Report: 'Gary Shaw's days at ProElite may be numbered'

Props: MMAPayout.com

Quoteworthy:

"Speculation within the MMA industry suggests that Gary Shaw's days at ProElite may be numbered. Rumors suggest that Shaw may be out by the end of the summer, possibly soon after the July 26 CBS event ... the expected move is another example of CBS's growing influence on the company. Santa Monica Capital Partners, the largest shareholder in the company, is also believed to have taken a more active role in the company of late."

Professional boxing promoter-turned mixed martial arts promoter, Gary Shaw, could be on the ropes as Elite XC Live Events President if the report is indeed accurate.

LOL, Mania gave Crazy no props.

by BNF on Jun 24, 2008 5:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Mania is always good with giving props to people. Hence why Crazy is up there now.

by "Mr. NC-17" on Jun 24, 2008 5:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Not me :(

maybe I should use the contact page

I posted the news about Anderson Silva vs Irvin way before the thread

I posted Mrs Couture before the thread

But I’m not bitter lol

by Automation on Jun 24, 2008 5:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Like Henderson vs. Palhares at UFC 88.

by "Mr. NC-17" on Jun 24, 2008 6:02 PM EDT up reply actions

lol, we’ll see the assist for that

by Automation on Jun 24, 2008 6:06 PM EDT up reply actions

automation you can’t expect mania to give you props if he dosn’t know bout it, he can’t read every post, if you want props than make sure mania knows your the one giving the info via “contact” at the top of the page.

by Macho Bullshit on Jun 24, 2008 6:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Come on now macho, you don’t think I was being serious do you?

by Automation on Jun 25, 2008 8:38 AM EDT up reply actions

Thanks Mania

Holy Crap, would LOVE this to be true. A new president could actually turn this company into something great. Smart move CBS! Shaw is awful for MMA.

by thetuf75 on Jun 24, 2008 6:19 PM EDT up reply actions

GOOD RIDDANCE! Hopefully they get someone in there who knows a thing or 2 about mma and isnt tryiing to turn it into the WWE!!

Best Case Scenario would be Proelite Selling eliteXC to donald Trump and merging it with Affliction! That would be bad ass and 1 Giant step closer to producing legit competition for the UFC!~

by john on Jun 24, 2008 6:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Makes sense, EliteXC was on the verge of going bankrupt before CBS saved them with a deal that was very much in CBS’s favor.
Gary Shaw being bounced out would probably help EliteXC in hardcore mma fan circles…

by Jason on Jun 24, 2008 5:20 PM EDT reply actions

So no more protection for Kimbo? Maybe now we can see some of there good talent face each other?

by JV on Jun 24, 2008 5:20 PM EDT reply actions

Looks like Dana was 100% correct. July 5th and 19th can’t get here soon enough kids!!!!

by Robert on Jun 24, 2008 5:24 PM EDT reply actions

this could be good for elite, if they get rid of shaw maybe they could turn things around they do have some good fighters.

by roy on Jun 24, 2008 5:28 PM EDT reply actions

Maybe without Shaw they will start to take Elite XC seriously and avoid all the pro wrestling BS that has brought them down from the beginning.

by Ballam on Jun 24, 2008 5:28 PM EDT reply actions

PLEASE make this so! Gary Shaw is a slimeball of the highest calibre and he only does MMA harm. CBS and EXC have a golden opportunity in front of them and this douche will mess it up if he stays in charge.

by kissenger on Jun 24, 2008 5:31 PM EDT reply actions

Amen to that.

by naturalshadow on Jun 25, 2008 12:02 AM EDT up reply actions

Oh thank god, the soonner Shaw has nothing to do with mma the better.

by Macho Bullshit on Jun 24, 2008 5:36 PM EDT reply actions

I hope this isn’t true. Gary Shaw has done wonders for EXC. It’s because of him that everyone continue to talks about EXC and why it’s even in the spot light. Nobody would care about EXC if it wasn’t for the crap he’s done.

by sbud on Jun 24, 2008 5:37 PM EDT reply actions

And doesn’t that tell you something?
The only reason people cared is because he was ruining it and doing things bad for the sport?

