Wrapping up UFC 85 'Bedlam' with Jesse Holland from MMAmania.com

pro mma radio

Jesse Holland back again and this time I've been tapped by bodybuilding and mixed martial arts expert Larry Pepe for the debut of his new show Pro MMA Radio. Larry is the main MMA writer for Flex magazine and mega-site Bodybuilding.com.

Larry and I get into the nuts and bolts of UFC 85, including the stoppage of Brandon Vera, the implications of Matt Hughes loss at the hands of Thiago Alves and where Michael Bisping is headed in the UFC middleweight division.

If that's not enough, stick around for WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber. "The California Kid" goes into great detail about his fight against Jens Pulver, what they spoke about inside the cage, his specific training regimen and of course, who he wants to fight next.

A big thanks to Larry for having us on his debut show, which was featured on the front page of bodybuilding's FlexOnline.

Tonight will be a decent evening of mma action.

We have a new episode of TUF. Anyone know if this will be the last episode or will there be another episode next week.

Also, before TUF airs tonight, Spike will air a new episode of UFC UNLEASED that will feature Anderson Silva vs. Dan Henderson

I say put Alves in with Swick, and the winner gets a title shot.

by JV on Jun 10, 2008 10:33 PM EDT reply actions

How about Kos vs Sanchez II, and Alves vs Davis. I think it would be a great chance to redeme a loss for Davis, and a way to see if Alves can actually make weight. I agree Swick should be ready for a #1 contender fight after his last preformance, and should fight Alves if he can beat Davis. (only if Alves can make weight of course)

Once Chris Lytle knocks out Josh Koschek, I would like to see a rematch between Alves vs. Lytle. There 1st fight was the Definition of FIREWORKS!!! It was one of my favorite fights of the past year and they have to have a rematch!

Koschek will loose to Lytle and his next opponent should be Diego

Diego vs. Koschek 3 would be a great main event for an ULtimate Fight night live event!

by john on Jun 11, 2008 8:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Thats right, it would be #3. Forgot about TUF. Unfortnately I didn’t catch Alves vs Lytle. Sounds like a rematch would be great though.

by Bob on Jun 11, 2008 11:18 AM EDT up reply actions

If you have missed Lytle vs. Alves, IT IS A MUST SEE! Get on that!

by john on Jun 11, 2008 12:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Dude NO JOKE, ive been looking for that fight cannot find it on teh internet anywhere(without having to pay). Even before I knew they had even fought I was like “Man that would be a BOMB match up”, then I heard it already went down.

Does anybody PLEASE have the Lytle/Alves fight? ANd while your at it, the Fitch/Alves fight as well?

by The Anomaly on Jun 11, 2008 6:09 PM EDT up reply actions

anomaly: I do not know where you can find the Lytle/Alves fight other then the DVD. Did you check: myvideofight.com ?

As for the Fitch/Alves fight, didnt that happen on a UFN event or a TUFD finale?

by john on Jun 11, 2008 6:21 PM EDT up reply actions

It might have im not sure, I dont know A whole lot about Fitch’s and Alvez’s history.

But as for Alvez/Lytle, I tried myvideofight, nothin came up for Alvez, and Lytle only had one fight come up with a jason Gilliam or something. I dont get it cuz on there “Most watched” list there is the Thiago vs Hughes fight, so why when I just type Thiago Alvez, would NO fights show up?

by The Anomaly on Jun 11, 2008 6:26 PM EDT up reply actions

John, I hope you’re right about Lyttle knocking out Kos, but I predict a UD for Kos (much like the one Hughes got when he fought him). I would have liked to see Diego and Alves fight, but with Diego being a small WW and Alves being a MW not making it even close to WW, I now think Alves should move up to 185.

by UFCAddict on Jun 11, 2008 6:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Alves vs Diego Sanchez, Koscheck vs Swick (I don’t care that they train together).

by PACO on Jun 10, 2008 10:59 PM EDT reply actions

I couldn’t read this post because of the insanely annoying yellow popup.

