Elite XC final quotes and blueberry muffins for 'Return of the King'

There is plenty to talk about after Elite XC: "Return of the King" last night.
There were break out performances by up-and-comers with loads of talent, a dominating beat down from the hands of a former champ, the methodical dissection of Muhsin Corrbrey by Nick Diaz, and there was, of course, the return of the king.
And there will certainly be a lot more in the coming months ... especially with the picture above snapped by the good folks over at CombatLifestyle.com.
"Don't be scared, homey."
The bad blood between champion KJ Noons and Nick Diaz, which stemmed from their fight last November, came to a boil last night as the two -- along with their entourages -- got into a post-event scuffle complete with middle fingers, name calling and a lot of pushing and shoving.
A rematch between the two at some point in the near future is a lock.
Check out some of the fighter thoughts and quotes from all the main card winners on last night's action and drama at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii:
Lightweight Champion KJ Noons:
"I'm not sure what happened or who started what, but I feel bad for Yves, a class act who trained really hard for this fight. Yves caught me, rocked me, but once I knocked him down I knew I had to go in and finish it.... Nick has no class, he's a bum, a piece of (expletive) and he and his team disrespected my family and I with their gestures and trash talk and tried to upstage our fight. I hope they make the fight with Diaz right here at the Blaisdell, but wherever it is, I will be ready. I'm the champion and have the EliteXC belt. I'll fight anybody. I didn't see his fight but if they say Nick deserves a rematch, then we can fight and I'll beat him again – if he can make 160 pounds.'
Nick Diaz:
"I'm sorry about what happened in the cage afterward, but I didn't start it. His guys were talking (expletive) to us. I wasn't exactly thrilled with my fight; in fact, I am pretty disappointed. This was one of my worst fights. I felt slow. I hated coming in that heavy. I worked very hard to cut the weight, but it just wouldn't come off. I will and can still make 160 pounds and will fight KJ any time, any place. I'll fight anybody in the world who thinks they are better than me or who is considered better than me."
Murilo "Ninja" Rua:
"I really wanted to prove a point and that was to win by knockout and not submission. This guy did a lot of talking; I know he was trying to get to me. So when I had him down, I really wanted to hurt him. I want to get back the EliteXC belt and will fight anybody to do so. I get criticized by people who don't think I have good striking skills so I'm happy to win the way I did. This fight was dedicated to my baby boy who is due in late August or early September.''
Dave "Blueberry Muffin" Herman:
"I didn't really know what to expect. Nothing he did fazed me. I'm thrilled to get the win and especially happy to get the knockout. But I think I'm going to dump my 'Pee Wee'' nickname and go with 'Blueberry Muffin' from now on. I love blueberry muffins and my mom, Karen, makes the best.''
Rafael Feijao:
"This is the kind of impressive performance that I wanted, but I still have more to show. The ref did his job. If he didn't stop it when he did I'd still be throwing punches. He got me with a good shot at the start but I get hit like that in training all the time. I felt strong. Training with Anderson and the guys I do is the best thing to ever to happen to me. Whether it's a knockout or not, as long as I win I'm happy. I'm ready to fight anybody at 205 pounds."

I really dont get the people on this site some times. You guys spent last week, trashing my boy Alves for not making weight, but when Nick Diaz doesnt make weight, it doesnt even get mentioned!
Fair?
I am a fan of boy Alves and Diaz, I am just amazed by the discrepancy of the people on this site!

I’d love to blast him for it. lol. However, I missed the fights this weekend due to a family reunion. Tell me that doesn’t suck!

Its ridiculous how he wasn’t able to make weight. It wasn’t as if he was just a couple of pounds over either!!! Its just completely unprofessional, and when put together with his antics as shown above, it just pushes me to state that Diaz is a joke, and i have lost sooo much respect for him as a fighter after this event. Its pitiful.

extra surprising considering he’s been a punk his whole career, i love that he’ll fight anyone and he’s a tremendous fighter, but he’s a guy i truly can’t stand, I mean ppl jump all over Hughes for bein a dick, which he is, also serra who i think is pretty funny, but i’m from the northeast so i get that attitude/sense of humor, but diaz is a flat out douche of a person….so how he gets a pass is beyond me
by Crowls on Jun 16, 2008 1:09 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Cause Hughes is like a passive aggressive dick, who tries to act like he is a man of god!
Diaz, doesnt try and hidet he fact that he is a dick, so I can respect that.

