PRIDE 33 DVD ‘THE SECOND COMING’

PRIDE FC continues its return to DVD with today’s release of PRIDE 33: The Second Coming.

PRIDE 33 The Second Coming was a mixed martial arts event held by PRIDE Fighting Championships on February 24, 2007 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the night’s main event, welterweight champion Dan Henderson knocked out PRIDE Middleweight Champion Wanderlei Silva, stripping him of his title to become the new middleweight champion.

This victory by Henderson avenged an earlier loss to Silva after their first encounter in 2000 at PRIDE 12, with Silva winning that fight in a three-round unanimous decision.

Also see the infamous and shocking gogoplata by Nick Diaz on Takanori Gomi!

FIGHT CARD:
-Joachim Hansen vs. Jason Ireland
-Frank Trigg vs. Kazuo Misaki
-James Lee vs. Travis Wiuff
-Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
-Hayato Sakurai vs. Mac Danzig

Seriously. I only ordered PRIDE PPV’s here and there, but after PRIDE 33, I said to myself that I am no longer picking and choosing, I will never miss one again. Then the UFC bought them…

The people I watch the UFC with weren’t into PRIDE so instead of chipping in like $10 for a PPV I’d have to eat the whole bill for the PRIDE events and watch them on the recliner. At least I got the Mrs. to watch the Diaz and Hendo fights. Even she was jumping out of her seat.

Shogun looked uncontrollable/unstoppable at PRIDE 33.

Knowing what I knew after watching the event, I would have gladly spent $100 to watch it LIVE!!!!!!

True that. Mach Sakurai almost knocks Mac Danzigs head off!

Great Event!

Don’t get cheap on me now BW, make the buy.

Unfortunatly I already have it! Before Mania announced that the new Pride DVD’s would be released, I went out and bought an international DVD player, and my uncle is a pilot for British airways, so he is always traveling. I had him buy me all the unreleased Pride dvd’s from Japan, so I have most of the ones that will be released in the future including the open weight grand prix and the Bushido tournament!

I think the only dvd i am missing is the Pride vs. K-1 from back in the day….I doubt that will ever be released in America!

by john on Jul 2, 2008 2:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

LOLOL. You got an airplane pilot uncle smuggling in illegal MMA DVD’s from Japan for you. That has me laughing!!!

by ViolentMike on Jul 2, 2008 3:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I got a few imported items that I’d be REALLY interested in. Your uncle fly elsewhere and take non-family side-jobs?

by ViolentMike on Jul 2, 2008 3:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

double LOL! great story JOHN.

by b.w on Jul 2, 2008 3:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Even better is the fact that they are bootleg Pride dvd’s!
I gave him a list of a the dvd’s that I am missing, and he came back with almost all of them, but they were Bootleg. He got em all for like $40 bucks in Japan, and the quality is amazing, so I cant complain!

My Uncle has the life, he goes everywhere, and when he has free time he goes to Amsterdam (like 3 times a year) to smoke his brains out. He is married and his wife lives in philly, but he is only in like Philly haf of the year, so basically he is a part time Husband! Not a bad life! He is a crazy ass Britsh dude, he is like a cool-ass-square! Reminds me of Austin powers.

What do u need VM?

by john on Jul 2, 2008 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Its funny you ask, because Amsterdam was the stop I had in mind!!!!

by ViolentMike on Jul 2, 2008 5:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Unfortunately He doesnt bring me back any goodies from Amsterdamn. He would love to bring some for himself, but he is too scared!

Sooner or later I will get my ass to Amsterdam. He has an apartment that he keeps in London, I have been there a few times, its pretty nice, but he is only there like 1/3 of the year…He spends about another 1/3 of the year in Philly, and another 1/3 flying through out the world.
When I graduate next year I will probably go to london and just take the train over to Amsterdam.

Group Trip? anyone? lol

John, the thing with you is you always wanna sound like an expert on every topic in here, you don’t even practice mma! You just state the obvious which every person in here already knew! All you do is write stuff. So pls. get up find the nearest mma gym in your place and learn stuff! So until then don’t tell me to get out of this site.

why doesn’t the ufc go after overeem and kharitonov??? talk about a big splash in the hw division, especially sergei. both of those guys are very capable fighters and both still young, sergei is only like 28 and alistair maybe 30-31.

by duece 4 on Jul 2, 2008 2:47 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Alistair Overeem is the current StrikeForce HW champion and he made it to the finals of the DREAM MW Grand Prix. He has been staying busy and likes fighting internationally. I don’t think he’d like the exclusiveness of the UFC.

And guess who he fought in DREAM, Sergei Kharitonov. When they fight at heavy wieght, they are both very small for the division. Also, when they are against top competion, they usually lose. However, considering how weak the UFC HW division is, they should be trying to sign any HW with a name that hasn’t already been signed by Affliction/Adrenaline.

by ViolentMike on Jul 2, 2008 3:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sergei is a MUST sign! UFC needs to get some of those dutch fighters…dudes can all strike with the best of them. UFC is lacking Dutchmen, would ike to see that change…I wouldnt mind seeing Manhoeff at middleweight fighting in the UFC

by john on Jul 2, 2008 3:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Manhoeff would be an amazing pick up for the UFC. I haven’t seen one fight where he wasnt explosive in it. The dude has some vicious GnP and has a fast as hell stand up game.

by Tricky Nick on Jul 2, 2008 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I THINK HE WOULD BEAT SILVA. HES SMALL BUT MAKES UP FOR IT WITH SPEED AND POWER. IN MY OPINION HE WOULD BE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE HES FOUGHT GUYS WAY TALLER THAN HIM.ex BOJANSKY HE WAS 10 INCHES TALLER!!!!!!!!!!!!

by skoler12 on Jul 2, 2008 5:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’ve heard about the outcomes to these fights but never actually saw them. This seems like a cool DVD to catch up on some Epic matches.

by LiFt on Jul 2, 2008 4:36 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

If you havent seen this event, buy it off of mmamania immediately….IMO it is one of the better events in the history off mma…only thing that would have made it better is if it were held in Japan instead of Vegas, still it is a “MUST OWN CLASSIC”

by john on Jul 2, 2008 4:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

IMO, best card of 07 by far.

by DirtyML on Jul 2, 2008 6:32 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I would buy it without a doubt, but the shipping is gonna kill me..

by pUniSHment on Jul 2, 2008 8:15 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Do you guys ship to Hawaii?

by pUniSHment on Jul 2, 2008 8:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

We usually just ship within the Continetal US, however if you are interested send us an email from the contact form with the DVDs you’d like to buy and we’ll try to work something up.
