Nick Diaz and KJ Noons will not fight on July 26

MMAmania.com has just learned that Nick Diaz will not fight Elite XC Lightweight Champion KJ Noons on the next CBS show entitled "Unfinished Business," which is slated for July 26.
The match up appeared to be all but guaranteed -- Noons and Diaz were involved in a post-fight tussle at the "Return of the King" show earlier this month after Noons defended his 160-pound title against Yves Edwards. Diaz was invited in to the ring to discuss a rematch with Noons and the entire situation descended into chaos rather quickly.
Noons defeated Diaz via technical knockout (cuts) at Elite XC: "Renegade" back in November 2007. It was a decision that did not sit well with the volatile Diaz and the smack talk has escalated ever since.
Recent speculation has the July 26 CBS show headed for Stockton, Calif., which is where Diaz calls home. He'll likely still compete on the card, considering it's possibly in his backyard and his scheduled fight against Hayuto "Mach" Sakurai for the Dream welterweight title fight on July 21 (just five days prior to "Saturday Night Fights") was recently scrapped because of contractual obligations with Pro Elite (the Elite XC parent company).

Now that is just complete and utter bullsh*t no matter how you look at it. Its just the system F’ing with Nick Diaz, yet again. EliteXC should have ONLY cancelled his DREAM championship fight against Sakurai if his fight on July 26th was going to be for a different championship. Quit holding my homie down! KJ Noons gets to fight half his fights in Hawaii and California. This is going to be the first ever big MMA event in Stockton, and Nick Diaz isn’t fighting KJ for the belt? WTF??? Nick Diaz beat Mushin Cobrrey and became #1 contender. When you are #1 contender, YOU FIGHT FOR THE TITLE. Was KJ and his father fondling Gary Shaw’s nuts for the last couple days once they heard that they might have to fight Diaz in Stockton. MAN, THIS IS SO JACKED UP!
Nick Diaz should not have to fight against anyone in EliteXC other than KJ Noons. Why risk the #1 contender status. PLUS, its a heated rivalry that EliteXC is trying to promote WWF style, so they wouldn’t risk it either. What just happened is Elite pulled Diaz out of the DREAM title fight FOR NOTHING.
JOHN, yesterday I saw you mentioning that if not Noons, the other possible opponent for Diaz would be Eddie Alvarez. HOWEVER, Eddie Alvarez is competing on that same exact DREAM card that Diaz was supposed to fight Mach. Alvarez is in the final 4 of the LW Grand Priz and potentially has two fights that night on July 21. So there’s no way Alvarez can be Diaz’a opponent.
I do not want this event to take place in Stockton. I want the event that Diaz fights Noon’s to take place in Stockton. Diaz’s camp should be on the phone with the DREAM people right now saying that they are still fighting Sakurai at DREAM on the 21st. Nick is not even going to be on the Elite card now becuse that p*ssy Noons was probably crying that he didn’t have enough time to get ready. He usually has like 8 months between fights, because he is not a real fighter like Nick Diaz. As a matter of fact, if you don’t accept the fight with #1 contender when its offered, you should have to bow down to the #1 contender and conceed the belt to him!
Nick is puffing a LOT of trees right now to cope with this…. I wish I could join and cheer him up with what I got!

Now this is getting F’in rediculous! Let Diaz fight Mach already instead of him wastinh his time in that Stupid WWEish organization. I didnt like him backing out of the Sakurai fight, but I understood it if he was going to get a title shot against KJ “The Nancy Boy” Noons, but Noons is ducking him again. Serilusly EliteXC has no depth in its divisions, so If noons wont fight Diaz in july, just let Diaz fight Sakurai….forget the damn show in stockton, what respectful organization has a show in Stockton? lol Its going to be all thugged out, and on CBS it will porobably give the sport a worse name then Elite did with the Kimbo fiasco!
EliteXC has no depth so if Noons wants to be Tito Ortiz and not defend his title against the #1 contender, there wont be anyone decent for Diaz to fight. If they make him back out of a DREAM title fight to fight another Mushin Cobrey type fighter, I will be soooo Pissed off! The only other decent possabillity would be Eddie Alvarez, but he is close to winning the Grand Prix, and he will be concentrating on the tournament!
I didnt like Diaz not being allowed to fight Sakurai, to fight Noons, but atleast I understood it.
Now, just forget Stocton, find another location and let Diaz go fight in Jaopan!
I am getting a little sick of the Ceaser gracie boys! They are some of my favorite fighters but enough is enough. GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ELITEXC ALREADY!!! Jake, Gilbert and Nick all need to get away from that stupid organization, NOW!!!