I disagree too. Aside from the cut stoppage w/ Noons, Nick hasn’t been stopped by TKO since 2002.
If (keyword: if) Diaz looses, it’ll likely be by decision.
Noons looked awesome against Edwards. If he performs like that, Nick will have his hands full. Even still, my money is on Diaz by submission.

Diaz needs to be able to take him down to get the sub. He has maybe the worst wrestling in the sport. Noons will beat him up on the feet and win by cut or decision.

Nick got him down two times in one round the 1st time they fought.

Nahh..Diaz by flying gogoplata..haha. On the real, Diaz chin’s like granite. He’s fought tough every fight since leaving the UFC. KJ looked great against Edwards, but, Edwards doesn’t have a ground game as near as good as Diaz. Diaz would definately find a way to get the fight on the ground.
Then Gracie Jits for that azz..
by TabascoSAUCE on Jun 16, 2008 2:23 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Ya but leaving the UFC he’s often fighting a lower tier of fighter. With the exception of Gomi.
by ShaiZ on Jun 16, 2008 5:20 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Everybody knows that I am a HUGE fan of the Diaz brothers. Ever since the Gomi fight, Nick has not been fighting like himself (outside of that one fight he had in DREAM). As for the aftermath of the main event, that was all EliteXC and KJ Noon’s team’s fault. Noons, his dad, and his trainer are the ones that rushed the Diaz’s. The trainer with the shaved head punched Nick to the body and swung for the face. Noon’s fat f*ck father grabbed Nick by the back of the head right afterwards. Nick and Nate were not throwing punhes. Noon’s family and team were the ones trying to throw down. And that is ONLY because they had a 50-3 people advantage. Let’s see KJ Noons and his dad walk into Cesar Gracie’s camp and run thier mouths. Sorry to say, but they wouldn’t come out alive!
When they were walking back on the ramp, I loved when after Nick flipped him off, Nate was right back to throwing up the Stockton Gang sign (he was doing so in the cage as well). It looked to me like Nate put on a little bit of muscle since his last fight. That can only be a good thing for Nate.
As for the Diaz/Noons rematch, I am very scared for Nick. I have a bad feeling that this little punk Noons is going to be the first person to KO Nick. During their first fight, he was just a punching back – no head movement at all. If he wants to go blow for blow with Noons, he will lose everytime. As for Nick’s takedowns, WTF? It looks like his takedown offense has regressed over the years. He has a very hard time trying to get fights to the ground now. His shot attempts are some of the weakest around. And his only other option is to body lock and try to twist them to the ground, which he is rarely successful at.
I can’t believe that Noons has be worried…
How about Noon’s GnP to finish off Edwards. WOW! Now that’s what I call “Swicking Out”. Swick looked like a school girl. Noons looked like a possessed killer.
Rafael Feijao, I expect BIG things from him. A few more fights and he should be in the UFC.
Dave BlueBerry Muffin Herman, lol. Gotta love his personality. And I like his style for a HW as well.
by ViolentMike on Jun 16, 2008 9:48 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
to say noons shouldn’t be worried surprises me Mike. Diaz looked great in dream, and just spent extra time cutting weight for this fight. It showed, he was slow and obviously drained. Noons’ camp and elite were to blame, and the middle finger isn’t a gang sign! MMA has luckily kept the diaz boys out of gangs.
For those of you who don’t know, stockton is a sess pool and wasteland. The diaz’s are probably the most successful guys in their neighborhoods. They never moved to good sections (which has ghettos in their back yards), and fighting is all they got. I guarantee once fighting is done, they will be very lucky to have a job training, or else they would be nothing. My wife’s cousin is a boxer and lives in stockton, he says that the diaz boys piss through their purses quickly, hence fighting once a month. Yes he loves to fight, but he has to too! All that said, he has always been one of my favorite fighters, ans KJ isn’t sleeping well at night knowing he has to face a pissed of Nick Diaz!

