels the UFC can benefit in marketing scheme to get Page/Wandi or Page/shogun again..he will.. and it would by the end of the year.. Like you..I’m Page fan.. since I saw him in pride..and seeing his progression as a person/fighter..it still can’t grasp how much damage he didn’t in losing his belt and then his mind..what is the deal?? Rampage is not a Tiger, Kobe, Beckhamn, but he is well known enough inn sports media..that PTI..gave him some cred.. as long as nobody suffered any injuries..he won’t get the book slammed at him. He’s never to my knowledge been any type of trouble with the law. By Dana doing what he did.. he for sure gets props for that..and that should be a sign that Page will fight for the UFC again. Hopefully by winter.

I am staying off all these threads about Rampage’s personal life. Athletes get crucified by the public for their mistakes, I wont take part in any of that.

I just wish Page the best!

wtf was he thinking??? he deserves jail…i hope he comes back better than ever mentally, but what he did isnt funny.

by texen_1 on Jul 16, 2008 10:21 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think you should wait for more facts before jumping to any conclusions. I agree what has been presented to us deems hefty punishment, But I though it was innocent until proven guilty. Of course I hope rampage can put this behind him quickly and get back in the octagon and whoop some ass!

by Bojo on Jul 16, 2008 10:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He’s from Texas, enough said. JAIL FOR EVERYONE!!

by Rilly on Jul 16, 2008 11:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Tennesee not Texas. Read under the pic.

by Vette on Jul 17, 2008 2:36 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Innocent until proven guilty maybe, but if that wasn’t Rampage in those pictures driving the giant Rampage monster truck, with Rampage pictures on the side of it, then Rampage is really taking it in the ass on this one. haha

by naturalshadow on Jul 17, 2008 2:54 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He means texen_1 not Rampage. Read the first quote.

by UKmmaBOY on Jul 17, 2008 3:51 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

My initial thought is, i hope he doesn’t get any time and fights soon… poor rampage etc.

But you can’t let your love for him as a fighter cloud the fact that he has done something very very bad. Imagine if he had of gone into someone and killed them after jumping a red light or driving on the pavement.

Just because no-one got hurt doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be punished.

If it was some hick who was drunk (i know i’m speculating) and had crashed into YOUR car then went on a chase i bet everyone on here would be calling for jail.

by Nick J on Jul 17, 2008 5:10 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

why isnt he wearing a shirt?

by alex on Jul 16, 2008 10:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think they also take picture of tatoos. It is a fact that police departments document all scars, birth marks, tatoos, any kind of distinguishing mark on your body. Would make sense since Rampage has a few.

They must of pictured his tats then took actual mug shot

by fightfan on Jul 16, 2008 10:52 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The whole thing is still kind of shocking to me. It’s obvious that he wasn’t thinking straight when he decided to flee after an accident, I can’t even begin to imagine why he would do that. I’m guessing with a decent attorney he’ll probably get probation and a suspended license, I just hope he works out whatever it was that prompted him to react like that.

What a scathing reply, truly painful, especially coming from a caps lock ownzor.

I’m surprised that nothing about his mental state (or the reason behind his actions) has been leaked to the press as of yet.

by Muscle Dolphin on Jul 16, 2008 11:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The people I spoke to, from CMPD and other writers, say that there was nothing evident or that raised any red flags.

by Miguel Lopez on Jul 16, 2008 11:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Im suprised this hasnt hit UFC.com.

You think if one of your biggest stars gets arrested you would have that making your front page. But no. Any other sport would.

by Chris on Jul 16, 2008 11:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Why would that surprise you? Their website is used to promote the organization, not to report on the embarrassments.

by Scott on Jul 16, 2008 11:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah the UFC just sweeps under the carpet any problems such as Randy leaving, pathetic really.

by Nick J on Jul 17, 2008 5:11 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

As a fan and a writer for MMA, I hope everything gets cleared up in due time. I am glad that he was cooperative once he was detained. I am glad Dana White showed concern and traveled from Las Vegas to Orange County. But most importantly, I am glad nobody was hurt. It could have been a lot worse.

by Miguel Lopez on Jul 16, 2008 11:38 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Just read on TMZ which is a pretty reliable site actually that after he was booked transported to a hospital because he was medically unfit. It looks like he is a little koo koo. Bummer of a story all around for Page and the UFC.

