Jesse Taylor: 'Ill be back in the UFC'

Props: Steve Cofield over at Yahoo!Sports.com
Quoteworthy:
"I'm still with (UFC). I just want to fight again. After this week we're going to see how things go. So I have to be good in Vegas this week. No hanky-panky. As of right now, more likely than not, I'll be back in the UFC."
Jesse Taylor -- who should be getting ready for the biggest fight of his life tonight against Amir Sadollah at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 Finale -- talks about the prospects of returning to the promotion after being kicked off the show. Taylor got drunk and violent in a casino owned by the Fertitta's after the show wrapped, touting himself as a "UFC fighter" as he ransacked the world around him. The incident didn't sit well with UFC President Dana White and he sent Taylor packing. White remarked that Taylor was out of the UFC forever ... perhaps cooler heads have now prevailed.

Dana White did leave an open for Coco – “Go home, get your f**kin life together, and f**kin call me in a few months”. I personally thought Jesse was a riot, he wasnt a dbag like Jeremy May or Gabe Rudiger..he wasnt the most exciting fighter, so the finals are better for it..but i think he’s genuwinely a decent guy who cant handle his alcahol :(

yeah i think dana just didn’t want jesse to be in the finale. cause he is a boring fighter. dana isn’t a complete jacka** so he didn’t kick jesse of the ufc for something like this. oh did u hear rampage, “u don’t want someone like that representing the ufc.” he knew dana wanted to kick jesse of the finale. and page knew CB would have been one of dana’s choices to take jesse’s spot. rampage is alot smarter than people give him credit for.

ya – i had the exact same feeling, that Dana wanted a reason to have a more exciting finale. Rashad Evans, Manny Gamburyan, Tommy Spear didnt exactly make for the most thrilling finales.
Conspiracy theory aside – good luck to Jesse “Coco the Monkey” Taylor :)

How could you say Rashad didnt make for an exciting Finale? The fight against Imes was the most exciting fight of Evans career, Evans made a much more exciting HW especially against Imes cause he couldnt lay and pray on someone with such a strengt advantage,

I actually agree with you. Dana mentioned earlier in the show how boring Jesse was, and the guy continued to fight the same way throughout.

Please, Jesse did not deserve to represent the UFC after something like that. Who the hell does he think he is.
I for one am glad that he isn’t in the final. Not because of the way he fights, but rather because he’s trashing the sports name.

Jesse is a punk…..he had a chance to take his life and career to the next level….whether you respect Dana White or not….he was given no choice….Jesse had his future by the balls and he dropped them both! Some have suggested that Dana may have set Jesse up by suggesting that sort of behaviour was acceptable…..anyone with any self respect would never act as juvenile as Jesse did while on national TV or just being in the spotlight….he is a fool and blew it….I believe he would act exactly the same if he was to be given a second chance….so I say boot him and find fighters who will appreciate the opportunity!!

didn’t dana tell jesse to call him in a month or so. i think dana just told jesse he was out of the finale, but he still has a shot of being in the ufc. dana said he was physically ready, but not mentally. so i think dana just wanted jesse to grow up a bit before coming to the ufc.

That was some harsh punishment considering Leben missed a fight because he got taken to jail. And now, he will most likely face Bisping in the fall. Jesse would roll CB and have a tough fight with Amir, but would win that one too. He’s a beast on the ground and few can match his power at 185.

Jesse’s already lost to CB in college wrestling, twice. He has a long way to go, he’s powerful, but very one dimensional, and quite frankly boring.

wrestilng and ufc is different and hell kill CB caus he trained with team quest for a while

Don’t let looks fool you. Jesse is pretty powerful and has a lot of stamina, but he has not shown that he can pass guard. He lays and prays. I don’t think think he would beat CB, no way, Jesse likes to take the fight to the ground, and CB is a better wrestler. CB would more than likely take Jesse down and GnP his way to victory. I think Amir is a smart fighter that would pick Jesse apart with standup and use his impressive take down defense and guard to control Jesse on the ground.

Look at Rob Emerson, he still fights in the UFC.
Melvin Guillard is a bigger tool than Jesse and is / was still fighting in the UFC.
Jesse will be back, his kicking off was for ratings, a twist, Dana didn’t need to show the footage on TV and the general public would be none the wiser.
He is an idiot and needs to control himself. He needs to learn respect but he will be back.
I personally couldn’t care less.

I could do without ever seeing his dry-humping no-talent ass in the UFC again. Hell, I don’t even want to see him in WEC. Go give Scumbag Shaw a call so he can promote you as “the guy who is so over the edge even the UFC couldn’t contain him.” And then Scumbag Shaw will say with a straight face that we’ll never see you fighting in bars or in the streets.

It will be interesting to see what happens with him.

Dana should make jesse compete in the next TUF. make him start from scratch; if he’s so good he’ll make it to the next final. That being said, he’s almost as boring as Rashit evans…

It’s actually Rashad, and undefeated fighter 16-0-1 you piece of trash.

Amen!! He might be boring to some but he gets in there and pulls off the wins, so show some respect.

It’ so obvious they wanted cb to win you could tell that dana was upset that amir won see his face downturn like it was a dissapointment and then he say but we want fighers like that in the ufc. Fact is they probably knew that he was a short fuse [remember how that one guy went in there to provoke him [probably sent in my dana to rattle his cage]. I bet they pumped him full of booze and shit and sent him directly on the path they knew he’d go on. Probably gave him the sense it was ok there to let him hang himself. I feel he was set up as they wanted cb. I find it very unfair amir beat cb and has to fight him again. If cb wins I will have lost a major hunk of respect for ufc tactics. They wanted cb in the finally. Simple as that. It’s their their town and their rules. Fare doesn’t play into this.

i don’t think so at all.
He looked shocked, its the same way everyone looked; it was shocking.
I don’t think they care if CB wins man; people and their conspiracy theories.
If anything you’d think you’d want Amir to win: he’s the underdog, he gets beat but squeaks out a win, and he’s likable and humble; dudes rocky.
CB, on the other hand, is cocky and talks in the third person.
They’d rather have the fan favourite win.