to the three comments above me, it’s likely that nick diaz have the upperhand if it gets to the ground. i’m not going to lie, they’re both under my fav. fighters…HOWEVER, i still think KJ Noons will deliver a… foward jump double front-claw, to a reverse heel-kick, then comin’ strong with the BLANKA-ball, to give diaz a “sixth-year later TKO!”
by boardRIDER on Jun 16, 2008 3:04 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
That is not a very flattering picture for Diaz. haha

Based on last nights performances, I would say that Noons would take Diaz in the rematch, though I don’t know if it would be by KO. Last night Diaz looked lethargic to me. I have enjoyed watching him fight for years now, but thought that the post event shenanigans that he instigated were pretty lame. He came off looking like a bitter 7th grader trying to act tough and save face after having his can kicked in gym class, in my humble opinion.
Overall, last nights event was pretty entertaining I thought.

Diaz will destroy noons. I also thought Nick looked bad in his fight, and got a kick out of goldberg (useless) and the other guys saying Nick was executing his gameplan. He looked slow and lathargic. Noons is a douche bag if he thinks it was Nick’s idea to go to the cage, it was all elite! It was noon’s guys (especially his father) doing most of the talking,1, and 2, what entourage is KJ talking about? Nate! It was those two VS. the whole city boxing (you hear them named as a top 10 place to train all the time) crew and his father! I stated before, that is one thing I hate about elite, why exactly are the whole family and friends invited into the cage?
Anyways, Nick will hopefully take KJ down quick and break his arm! No sense in being a punching bag, just execute. He’s one of only 5 black belts under caesar, use those skills and make this KJ guy go unconscious!

I am shocked Goldberg’s half-dozen blunders didn’t make the list.

I really like the way the Diaz brothers fight but personally Nick comes off as an ass. Even if KJ is calling you names, have some class for Christ sake. You’re a warrior Nick, act like one.

This fight has to happen. Their 1st fight was close and could have gone either way. The stoppage sucked but was legit…the fighters health absolutely has to come 1st.
It may just be me but I cannot help but feel like the whole melee at the end was set up.
RE: Goldberg…I like the guy but commentary is not his gig.

“It may just be me but I cannot help but feel like the whole melee at the end was set up.”
ding ding!
Such bullshit. It’s insulting that they would make this transparently choreographed melee in mma. I can’t imagine anyone with an IQ over 80 falling for any “heat” between the two. It read like pro wrestling script from the moment it happened, with Goldberg being none too discreet.

Every org. has its own way to pump up fights. UFC does the same thing with there fights they have let guys enter the cage after fights to pump up the next fight. The only diference is that they don’t come off as a street punk like the Diaz brothers. At one time i felt sorry for Nate when he got punk in front of America on the Tuf show by Karo. It seems like he and his brother is the ones that look like idiots now. I said it before Nick man up and quit acting the part of a punk because it could be the start of your demise.

The Diaz brothers a both truly great athletes, but in my opinion are they are both punk ass bitches!!!

I had a bit of respect for Diaz after his fight how he helped up his opponent Muhsin Corrbrey and showed alot of respect for his opponent. Then I lost it all when all that b.s. happened after KJ Noons fight how he got in the ring and start running his mouth. Him and his brother end up running away like little bit*hs yeah tough guy. What a loser and as John mentioned earlier he didn’t even make weight.
Maybe they should make it that if you don’t make weight you loose points like an illegal hit or something.
YOU DON’T MAKE WEIGHT YOU LOOSE 1 POINT
what do you guys think about this.
by TKO on Jun 16, 2008 3:53 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Noons isn’t that good. Yves is washed up and Nick is going to put a hurting on KJ.

first of all. this guy KJ might have been born in Hawaii but he didn’t grow up there so I could give 2 sh*tz about him. The guy’s claim to fame was a lucky win by cut and they want to crown him as the ‘king’? wat a joke! bj (the real king) would murder his @ss so quick. he hasn’t even fought a top 10 guy yet! i can’t wait until Nick chokes him out and pops his head off like champagn cork and then zoom in on daddy’s face as he’s trying to hold his tears back, cheek quivering and everything. and then after that, give Nate a turn to send the guy back to undercard status! HAHA!
