UFC 86 video hype for 'Jackson vs Griffin' on July 5

Here's the extended version for the pay-per-view (PPV) slated for the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada:

In addition to the championship bout, UFC President Dana White and Joe Rogan go through the co-feature of the evening between Ricardo Almeida and Patrick Cote. And White says that the winner is "in line" for a title shot -- it's not a guarantee. There's a big difference there.

“And my ass is naturally black… I’m tellin’ ya!” Rampage via TKO Rnd 2.

by Tricky Nick on Jun 16, 2008 8:45 PM EDT reply actions

FIRST OF ALL,the only guy who can fight and claim that his ass is black is Bas Rutten.I seen the guy on fight science, and he kicks harder than a 35 mph car wreck alright, hes a monster and would eat forrest’s family, hes the baddest man in the universe. He’s an animal,he slapped kimbo in his face and made his children cry alright.

this has nothing to do with rampage’s ass,

maybe because his ass has nothing to do with this fight,

but i think he will win lol.

Rampage .. don’t pull a GSP here .. you got this one! Send Forest back down the rankings to where he belongs: rematching Keith Jardine.

RAMPAGE WILL LOSE THIS FIGHT IN THE SECOND ROUND… JUST WAIT AND SEE FORREST WILL MAKE QUINTON HIS BITCH!!

I know I would be ignorant to say that Forrest has no chance of winning but man I do not like his chances in this fight, same with Patrick Cote.

I agree with both fights, I don’t see it happening for those guys.

by Haze on Jun 16, 2008 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions

I will not debate this fight any longer! Personally, I do not want to talk to ANYONE that thinks this will be a real fight, instead of the quick SLAUGHTER that it will be!

I will be happy to debate any competitive future fights with anyone on this site, This is just not one of them!

I feel bad for those who think Forrest stands a chance at seeing round 3! lol

Rampage keeps saying “ass whoopin” he’s gona look real stupid if he looses. Lets go Forrest!!!

by JV on Jun 16, 2008 9:30 PM EDT reply actions

Early round 2 tko for page. I dont see any place where forrest is better the rampage, but theres always a chance for a freak thing.

by alex on Jun 16, 2008 9:39 PM EDT reply actions

I find it funny how everyone is talkin about how much of a of a beatdown Page is going to give Forrest and then add at the end of your analysis “but any freak thing can happen”.
Forrest has a legitimate chance just from being the warrior that he is, except not many people want to admit it, because he is overpowered in the other categories. Oh well, the more people that bet on Page, the better pay out I will get on Forrest.

by c-war on Jun 16, 2008 9:53 PM EDT reply actions

I’ve been saying this for weeks. I don’t understand the no faith in Forrest? But after seeing Forrest/Shogun, Forrest should get alittle credit.

by JV on Jun 17, 2008 8:32 AM EDT up reply actions

I am with you JV. A bunch of Rampage frontrunners around here…

Give Forrest some respect!

by OJR on Jun 17, 2008 10:17 AM EDT up reply actions

“Forrest has a legitimate chance just from being the warrior that he is,”…. so is that to mean Rampage is not a warrior?

by James S on Jun 17, 2008 6:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Mannnnn this is my thing Quinton is a boss forrest took out shogun kicked his ass and made him tap out forrest is no a push over but Quintons Mental game is there and its not the same Quinton as when shogun last seen him its going to b a stand up war but Quinton “Rampage” Jackson Via KO

by droc on Jun 16, 2008 9:56 PM EDT reply actions

I am not a Shogun fan because I have only seen a few of his fights, but that was by far the worst fight I have seen him in, the guy was gassed after the first round he was complete crap. I said it before that the way he fought it looked like Elvis Sinosic could have beaten him. People keep talking about how great Forrest was in this fight, but the fact is Shogun was crap. How can people use this fight as some sort of measurement on how great Forrest will perform against Rampage. Do you honestly think Rampage will be huffing and puffing after the first round and look like he is going to collapse after the second round. Forrests fight with Tito was much more impressive and Jardines fight aginst Chuck was better than both of those. Rampage is better in everyway than Forrest. Forrest does have a punchers chance but he’ll need a lot of punches though,Forrest went down quicker from Jardines shots than Rampage did from Silvas knees. Rampage is new and improved and he is going to give Dana’s butt buddy a beating. Forrest has a lot of heart, but he is out of his league.

