Brandon vera is the MOST overrated loser in the ufc roster, he has not beaten anybody- oh- frank mir. ha. I liked him ok before the big tim fight, Then he starts with the excuses, then in the werdum fight, he turtles up and rolls side to side… no but its the reffs fault! What a worthless joke, he has OK stand up, but no ground game. WOW, amazing. He doesn’t cut angles, flat footed, chin in the air. Hell, he doesn’t even set up his kicks.
While I am at it, I am sick of guy’s that supposedly have amazing muay thai, but, if they went back to thai land they would be embarresed by a ten year old. Before any body says it, I know brandon has been to thai land to train, but it doesn’t mean crap.
Soon you people will realize what a treat it is to see real muay thai. there is no secret behind anderson silva, he just uses angles, there will be more fighters like him in the future.

No ground game? Vera is a brown belt under Lloyd Irvin, and thats no easy feet. He’s an 8 time grapplers quest champion and a very high level wrestler. I think most of Brandon’s problems stemed from his size. He was just too small for heavyweight.

That fight sounds like a race to see who can lay on top of who for 8 minutes the fastest.

I can’t beleive it took vera this long to drop down to LHW. He’s walking around at 215, he should have been at LHW since his UFC debut.

Maybe, but the heavyweight division is pretty thin right now, and lhw is completely stacked.

This drop to LHW is long over due! Remember how much better Bisping looked when he finally cut down to middleweight? Expect to see the BEST version of Brandon Vera that we have ever seen, he will be much sharper and quicker at this weight class, and it will show on Saturday!

I really believe that Saturday we will see the best Brandon Vera that we have ever seen. Remember how much better Bisping looked when he finally decided to drop down to middleweight? Well same will happen for Vera. He will be much sharper/quicker….I think the drop in weight will really show on Saturday. I expect to see a Monster performance out of him on Saturday.
He is facing an opponent who is basically a submission wrestler. Vera’s Greco Roman background should enable him to keep the fight standing where he will be at a Huge advantage over Reese because there is no way that Reese’s Muy Tai can match Vera’s…. I will be shocked if Vera doesnt KO this guy!

I agree – it makes no sense. Just look at his body in the previous fights – he could easily shed some weight.

I had high hopes for Vera when I first saw him in the UFC, he was just walking through his opponents. But against tougher competition, he hasn’t looked so good. Mir was overweight and badly out of shape when he fought him and I don’t think Mir was there mentally.
I agree Vera should have been fighting at LHW the whole time, as he’s always looked pretty soft. I think it’s an ego issue with him, he wants to play with the big boys. Brandon needs to stop making excuses. If he doesn’t want the ref to stop it, then don’t get mounted. If he doesn’t want to lose a decision, don’t let it go to the judges. I think he has what it takes to be a champ and his chances look much better at LHW.

Agreed… I can’t wait to see how he looks physcially and how much quicker he will be at 205. There are soooo many good match ups at 205 its crazy.

Yeah I saw that video….As a Philadelphian, I was so happy to see Vai give that meathead a beatdown. Canseco was so much bigger than Vai, but Vai just exploded on him!
Jose is already crying about how he barely trained and wants a rematch!

All you guys that think Vera is to small for HW, must have missed him maul the first 4 BIG DUDES (240-250 lbs) he fought in the ufc. He took Tim down (with a BROKEN hand,no surprise he couldn’t do anything to him). If he’s to small , how come Sylvia didn’t destroy him ,since he only had one good hand. He was doing fine against Werdum, there’s NO WAY a fight should be stopped when the fighter isn’t hurt at all ( guys get mounted ALL THE TIME and you don’t stop the fight until they are getting hurt). I could see him being to small if he was getting beat up, but he looked the same in these 2 fight at the end as he did walking in. He just had some bad luck. Nobody could beat Sylvia with 1 good hand (infact most would get KTFO)and NOBODY can beat a BAD call of a ref like Dan Mirgilotti (don’t care if I spell that losers name right).