You don’t see anyone complaining about Dream or Strike Force. Elite should have gone the way of Bodog, then perhaps a legit group would have gotten on CBS and the sport would have been advanced in an acceptable way.

by J on Jun 24, 2008 5:47 PM EDT up reply actions

You can’t be serious …

by Liddell-GSP on Jun 24, 2008 6:54 PM EDT up reply actions

In Bizzaro world?

by Jrandolph on Jun 25, 2008 1:22 AM EDT up reply actions

I really hope this happens. Shaw has made some really stupid decisions, and will eventually be the downfall of elite xc. The stupid Diaz vs Mach cancellation followed by the Diaz vs Noons cancellation sealed the deal for me. He needs to go

by yohnstoppable on Jun 24, 2008 5:46 PM EDT reply actions

Thank god.

by "Mr. NC-17" on Jun 24, 2008 5:48 PM EDT reply actions

Look at him, he just looks like a shyster.

by Kimura by Fedor on Jun 24, 2008 5:50 PM EDT reply actions

Maybe the Mexicutioner’s BOYCOTT screams where heard by the higher ups at ProElite and CBS?

by JV on Jun 24, 2008 5:50 PM EDT reply actions

LMFAO!

by chefdaddy on Jun 24, 2008 7:19 PM EDT up reply actions

Its about time the higher ups listened to me. IT’S STILL REAL TO ME DAMN IT!

by the_mexicutioner on Jun 24, 2008 9:47 PM EDT up reply actions

yah get rid of him has those beady eyes I dont trust

by tobias808 on Jun 24, 2008 6:17 PM EDT reply actions

Good effin riddance. This guy has no personality. When he came in the cage during the Smith/Lawler fight to announce they would get their win bonuses also, he just seemed inarticulate and rushed to speak on the mic. Dana may drop an f-bomb or 12 but he has personality and is into the sport.

by halljam2 on Jun 24, 2008 6:27 PM EDT reply actions

He should get one of those huge white vans without windows and drive around in the suburbs aimlessly. It’d suit him.

Who’s going to promote Kimbo now though?

by dave on Jun 24, 2008 6:33 PM EDT reply actions

COOL GARY SHAW SUCKS
KIMBO SUCKS!!!!!!!!
THE WHOLE ELITE XC SUCKS

WAR UFC

by daniel on Jun 24, 2008 7:10 PM EDT reply actions

quit being such a fan boy. if a fight is good it doesn’t matter where it is. UFC, DREAM, Affliction, EliteXC, who cares? a bad fight is a bad fight and a good fight is a good fight

by El dirte on Jun 24, 2008 7:16 PM EDT up reply actions

If Shaw left and they had some quality challenges for their ‘marquee’ fighters, then I may boycott the Boycott.

by the_mexicutioner on Jun 24, 2008 7:46 PM EDT reply actions

There real fighters and not the freak show people. Kimbo is such a promotional waste. Shields should be there top dog right now.

by halljam2 on Jun 24, 2008 8:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Please let this be true, please let this be true…..Please, just let this be true.

by Nos on Jun 24, 2008 7:59 PM EDT reply actions

It’s nice to see MMA progressing forward. This might actually make up for the kimbo hype.

by NameNotRequired on Jun 24, 2008 8:28 PM EDT reply actions

Don’t let the door hit ya Mr. Shaw

by primary Knukkle on Jun 24, 2008 9:13 PM EDT reply actions

i saw this coming a year ago. ha!

by b.w on Jun 24, 2008 9:32 PM EDT reply actions

gary shaw gone= kimbo slice gone

by mr.rice-a-roni on Jun 24, 2008 10:45 PM EDT reply actions

No chance of that. He’s still a huge draw. It’s just that now he’ll have to face decent fighters and won’t have any executives, um, making suggestions to any referees about who should winthe fights.

by PW on Jun 24, 2008 11:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Im sorry to see him go, he had the best tracksuits in the whole of MMA.

by UKmmaBOY on Jun 25, 2008 5:24 AM EDT reply actions

This is exactly why Dana hasn’t made a network deal. He will not give up control of his company. Dana said a while back that CBS wanted total control of how EliteXC was going to be run.

by VNDK8 on Jun 25, 2008 9:51 AM EDT reply actions

skimp $ from the fireworks, dancers (although i like them), and rappers and put it towards hiring more MMA credible employees: fighters, fight commentary, promoter, match maker, and fighters. the whole business plan was based on putting on a show and lacking credibility. and they need to move away from the lopsided/mismatch fights. Also, goes without saying, FIXING FIGHTS is INTOLERABLE! fix those things, and there’ll be a lot of happy hardcore fans.

by kama kaze on Jun 25, 2008 10:51 AM EDT reply actions

Wierd….Elite XC is to far gone to bring anything credible, they blew it.

Now I can’t wait for their three good fighters to go find new contracts.

CBS your excuse of an mma production, is sub par, dull and discraceful. Way to take and exciting sport and KILL it.