After watching a lot of different topics on this, I have a feeling that Rampage just screwed up. It does happen. I don’t think anyone needs to make excuses for him or anything, he is human and humans all f up once in a while.

Anyway, maybe we need to stop defending the guy and just say he screwed up. I mean everyone always busts chops and says why does he just man up when he lost? This is the same thing. He needs to step up and say “I fu**** up.” I mean, I’m seeing people going as far as defending him saying that he’s innocent until proven guilty…Regardless of anything, he fleed the police and led them on a chase. There’s not much doubt there.

I just hope that things workout so that we can see Rampage back in the ring. He did seem a little bit off in the interview the day before that was posted on another topic.

by Shadyone33 on Jul 17, 2008 2:58 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

hear hear… or… here here lol. his vehicle was pretty recognizable and he was the only one driving, sounds guilty even though the law has to wait to convict. but yea, ppl eff up. im forrest fan, but rampage looked different in the fight. his mindset is off, you can take that from that interview he had 3 days ago. something about god has got him goin somewhere…

by wingblade on Jul 17, 2008 4:06 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

None of us know how instant celebrity can affect you. Almost all celebs go through a massive identity crisis and they don’t all pull out of it either. Rampage just dealt with seeing his mug on the TV every week and waiting forever to finally get a fight that the entire world was watching for and losing suddenly maybe screwed with his head. Get better Page. If you have to take a time out just do it and find yourself and then come back. I’m totally rooting for you.

by dave on Jul 17, 2008 3:06 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I like ol’ Rampage and hope he keeps his head together and gets another crack at the title. His fight with Forrest could have gone either way and I think the belt should have stayed with him.

by Mamas Boy on Jul 17, 2008 6:18 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I’m not sure what to think of this Rampage incident. There could be more to it than meets the eye and perhaps it’s not as simple as throwing the book at him. Nevertheless, he deserves to be punished. You can dress it up all you like, but he was still at fault. Clearly though, this wasn’t the behaviour of a level-headed person. There had to have been something that triggered this.

I don’t think this can be attributed to his loss to Forrest, because at the end of the day, one loss doesn’t make or break a fighter and Rampage is still deemed as one of the most popular, recognised and talented fighters in MMA today, title or no title. It wouldn’t have been long before he was back in the hunt for the title. After all, he fought Chuck for the title in only his second fight in the Octagon.

I just figure there are deeper issues here because let’s face it Rampage was on the rise. I don’t see why he’d be so stupid to risk losing everything he has worked so hard for. Because although Rampage is well recognised, he is not above the law and I don’t think he would have done this thinking he could get off lightly. He deserves to be punished appropriately as it seems as though he put not only his own but many others’ lives in danger. If he is let off, he’ll never be able to learn from his mistake.

Whatever the outcome, this does nothing to help the image of MMA and has left the UFC with a few hard decisions to make. They have to punish Rampage in some form, otherwise they’ll send out the wrong message about the sport, almost as if they condone their fighters becoming criminals. Although I find this is unlikely as they hardly batted an eye-lid when Leben got into bother.

"[Quinton] was cooperative with us from his arrest to him being released."….Wouldn’t “being cooperative” mean that he stopped after hitting the first car, didn’t flee the scene, pulled over when he saw the cherries in the rear-view mirror, wasn’t weaving in and out of traffic and didn’t try to allude the police??? I guess this all happened BEFORE the arrest and he was quite a gentleman from that point onward. Selective cooperation!?

by Dugout on Jul 17, 2008 8:07 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

he ran off for some reason maybe he’s trying to finish eating up his ounce of mary j or swallowing some coke before pulling himself over. people don’t just run away from cops without reason.

by Ro on Jul 17, 2008 8:18 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The police said he was medically unfit to be booked. And it wasn’t alcohol or drugs, so somethign mentally must be (or been) wrong with him. If it were alcohol or drugs they would have added DUI to the list of charges.

Hopefully everything will turn out ok. Please don’t chastise him just yet until we hear all the facts.

Nothing will justify what he has done, but at least maybe we can gain some understanding as to his frame of mind.

by Pyrenus on Jul 17, 2008 9:39 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I always knew Rampage was crazy….just listen to him talk…I mean really listen. I don’t think hes trying to be funny (he does sometimes) but the dude sounds like hes missing a few screws if you know what I mean. Hes a darn good fighter, hope he can replace the screws and get back to reality.
