BJ Penn, Michael Bisping, Urijah Faber and Carlos Condit to visit troops in Afghanistan

UFC Lightweight Champion BJ Penn and middleweight contender Michael Bisping, along with WEC champions Carlos Condit and Urijah Faber, will soon travel to Afghanistan to visit with United States military and other coalition troops stationed there.
Here's a snip from UFC President Dana White:
"We are honored to send UFC and WEC fighters to visit the men and women of the United States Military. We are pleased to be giving back to such a great cause; many of our fighters have served in the military and understand what a great contribution our troops are making overseas."
No timetable for the visit or duration of the trip was announced at this time. However, Condit is set to defend his 170-pound title on August 3, meaning it has to happen real soon or after WEC 35.
This is certainly not the first time Zuffa has dispatched a small contingent of its fighters overseas. Randy Couture, Rich Franklin and Rachelle Leah visited troops in Iraq back in 2006. Tito Ortiz and Justin McCully have also been fixtures on recent USO tours.
Remember that the promotion staged a special Spike TV live event in an aircraft hangar at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, Calif., on December 13 that was open only for troops to attend. It featured a main event between Diego Sanchez and Joe Riggs, which the "Nightmare" won via first round knockout.
And there's also been discussions that the UFC plans to hold a future event on the deck of a Navy aircraft carrier.
In addition, several active fighters such as WEC Light Heavyweight Champion Brian Stann, Luigi Fioravanti, Couture and Brandon Vera, among other, have served in the armed forces.
Stay tuned for more details.

GREAT! Another reason for belts to be held up = ( Im still in hopes its tournaments of some sort, either by country (olympic style), by weight (granprix style), or by bad *ssness (BJ Penn style) *uck another TV show!! They need to change up the UCF event format to keep it fresh and appealing, add tourneys at the end of each year with an Ultimate Ultimate Fighter being named and belted with a P4P belt!! (year round belt owners enter without putting their belts on the line; Silva, Penn, GSP, etc . . .) PLEASE!!!

“a great contribution our troops are making overseas” haha you got to be kidding me, since when was killing innocent men, women & children for profit a great contribution? To me the biggest terrorist organisation in the world is the U.S Goverment.

So why don’t you do something about it and move out of the country, I bet you wouldn’t be so quick to do so. This government has and continues to do a lot for us as a people, you shouldn’t be so quick to write them off as terrorists. Take into account the life that you live, and that you would not be able to do the same activities at will as you do now.

I will be glad when the UFC finally makes the GSP and Penn fight happen so BJ can get his ass beat and maybe then you will stop chanting BJ BJ BJ. My favorite fighter is Wanderlei but I don’t turn every single thread I comment on into a Wanderlei Silva thread and I do realize this thread is partialy about BJ Penn. Everywhere I read you are there saying BJ BJ. We get it man, BJ is a bad ass and I admire him as a fighter, I just don’t want to hear about him every day. I’m sure if I typed Wandy Wandy Wany on every single thread someone would call me out too. We don’t even know who he is fighting next so start your campaign back up when we know. Go to sherdog and you can start your own thread about BJ daily and that would solve the problem.

lol i don’t live in the U.S, uk actually, live the life i do well thanks to the U.S im sure my civil libertys will be compromised even further. its not a war on terror its a war on personal freedom. the goverments are slowly tightening their grip on us and controlling us and if you don’t see this then your stupid, big brother britain is what its slowly becoming over here. what will leaving the country achieve? id rather try and do something about what is clearly wrong with the goverments rather than run away for other people to sort out. you obviously watch to much fox news and believe all that right wing propaganda. i feel sorry for you.

Even if you disagree with this war (and I do too), that is no reason to disresect the troops. They didn’t make the decision to go to war. I am sure that they would rather be safe at home chatting online like you, instead of looking over their shoulders and hoping not to get a limb blown off before the day is over. If you do not like your government, then say so, but don’t disrespect the soldiers.

Your name fits you perfect, Macho Bullshit. I really hope you’re not an American because if you are you don’t deserve to be. There are men and women over there dying so you can have the freedom to type your bullshit comments on this blog. I’ve never read anyting more bogus than your comment. Soldiers get put in jail for mistreating prisoners that would kill them if they had the chance.

Dude, no disrespect to soldiers putting their life on the line.
I’m not left wing man, but your quoting rhetoric?
It was a move by Bush administration to equate disagreeing with the war to not caring about the lives of our troops. Just like they tied nationalism with agreeing with them.
If you questioned anything you were ‘un-American’.
It’s really transparent.
There’s no relation to 9/11 and freedom by going to Iraq? Infact if anything the US citizens have lost more personal freedom in the last 8 years.
It’s a gong show mess that’s (helped) fuck up the economy and end thousands of lives.
A mess that now is a responsibility that needs to be babysat by multiple countries for years to come.
No one either side even tries to defend that war anymore.
This isn’t some crazy conspiracy theory.
Why do you think there’s been impeachment proceedings all week on C-span?

It dosn’t surprise me that you want to censor my view point haha, that’s what you like to do isn’t it hide/manipulate the truth and force your own propaganda bullshit down everybody’s throat. Am i not entiled to my opinion, does it scare you that i would have the audacity to question your stupid goverment while you just nod your head at everything they say!

JIMMY DEAN: My “BJ BJ BJ” was to defuse the crap conversation that you got drawn into with Macho and others, had you for a second but you still fell for the other conversation. And ill chant anytime i want!!! Not going to do it now for cliche’s sake, but i would dicourage your “wandi’s!!” so dont harp on me, my favorite fighter has finally made his come back offical and i love it!!!! AND never for one second do i worry about GSP putting a stop to Penns come back, never. Im looking so far past that fight that it would blow your mind.

BJ Penn and Urijah Faber visited my brother’s company in afgan. He was very happy when I talked to him today! I’m not into the fighting stuff,so i’ve never heard of these people. But,I would like for everyone to know, how much they did when they visited the soldiers.I can’t thank them enough, just for the smile they brought to my brother and to the other soldiers as well!
“My Brother,A US Army Soldier, fighting for his country.I’m proud of my brother for serving our country and his willingness to give his life for
something he found important. This country and world would be lost without all the strong brothers there are to fight for freedom and democracy.America is the land of the free Because of the HOME OF THE BRAVE,I’m a Proud Sister of a US Army soldier.A U.S. Army soldier who we think about daily and who we depend on to come home safely.
Brother,
Keep your head down, your chin up and show the world what the American soldier is made of…."
God Bless you & yours,
