Several prelim fights for UFC 87: 'Seek and Destroy' made official

Even though we already had the inside scoop, the UFC recently confirmed several bouts slated for the UFC 87: "Seek and Destroy" under card at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn., on August 9.
Lightweights Frankie Edgar and Hermes Franca will go toe-to-toe as expected, as well as heavyweights Cheick Kongo and Dan Evensen. In addition, Chris Wilson will tangle with Steve Bruno in a solid welterweight scrap.
The battle between The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 6 170-pound contestants -- Ben Saunders and Jared Rollins -- has also been scratched from UFC 86 and will now take place at UFC 87.
Of course, "Seek and Destroy" features the 170-pound world title fight between UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre and number one contender, Jon Fitch. Lightweight Kenny Florian and Roger Huerta will also meet up in a 155-pound eliminator match to see who challenges BJ Penn next for his lightweight title.
And a Minnesota event wouldn't be complete without its native MMA son, Brock Lesnar, who will look to get his first win inside the Octagon against the very dangerous and very experienced, Heath Herring.

Should be sick, do you know if Sherk is gonna make the card?
And of course mania’s boy, boring lay-n-gay Fitch, is gonna get a serious ass raping and humiliated at hands of GSP.

They should have put one of these fights on the UFC 86, IMO the undercard is lacking.

I think Lesnar would have had an easier time with Kongo. All he has is strikes and Brock could get him down fast. Heath has a much better game. Gonna be interesting.

So who believes Brock Lesnar can beat Heath Herring and if he can, how will he do it?
I think the fight of the night will be Ken Flo and Huerta.

I think Brock Lesnar is going to maul Heath Herring. Kongo proved once again that Heath has sub-par takedown defense. Maybe he worked really hard to improve it, but why now? Why not the last several times he got destroyed by ground and pound?
I expect a Fedor-esque performance by Lesnar in this, though it may just go to decision.

given the fact that two matches were moved from ufc 86 to 87, we now only have 9 matches, they need to add at least one if not two

Yeah but we’ll get to most likely see all of the fights. Sucks if you go see it live though.

this is a good event its interesting see the fight of lesnar but the fight of the night will be roger vs ken flo…. by the way easy win for GSP

Totally agree roger and ken flo will be a good fight cause I can not give the edge to anyone it will be close. The gSP fight we all know the outcome. GSP is so much more superior than Jon.

gsp vs fitch is gonna be a very close match, no way gsp can run through him like he did with hughes and serra.

I just don’t see someone who had so much trouble with Chris Wilson can ever hang in there with with GSP. On top of it it was Wilson’s first fight in the UFC, he had to overcome the nerves and etc. FINCH will loose no decision either TKO or Submission.

haha, watch, Lesnar’s gonna run out all energetic at Heath, but O guess what, Heath is gonna run out too to his dismay and drop a right hand on his chinny chin chin like he did with Kongo.

Yes, Lesnar will win if he has improved his top position. He was easily man-handling MIR until that leg lock. Fitch, close your eyes and take a nap ASAP or else it is going to be a long night for you. Florian vs Huerta…can’t wait to see it. I had no respect for Florian until he dismantled Lauzon and Huerta with a great win over Guida. BIG NIGHT, WOOO!
