What does it matter if GSP is in the WW divison or not?? Why is Huerta shook of GSPizze? + I don’t think he will force at 170.. Just Picture..Roger Huerta vs Jon Fitch ( mis match )

by PhilQNY on Jun 20, 2008 11:00 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

So GSP holds the belt for a couple of months and he’s now able to compete with Silva… sorry not happening. And Huerta doesn’t stand much of a chance againsts a fat Alves, Quick Swick, or Fitch.

Come August a lot of people are going to be thinking differently of GSP….

by Arnold on Jun 20, 2008 11:21 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I absolutely agree, GSP has the best chance at silva but that won’t help him, the spider is to talented striking for gsp, and fitch is a horrible matchup for huerta. Fitch will dominate that fight if it ever happened!

by 82ndAirborneDKT on Jun 20, 2008 11:50 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You forgot to mention GSP might be to talented of a wrestler (someone who knows how to stick to the game plan, unlike Hendo)for Silva to handle. I Know how great Silva is , but GSP’s top control is amazing and when there is a scramble he ends up on top. I could see him tiring Silva out and winning. For anyone who could fight at 185, I think GSP is the worst match up for Anderson. Hendo went in throwing wrecklessly and paid the price, GSP doesn’t do that. Silva has had dominant finishes, but he doesn’t dominate his peers the whole fight like GSP does.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT… SILVA WILL GET MANHANDLES BY GSPs UNBELIEVABLE WRESTLING AND OVER ALL STRENGTH!!

Anderson Silva announces that he is moving up to LHW.

Three days later, GSP announces that he is moving up to MW.

Coincidence? I think not.

GSP knows that he has nothing on The Spider.

Seriously, outside of Anderson and Henderson, what does the MW division have to offer?

Now I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want to see Fitch beat GSP.

No, wait. That’s how I already felt. Add 5 more REALLY’s.

by ViolentMike on Jun 20, 2008 11:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

good one mike, I love thesesaying gsp can beat silva. Thats laughable, he’s never even defended his title, and silva has cleaned out the mw division. GSP couldn’t hand wash sliva’s Jock…probably could wear it on his head though!

by kevin on Jun 20, 2008 12:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

GSP didn’t announce anything. Huerta is jumping the gun here.

GSP just said in an interview in the last 2 weeks that he has no plans to move up in weight classes anytime soon. He says he’d have to clean out WW first, and that he had quite a few more fights to win before that would be possible.

by Hardcharger on Jun 20, 2008 12:05 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Al;l of the sudden they train together at Greg Jackson’s and they are already butt buddies who dont want to fight each other?

Whatever.

I love GSP and recognize him as the best fighter that is competing at welterweight today, but he is still yet to defend his title. I wouldnt move up until at least 4 or 5 title defenses. No matter what he does, he better stay at welterweight long enough to give BJ Penn another crack at him, or I will loose all respect for him.

GSP vs. Bisping at 185…anyone?

by john on Jun 20, 2008 12:06 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Give BJ another crack at him…I totally agree. He’d better go nowhere until then. Also I’d like to see GSP defend against Alves presuming he beats Fitch…a big enough presumption. Let’s not jump the gun here.

GSP vs. Bisping…I really like that idea.

by RobH86 on Jun 20, 2008 12:20 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe BJ should worry about cleaning out the LW division before he thinks about moving up to challenge GSP? GSP is much, much closer to cleaning out WW than BJ is to cleaning out LW. If GSP beats Fitch, there may not be many fights left. Alves is one, but Alves will likely have to fight Kos or Diego first to prove he can make weight in a big fight before getting a shot at the title.

by Hardcharger on Jun 20, 2008 12:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Bingo John. GSP has yet to defend his title. Shit..he might just lose to JOn Fitch. Which would mean he still has yet to win and defend the title..not even once. Why move up to MW?? Silva has dismantled the 185 division. THe is everybody else. then there is Anderson Silva. GSP needs a bunch of title defense..to then say.. hey ..you know what I want fight at 185.

by PhilQNY on Jun 20, 2008 12:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

GSP vs Bisping? I’d saw off a testicle with a spoon to see that one! Athletically I’d say GSP. But he’d better be mentally ready, cuz if there is one thing Bisping does not lack, it’s self-confidence.

