That was a rather good Dana interview.
When asked if the UFC has anyone that can beat Fedor, he said that they do. I wonder what HW he can possibly be referring to? The champ (nog) has already lost a couple of times, and the #1 contender is Frank Mir. I don’t think that anyone in the UFC HW division can beat him.
I also laughed when he said that Urijah Faber would destroy Kimbo. I think that the 90 lb weight difference would come into play there. If Faber got the takedown, he’d own Kimbo if Kimbo couldn’t get up. But standing, you gotta like Kimbo. Interesting…
The title of the thread makes it seem like its all about Randy, but its not, its a great listen!

“I don’t think that anyone in the UFC HW division can beat him.”
I meant to say “I don’t think that anyone in the UFC HW division can even hang with him, nevermind beat him.”

Cant argue with anything u posted. UFC has no Heavyweight that can deal with Fedor. Urijah is great but I dont think he can beat too many professional Heavyweight fighters.
The funniest part was when the guys conducting the interview said: “so basically, Kimbo is like the William Hung of mma”….Thats too funny!
Dana frustrates me because he has done so much for the sport, he is a pretty cool dude, with some funny stories, but then he feeds us B.S to make it look like the UFC is greater then Everything. By now, everyone knows the UFC is the top mma brand, he does not have to diminish the skills of other companies fighters…it looks dumb. Just like he looked dumb when he signed Wandy, and was all giddy like a school girl after years of talking trash about him. U r the supperior brand, No need to talk trash about others. Its usually the lessor man that talks trash about the big dog, trying to make noise and get attention,….Dana just needs to realize that he is the big Dog and that he doesnt havce to do this.
Who was trying to shake Dana down?

True Story… and on " who was trying to shake him…" they’re ghost. They are not messing with him no more. His contact book on his cell is intmadating.

The guy who was trying to shake him down was Whitey Bulger. If Bulger came after you, no matter who you are, you would be crapping your pants. Look him up if you don’t know who he is. The character that Jack played in The Departed was losely based on Whitey Bulger, and he was on the FBI’s most wanted list at number 2, underneath Bin Laden.

I like Nog, but I would never say he would kill Randy. Tim and Gonzaga were supposed to kill Randy too. It would be a great fight that we will probably never see, but Randy could definately win that fight.

Huh? He didn’t whoop CB!! He was losing badly on the cards. He pulled a rabbit out of his hat with that arm bar. I give him mad props for that. He has no quit in him. Even taking a pounding, he doesn’t fold up his tent he keeps looking for something. Hard to not like a guy like that. He has earned my respect. But he didn’t whoop him.

You summed it up well. That whole fiasco just left me completely ambivelant towards Randy. The only fight of his I care to see is when Fedor mops the cage with him. And I barely want to see that anymore. Second thought, I’d love to watch Nog submit him, just so he knows that there was more than the Fedor fight that was worth his while.

Linx: Great Question, I too am curious to see what Dana will say when Tim gets crushed by Fedor..
Question: Predict what white will say after Fedor crushes Tim?

Answer: Tims a bum…he wasnt a bum when he was in UFC, but hes a bum now cuz Fedor only whoops on bums.
by JoeyVitaminB12 on Jun 19, 2008 12:12 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Answer. Tim has let the sport evolve around him. 5 years ago, he would kick Fedor’s F@#king head off. Let’s face it, if Tim still had it, he wouldn’t be out of the UFC, he doesn’t though, so he’s F@#king gone. Period. I like Tim, he’s a friend, but he’s no longer a top ten heavyweight and the UFC only wants the best fighters period. Is Fedor top 10? Hell no, you have to beat a top 10 to be in the top 10, I’ll put him maybe top 20 and that’s being F@#king nice.

THats why I clown Tito as much as I do! Dana is not lying about Tito! No respect for Jacob, happy that he wont take up a spot on UFC televised cards any longer!
How about u stop calling people from other countries,“Crazy F’in Russians”!
Who was trying to shake dana down?
Dana stop trying to insult my intelligence and trying to justify not having Fedor in the UFC. “Fedor is a farce”….what a JOke!
So chuck beats Rashad and gets a rematch? Sorry until the UFC starts putting up the best vs. the best on a constant basis for title fights, instead of matching up title fights for who is most marketable…..the UFC cant be considered a sport.
If the NBA acted this way we would see the Celtics vs. Lakers every year!
Funniest thing I have ever heard in my life: “Kimbo Slice is the William Hung of mma” LMFAO!!!
I would like to see Dana’s house on MTV cribs!
“Like I am supposed to give a F**k if this guy likes my pool or not”, “your going to have to take a cruise missle to take my pool down”! Pretty Funny stuff!

