Tell that to Matt Serra and anyone else that bet on him the first time he fought GSP

by TrueMMA on Jul 5, 2008 5:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

GUess what? Last I checked Matt Serra aint stepping inside the cage tonight! Serra actually has Ko power to cause an upset. Only chance Forrest has of pulling out a KO is maybe a perfectly placed kick, MAYBE! Rampage has a jaw like Cabbage!

by john on Jul 5, 2008 6:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

kevin Iole, of yahoo sports is reporting that Koschek is thinking about cutting down to lightweight to challenge BJ Penn.

Makes no sense because Penn has a fight booked with the winner of Huerta/Florian and then he has a date with GSP at welterweight. Kos, BJ only fights the BEST of each division. Only way u get a shot at Penn is to be the best in a division, and u wont be, so end that pipe dream right now!

by john on Jul 5, 2008 8:41 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe he knows that BJ is moving up and thinks that without bj in the LW division he can make some noise and get a title shot (belt being vacant). BJ is the only LW fighter in the UFC that would dominate Kos, the rest he would have a chance against.

by MoonUK on Jul 5, 2008 8:50 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

On a scale of 1-10… 10 being a fight like GSP VS Penn, how excited are you guys for this fight?

by Robert on Jul 5, 2008 9:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

As a match up, I am at about a 5 because I dont see it being competitive. But because Rampage is 1 of my favorite fighters, and I have a nice chunk of change rididng on him, I am at a 10 right now!

Thats what everyone said about the Shogun fight. then when Forrest won everyone wanted to make exuces for Shogun. Get outa here! I hope Forrest proves everyone wrong. AGAIN!!

by TrueMMA on Jul 5, 2008 5:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I have seen ALL Shogun’s pro mma fights, and if you think that was the real shogun who fought Forrest than I should even waste my time arguing with you. Shogun fought to about 25% of his cababilities. Unless Rampage comes to fight tonight with a snapped ACL in 1 knee, not allowing him to train cardio, then Forrest wont win! I will check back on here tomorrow and see what Rock u crawled back under!

by john on Jul 5, 2008 6:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

not to get head oof ourselves, but looking forward to UFC 87, can anyone tell me why in hell is Manny gamburyan vs. RobEmerson making the televised portion of the card? I really dont want to see that fight! TUF match ups have no bussiness on a pay per view.

by john on Jul 5, 2008 10:14 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I know what your saying but I think this will turn out to be a much better fight than Cheick Kongo Vs. Dan Evensen.

Which fight would you put in instead of manny’s? Or are you saying they should have booked a stronger 4/5th fight?

by MoonUK on Jul 5, 2008 10:41 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, book a better fight, or just let me watch Kongo knock Elverson out!

Enough already with match ups between guys from the same season of tUF…its old and they dont belong on pay per views! I could understand if it were on a UFN, but come on man, not on the pay per view.

It wont be a good fight because Manny “the british prostitute” Gamburyan is just going to lay on Emerson for 15 minutes!

I would much rather watch Kongo who is 1 of the best heavweights in the UFC. He got ripped off against Hearing! kongo shoud have been awarded the decision.

What te UFC should have done was not book Gonzaga to fight bumb ass McCully tonight on the undercard that no one is going to see anyway and they should have had:

Kongo vs. Gonzaga next month as the 5th fight on the main card!

everyone who has Forrest winning says that he will only win by decision. where’s the confidence? he’s not going to choke Rampage out or KO him?

i love how everyone is so hesitant when picking Forrest to win…i would be too! Rampage by TKO 2nd round.

These ESPN guys are a joke.

by natureboy on Jul 4, 2008 11:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

yeah they don’t know a thing about MMA or the UFC unless it’s written on the teleprompter. they’ll realize how stupid they were for ignoring MMA as a mainstream sport 5-10 years from now.

could you imagine if they dedicated a show to analyzing MMA happenings. right now they have so many shows with the same damn topics discussed by different people from 8am to 10pm. Can’t they add an MMA show in there (on TV not the net)?

the guy interviewing Forrest Griffin is a LOSER!!! i have never met anyone that useless and dumb the questions he was asking griffin were just dumb.. but you gotta love Griffin for still making funny ….. Forest is huge under dog but i wouldn’t mind having him win!! good luck forest

by Ricky on Jul 5, 2008 12:20 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

yeah I agree! Forrest is fighting for the tite, nd u ask him useless questions about being a cop? Every time ESPN gets invoved with mma, I am happy at first and then I realize that they dont know anything about the sport!

I am starting to think that it should just stay away from ESPN all together!

Rampage just got done cutting weight and the idiot kept breaking his ballz to HOwl? F Off dude! U wanna see Rampage howl?> Then pay $45 like the rest of us! tool! Jim Rome is the only one that has somewhat of a clue on ESPN

IF ESPN wants to be involved in mma, then maybe they should hire a specialist, LIKE ME!!!

by john on Jul 5, 2008 9:51 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

haha couldn’t agree more. ESPN analysts act like such tools sometimes.

by LiFt on Jul 5, 2008 12:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ricky – Maybe the reason that guy’s questions were so lame is because he (a) doesn’t understand MMA, and/or (b) has no respect for it as a sport. I found his attitude from the get-go to have a disrespectful undertone, like he was talking to a pro “wrastler” or something.

by MMACrossfire on Jul 5, 2008 10:48 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed, he was talking to Rampage like he was some freakshow!