Penn needs to stay and clean out the LW division and GSP needs to stay and clean out the WW division. They can definetly move up if they want and GSP will still be defending his belt before the move so I think you guys should wait until you start getting angry about this. I’ll be straight here I don’t think anyone really hates GSP but people see that GSP might not be around for Penn to get a second shot at so they are getting uptight. If you’ve noticed GSP has lost to two people while Anderson has lost to four (don’t quote me on that I didn’t check the stats) and Penn has lost to more than that. These guys can do what they want but I’d like them to at least be fair and give the people in their division a chance to beat the champs. And one fight that I think would be amazing that I know GSP would have a hard time with… Franklin, seriously let Silva move up cause I don’t think GSP can even beat Franklin to be honest. I know Penn and GSP could probably clock everyone in the LW or WW divisions and Silva can probably do the same for his but when they move up there are people waiting to take them, like Franklin, Hendo, Rampage, Chuck, Wandy and these guys are no joke so I would like them to clean their division but if they move up there are way more fights to look forward to than just the Penn GSP fight or the GSP Silva fight or the GSP Penn Silva fight although any of those would be amazing

by Smokes on Jun 20, 2008 4:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Seriously, everybody is jumping the gun. GSP didnt say anything, Huerta just put that out there quickly when faced with the possibility of fighting GSP his newfound “friend”. Everybody be freakin out. GSP still has a threatening fight left, there is no way Dana would even talk and allow GSP to consider that given the hurdle GSP still has to get over(Fitch).

And Penn will finish the LW division before GSP finishes the WW. GSP should be preparing for Penn anyway, not Silva. And Huerta at LW, what is he gonna do move to WW without every challenging for the LW belt? IS he that affraid of Penn?

by The Anomaly on Jun 20, 2008 4:59 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No John I am not GSP’s baby mama. It just pisses me off when all you so called experts start analyzing the “rumor” of a fighter possibly moving up a weight class. This possibility wasn’t even mentioned by the fighter himself, so wait until it is official and comes from GSP himself. In the meantime enjoy the fight between Fitch and GSP and when GSP cleans his clock John, Kevin, PhilQNY and all the haters out there can critique his performance and complain about “how” he won.

Well she did interview him in a motel room, and you know what happened after that, Wham Bam!!! Now she’s on his nuts..coincidence ever since Burkman lost to Swick?? GSP and I have "same similarities’??? That’s like saying a short midget or a smart genius. Flo and Huerta will be a WAR. The LW and WW div’s are stacked. GSP still hasn’t successfully defended his title and hasn’t cleaned out the div yet. Maybe late next year there will be some weight class movements, but not this year.

If GSP can defend his title against Jon Fitch, BJ Penn, Alves and Diego at Welterweight, then yeah he should probably move up. After all he has already beaten the rest of the division like: Hughes, Karo, Serra. If Jake Sheilds would get his head out of his ass and leave EliteXC, he would make for a great opponent for GSP…Condit would do also! Basically GSP has a lot of work to do before switching divisions. But down the line GSP vs. Bisping is a must!

Anyone know who Karo’s next opponent will be?

by john on Jun 20, 2008 3:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

What about Penn moving up to early john? He hasn’t defended his belt yet and it seems likely that he’s going to try and challenge GSP before that happens. I’m sorry man but GSP has more right to move up even though he has not defended his title yet. He has beaten the old champ twice in dramatic fashion and he has dominated most fights he has been in. Penn is amazing and I don’t want to make it like he couldn’t hang in the WW division cause I know he could but GSP has not confirmed this information yet and he’s already set to defend his belt against Fitch. Alves and Diego also should have to prove themselves with another fight or so. I would actually think it’d be fair for Diego to face off against Thiago to claim the next number one contender. I think it would be a little backward for Penn to move up so here in lies who GSP should have to face next. I don’t see why if he has to wait to find the next number one contender and for Penn to start defending his belt in WW he couldn’t move up to MW for a fight to test the waters kind of like Silva is doing.

