UFC 89 tickets for 'Bisping vs Leben' at NIA in Birmingham, England, on October 18

Today the middleweight showdown between Michael Bisping and Chris Leben was made official for UFC 89: "Bisping vs. Leben" at the National Indoor Arena (NIA) in Birmingham, England, on October 18.
The two were supposed to meet at UFC 85: "Bedlam" earlier this year; however, the 185-pound clash was postponed. There's no word on whether or not this will be the main event of the evening or if the bill will be split with a soon to be announced match up.
Regardless, here is the UFC 89 tickets sales schedule:
UFC Fight Club presale: Wednesday, July 2 at 10 a.m. BST
UFC Newsletter presale: Friday, July 4 at 10 a.m. BST
General ticket sale: Sunday, July 6 at 10 a.m. BST
UFC 89 tickets can be purchased through StubHub.com. (Note: StubHub often has seats available even if the event is "sold out.")

trur that. nice fight but not main even worthy, at least for the ufc and $45 bucks! but its still almost 4 months away! thats alot of time for things to change. dont give up hope yet.

I don’t know why people here assume to know the future. Where is it stated that this is a main event? The UFC website doesn’t have the title as Bisbing vs Leben. It has no title. Give it time.

True, I highly doubt this will be the actual main event. If it does turn out to be the main event, I absolutely doubt that I will be shelling out the coin.

co-main maybe. Can’t believe it is going to be named Bisping vs Leben.

Add Forrest to the list of fighters that want no part of loyoto Machida….its getting Pathetic, anyone want to fight the man?
Forrest Griffin quote:
“I want nothing to do with that guy. Not at all. He’s a tough fighter and I’d like to fight a lot of other guys first.”
by john on Jul 1, 2008 6:42 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That’s because Lyoto will outpoint anyone in the division. He has that elusive style and seems to be able to get off more scoring strikes. Griffin does not have KO power so I really don’t see how he can possiby beat Lyoto.
I’m not surprised. Machida is an incredible fighter. I suppose his in and out style makes him like an evasive mma Mayweather. Possibly a bad comparison but that’s just how I see it. They’re both just so damn hard to hit.
by RobH86 on Jul 1, 2008 8:32 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Cant argue with you there RobH….Good stuff, he kind of is like an mma mayweather…kind of like a ghost!
It will take someone with KO power to beat Machida. Since Forrest HAS NONE, I cant imagine how in the world he could possibly beat Machida…..and if it were to go to the ground, mACHIDA would embarress him!@

Word to your mother, whenever UFC is followed by numbers it cost you money. UFN is a little different. This is going to be on PPV

I believe that you are wrong my friend. UFC 70 was on spike for free. Remember that was the one where Crocop got his head kicked off?

This will be the Main event! I dont like it either. It will be a great fight but the British fans deserve better than this….They always get the weakest cards, and the UFC wonders why they are loosing money in the UK. Just once the UFC should try giving the UK a quality card like a Vegas or Ohio card.
I am American but I feel for the Brit fans, after all, I am from Philly and they give me the BS cards as well….Bisping vs. Rashad…what a joke that event was!
by john on Jul 1, 2008 4:57 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t know john. Bisping gets more posts on average on this site than any other fighter, it seems. Hell, normally 5 hours after something about him comes up, 200 + posts come up. There is so much hype around Bisping, is he the real deal or overhyped that it almost seems main event worthy. I mean he seems to polarize the fans more than anyone, rivaling Tito in the love him or hate him category. I for one can’t f’ing wait! Leben by KO in second round, or I will believe that Bisping is the real deal!
by chefdaddy on Jul 1, 2008 5:19 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree chef! this fight will prove wether he is hype or a legit title contender
by braveheart on Jul 1, 2008 6:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
ChefDaddy: Good post! cant really argue with you, I just think because the UFC has lost money on events in the UK that included Bisping, they need to add some star power for the British fans….
U r right that Bisping is kind of like tito, love him or hate him… I dont know, it would be a a great co-main event that could accompany a title fighht…we will see what happens.
I doubt that it will be on Spike, get ready for pay per view.
by john on Jul 1, 2008 6:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Thats a very good point, i’ve noticed that as well, every bisping thread has a load of posts. Also on the Sherdog (boo hiss) forums almost at every stage of the day there is a Bisping thread, like him or not people are interested.
He divides opinions and has as many haters as ‘nuthuggers’.
Not sure if this is main event worthy tho, think someone mentioned it earlier but its more of a fightnight headliner.
by nick j on Jul 1, 2008 6:32 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Right now all the titles are pretty much tied up. I do agree that the Brit fans do deserve a better show than just always seeing Bisbing although he puts on exciting shows for them. Remember that Liddell Rua was supposed to be in the UK but that fell through. Its sad though but no matter how you look at it they will try to set up fighters in their home country to make more money. Like if UFC ever hits Mexico or Spain Huerta will be the first to headline. If the UFC goes to Japan it will be Okami for sure. Canada it’ll be GSP (they lucked out in having a champ). Or I suppose if it ever reaches Africa it’ll be Rampage. that last one was a joke but I wouldn’t put it past the UFC to do that.
by Bic on Jul 1, 2008 6:51 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
also as stated above, oct.18 is almost 4 months away! alot could change between now and then. remember when florian/huerta was announced as the main at ufc 87. look how that card has changed.