Also Vilentmike, when I referred to Shaw saying he would want to make the Diaz vs. Alverez fight, I meant in the future not for July 26th. As one of the Final four with a great chance of winning the grand prix, NO WAY Shaw could stop Alvarez from competing in the Grand Prix, he has come too far, and for him it is too great of an opportunity. So I didnt mean in July. Nothing will keep Alvarez out of the Finals, especially not Kawajiri (who I am a fan of as well). Shinya, in the finals is a different story (not sure how that fight will play out).
Ceaser Gracie needs to pull all his top guns out of ELITEXXC and do it NOW!!!
THats why I always bash KJ Noons! Seems like another Tito-Ortiz like champion, that doesnt wantt o fight #1 contenmders…..Go back to boxing!

first off, he’ll probably still fight on this card, second, if I had to guess, KJ once again turned down the fight! That 10 seconds was too much for him, this would be short notice. Hold on to that title as long as you can son (by ducking Diaz), because once that fight is signed, your reign as champ is done!

Even so (because I’m totally with you on his EliteXC performances), Shaw said that if he beats Mushin at the last event that he is the #1 contender. I mean, who else does ELite have that can be ranked than Nick. The bottom line is that the only fight he lost in Elite was against the champ.

Who cares how many times Nick Diaz will get cancelled!!! His fights are boring!!! If you paid attention to the scuffle after KJ Noons pounded Yves Edwards. You’d notice that KJ asked the fans if they wanted to see Diaz fight again. And the fans all booed… Diaz wasnt surprised though he’s used to gettin booed. It’s appalling to think that Diaz actually works at his striking.

I spoke to Nick Diaz yesterday and heard from someone else today who was saying it looked good to go.
Nick said yesterday that he was 100% in if the event was at Stockton. Who knows if KJ turned down the fight because its in a hostile enviorment?

Noons did say that he didn’t really like the idea of fighting on network tv. He also said he was going to have a boxing match or two in between the Yves Edwards fight and his next title defense. Either way, it sucks. This fight was perfect for a card in Diaz’s backyard, titled ‘Unfinished Business’. Too bad.
I wonder who Diaz is gonna fight now…maybe Hector Lombard at 170, or even better, Paul Daley. I doubt he’ll be killing himself to cut to 160 unless its for a title.

If this is the work of Gary Shaw/EliteXC, then I can totally understand. Why put another title fight that is obviously of MMA nation’s great interest on the same card as Smith-Lawler II. It’s called marketing people. Then they’ll have two aces in their pocket, Diaz-Noons II and Slice-Rogers.
For all the EliteXC haters, you know you want to see all three of these fights.

I think all of you all that are saying Noons is ducking Diaz because he is scared are idiots. Diaz has been spoon fed a couple of low low class fighters in the ELITE XC, and he has looked like crap in every single fight he has participated in. Noons beat Diaz already, and Diaz has not done anything what so ever to get a rematch. He defeated Mushin in a boring fight. Elite XC is heavily favorite towards Diaz, and its bull how he gets a rematch.

agreed. Diaz is living off the hype of his gomi win. People forget that he was outstruck by a 2 foot tall Sean Sherk, beaten by Joe Riggs, and was destroyed by Diego.
This myth of his amazing striking is one of the dumbest things I’ve seen in mma forums/sites as well. He has no striking defense, and just allows his head to be bounced like a basketball in his fights. His BJJ is excellent, I’ll give him that, but he is such a bad gameplanner that he hardly ever uses it. He continues thinking he is Roy Jones Jr, which boggles my mind after watching him LOSE A STANDUP BATTLE TO SEAN SHERK.

I’m reading between the lines here and KJ will only fight in Hawaii and is ducking Nick Diaz. KJ’s Dad has a better chance against Diaz than KJ. KJ got lucky because of all that scar tissue that almost ruined Nicks career. But thanks to Nip Tuck Diaz will be on top again. Win the title and hopefully gets reinstated back in the UFC. KJ is a big ass joke just like f-ing Kimbo Slice.