I personally like all the weight moves, it makes fights that we want to see easier to put on. I want to address something that came up yesterday. Roy and a few others called me out saying I on;y like the UFC and that I’m a baby. No my friends, I just love good fights, and am a realist. I complain about the UFC just as much as the next guy! So here are the things I like and dislike about the different organizations.
Likes:
UFC-best stable of fighters, great production value and no tune ups or easy fights!
Elite-showtime puts on good shows, stare downs before every fight and Nick Diaz!
Dream- Great fights and great crowds.

I am also very critical of mma and from what I can see, think dream is putting on the best, most consistent shows right now!
The more I think about the affliction card, the less excited I get. I want it to be a huge success, and think the main event will be great, but is thee any doubt Barnett wins? Arlovski wins? Babalu wins? And this whole megadeath thing is utterly ridiculous! I’m in my 30’s and couldn’t name a song, and the UFC could get the best performer on the planet, I’d still think it was dumb. This is a ploy to sell tickets. I went to college for business, and am wondering where the marketing is? Think of it like this, before the new Hulk came out, you heard about it…a lot! Besides us bloggers, who’s heard of the affliction card?
Sorry for being all over the place this morning, long night at work equals too much time to think!

by kevin on Jun 20, 2008 11:09 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You are absolutly right. Where is the promotion? How can they succeed. I will sum it up for you. My brother buys every single UFC PPV and is fairly knowledgeable about the sport. We always talk after an event. The other day I mentioned Silva vs. Irvin and he was pumped. Then I said Dana was sticking it to Affliction and his response,“What’s that?” I bet most people on here have an experience like that and that is the reason I think it will eventually fail.

internet, i wroteit earlier, but didn’t get posted!

by kevin on Jun 21, 2008 1:39 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Kevin I would agree that the Affliction card may not sell many paperviews. One main reason though is that the UFC has a free event the same night with one of the biggest names in the sport right now. This is just another Dana move to crush other promotions.

I do have to say that Dana may be a little bit worried about Afflicition if he is putting Silva on a free card. We will see how things go down on July 19th.

Plus I do not think that Dana has scheduled fights on the same night as any other promotion but I could be wrong about that.

by MMAFan1981 on Jun 20, 2008 11:50 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

thats the only reason? tell me who was going to buy the ppv before, and who on that card was going to sell them. Have you seen Fedor’s ppv numbers before?

by kevin on Jun 20, 2008 11:57 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

MMA as a whole is much bigger now. Plus the Affliction card has former UFC champs on it, and the Affliction brand name is HUGE among the male demographic it caters to – I wouldn’t doom their ppv numbers just yet.

by MMAjitsu.com on Jun 20, 2008 12:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dude, whenever I see someone wear an Affliction shirt, I usually ask them what they think about the PPV. Most of them DON’T KNOW THERE IS ONE.

by Pat on Jun 20, 2008 2:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Exactly… Clothing and running an MMA promotion are DIFFERENT things. Most of the people who probably wear Affliction don’t even know they’ve already entered the MMA Promotion business.

I know Penn fans say some of the dumbest things, but GSP running from Penn, HA HA HA HA!. He already beat BJ. A win over Silva will put a WAAAAAY bigger notch in his belt than beating BJ AGAIN. Ya he’s running from BJ (a guy he has already beat)to Anderson Silva. Do you realize how dumb that sounds.

by Gord on Jun 23, 2008 1:14 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Huerta isn’t even a real force at LW. The guy has heart and comes to fight, which I totally respect and appreciate, but he won’t beat kenflo, and can’t beat; Stevenson, Diaz, Pellegrino, Sherk, Lauzon, and probably several others. Just my opinion, let the hate begin.

by James S on Jun 20, 2008 11:18 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No hate here, I agree he is running from a stacked division… someone should let him know that the WW is another stacked division. Maybe he was talking about the WEC instead of the UFC. Condit would be a good fight to watch, but I’d still see Condit winning.