I think Tito’s a tool too.
If someone is from Russia and is crazy, isn’t it ok to call them “Crazy f’n Russian”?
Fedor is a farce… hasn’t fought legit HW competition since 05.
I agree with you that I’d like to see more of a merit-based matchmaking system for title shots, but to sayt he UFC isn’t a sport until they stop allowing marketability to dictate high end matchups? that’s just weird man. You figure the NBA in particular, but all the other sports don’t do things to have larger market teams benefit? Cmon man.
Good comments overall, I’m not trying to fight with you in the least. Funny stuff, good comments man.

Im not trying to say its not a sport now, but to fans that have a clue, it would be more ligitimate if Dana just let the chips fall where they may. Champions should fight the most deserving fighter of a title shot….Simple as that!
To be the man you have to beat the man! Nog was the man, Fedor beat him twice, therefor Fedor became the man…since then no one has beat him, therefor he is still the man. Fedor has never lost a round since joing pride over 5 years ago. Its not like he doesnt want to fight tough guys. He has been trying to fight Randy, he just didnt want to sign a B.S contract with the UFC. Now he is willing to fight Sylvia…doesnt look like he is ducking tough competition. It looks like he wants whats best for him contract wise and the time is right, to now step up and shut all the dumb doubters up!
IMO, if mma ended today, Fedor would go down as the best of all time! Thats just my humble oppinion.

They hype sports events by reminding people that a player IDK say TO used to play for the Eagles when its a Dallas Eagles game, just like they hype the fights in the MMA world. I don’t think its fair to say one is more legit than the other because then your saying the fighters records are not legit as well. I think if you were to give the people who were deserving a shot things would be just as complicated. I know what your saying but no matter what if you let the chips just fall they get all crunched up. The UFC also is not the only org to do their sometimes un deserved title shots (say Rampage getting a straight shot against Chuck) but sometimes it works. If there were a possible way to rank people so that one person was definetly ranked higher than another then all the top 10 ranks should be the same. They are not and if you notice most of the top guys are UFC fighters. Its just complicated to fairly give fighters their shots.

The NBA actually does act that way. How bout LA in 2000 vs the Trail Blazer and again in 2002 vs the Kings or this year vs the Spurs. If you don’t think they try to get the more marketable teams in the finals your kidding yourself.

You know whats getting more annoying than Randy being “a money hungry asshole that would get worked by fedor or nog”, is these stupid people on here who think they know what is going on between Dana White and Randy. I dont know personally what is going on and neither do you so shut up. Randy was my hero and always will be. Quit getting so damn offended. He has always fought for his fans and given a few of the best fights in mma history. And seriously, Randy isnt Tim or CroCop, or any of the other morons who gave Nog Or Fedor an arm or a leg. They wouldnt sub him because he is far to savvy and seasoned for that, and if Randy got knocked out by either of these guys i would post a formal apology on this site. Im not saying it would be impossible for them to win, but im saying it wouldnt be impossible for Randy to win, so quit acting like they would walk through Randy just cause you like seeing Nog get beat on for 10 minutes then pulling off the “miraculous” sub. And the minority of you that quit “supporting” Randy, and turned your back on him good, because you were never truly a fan in the first place, and quit making dumb comments like he used to be your hero. Thats not true, because you dont turn your back on your heros over something you dont truly understand. Now bring on the Pride pushers, lets here how dumb and dillusional i am for thinking there is any way Randy could beat your gods Fedor and Nog.

Let’s look at a couple reasons why Randy left
1. Money – Randy lied about his pay and it was proven with actual check stubs that Randy cashed.
2. Fedor – Dana and the UFC cannot be faulted for thier failed attempt to sign a premadonna with unrealistic terms and conditions. He should fault Fedor not Dana.
If you know of any others please let me know because these are the ones that stick out to me. Their are obvious personal issues at play here and we may never know who is at fault there. The UFC was always good to Randy. He was the 2nd highest paid fighter and was given title shot after title shot with a questionable record. If you choose to support a lyer that is your business, I will never support him and I will always voice my disgust for Randy.