Alves v Swick would be amazing! Off topic, what if Mayweather is “retiring” to give MMA a shot after running out of boxing competition?

by RedDog on Jun 10, 2008 11:38 PM EDT reply actions

Mayweather ducked boxing’s best and fought names in order to cash in. Trust me, there is NO way he is going into MMA. Too much risk and work for his pussy @ss.

by OJR on Jun 11, 2008 8:18 AM EDT up reply actions

Swick and Alves are without a doubt #3 and #4 in the division (and I’d put the winner of Kos/Lytle and #5).

by boz on Jun 11, 2008 12:20 AM EDT reply actions

Diego vs. Kos II would be a pretty big money maker. I would love to see them go at it again.

Keep em’ coming. That’s actually a very good show. They really talk in-depth into some issues we should be tired of by now. Kind of puts a new spin on it.

by jess on Jun 11, 2008 12:55 AM EDT reply actions

I am surprised that mma and bodybuilding are just now really starting to overlap. It was a long time before you started seeing a lot of add’s for real top quality bodybuilding supplements and lifting routines in mma magazines, as well as routines and fighter bio’s in bodybuilding magazines. Obviously size and strength doesn’t do a thing without skill, but if a fighter is skilled, and is also big and strong, it can be a deadly combination.

LOL… The characteristics of BJ and Reagan are so alike.. Haha I nominate BJ as the #1 all-around athlete in the UFC because not only is he champion, but he finds time to paddle canoe and he practiced for that regatta for two weeks.

by ( (Adam G) ) on Jun 11, 2008 1:34 AM EDT up reply actions

by The Anomaly on Jun 11, 2008 1:41 AM EDT up reply actions

Yo no abla LMAO! maybe "Im better . . much better" like my shadowboxing video is better than yours, much better. for the contest. LoL, i really dont know, when he’s in Hawaii he gets native with his tongue in a hawaiian slang. LoL . . .

by ( (Adam G) ) on Jun 11, 2008 1:45 AM EDT up reply actions

You got it mang. That’s what it means. It’s what us peeps from Hawaii call “pidgin”. He means “More better, more better.” Haha

by pUniSHment on Jun 11, 2008 3:16 AM EDT up reply actions

wait wait wait, So what is it? its more better more better? the first “More” sounds different, sounds like “my” all slang like, are you sure? Just askin cuz I don’t wanna sound like an idiot when I say it haha.

by The Anomaly on Jun 11, 2008 3:24 AM EDT up reply actions

Hey man are you sure it’s “more better more better”. The first “more” sounds more like a “my” to me, all slang like. Just askin cuz I don’t wanna sound stupid if I say it haha, not like anybody will know if I say it wrong haha.

(If this comment appears twice one got moderated my bad.)

by The Anomaly on Jun 11, 2008 3:37 AM EDT up reply actions

Yup its “more better, more better.” When I hear the language, I can fully understand what he and others who talk like that are saying. However, it’s hard to put it in standard English because the translation would sorta have a different meaning than what was intended.

by pUniSHment on Jun 11, 2008 8:45 AM EDT up reply actions

alright tight, thanks. Im bringin it to CALI, CALI!!!

by The Anomaly on Jun 11, 2008 6:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Good interview. As if my precious spare time isn’t allready consumed by mma enough as it is now I will have to start catching this new show. Its interesting that Faber, when put on the spot, said he would fight Tyson at 155. I for one would love to see that!

Vitor Belfort vs Terry Martin on the “Affliction banned” card. Is it true????

by pUniSHment on Jun 11, 2008 3:21 AM EDT reply actions

Is this old news??? I will feel stupid if it is.

by pUniSHment on Jun 11, 2008 3:24 AM EDT up reply actions

the affliction fight card shows arlovski as a red devil fighter – is this true? does that mean he trains with fedor?