I still can’t understand how you are so confident in GSP. He was upset by Serra and you feel this will never happen again. Let him will 4 title defenses and then I’ll send my application to the GSP fan club…

by Arnold on Jun 20, 2008 11:28 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Why are people so confident in GSP?

Because GSP has beaten more top fighters than any other fighter at their weight class, and nearly every time, GSP has done it in dominating fashion. Plus, GSP is still only 27 and shows a rate of improvement that is incredible. GSP has one blip on the radar screen in 4 years, and a litany of other dominating, incredible performances against amazing fighters, former champs, and Top 10 guys.

by Hardcharger on Jun 20, 2008 12:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

There probably not even fighting for #1 contender. You have to keep in mind the man crush Sherk and Dana have with each other. Florian and Huerta are likely fighting for the oppurtunity to get layed on by Sherk to determine #1 contender status. Honestly, if you base it on record, nobody but kenFlo and huerta deserve to be fighting for contender status. But there are a few guys at LW, that I think, are a lot better than Huerta.

first off, I go to stockton a couple times a month because unfortunately my wifes family is there. I dread every time she wants to go. We probably know a lot of the same people. My wife trained a caesars 12-15 years ago when women didn’t train. I’m not from here, from east coast, so have no idea about stinky fingers.
As far as Gonzaga, he’s overrated just like huerta. You’re probably mexican (nothing against that, my wife is too), so thats why you’re blinded into thinking huerta is good. By the way, Nick Diaz is one of my favorite fighters, and I like you, have been watching mma since long before it was hip to do so!

oh man, eddie got owned big time by crocop. come on, I understand you don’t like fedor, but you’re stretching it a bit are you not? Just because he hasn’t fought anyone for two years? you’re buying the DW argument/hype. Will you give fedor his dues when he beats big tim?

Like James S said, record wise Huerta looks good, but there are tons of LW fighters that are better then Huerta. Huerta will lose to Florian, and Florian will lose to PEnn.

Agreed. BJ Penn wins this one by murder. Poor Roger. Then again I’d have to say I also see Florian as the favourite the 87 bout.

by RobH86 on Jun 20, 2008 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

lol at huerta talking about moving up to WW as if he has accomplished alot at LW. he’s starting to believe his own hype and that is what will destroy him in the end. he won’t get past florian and he won’t even get past BJ. hell, he could barely even get past guida (who is really a 145’er) without catching that lucky knee at the end. if he could barely get past a 145’er there is no way in hell he’s going to be a force at WW.

by bubba on Jun 20, 2008 11:47 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

agreed. I dont see Huerta doing anything at WW. GSP on the other hand could probably beat most, if not everyone, including Silva at MW.

There’s not enough bricks and rivers in Canada for GSP to get mentally prepared for fighting Silva. I’d piss myself in anticipation for that fight, but I am one of Silva’s top 5 nuthuggers and see him winning that fight.

by James S on Jun 20, 2008 12:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Please stop with the GSP hating madness. Anytime someone tries to give GSP credit you’re always trying to jump in and tell them how stupid they are. You obviously don’t like him and think he’ll get destroyed by BJ and Anderson. OK then. You’re only one person. Quit making a big deal about others thinking he’ll beat those guys. You clearly hate GSP and you fail to give an honest judgement of him as a fighter, so maybe you sghould grow up a bit and get over whatever it is thats making you hate GSP. You prolly hate him cuz he took it to BJ for two rounds after being poked in the eye and fighting with blurred vision for the entire first round. Imagine having to fight while seeing doubles….it just says enough that BJ couldn’t knock him out and that GSP fought through adversity, then regrouped, then controled the last two rounds.