by Ade on Jun 17, 2008 6:26 AM EDT up reply actions

No chance, out of his league, dude all of this was already said when it was Forrest/Shogun. Forrest is a big LHW, he’s got good kicks and probably has reach advantage.

by JV on Jun 17, 2008 8:43 AM EDT up reply actions

ADE: THat was the most intelligent post that I read all day. Good stuff man!

I think its hilarious how people want to measure Forrest’s ability by when he fought Shogun, who had no ACL in one of his legs. For anyone that has ever seen Shogun, it was obvious that was not the real Shogun. Lets foprget the Shogun fight for a second. What has Forrest Done:

Beat a 1 legged Shogun

Bored us to death in a crap of a fight against Hector Ramirez..LMFAO he let Hector go to a decision with him….what a joke

Lost to Tito

Lost, Got Ko’ed by Jardine

Won vs. the king of all gate keepers Evis Sinosic

won vs. Bill “Who ???” Mahood

Spent 6 rounds (2 fights) punching Bonner in the face at full force a bout a million times, and NEVER put Stephan away

This is hardly the resume I expect out of a number 1 contender in the best division in all of mma. WHAT A JOKE!!!

by john on Jun 17, 2008 9:07 AM EDT up reply actions

Just a question.

How much crow will you eat if Forrest does not get “slaughtered?”

You are talking alot of smack.

I bet you had GSP “whooping” Serra the first time, too, huh?

I am not a Forrest fanatic but the amount of disrespect you are showing is amazing…

by OJR on Jun 17, 2008 10:22 AM EDT up reply actions

Bet u I called 85% of the major upsets that have happened in the past 2 years in the UFC! No I wont eat any crow because he wont loose, and if he does loose I will loose about $2,000 which will hurt enough, I wont be bothered by what u new TUF nuthuggers have to say.

Forrest punched Stephan Bonner (who doesnt have half the chin that Rampage has) about 1,000 and Stephan didnt slow down. If Rampage punches anyone that many times….THey DIE!!!

I hope all u TUF-Only-loosers put your money where your mouth is and bet on Forrest. Its easy to call upsets. I will give you props when you call an upset and have the ballz to bet big on it!

Im backing C-WAR here, We all saw what Shogun did to Rampage, and even though Rampage is a different Fighter, Forrest Is gonna cause a lot of problems for Rampage. How will Rampage be on his back? Forrest is awesome on his back! Forrest has better striking then Hendo’s “Close my eyes and swing for the fences” Your not gonna see that from Forrest. AND Forrest has the Couture Factor…Maybe the best gameplan creater EVER!!! So when we see Rampage on his back getting Bombs thrown on him from half guard Dont be surprised.
Im Not saying Forrest is gonna win for sure not at all. But this is gonna be a fight that can go either way you just gotta look at this as an MMA fight, not a wrestling match, or a Boxing fight.

by Josh on Jun 16, 2008 10:03 PM EDT reply actions

How will Rampage be on his back? u really think Forrest is going to be able to take Rampage down? Interesting, yet somewhat LAUGHABLE!!!!!

by john on Jun 17, 2008 9:08 AM EDT up reply actions

Rampage looked pretty good on his back vs Henderson to me.
This is a very difficult fight for Forrest. I just don’t see it heppening for him in many, many ways.

