Brock Lesnar training jiu-jitsu with Rodrigo Comprido for UFC 87 Heath Herring fight

Brock Lesnar Jiu-Jitsu training

Props: AdCombat.com

Quoteworthy:

"It is not enough that Brock Lesnar is a freak of nature with a physique that few can match, and have top trainers around like Greg Nelson (Black Belt under Pedro Sauer) & Marty Morgan (University of Minnesota Wrestling Coach). Noooo, Lesnar is taking his MMA training so seriously that he contracted multiple times BJJ World Absolute Champion Rodrigo "Comprido" to add to his preparation team. Comprido is spending time at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, adding his personal touch to Lesnar's training as he prepares to fight in UFC 87 against Heath Herring. Comprido's MMA training is in high demand especially coming off a super-successfull participation of his TEAM FLOMMA in the Adrenalin show."

Former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar-turned mixed martial artist, Brock Lesnar, has enlisted the services of seven-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Rodrigo "Comprido" Medeiros for his upcoming fight with Heath Herring at UFC 87: "Seek and Destroy" at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn., on August 9. Lesnar lost his Octagon debut to Frank Mir via first round submission (kneebar) at UFC 81: "Breaking Point" earlier this year.

I respect Brock in that he trains just as serious as any UFC fighter. He could have just taken it easy and collected paychecks, but it seems that he’s actually dedicated to the sport.

brock chose the wrong path into mma.

he should have never started in the ufc so early.

he should have tried to fight fedor before tim took the chance.

then he could have smashed fedor and came to the ufc as the guy who beat fedor.

but now heath is going to beat him.
bad move lesnar.

fedor would lose to most ufc fighters
like
heath hearing2- nog3 or 4- vera- werdum- eddie sanches- lesnar- mir- couture- gonzaga- hardonk- kongo- justin mccully- . just to name a few.

Wait one sec…Do you guys even know who Fedor is?!If not, then don’t make any bold predictions or statements…Period!!

by TheNegation on Jun 21, 2008 2:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Did I read this right? He could beat Fedor, but will lose to Herring? Trying to see the logic in that. Nope, there isn’t any.

by chefdaddy on Jun 20, 2008 10:25 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

why not chef?

when was the last time fedor fought a top fighter.

because lesnar fought one about 4 months ago.

You shouldn’t write such weird posts
you have good opinions
you need to stop pressing enter after you type a sentence
also Fedor would not lose to the texas lazy horse, eddie sanchaz lesnar mir gonzaga hardonk kongo mccully or Vera. There isn’t enough words in the English language to explain how unintelligent that comment was.

by shaze on Jun 20, 2008 10:53 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

why

i think those fighters would beat fedor.

u tell me when the last time fedor fought a top fighter, FORGET TOP- lets just say a decent opponant in the last 2 years

because all of the fighters i have listed have fought top fighters in the last 2 years-win or lose- they put their neck out and fought the best.

by ~Stinky~fingers~ on Jun 20, 2008 10:58 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Guess we’ll find out on the 19th… but still if Fedor loses to Tim and Randy, I’d give a drunken circus midget with only one functional appendage a better shot at beating him than Justin Mccully or Eddie Sanchez…

by O damn he got caught on Jun 20, 2008 11:09 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

dude get over it

fedor would loose to justin and eddie and you know it

stop thinking these guys suck because they did not make it to the ufc for nothing

fedor did not want to fight what the ufc has to offer \

he backed out of the deal not the dana or the ufc. he did

and for the record-
fedor would loose to a drunkin circus midget with one appendage AND while dragging a f’n lawn chair in her strong arm. on steroids.

so pretty much

yes!

fedor would loose to hermes franca- no question

by ~Stinky~fingers~ on Jun 20, 2008 11:16 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ok, I’ve had enough, you can talk about Fedor all you want, you can say a circus midget can take him, or even hermes franca, but the second you even insinuate that Eddie Sanchez and Justin Mccully have anything resembling talent whatsoever, I gotta draw the line… Those two suck monkey ballz, worst big name fighters in the history of MMA. yea they aren’t in the UFC for nothing, their there as the poster boys for everlast punching bags, they will never be contenders, they will never be top 10, 50, or even top 100 HW’s, THEY SUCK BALLS.

