But the up and comers in the sport are the ones to watch out for too. A hungry Kaitlin Young – I look at her the same way I look at Tara LaRosa. You never know. I was an up and comer, I had all these girls laughing at me like I wasn't serious. Then I'd whoop 'em. So I would watch out for who's coming. But Tara LaRosa, for sure."
Top Elite XC female mixed martial artist, Gina Carano (6-0), shares her thoughts on who she would like to fight next if it were her choice. This comes on the heels of LaRosa signing a huge deal with the AFL that is believed to have made her the highest paid woman in the sport. In fact, she reportedly stands to make somewhere between $500,000 and $700,000 over a three fight span. The rivalry between Carano -- who is believed to be the most well known female fighter in the world -- and LaRosa -- who is believed to be the best female fighter in the world -- has been steadily brewing for quite some time. LaRosa has called Carano unprofessional in the past for her inability to make weight, and went as far as to say the 140 pound Elite XC weight class was made specifically for her benefit. Carano responded on the Yac and J show by saying LaRosa looked like a man. Eventually these two are going to have to lock 'em up. It's only a matter of time.

But why make weight? womenfights should NOT be as heavyweight as the men. woman, not dykes on steroids.. real women can be a joy to watch and also be able to kick ass. its all about the best fighter and if gina fights her best at that weight, so be it.
if i want to see elefant fights… i goto asia.

either way im not sure if gina would win, but theres a change if her cardio is excellent and she can dodge a rhino-stampede.

Here’s an update from FiveOncesOfPain.com on Gary Shaw, He was fired by a couple boxers as there promoter this past weekend, check it out:
Paul Balsom just posted an excerpt and a link from an MMAPayout.com report indicating that EliteXC Live Events President Gary Shaw has basically been phased down and could ultimately be phased out.
Well, if that’s indeed the case, that’s only bad news Shaw has to navigate through right now. According to a report on 15rounds.com, two of his better boxing prospects, flyweight titleholder Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire and junior middleweight contender James "Mandingo" Kirkland fired Shaw as their promoter over the weekend.
The report goes on to state that the two fighters fired Shaw over claims of a breach of contract and for failure to provide revenue statements as provided by the Muhammad Ali Act.

I thought (not sure though) that Kaitlin Young stated Carano was making around 50k a fight while Young was making 17k or something like that.

And that’s why AFL will be broke within a year, two tops. You don’t pay that kid of money to a female fighter that will not pull in the PPV revenues to offset the cost. That is why most of these up-start promotions are and will fail. They have a poor business model. They’ll shell out whatever kindof money to get “named” fighters but yet don’t have the infrastructure to support the cost on a long term basis.

this fight would help legitimize female mma. im still nnot really sure about womens mma yet. they tried it in boxing to a little success. alot of that was due to alot of exciting fights cuz the ladies weerent skilled enough to put on a clinical boxing match and a slugfest would insue. the girls couldnt hit hard enough to ko each other so there would be alot of back and forth action. after awhile that got old. there arent alot of good female fighters right now so they should be fighting each other. i agree w/ the statement that tara would own gina. gina has won off size alone in most of her fights. she should defenitley have to make weight from here on out or face suspension. i would be surprised if this fight ever really happens. we never got to see christy martin vs lucia rijker after calling each other out for years.lucia can fight like a man and christy was scared to death of her. i think tara can fight mma like a man as well and gina is to pretty to take a chace with. and oh yeah BOOBIES!

it would be a good fight but I’m 100% confident that LaRosa would ENFORCE that Carano actually make weight. LaRosa has enough bargaining power that she wouldn’t be bullied into taking the fight (unlike the other women Carano has faced).
I’d love to see the fight, I think it would be a great main event and hope that some day it will happen.

Does Gina pad those things when she is fighting? I’ve never noticed her looking so big upstairs in interviews, but when she gets in the ring those things look huge. (No disrepect intended toward Gina, I think she’s hot and would love for her to show me some moves, mma moves that is?!)

Wow..I have never seen so much disrespect for a fighter before! Is it because she is a woman who happens to gorgeous that you think you can sit here and talk like that about her?
I train with women and never would act like that towards them or speak like that about them.
The funny thing is most of you would get your asses handed to them by Gina or Tara.

Just because Gina happens to gorgeous does not mean you should disrespect her like that. She is still a fighter and like the women I train with, deserves respect for stepping in there and doing what fighters do.
These posts are a disgrace to women’s mma, mma as a whole and to this great site.

I would say yes she is based on her popular status at this time. What is main card worthy? Is it the best of the best or is it what will draw in the fans and have people parked in front of the tv?
The best of the best some say but then again one of the biggest UFC draws has been Tito Ortiz and we all know his fights with Shamrock were not the best vs. the best!

I AM A HUGE MMA FAN. I ADMIT THAT I AM ALSO A MALE CHAUVANIST. I THINK THAT GINA CARANO IS WONDERFUL FOR WOMENS MMA. TARA LAROSA, HOWEVER, IS THE SUPERIOR FIGHTER SO GARY SHAW WOULD NEVER LET THIS HAPPEN. IT WOULD BE TERRIBLE FOR WOMENS MMA TO HAVE GINA LOSE WHILE SHE HAS SO MUCH MOMENTUM FROM THE CBS DEBUT OF EXC AND AMERICAN GLADIATORS. THEY NEED TO RIDE OUT CARANO’S POPULARITY BY HANDING HER A FEW MORE SCRUBS TO BEAT UP ON HIGH-PROFILE PROMOTIONS LIKE THE EXC ON CBS EVENT THIS FALL.
I KNOW THAT THIS DOES NOTHING FOR THE LEGITIMACY OF WOMENS MMA — BUT IT WILL NEVER BE LEGITIMATE, SO WHY NOT KEEP GINA’S PRETTY FACE INTACT AS LONG AS WE CAN. WOW,I’ve heard alot Larosa but never saw her fight until recently. Her build, facial structure, a rash and that big Adams Apple mean only one thing “Steriods”, and NOT short term use. You do NOT get those changes after a few months of juice, it takes years to do that. Do they test these fighters? Random, only pre-fight or not at all?
Love to see Gina take her down but if Larosa is on the riods, even off cycle, she will have a big strength advantage. If Larosa’s on HGH as well, she could go into the cage on that crap and beat-down Gina, not fair at all, but that kinda of stuff still happens.
Gina, if you fight this one DEMAND complete testing for all performance enhancing drugs plus testerone,etc. cuz Larosa’s dirty, and means no FAIR fight.