The thing with ufc 78 was……. the was for Bj Penn to challenge sean sherk for the title but sherk tested positive after the franca fight!
Still no excuse! they shoulda had a better main-event

I was just thinking the exact same thing. I like the matchup alot but def not as a main event!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor Leben even if he wins… the way he lost to Anderson… why even bother trying to get a rematch.

I agree that a title fight should headline. The title fight that would have both champion and contender with longest rest time until UFC 89 is in the HW division. I see Nog vs. Werdum.
LW won’t work because contenders Florian/Huerta fight in Aug. Anderson Silva fights in late July. And Rampage/Forrest fight on Saturday.
by TABASCOsauce on Jul 1, 2008 5:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nog and Frank Mir are scheduled to be the coaches of TUF8, which puts their title fight around New Years Eve.

oh yes it can. british shows are generally a bit of a step down from the usual. best way to get ppv buys or whatever they have over there is with bisping. tis all about the marketing gentlemen.

Um you guys forget that the BRITS love THE COUNT!!! OF course he’s going to b the main event he’s the hometown hero.

Yes, Bisping is the most popular fighters in England, but he has never headlined here before, we deserve a main event fight with the top fighters in. Yes we have been lucky so far, but remember that UFC 72 was headlined by Franklin vs Okami…. LOL!!!! The last 2 cards in UK have been weak. UFC 85 as an event was amazing, I was there, but I was also there at UFC 75 where we got a proper main event.
by Adam on Jul 1, 2008 5:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Not speaking for all the British but on the whole we will always support our own any nation would but I don’t think we love Bisping.
I agree with most of the other comments, if this is the main event I will not be going to see the show.We want to see some title fights we want to see the big stars and the best fights regardless of nationality.Trust me more people know Chuck’s name / face than Bisping’s over here.

maybe it should be the first ufn card in england. it is in a smaller venue and know way should bisping and the jail house icon should be headlineing a ppv. unless of course they start adding mad crazy matches to this card and a real main event like they did with the august card.

According to UFC.com the event has no name yet. That is most likely because it has no main event. So all you little whiney b1tches can relax.
The UFC is probably waiting to make sure Silva smashes Irvin before scheduling his title defense against Okami, which will be the main event.

GOOD INFO. this is just like ufc 87. everyone got their panties in a bunch months before the card was finalized and in no time they added gsp/fitch and changed brock/coleman to brock/herring (due to injury) and florian/huerta is on the under, a great fight in itself. some people cant wait to dis the ufc. i think they do great about 90% of the time.

It’s too early to slag 89 off – they’ve only named one fight. I’ll be going anyway. I’d rather see good hard fights compared to names anyday.

Remember how everyone was going mad about UFC 87 and that event turned out pretty good, would of been a lot better if Guida Vs. Danzig was still on the card. Howcome that fight was moved to UFN 15? Did one of them get injured or something?

I hope Silva doesn’t defend his title in England. I saw him fight Franklin and now I want to head to Vegas for his next defense.
I’d like to see Silva vs. Silva, as in Wanderlei vs. Thiago. Dan Henderson vs. Demian Maia would be a great fight too. Add those two fights and nobody calls this card weak!

If you remember when the ufc started to market ufc 81 as mir vs lesnar, but then added nog and big tim as the main event. I don’t think the ufc is that dumb to have another England show without a true main event. I think they with see how silva fight with irvin goes then we will see Silva vs Okami. I could be wrong.
by chuck on Jul 1, 2008 8:01 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
In UK this is a Main Event, a England posterboy vs a brawler like Leben, in USA maybe this is a Fight Night Main Event. In addition Henderon vs. Palhares, Franklin (Lightheavyweight?), Hamill and will be a decent card… Anderson Silva vs. Yushin Okami?? Maybe 5 of the 10 best middleweight in UFC this would be a veeeery good event

They are obviously putting it onsale now with Bisping only advertised to see how tickets go. If it starts slow they’ll add a bigger name as main event.
by Andy on Jul 1, 2008 8:06 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I think this is a bad fight for Bisping. The UFC wants to protect Bisping and keep him as an advertising tool in England. Remember when he fought Hamill and clearly lost, and some how came up with the win. Ya he lost his next match to Rashad, but that was in the States. Leben has his confidence up with two impressive wins. I see KO via Leben 2nd or 3rd round.

Not worthy of a main event but most definately an exciting fight to watch. They should definately put okami v silva for the main event and make this one the co-main. Bisping via tko in rd 2.

why don’t the braindead fans accept hamill and evans won because they were big fattys and overpowered him because there size! evans cuddled bisping for 2 full rounds! they can’t do that now! bisping can fight his fight at this weight.

is it just me or will dana do anything so long as he gets his money? what i mean is… if this was ment to be on the last uk card (not the main event) how can it be the main card now? i love both fighters and i’d love to see this fight but i’d prefer main card to be something like hendo vs shogun (if he’s not still injured) like some fighters with bigger fame and more respected in the mma world UFC 85 was originally ment to be Shogun vs Liddell so they follow up the U.k show with this?….gee thanks dana