by O damn he got caught on Jun 20, 2008 11:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ok then what are your views on hong man choi?

because i do agree snachez and mccully are low end ufc HW fighters but

do you think hong man choi is better.

by ~Stinky~fingers~ on Jun 20, 2008 11:37 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sanchez may have the edge on Hong Man Choi, but HMC is better than McCully.

by James S on Jun 20, 2008 11:45 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hell yes he’s better, at least he’s been in with some decent fighters, unlike those two damn cans, hell he beat Big Daddy Goodrich and Semmy Schilt in K-1, that doesn’t count for much in regards to mma but it’s something at least..

by O damn he got caught on Jun 20, 2008 11:47 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

choi would get dewmolished by mccully and u know it

dont lie

there is not 1 ufc lhw or hw that would not beat choi

hmc is a freak show joke of a mma fighter and fedor just showed what kina level he is on fighting him and not choosing to fight in the ufc where he could of faced eddie or justin but no he pused out

by ~Stinky~fingers~ on Jun 20, 2008 11:49 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ridiculous, not only does mccully have one of the lamest nicknames i’ve ever heard of “the insane one”, he’s got a weak ass ground game, if Hardonk had known anything, ANYTHING about the damn ground and how to get up and would have won that fight, mccully is lame, and if his ground game is his strength then dear god, he’s in trouble..

by O damn he got caught on Jun 20, 2008 11:54 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hong Man Choi would actually squash the head of Eddie Sanchez and feast on the goo inside… That said I love these belligerent posts from Stinky Fingers, the Fedor fan rage cracks me up.

by Matt on Jun 20, 2008 11:57 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

bha bha haha lomfao

you just brought up k1 fights.

at least you pointed out that you post was completely POINTLESS

edddie or justin would beat choi silly in a mma fight

straight to the ground and pound him out

lol that you would say hell yes that choi would beat them

they did not make it to the ufc cause they suck!

you tell me that i dont have to like fedor but to show him respect?

respect for what- the bad decisons he has made over the last 2 years?

if i should understand that fedor isnt as bad as i make him out

then

you should understand that choi is a joke and would not last 2 mins agianst a top ufc hw fighter.

by ~Stinky~fingers~ on Jun 20, 2008 11:58 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

They shouldn’t be in the UFC, and mccully hasn’t even fought since Hardonk, which by the way had to be one of the most boring fights I’ve seen in a long time, Mccully’s ground game is weak at best, and his striking apparently is even worse. If Hardonk had known anything, ANYTHING about the damn ground he would have been able to get up and knock out that tubby piece of no talent lard. Sanchez just sucks all around, Clinch more Eddie.. Hold on for dear life and hope to god you make it to a decision with your complete lack of skill..

by O damn he got caught on Jun 20, 2008 12:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Do UFC have any top HW fighters left? Besides the mighty Sanchez and McCully combo of course… Just imagine what a force they’d be if they trained together… DAMN!

by Matt on Jun 20, 2008 12:05 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

P.S. I never said HMC was any good, or even a top notch HW, but he’s for damn sure better than those two cans, Sanchez and Mccully, horrible, absolutley dreadful fighters..

Much respect to Brock. I do not like the unwarranted attention he has gotten in the sport, but I appreciate his respect for the sport and his dedication to become a true mma fighter.

Also, after watching UFC 81 Brock vs. Mir about 20 times, I feel that Brock got screwed! Mir was close to being finished and Mazzagatti bailed him out. I feel for Brock, he deserved the win against Mir! Now Mir is getting an unwarrented title fights. Lets be real, Frank Mir isnt even a top 10 heavyweight and he is getting a title shot….this is fight like Lutter vs. Anderson!

Dear Dana White, when did fighters who arent even in the top 10 start getting title shots in your organization?

by john on Jun 20, 2008 3:45 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Man, he should train some kick boxing, this guy could sprawl and brawl and he’s probably got knock out power in both hands if trained right.

by O damn he got caught on Jun 20, 2008 10:05 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, if he becomes well rounded (which props to him, he’s trying), he’s gonna be downright scary. Just caught his match with Mir for the first time, and he lost due to lack of experience. A lot of HWs are NOT going to want to step in the cage with him!

by chefdaddy on Jun 20, 2008 10:09 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If Brock can get some decent BJJ skills he will be an absolute monster in this division. Agree with you Chefdaddy, Brock is going to be call out a lot more names than fighters calling him out.