Dana was right in kicking the chump off the show. You can be a moron in the house for “good” television, but that behavior will get you jailed in the world. Good but expensive lesson for that moron.

I’m not really impressed with JT, as a figher or as an individual. I’m all about second chances though. If dana lets him back in, He [JT] better get his stuff together and bring a more exciting fight. Conspiracy or not, Dana did’nt force JT to act like “Coco the circus monkey” in the Fertitta’s casino while proclaming his UFC status. By the way, is that an accent or was he battling a cold all season? Just asking.
Jeremy May is still the bigger idot of this season, IMO.
by Jrandolph on Jun 21, 2008 5:18 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He’s a young kid and it would be right for him to get a second chance down the road. If kicking him off the finale in which he would have likely won was not a huge learning lesson for him, I don’t know what will teach this kid. Good luck to him. He should try beer or something, maybe that will make him less like a monkey on crack when drunk.

Why would the UFC possibly need Jesse Laylor?
by KS on Jun 21, 2008 5:27 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He’s got a lot of natural ability. With time and a lot of diverse training, muay thai, boxing, jui jitsu he could be a formidable opponent in the UFC.
by halljam2 on Jun 21, 2008 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
So could anybody with time and diverse training etc.
Thats like saying we could have won that football game if we scored.
Jon Fitch himself said, I have no natural talent, I’ve just worked hard to get where I am.

The core wrestling is huge in MMA. It is the best foundation you can have. Jesse can out wrestle most 185 lb’ers. He is also a pretty big guy at 185.

who’s doing the reporting – Dana never said he was out of the UFC forever “go home…call me me in a few months” he said.
JT’s fighting was just dull, dull, dull. (not to mention he was an idiot for messing up the biggest opportunity of his life.) that fight last night was much better with Amir and CB. and I wanted Amir to won.
by blaqgirl on Jun 22, 2008 8:13 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Dana White probably had an orgasm when he got the vid of JT making a jacka** of himself.
The UFC Brass did NOT want this guy to go to the finals. I’m sure they had hoped someone would defeat him during the show, but alas, it was not to be.
His “lay & pray” style is boring to the casual fan…& that’s who the UFC is trying to market to, THE CASUAL FAN, since the casual fans make up the majority of viewers now.
(The UFC doesn’t need to cater to the hardcore fans…they already own you)
If JT truely wants to fight in the UFC, he’ll need to improve his skills and convince that he can put on a better show.
Until then I’m afraid, you’ll not see him return to the Cage.

I love all the conspiracy theories about Dana throwing Jesse out of the finale because he’s boring. That’s rich. It’s amazing how Dana implanted Jesse with a subliminal message that would make him act like a douche. Jesse didn’t want to kick out that window—he would have rather been at home reading The New Yorker.
If I never see Jesse Taylor on TV again, I’m OK with that.
by The Illuminati on Jun 22, 2008 2:58 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
He’ll be back on an undercarr before the end of the year. At least now the UFC have something about him to market – cus his fighting style sure isn’t gonna sell PPV’s.

Glad to see they finally set some standard of conduct. They let the fighters trash the house. It was probably inevitable that the rowdiness would escalate and spill outside the house. It’s good they showed that whole mess so viewers can see how Jesse shot himself in the foot after climbing to the top. If it gets even a few kids to think about their own drinking and drugging its worth it.

I dont know the guy, but what I saw from TUF S7 I think he’s a good guy, but not so much with patience.
Point is: good guy with good heart.
He made stupid out of him self ep. 11 or 12.
All conspiracy theories are fun etc, but we saw what went down. So forget about it.
Jesse is good guy and Dana made right decision! Thats it!

Seconds Jesse seems to open a lot of conversation and blogs. Thats good.
I hate punks and I think Jesse is not one of them. He’s plain simple dum. Lack of peaceful mind. Good for fighter, it is…

Jesse aka. “COCO” is a respectable guy as you saw by the way the other guys in the house loved him for his entertainment value and just being a plain true straight up guy and acting like a total tard the whole time like he was on vacation, he didn’t flex or put on an act, all he did was be himself and you can’t fake that, especially in a house with 16 other fighters.
Unfortunately part of Jesse as we saw is that he has flaws as well just like everybody does, and he knows it. This does not make him a bad person because he made a mistake and it was a doozy at that, but we have all made mistakes. The important thing is if we learn from them and at least what Jesse did was when he was under the influence and it is something that can be beaten and being the betting man I am I will bet on Jesse to come back strong beat the fuck out of the alcohol.
He has heart and I have not seen him lose yet.
He will be in the UFC one day and we will see him win and we will see him lose as well like all fighters do but he will learn from what has just happened to him and change which will make him a better person and a winner for life.
Go COCO go!!!!

i love hte sport of mma been watching it since they just drew names and a 140 lb guy could end up facing a 250 lb guy and it was about skill and heart jesse taylor lacks both is he a good fighter yay but is he in the class of royce, dan, matt the list goes and i say no hes not hes a meathead as was stated in an earlier comment and the ufc is starting to let me down letting guys like this back letting forrest get a title shot(AND MIND YOU I LIKE FORREST)before keith jardine who beat chuck forrest and a few other badasses but wow no title shot decision and discretion seem to be faltering in the ufc yes i will continue to watch but eventually i might just jump ship to another organization that represents the sport in its entirety with the integrity and honor its fighters give to us