There’s my opinion. I won’t whine if I hear someone who disagrees with me like you always seem to do.

by Cory on Jun 20, 2008 12:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

BJ at LW is Elite
GSP at WW is Elite
Anderson at MW is Elite

Anything above that, for any one of them becomes to much. BJ would not beat GSP and GSP wont beat Silva. Thats just the way it is. Any of them could do good at a bigger weight class but I dont think they will be so dominant.

by JV on Jun 20, 2008 1:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

GSP is not elite @ WW. elite is when you dominate wherever the fight goes. he’s just a tall wrestler thats afraid to get KOd and hasn’t defended the title yet. Thiago Alves would send him flying into the 3rd row.

by kama kaze on Jun 20, 2008 1:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Thats just you buying into the Alves hype kama kaze. Dominating is what GSP does. GSP is not a wrestler hes just using it, in his fights. Other than the BJ fight, GSP has dominated his opponents. How is he not Elite?

by JV on Jun 20, 2008 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

hey cory, I agree GSP is a good fighter…talk to me when he defends his title 2 or 3 times. Silva is elite, as is BJ. I’ll give GSP credit, he’s on his way, but not elite yet. My hate for him has nothing to do with my opinions, I ALWAYS have an open mind, and have no problem admitting he is a great fighter!

by kevin on Jun 20, 2008 2:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Thiago Alves has a realistic chance of landing a KO blow to GSP. But there’s an even better chance that GSP will control Alves like Fitch did. Yes, Alves has improved since then, but GSP is like an advanced version of Fitch.

And I agree with Kevin that GSP has little chance of beating Anderson. He’d have to KO him (we’ve seen great strikers like Cro Cop and Liddell get knocked out), or hit some crazy flying submission. I don’t see the first one happening, and there is no way in hell the second one if happening unless GSP is possessed by Shinya Aoki or Genki Sudo that night. Yes, GSP might out-wrestle Anderson (I say might b/c even though he has more wrestling skill, Anderson’s size might be too much). The benefit of great wrestling is you can take the fight to where you are better than your opponent, either on the ground, or keeping it on the feet like Chuck does. But the problem is, GSP is obviously not better than Anderson on the feet, and he’s at best on par with Anderson on the ground (Silva’s a Nog black belt).

BJ could beat Anderson, IF he can take him down, because he’s better than Anderson on the ground, and he has a solid chin that he probably won’t get knocked out. But if he can’t take it to the ground, Anderson will probably be scoring points all night on the feet, and winning a unanimous decision.

But when it comes to BJ-GSP, I’d still lean towards GSP b/c of his size and athletic advantage. I think BJ’s conditioning is at its best when he’s at 155. When he fights at 170, he’s not been at his best shape. The fact that he still beat a prime Hughes is a testament to his skill-set. BJ is the most skilled fighter, period. More skilled than Anderson and Fedor. If BJ was a natural 170 lb. fighter, he’d tool GSP (for more than one round).

by Pat on Jun 20, 2008 2:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

his standup is questionable. guys like bj & serra who have shorter reach than him can outbox him easily. i’ll bow down if GSP beats BJ or Alves decisively.

by kama kaze on Jun 20, 2008 2:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I buy into the Alves hype…actually…I wouldn’t call it hype. Alves’ last two fights were dominations of Karo and Matt Hughes. He finished Hughes quicker than GSP did in either of GSP/Hughes fights.

Alves is a complete fighter and is as big, if not bigger, than GSP.

But none of this will really matter, Jon Fitch will silence the GSP fan boys.

Don’t get me wrong, I like GSP and his faced paced and dominant fight style (against smaller fighters). Jon Fitch isn’t a smaller fighter.

by TabascoSAUCE on Jun 20, 2008 2:30 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

TabascoSAUCE, Alves is kinda hype up right now. A win over Hughes was big, but Hughes is past his prime. The Karo fight was a good legit win. Besides those two what else has he done? I say let Alves fight Swick with the winner getting a title shot.

by JV on Jun 20, 2008 2:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Kevin, talk to me when BJ defends his title 2 or 3 times. Does that sound reasonable?

IMO, BJ and GSP are 2 of the best 3 fighters in the world, regardless of how many times they have defended their belt. They’ve dominated top guys in their weight classes.