Dave,
I think your comments are well made, but I don’t completely agree. Is it ok if I offer a different opinion without being a pride pusher or screaming money hungry ahole at you? Ha!
I was a fan of Randy b/c of what he appeared to symbolize. You state that anyone who turned on Randy was never a true fan b/c we don’t know all the details of the issue. you’re absolutely, 100% right that we don’t know all the details. I take issue with you saying we were never fans if we abandon him b/c of something we don’t understand.
We don’t EVER understand all of what’s going on with someone else, even when it’s going good. We can agree on that, right? So that leads me to say that anytime ANY of us are a fan of a fighter or an athlete of any kind, we’ve chosen to like them largely based on what they stand for in our own minds. That’s what fanhood is all about; why else would someone develop deep and passionate fanhood for a pro sports team? It stands for something to them.
Randy stood for overcoming odds, hard work strategic game planning, never quitting, all the sorts of Captain America values and virtues that one man punching another man in the face could possibly stand for. So when the ugliness of breaching a contract broke out, the reasons I root for him took a big hit.
Now I don’t hate on Randy, and I’m not going to call him names, but I’m not rooting for him anymore either. I would like to see him fight, but he should have honored his contract and fought other HWs in the UFC. Randy vs Nog woulda been a heckuva fight.
by TeamPriapism on Jun 19, 2008 1:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree here cause in all of Randy’s fights he is a man overcomming some sick odds. A lot of the same reason Matt Hughes is a hero to me even though he cant beat GSP, Penn and he just lost to Thiago. But Randy really burns me with the fact that he came back and beat a friend in Tim Sylvia, and it was because Sylvia was slouching. Not saying he couldn’t beat Sylvia again but I know it’d be a tough bout and Randy would need a new game plan. On top of that he beat an over hyped Gonzaga, again its impressive but it doesn’t mean your the best in the world. There are so many HW’s including Fedor and Nog that Randy could fight. I really think Fedor, Nog, AA, Barnett all could beat Randy but don’t get me wrong I think Randy could beat them but again Randy would be the underdog. He just burned a lot of people with the way he acted in the situation but don’t worry the UFC burned a lot of people with the way they treated Randy but in the end the way I see it they Dana (and the UFC) and Randy disrespected the fans and the fans were the ones who lost out

Dana White is a tremendous business man and is very good for MMA. His only downfall is bad mouthing fighters especially those not in the UFC. Personally I would like to see Kimbo and Fedor among others in the octagon. But why would you work for a boss that has publically insulted you.
by Holdin_Ropes on Jun 19, 2008 11:14 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I agree with you. If Dana is so confident in his analysis of other organization’s fighters he should start bragging on them a little. Then he could invite them to the UFC and watch them get crushed. If he invited Kimbo to the UFC for a fight that would sell alot of PPV’s. Let Lesnar crush him. It doesn’t make any sense to bash those guys unless the UFC is attacked first. UFC brand is best and everybody knows it. Dana has nothing to prove. He should start using this to his advantage.

Chainlink: I would love to see your scenario happen! Dana wants to talk trash about othrer fighters, well prove it. Bring them over and let them get crushed and send them back to their B-level organization with there tail between their legs.
Dana could invite most of the best fighters not signed to the UFC for 1 fight, and have them crushed by one of his fighters because Dana has a ton of top fighters. He has the option to find the best stylistic match up for the fighters he invites and have them crushed with the exception of Fedor and Kid Yammamoto
The problem is Dana doesnt really give out 1 fight contracts. If he is going to bad mouth other fighters, prove it to us. you have all the resources available. So what if 1 of the UFC fighters loose, it wont be the down fall of the UFC thats for sure. Chuck got destroyed in Pride and he is still the UFC’s posterboy, so WTF!

I like Dana White and I think I side with him most of the time. But him talking bad about Fedor is taking away from his credability. Fedor beat Nog twice. Nog is the current champ of the UFC. So, unless Dane wants to claim that Nog got that much better since 2005, and Fedor got worst… only then will Dana have a right to bad mouth Fedor.. But the way I see it, a guy that got dominated by Fedor twice is now the Champ….and there is no reason to think that another fight between them would not end up the same way….Fedor is the man he already proved it, and talking bad about him is not going to make people forget about it……Although some of the bums that post on here bought into it when the original negotiations with Fedor fell through. Fedor is not a farce he already proved it and has a 25-1 (or something like that) record to proove it. I like Randy but look at his record, it’s not that impressive, and he luckboxed his way in to more title fights then anybody. I mean who else gets KO back to back, and then gets a title shot at a different weight class?
But I do see Randy coming back to UFC now, cause the hype would be so big for that, Randy would stand to make a fortune…..

The Japanese promotions are gonna do just fine because their primary market is different from the UFC’s primary market. So it’s not direct competition. But all the North American promotions will struggle because the UFC has a stranglehold on the market. Most people won’t buy more than one PPV a month.