rampage is gona whoop forest ass
some poeple are saying forest is gona win it could be possible anything can happen that why it mma but seriously if forest stands with him he gettin droped if they goto the ground page will impose his will he hundred times stronger and he wants this more then forest

by bigty on Jun 16, 2008 10:47 PM EDT reply actions

Rampage is OK. Where are the multitude of fights other champs have fought in the same time frame? Looks more like Rocky having an agle to hod on to the belt longer than he deserves to. Forrest…maybe not but send in Vanderlai to whopp his ass………….again. He’s overrated.

by Griff on Jun 21, 2008 2:42 AM EDT up reply actions

I’m thinking Cote by first round TKO. He’s been on a roll lately and Almeida has been KO’d before. BUT, Cote has also shown weakness against top level BJJ guys like Lazy-Lutter. I think I’ll still bet on Cote. He’s made me lose $ his last two fights so He’d baetter make it back for me this time.
And Page will make forest cry again. I think Hendo has better ground control than Forest and he couldn’t do anything to rampage.

by Mattchupichu on Jun 16, 2008 11:08 PM EDT reply actions

In reply for Josh. I think Randy Couture could step in for Forrest and the outcome would still be the same. Win Rampage. Not necessarily a KO…TKO…but a win. This guy is on his game and has been on his game since the day he stepped in the octagon. True he never finished off Hendo. And Forrest does have better striking than Hendo. But Hendo has by far a better chin than Forrest IN MY OPINION and possesses a much more disciplined wrestling/takedown game than Forrest. That however didn’t help Hendo and will be the downfall for Forrest.

If I was going to put my money on an underdog. I would have to go with the underdog Cote. Think Cote has a better fighters chance. Due to possessing more power in his strike than Almeida. Guess only time can tell if UFC 86 turns out to be a complete bust for me or payday.

by TBlades07 on Jun 16, 2008 11:08 PM EDT reply actions

I assume “in line” for a title shot means that Almeida gets the title shot if he wins, and Cote gets to face someone else higher up if he wins. The UFC is trying to bring in some competition for Anderson, and Almeida is probably who they have in mind.

by Saint Gasoline on Jun 16, 2008 11:19 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah completely agree, no way would they give Cote a shot.

The thing is in the M/W division there is a whole lot of shrugging shoulders going on as to who can effectivly challenge Silva.

Obviously Okami is well in line but does anyone really think he has a change?

Thing is with Almeida is i don’t think his standup is strong enough to allow for his Jits to come into play.

I say rush a couple of more fights for Hendo get him back in the win bracket then give him another shot.

by Nick J on Jun 17, 2008 7:22 AM EDT up reply actions

chance not change… damn it.

It’s funny to hear you guys praying for a forrest miracle face the facts neither shogun or silva can take rampage now i though he has finish but after the chuck fight and the henderson fight (remember what dan did to silva) I not goning to put blind faith in forrest. rampage has a chin of steel it took tons of knee strikes to finish then and he’s great now. on the ground he’s to strong you’ll have enough problems just trying to keep him down much less submit him this is no kimbo slice don’t put yourself in the position of sounding like a fool on july 6.

by wizdom on Jun 16, 2008 11:36 PM EDT reply actions

if your referring to Hendo’s knockout of Wandy then you can go ahead and stowe it, Wanderlei was jacked up for that fight running 100 degree fever and shouldn’t have been in the ring in the first place, but being the warrior that he is still stepped in to take on Hendo at maybe %50. That knockout would never happen again…

by O damn he got caught on Jun 17, 2008 3:21 PM EDT up reply actions

I am glad there are so many people who think Forrest can beat Rampage. I am looking forward to winning their money on July 5. I don’t normally bet, but this is like taking candy from a baby!

by DrPepper on Jun 17, 2008 1:03 AM EDT reply actions

I hope this turns out to be a great fight. I would hate to see Rampage or Forrest get KO’d in the first round. I want to see a 5 round war.