LOL at the Alves hype. The guy hasn’t made a legit 170 (championship weight, not 171) in years, and last time he did he was busted for cheating by using illegal diuretics/steroid masking agents. Fitch also beat Alves to a pulp when they fought.

by Hardcharger on Jun 20, 2008 3:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m not sure why people talk about Fitch’s size as if he’s gonna dwarf GSP. They forget that GSP regularly trains with bigger guys such as Nate Marquardt, David Loiseau, Patrick Cote, Keith Jardine, and Rashad Evans (a HW on TUF). And they don’t all fight at the same PPV’s. That means when GSP has already cut to about 180 lbs., he’s training with at least one of these guys at their walking weight (~215 lbs.).

Dominating smaller guys = losing against bigger guys? That doesn’t make sense.

Even though Fitch is a little bigger than GSP, GSP still has speed on him and the edge in skills. He doesn’t dominate Fitch in any one area, but he’s better than Fitch everywhere. Unless Fitch has been training Muay Thai in Thailand since his last fight, he probably hasn’t advanced his stand-up enough to threaten GSP there. I give Fitch a better chance than the odds would suggest, but I still have GSP winning this one.

by Pat on Jun 20, 2008 3:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hardcharger, lol. yea OK Alves is a cheater. but little technicalities doesn’t change the fact that he ROMPED 2 top 10 WWs so easily. He’s a factor. Even though he lost to Fitch, I kind of agree with Pat’s points that GSP will be ready for whatever Fitch brings whereas Alves is a tougher matchup for GSP cuz GSP’s weaknesses play into Alves’ strengths: TD defense & standup. When was the last time GSP faced a top10 striker as big as him? uhhh NEVER! 3rd row! bodies are flying!

by kama kaze on Jun 20, 2008 4:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, Alves has looked like a destroyer his last 2 fights for the most part (even though Karo won Rd 1 against him and outstruck Alves for that round). But if Alves wants to actually win a UFC title belt, he has to make weight, and he hasn’t shown he can do that without cheating.

I do think that stylistically, Alves is a tougher matchup for GSP because Alves poses a threat to win on the feet. GSP matches up very well with Fitch, even though Fitch is very well rounded.

As for your last question, how about the reverse? When is the last time Alves faced a tall, lanky WW with excellent wrestling, excellent BJJ, and good standup? Answer: Jon Fitch, who beat Alves like a rented mule.

Don’t you all think that since Dana White has talked about Anderson SIlva moving up to 205 for this next event to counter Affliction is just a ploy to get people to tune in, especially since it’s the “SPIDER”.
Because Dana then said on this site in one of his recent interviews that this is a temporary move up to 205, contradicting previous statements that this would be a move , meaning permanent
I really think that GSP vs. Anderson SIlva NEEDS to take place before SIlva goes to 205.
This move right now is, " smoke and mirrors", in my opinion.
What do you all think?

by Brendan Ormsby on Jun 20, 2008 11:52 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Without a doubt smoke & mirrors – only done to stop the casual fan from watching Fedor/Timmy fight that night. The Silva/Irvin fight is absolutely pointless, as it is rumored that 6 weeks later Spider will face Yushin for 185 strap.

by efisher on Jun 20, 2008 1:14 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

look at gsp’s last couple of fights, and look at anderson silva’s. gsp has been dominant. yes, silva has beat most all contenders in mw, okami and bisping (henderson rematch?) are the only real contenders left, but he hasn’t been nearly as dominant as gsp. silva has been MOUNTED several times, yes he still pulls off the win, but he hasn’t been as dominant in his matches. i think gsp matches up well with him, gsp’s ground game has been on another level. no one can even come close. serra, a bjj expert, and kos and hughes, both wrestling champs have been absolutely dominated by gsp. and if silva has shown a chink in his armor, it’s his ground game…

by fletcherthunder on Jun 20, 2008 1:32 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Exaclty, which is why Georges is going to dump Fitch on his ass and either submit him in an arm bar, or feed him forearms and elbows till Fitch cant see straight!

by Georges #1 on Jun 20, 2008 8:06 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yep, GSP will more than likely submit Fitch. Fitch is always getting caught in subs, but the guys weren’t strong enough to pull it off. GSP is strong enough to finish Fitch with a sub. He knows it too, that’s why he is brushing up on his BJJ. GSP within 2 rounds.

by Gord on Jun 21, 2008 2:49 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

THen it would be really funny if Anderson lost to Irvin.
HE can’t lose.
And he won’t lose.
But if, IF he does lose to Irvin then it doesn’t matter as he will be going back down to 185 anyways.
Isn’t IRVIN really a CAN fed to SILVA for the hype and hope that noone will buy the AFFLICTION ppv??