I hope Randy comes back and beats Nog’s ass. I just don’t see Randy going back. He just needs to swallow his pride and come back to the UFC and show everyone that he can dominate Nog.

but i think that fedor traded punches with tim tim would ko him fedor is boring to watch his face says it all

“fedor is boring to watch”
lol, what. the reason fedor gets overhyped (other than being undefeated) is he’s the most exciting fighter in the heavyweight division
by aa on Jun 19, 2008 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Who cares about this two sided BS we all know that the fedor/randy fight has to happen. The Tim/Fedor fight could go either way and randy will fight fedor after this fight unless fedor chickens out.

lol @ fedor’s mgmt wanted to build a stadium with him? wtf?! HAHA! the whole interview was hilarious and true except for when he was capping on Fedor, cmon now. lets not kid ourselves on that 1. those guys are so lucky that they got free Rampage/Griffen tickets. damn, if BJ fights GSP in Hawaii Aloha Stadium, I’m there.

Is that all Dana can say? Also, I love how Tito is so deep in his head he still has to bad mouth him after Tito has pretty much left makes me laugh all the time!

there is no way in hell that the UFc will ever be bigger than the NFL. Secondly there is absolutely no way ever in hell any sport will ever be a big as soccer. Arrogance will be dana’s downfall. Soccer is worldwide the biggest sport and always will be. if you disagree you are retarded. The only place in the world that soccer isn’t huge is canada and the u.s.
by SpiderStyle on Jun 19, 2008 4:24 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Dana is awesome. I don’t care if he drops a few F bombs. Tito does suck and cant compete with the elite fighters in the ufc. Dana is also man enough to say he wants Randy back because he can still compete.

Well you can’t always get what you want. I want Don Frye back in the UFC too, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

I hear ya, but I hate soccer and would love for MMA to pass it in popularity wouldn’t you?
by Rumbler on Jun 19, 2008 5:36 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I wouldn’t, soccer is my religion. You might only get americans to agree with you, the reality of the matter is that soccer is the most watched sport in the ENTIRE WORLD. there is no way MMA (which I love) or any other sport such as basketball, or american football would pass soccer in popularity, no way.

I’m with you on that linx. I love a lot of sports, but soccer has my heart.

fighting a middleweight olympic wrestler and some guy who was about double his size and winning dont affect his legacy
2 wins over NOG and the rest of the pride victories make him the legit HW champ of the world
randy hasnt fought for 6months or so does that mean hes no longer a true HW fighter… thought not…
someone like arlovski or sylvia with huge KO power and fast hands stands a chance
randy doesnt
there is nothing he can do to stop fedor and with father time against him id say he is just about done
dana has done so much for this sport… without him + frank and lorenzo ufc would have died before most people even heard of it
i find him quite amusing and very articulate
he is like joe rogan and loves the sport and can speak about it with so much ease and passion
he does say some stupid things like fedors fighting bums and hes a farce
at the same time is the president of pepsi ever going to say cocacola tastes nice… so i can fully understand why he says things about the “competition”

Good interview. I like Dana and I also like Joe. I have pictures with both of them. I would like to talk to Dana one day and thank him for everything he has done for this sport.

Getting Randy back in the UFC would be the smartest thing Dana White would have done in a long time. If we dont get him, Affliction will claim another great ex heavyweight champion of the UFC.

A lot of people hate Dana White but a reality check for you all is this…this site would have never been created if Dana White did not take a company in the red and make it into what it is today. MMA would have continued to be a carnival of sorts in large gyms and sanctioning would still be an issue globally. Thank you Dana and thank you to the poster who posted this audio.

Why is everyone calling Fedor a Russian? He was born in the Ukraine which at the time was a part of the USSR. Russia is a seperate country just like the Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus, etc. Yes, his family moved to Russia when he was a child but by birth he is Ukrainian. If you were born in the United States and then moved to Finland would that make you Finnish? I think not. Sorry for the above rant. I was just getting sick of the whole “Russian” mentality.

Fedor hasn’t fought anyone???
He completely destroyed the current UFC champion TWICE and Pride fighters hold the heavyweight, light-heavyweight and middleweight titles.
Dana White was a Boxercise Instructor and ran a commercial fitness gym. There is no evidence he ever competed in amateur boxing. He conveniently forgets to point out that it was the Fertitta brothers who purchased the UFC and continued to pump money into it, despite losing an estimated US$40m by 2005.
The Fertittas were VERY close to selling the UFC and the only thing that saved the UFC was them investing US$10m into producing The Ultimate Fighter (a direct clone of SpikeTVs Tough Enough).
The UFC suceeded in spite of Dana White, not because of him.