Cote by KO

" Donkey kong’d him in the middle of the ring "

by Sour Diesel on Jun 17, 2008 1:25 AM EDT reply actions

Here’s the only way I can see Forrest pulling this one off, stay on the outside with his reach advantage and stick and run and stick and run. He might be able to get Rampage down but I don’t see him being able to do any real damage and I don’t think he will be able to keep him down. Rampage by tko in round 2 or 3.

by brac on Jun 17, 2008 1:36 AM EDT reply actions

I totally agree. I donno I am not quick to write off Forrest, I think it is because I witnessed that lyoto tito fight. If forrest can jab and maneuver around and just be annoying he could get a decision. No way he finishes it though unless he matt serra’s him in the back of the head.

by mearls on Jun 17, 2008 2:49 PM EDT up reply actions

haha everyone wrote forrest off against shogun to an look what happend he got owned. shogun has better strikes and was ment to be better on the ground!and still got dominated.

by big dog on Jun 17, 2008 5:50 AM EDT reply actions

yea thats a great line to argue, even though you KNOW for a FACT that shogun wasn’t %100 for that fight. It’s absolutley no secret that he had no ACL and he wasn’t able to get his heart rate up for cardio. Stuff it, the forrest vs shogun line is played out, and it’s irrelevant considering the circumstances.

by O damn he got caught on Jun 17, 2008 3:23 PM EDT up reply actions

I am more certain about the result of this fight than i have been for a main event in years. Rampage is gonna walk through Forrest.

Forrest fights chin first and no one at L/HW punches as hard as Rampage.

The argument everyone is bringing to the table is the Shogun win… that means nothing.

The shogun in the forrest fight is as far removed from his Pride days as Rampage is now. For whatever reasons be it no roids, nerves, the cage or whatever but Shogun was awfull.

Please all bet on Forrest so i get better odds when i put the house on Rampage.

The best Forrest fans can hope for is him lasting 5 rounds and winning a lot of praise for his ‘gutsy, full of heart performance’ meanwhile his face is smashed beyond recognition.

by Nick J on Jun 17, 2008 7:17 AM EDT reply actions

Cote is going to man handle Almedia. His strikes are so powerful and accurate! His sprawl is ever improving as well, so I think Almedia might have a harder time taking him down than he thinks. Cote by first round BEHEADING!

Forrest will get knocked out in the 3rd round. His chin is suspect after the Jardine fight and he’s really sloppy with his strikes. He comes in wildly and Rampage one hitter quits em in the 3rd round!

by Spicoli on Jun 17, 2008 7:51 AM EDT reply actions

I like both fighters but I think Rampage has the edge here. Forrest cracked me up when he said he doesn’t hit as hard as Rampage so he is gonna have to “hit him alot” to make up for it. The guy is hilarious.

by Borocker on Jun 17, 2008 7:54 AM EDT reply actions

I see Rampage wining this fight. With a Kamakazi type slam..and GnP. I don’t ?? Forrest’s heart, desire, character..but to quote BJ Penn..on Page’s behalf…

" It’s a bad time to fight Rampage Jackson "

by PhilQNY on Jun 17, 2008 8:51 AM EDT reply actions

Its tough to compare the Forrest that will be in the Octagon against Rampage and the Forrest that faced Jardine, Forrest is the type of Fighter that fights to his opponents calibor, dont ask me how only he has the answer for that one.
But you look at it his fights with Stephen Bonner and Hector, and Jardine he wasnt even as close to being as good as what he was against Shogun, or Tito (in the second and Third).
This does have alll the making foe fight of the year, and I still Believe Forrest’s heart will control the later rounds but he will have to hold on early cause chances are Rampage will come hard early.

by Josh on Jun 17, 2008 10:49 AM EDT reply actions

Cote has a good chance in winning this fight. Ricardo just came back and fought a replacement and now he is in line. I think in line means if cote wins he gets a shot and if Ricardo wins he has to fight someone else before getting the chance. The only thing is if Cote wins how could he ever possibly beat silva he had troubles surviving a stand up battle with leben.