His fight with Mir was strange, got stopped really fast for illegal blows unlike Florian against J-Lo few more seconds of legal hammer fists would have TKO Mir who was turtling up.

by UKmmaBOY on Jun 20, 2008 10:47 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Brock’s hammer fists didn’t look to be hurting Mir that badly? Mir just kept moving looking to grab an arm or some type of submission. I think it was a horrible matchup for Brock; Herring should be a good match to watch.

by Arnold on Jun 20, 2008 11:10 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

They weren’t demolishing him, but Mir was turtled up and if Brock had thrown actual punches, he would have overwhelmed him. IMO. But he knows that now, due to a little more experience.

by chefdaddy on Jun 20, 2008 1:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i wouldn’t say they weren’t hurting. Mir said they were hurting himself. i believe the quote was that he was seeing flashes of white and was on the verge of going out.

by kitsunex on Jun 20, 2008 6:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Lesnar is the man, this fight is gonna be the start to the road towards earning the title.

by Brian on Jun 20, 2008 10:06 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Brock is for real. From the day in the UFC, he came in wanting no BS type match up. Him fighting Frank Mir in his 2nd Pro MMA fight says alot. His Ufc all access was tuf. Brock with 20 Pro fights under his belt..would put a beating on Mir if they were to rematch in the future.

by PhilQNY on Jun 20, 2008 10:07 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Phil, ABSOLUTELY!!!

Brock must punch like a Mac Truck…he threw that straight Right and Mir Dropped to the canvas, and then he got the heel hook/knee bar

by john on Jun 20, 2008 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

dude, that guy in the red shorts is even bigger than Brock!!

by xocgx on Jun 20, 2008 10:18 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Okay, this might sound a little strange, but it seems like Lesnar’s Pecs are way lower than normal. Maybe that gives him some weird strength advantage. Like take the other dude in red shorts for example, he’s a big guy, but he’s got regular size pec muscles. Where as Lesnar is sporting some freakishly oversized chest. Allright…that’s enough…and I love women.

i think stinky fingers in on glue. there is no way brock
will lose to half those guys on ur list. And how the hell do
you have him beating Fedor but losing to dirty sanchez, or mcully or hardonk. your nuts man. start watching more closely.
I think if brock gets past hearing he will definately be
someone to be scared of. and he is going to roll through heath
 via TKO

Stinky Fingers I hope you change your tune once Fedor beats Timmy – your logic won’t work after that happens. If Tim wins, hey, you get a big sigh of relief for not sounding foolish. I obviously don’t agree with you, but will wait to say your completely wrong until that fight takes place.

by efisher on Jun 20, 2008 11:08 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

With Brock’s gorrilla hands, he should learn how to use a Muay Thai plum or Greco clinch. That would be like having someone in a vice. No escaping that shit.

by Pat on Jun 20, 2008 11:15 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

No shit, the dude IS a big white gorilla. He is scary…scary in the kind of way Arlovski used to be…accept I thought Brock looked nervous during his entrance but then he went apeshit and started donkey kongin’ Francisco like some crazed animal that had just escaped from the zoo.

I like Brock, I think he can go far. He seems to have a great attitude. In 3 years, he may well hold the UFC heavyweight belt..Bold statement I know. In 3 years I could see him doing a Fedor g’n’p job on an over the hill Nog (presuming Nog holds onto it that long). He’s a freak of nature.

by RobH86 on Jun 20, 2008 12:07 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If Brock gets good at BJJ hes going to destroy HW fighters. If he gets an armbar, hes taking that arm off. If he gets a choke, that head is coming off. In the Mir fight he dropped Mir with a jab, so it looks like he has power. I hope he trains in all areas of his striking & kicks too.

Let’s not forget the same three guys (Mike Russow, Terry Martin, and Herc Hayes) that Comprido trains also train out of Team No Ego, so lets give credit where it’s due. You will see guys using multiple camps to get better training and capitalize on each camp’s strengths,

Dana White made a huge mistake in signing Brock Lesnar…..he keeps saying how safe it is in MMA. Well it ain’t safe for anyone in the heavyweight division now. Brock is gonna kill someone hahaha. I can’t wait for his next fight.
