All I have to say is Aoki’s win was ridiculous. I have never seen anything like that in my life a top mounted gogo plata. Ralek Gracie looked good although he needs some big time stand up training. He remonded me a lot of the first time I saw Royce Gracie. The only offense he had was a front kick to push a person back, to set up a takedown. I woke my happy ass up at 4am to watch these fights. Alistair Overeem called out Cro Cop and so did Gracie. I do not think Gracie stands a chance at Cro Cop, with his super minimal stand up. Alstair on the other hand is at the top of his game roght now and loks like he would be a serious challenger to Cro Cop right now. All and all I would say it was an impressive card and look forward to the July fights….

I dont have Hdnet, so I didnt get to watch the fights yet.
U r saying that Aoki finished his opponent with a mounted gogo? r u kidding me? I have got to find that fight video!
I agree that Alistar would have a great chance of defeating cro cop! Alistar is on a hot streak right now.
How did my boy Jacre look?

Wow!!! I just watched the fights and all I can say is WOW!!!
Jacre is turning into one hell of an mma fighter. HIs stand up and conditioning still needs work because he got tired in the last round but his ground game is second to none! I honestly think he is better on the ground then Maia, Werdum, Nogueira or any other Brazilian fighter. My hats off to Mayhem for defending about a 1000 different submission attempts by Jacre. Jacre’s ground ghame is just Beautiful. The way he passes from position to position is AMAZING! He got to side mount, any time he wanted and just went from one sub attempty to another. Whatever body part he gets ahold of, could get SNAPPED! He went from arm bars, to leg locks, to traingles, to Omo’s it was just like nopthing I have ever seen before.
He will keep workingt with wanderlei and Jacre is going to be a MONSTER in the future! What impresses me the most about him is his athletic ability. So many Ju jitsu grapplers that transfered into mma were nerds, like Ken Flow, Royce guys like that with no athletic ability! Jacre is so damn good at ju jitsu and he has the athletisism of GSP…he will be very dangerous in the future and I expect him to win the entire tournament. Props to Mayhem for hanging in there and Mayhem actually finished the fight strong but was dominated in the 1st 10 minutes!
As for Shinya Aoki WOW!!! 1st time In my life that I ever saw someone finished from a gogo plata out of the mount! I have never seen anything like that and I am still amazed! That is a move not many fighters can do, only person that I know could pull that off besides rainbow pants is Bj Penn!
God, I love Japanease mma!

Mayhem disappointed me against Frank Trigg and now again here. Sometimes I wish he’d concentrate just a tiny bit less on being ‘wacky’ and more on improving his all around skills.

I really want to see Moussasi vs. Manhoef fight they are both dutch well Moussasi is Armenian now not sure what is going on with that he fought for Dutch national team against Geramny few years back. But Iheard him say in an interview that he would love to fight Manhoef. I think Manhoef is a monster man does his fight ever go past the first round I don’t know if he got stamina to last 3 rounds. Does it matter he finish all his fight in TKO.
I have no predictions who will win but I really want to se this fight happen.
Moussasi vs. Manhoef

Damn, really wanted Mayhem to win. Anyway the results are pretty much what I expected. Manhoef has some ridiculous KO power. Would love to see him in the UFC one day. The casual fans are into seeing KO after KO so I think he would be a great fit.

Damn, this was a great event, I just slept my hangover off (hey, Saku lost, give me a break).
I felt bad for Zelg, because I know he wants to earn his respect there with good fights (benkei style), not stoppages. As a Mayhem Monkey myself I was rooting for him, but was not too disappointed because Jacre has just so much potential and is an up-and-comer in this sport.
Ralek looked lost, come back when you know what standup means. Alistair had a great showing – whoever survives CroCop-LeBanner should be his next matchup. Between those three I believe we could see the most amazing striking matches, as all three faced off in K-1 at a time.

Is this Manhoef guy for real? I just saw his fight with Sakuraba, he looked pretty impressive, however Sakuraba is old. Any chance of him getting into the UFC and fighting at 185? Imagine him taking on Nate Quarry or Chris Leben, even Rich Franklin in a stand up war. I’d like to see this guy again!

Joe Rogan said he was talking him up with Dana etc to try to get him in the UFC but they probably think he needs more experience.

You really want to see the UFC’s American fighters get their asses kicked. He will never sign with the UFC. HE said it himself he like the knees to the head of a downed fighter.

UFC please sign Melvin Manhoef!! He’s a beast. Always liked to see him fight and it’d be great to see him in with the likes of Liddell, Wandy and Rampage etc

ManHoef is not new. He has been doing what you saw at DREAM this morning, for years now. He terrorized Cage rage!
The problem with the UFC is that they lack Dutch Kickboxers, who are all animals standing up! I dont now why but other than Antoni Hardonk, who is not one of the elite Dutchman, the UFC has no other crazy Dutch Strikers.
I would love to see that change in the near future!

why doesn’t everyone bash dream like they bash elite? just wondering
by Rusty on Jun 15, 2008 4:31 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I feel DREAM has a lot of Pride flavor to it, which makes it pretty likable. Tournaments are always exciting and there is a very big talent pool in DREAM.
Elite XC on the other hand just seems to show how fighters can be celebrities, and not really express the art of MMA. There are some exceptions with certain fighters of course, but that is just my opinion at least.
by Tricky Nick on Jun 15, 2008 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Because:
1) its a japanese show (bushido, respectful fans)
2) high-grade production, same as PRIDE
3) great fighters
4) good rules (knees, 10+5 minute rounds)
by YouTapped on Jun 15, 2008 5:03 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Exactly…its because its almost a trend to bash. If one guys says it sucks people start saying it. Its not to say that the CBS XC show was’nt a let down. But it WAS FREE! and as long as theres a MMA show on I WILL WATCH! I am a true and true MMA fan from the the first time i saw ufc 1 and pride 1 and pancrase world championship.

i watched the rerun of the cbs fights the other night on showtime and in my opinion the fights were pretty good with the exception of kimbo, not great but decent, everyone was complaining about how it drug on, to many commercials and so on, of course watching it on showtime it went a little faster.
by Rusty on Jun 15, 2008 5:30 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
i agree with you caz, if its mma, i’m watching it. good or bad i’ll decide that.

Aoki´s performance was fucking amazing… Unbelivable omoplata mounted…
Manhoef is the most dangeorous kick boxer n the world of mma
and overeem had spectacular performance whit good punches a knee, he would be a very top challenge for mirko
by emiliano on Jun 15, 2008 8:29 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I saw the fights over here in Korea (via TV) and I was amazed at the punching and kneeing power of Alistair Overeem as he totally defeated Lee Tae Hyun. As soon as he landed the left, right, left and then comes up with that big knee to Lee’s body it was lights out. Great fight!
The Miller and Souza was another great fight. It was a close one to call but Souza won it and I look forward to his next match up. I was not suprised to see Manhoef beat the living daylights out of his opponent, the guy was just animal. I look forward to the next round of fights.