I will buy AFFLICTION’s ppv and watch spike ufc thing at another time.

I love how DAna White has now started to say that he “loves mma” not just the ufc, SURE!
I also love how he states in the last TUFF on SPIKE that He owns THIS TOWN!!!, RIGHT!
Why has no one said that not even his mother likes DANA as he and mommy white have not talked in years, due to DANA’s mommy issues.
I’d like to hear see someone interview DANA aggressively, with out being afraid. Oopie and anthony were"nuthugging" , as they got free tickets to the next UFC event.

Yeah, let’s invite a multi-millionaire onto our show to explore a potential demographic of radio listeners and then blast him with badgering questions and hope he never wants to come back onto the show again. That would spell good business. You’re clearly not in radio, are ya?

Quit hating O&A because they got free tickets. If I were in the room with Jimmy and the gang, I’d have hugged a nut or two myself for free tickets. Like you’d go and buy XM tomorrow if O&A would have simply blasted Dana? Doubt it, and I’m sure they do to.

Huerta has 15 years left in the sport, so it’s not inconcievable that could be champion. If he trains as hard as GSP, he could be incredible in 5 years. It really goes without saying that Penn is miles away right now.

by Andy on Jun 20, 2008 2:06 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Do you think Roger Huerta is going to be in the UFC all 15 years of his career? I hightly doubt it. He has 5-6 years to become a champ in the UFC, and frankly, I don’t see it happening.

He’s over hyped and Clay Guida exposed him in their last fight.

I think Kenny Florian is going to expose Huerta’s lack of a solid BJJ ground game. Huerta has faced good BJJ fighters, but, he’s never fought a more well rounded fighter than Florian. Let’s just say Roger Huerta can beat Kenny Florian…Huerta won’t get passed BJ Penn.

There aren’t many fighters that lose a title fight get a second shot. And with a stacked 155 with guys like Joe Stevenson, Diaz,, Sherk, Franca…if Huerta doesn’t do it with this opportunity against Florian, it ain’t gonna happen.

IMO – Nate Diaz is the future of the 155 division.

All I can say is thank god we got weight classes, cause all this CRAZYNESS is too much for me…..But all I can say is I’d like to see BJ and GSP first, and if GSP can take him, then hell give him a shot at Silva.

…….God wouldn’t it be crazy if GSP bet both of them, he would be the top in the world… but thats just a dream of mine that I’ve been fantasing about. Right now Silva’s at the top of the heat no question in that.

by Toad on Jun 20, 2008 2:59 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

So, what does all of this mean? How about some respect for guys like Hughes that defend a title repeatedly. Sure, the game may have passed him up, but at the time, he did what GSP and Penn have yet to prove they can do. That is, face the pressure of defending a title, fight after fight. Once Penn and GSP have done this (and they probably will), then we can all sing their un-ending praises. However, Silva is currently doing this and has little to prove in the 185lb division. So I for one, am glad to see him move up.

Also, fingers in the bum hole, What the…?

Hey Roger, I just checked out your record on Sherdog and I got to say it’s pretty impressive. All 7 wins, first round finishes (subs or TKO). Some guys on here might not be impressed because it’s not the big leages, but if you can lay waste to 3 guys in just over a minute COMBIND,that says something. Hey guys… you know what?

Anderson Silva is human!!! lol

With 4 losses!

80% of the comments i read about Silva looks like the bible of who’s talking about Jesus.

Yes, he’s a fast and very accurate striker. But if Travis Lutter got the full mount on him… what do you think a very good wrestler can do?

You look at his shape and you see that he’s not strong… so don’t be surprise if you see someday a guy pass his shots and blanket him for 5 rounds or submit him. Because yes, a black belt can be submit! He loses twice in submission so…

But since then, you prophet is still alive!