by john on Jul 5, 2008 11:02 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

john – I thought the guy who interviewed Rampage was MUCH more intelligent, much much cooler than Forrest’s interviewer. With they’d let Rampage’s interviewer interview Griffin. Griffin’s interviewer bothered me from his first few words to Griffin. “Police Acadamy”. What???? Just silly, and not even slightly funny. Maybe he knew that Forrest had a reputation as a comedian, and thought he could hang with him. Who knows. I just found his tone disrespectful. But I found Rampage’s interviewer respectful and engaging, whether he knew much about MMA or not.

by MMACrossfire on Jul 5, 2008 11:06 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Only person I have seen on ESPN with half a clue about MMA is Jim Rome, al these other guys have no business interviewing fighters. They either should educate themselves about the sport and its fighters, or just stop covering mma altogether.

I just dont like it, hoow hard woulud it be to hire someone with some knowedge of the sport. Just get Bas Rutten on there and call it a day!

by john on Jul 5, 2008 11:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

they treated him like he was a pro-wrestler. bas would be perfect. he has the knowledge, the personality and the charisma. why bas is stuck in the ifl and hd-net is beyond me. someday someone will wake up and realize that bas is the best.

by john on Jul 5, 2008 8:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

There is no way Rampage will loose this fight, he’s fully focused & Juanito has his confidence as high as it’s ever been

by Pierre on Jul 5, 2008 1:54 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Pierre – Rampage is my favorite UFC fighter, but don’t count your chickens before they hatch. I didn’t even watch UFC 69 because I “knew”, without a shadow of a doubt, that GSP would destroy Serra. It was a joke fight, from my perspective, so why even watch? Joke was on me! So, though I expect Rampage to win, I will not be blown away if he loses. He definitely has the edge in this fight statistically.

by MMACrossfire on Jul 5, 2008 10:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I do agree with you Cross anything can happen in MMA & that did cross my mind as well. It’s a definite possibility that Rampage can loose tonight because Forrest has good ground skills and above average stand up. But the only person that can beat Rampage tonight is Rampage & with the confidence he’s portraying i just don’t think it’s going to happen. Forrest looked very nervous during the interview & weigh-ins Rampage was as serious as a heart attack he wouldn’t even howl for ESPN…This is the biggest fight that Forrest has had in his career(first 5 round title fight)also it’s against the toughest opponent in his career. I just think the nerves & Rampage’s experience will get the best of him tonight. That’s also something that’s different between Forrest & Serra,,,Serra was a seasoned veteran who had a lot of experience. Forrest beating a gassed out,,,out of shape Shogun just isn’t enough to convince me that he can beat Rampage tonight.

by Pierre on Jul 5, 2008 9:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

WOW that’s a joke i can’t believe that all 3 judges gave that to Forrest. Rampage knocked Forrest down in the first round. Grant it Forrest hurt Rampage with kicks to the leg. BUT HE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING else the in the moment(he was on top of Rampage for over 3 minutes & didn’t do any damage on the ground),,,Rampage defended everything he had while he was hurt. Rampage landed the harder cleaner shots that backed Forrest up every time he hit him. Rampage was hurt the whole fight & still landed the cleaner/harder shots. That’s why the crowd BOOED Forrest at the end of the fight,,,you have to convincingly beat the Champ and he didn’t beat the Champ. Rampage is a good sport which is why he said Forrest whopped his a** and that’s just the way he talks,,,,but AT THE END OF THE DAY he didn’t beat the champ. Check out Forrest’s face after the fight that shows how much damage Rampage did to him. I was so shocked in the 4th round when Rogan said that Forrest was winning the fight it was such B.S. Even Goldberg was shocked at that comment his initial reaction said it all. He said “ARE YOU SURE”? & then afterwards he jumped on the bandwagon with Rogan as they both started to sway they’re commentating toward Forrest….I PRAY THAT THEY GIVE RAMPAGE A REMATCH…He definately deserves it because he unified the titles and in my eyes as well as everyone’s eye’s who were they’re at the fights eyes didn’t loose that fight. That fight was easily 3 rounds to 2 QUINTON “RAMPAGE” JACKSON!!!!!

by Pierre on Jul 6, 2008 1:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i think he is very serious about staying undisputed champ and that fuels his motivation to train so hard. Forrest so no joke and he might give Page a tough time in the beginning…but i ultimately see Page adapting to Griffin’s game plan and exposing his weaknesses during the fight.

What is all this talk about a title shot for winner of cote/almeida. I’m a little scared because i think I’m one of the only people who actually LIKE Okami; and I feel he might just be brushed aside of his top contender status due to his marketability.

by Brandon on Jul 5, 2008 2:21 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Okami shouldn’t even be considered a # 1 contender IMO because honestly, that guy doesn’t stand a chance…

I’ve been a true and loyal fan of the UFC from the very early days. I have watched the sport evolve into an impresssive and respectable sport. However, after last night’s transition of the UFC to the WWE, I am embarrassed to be a fan. I guess scripting fights to draw more money on a rematch is the new way of the UFC. I am not a disgruntled Rampage fan and like both fighters but that was about as WWE style as you can get. That was the last UFC fight I will watch. If I want fake scripted fights I would watch WWE, at least they’re upfront about the acting jobs. Congrats to the UFC of finally stooping to a new low!
