Ehhh, not stoked on this one, but whatever, main event could be chill.

by ( (Adam G) ) on Jun 10, 2008 9:43 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I am excited about this main event, but then I am not. I dont think that Forrest has the cardio to keep up with Rampage, and I think Rampage is a lot stronger than Forrest and has a stronger chin. I don’t think Rampage is going to be drawn into a slug fest with Forrest, and I think Rampage will win this via Round 2 TKO.

by "Mr. NC-17" on Jun 10, 2008 9:44 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I see him having the cardio, just not the talent.

by ( (Adam G) ) on Jun 10, 2008 9:45 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

watch his Rua fight. He was dead in the 3rd round. He looked tired in his fight against Mad Dog as well. Forrest is going to over train for this fight. I just got the feeling.

maybe you’re right, this card sucks too much for me to care about lol, i wanna see BJ, GSP, or Anderson, anyting else on those cards is a bonus.

Lytle/Koscheck is going to be a treat and Gurgel/Miller will be.. oh wait. Thats on the undercard. We wont see that. That has Decision written all over it.

by "Mr. NC-17" on Jun 10, 2008 10:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Lets be honest: Rampage will completely outclass Forrest. There is nothing in mma that Forrest does better then Rampage….There is no way that Forrest can Finish the fight, while Rampage has many different potential ways of taking Forrest OUT! Forrest wont make it to a third round against Page!

I look forward to winning money on Chris Lytle, after he knocks out Koschek!

I’m just going to go out on a limb and call an upset. A major upset like Forrest TKO’s Rampage. I know Rampage would beat Forrest hands down but again just going out on a limb. I didn’t think Forrest would beat Rua either

Or the power.

I don’t think anyone has ever questioned Forests cardio.

by GSP4Prez on Jun 10, 2008 10:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I dont understand why either. Forrest after round 2 will start taking huge breaths and will start looking up at the clock for time because he wants out of the cage because of fatigue.

by "Mr. NC-17" on Jun 10, 2008 10:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Just because Forrest looks like a monkey after a marathon when he breathes doesn’t mean he is really tired. Jacare said in a Sherdog interview that he trains more than anyone at Extreme Colture and specifically said the best part of his game was cardio. This fight will be more competative than most people think.

by bnf on Jun 10, 2008 10:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

LMFAO! “Like a monkey after a Marathon?” funny stuff.

by chefdaddy on Jun 11, 2008 7:24 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

So BNF, you read the Jacre interview….It was a good interview wasnt it? I enjoyed it.

Doesnt matter how hard Forrest trains because Rampage has shown the ability to fight hard for 5 rounds, something Forrest has never experienced.

Also Rampage comes from Pride, and in pride, a standard fight was 20 minutes anyway. So Rampage has basically been fighting 20 minute fights for the past 6 or 7 years.

Forrest can not win this fight because he dos not have the ability to Finish Rampage. Lets be serious, who has Forrest ever knocked out? In addition, Rampage has a better chin then anyone Forrest has ever faced. Also, Forrest defense consists of blocking punches with his face, something he can not afford to do when fighting Page. Rampage has ko power in both hands, forrest has a questionable chin. No way in the world that Forrests chin can hold up against one of Rampages nasty hooks, or devestating upper cutts.

Stand up advantage goes to Rampage, by a lot!

Wrestling goes to Rampage

ju jitsu: Even, Rampage’s submission defense is probably better then Forrest’s. Either way this fight will not end in a submission.

When it copmes down to it, this will be the toughest fight of Forrest Griffin’s career, the same can not be said about Rampage.

Rampage and the Unders is the pick here! Hopefully all you TUF fans that dont know any better will throw there money away on Forrest, making the Ramp0age odds even sweeter. No matter what, I am betting really Big on Rampage. Odds dont matter if you know the guy you will bet on WONT LOOSE!!!

by john on Jun 11, 2008 9:00 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Good analyists John. And I generally don’t bet on fights so I’m sorry I can’t help your odds. This is just one of those fights on paper it is all Rampage, but I have not been overly impressed with him and I just have a feeling Forrest will push the pace, tire him out and submit him late in the fight… CB Dollaway submitted him in 30 seconds… LOL!

by bnf on Jun 11, 2008 10:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

bnf, Rampage getting caught in that choke was kinda stupid on his part. He was trying to look tough when he tells CB come on lets go, then gets caught and tries to act cool about it and laughs it off.

by JV on Jun 11, 2008 10:32 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

John, you say Rampage has many more ways to win than Forrest and I was just wondering what the many were? He can knock him out or he can win by decision. Rampage doesn’t use a variety of kicks in his attack and he has next to zero chance of subbing someone. He has said multiple times he doesn’t want to submit someone because he doesn’t want his opponent to come back afterwards and say ’Page was lucky and just caught him.

Unwillingness to use and ignoring opportunities to win make him suspect in any championship level fight. He is tough as hell, but when he runs up against someone just as tough and athletic as he is, only more intelligent and well rounded he will lose most every time. (That said, I don’t know if this will be the time. I just know that Forrest is willing to win in any method available in front of him.)

by PJJ on Jun 11, 2008 10:33 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Forrest has a snow balls chance in hell, beating Rampage..

There is no need to argue over this fight..

It is easy to see that, Rampage will beat the living daylights out of Forrest….

I love Forrest, but Rampage has come to far, to lose to Forrest..Simply Rampage is on another level..

Rampage .vs. Forrest = Easy win for Page!

by Stagger-Lee on Jun 11, 2008 11:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Stager Lee: ABSOLUTELY!!! U nailed It! Its pretty simple, Rampage will just Beat Forrest up!

PJJ: What are u talking about Dude? Rampage has a couple of different ways to win. KO from a punch, KO from a knee (Rampage’s Muy Tai is under rated). Ground n Pound, Slam, decision!

How can Forrest win the fight? Only man to ever submit Rampage was Sakuraba, in Page’s 1st Pride fight. He has fought some tough submission machines and never got caught in a submission like Arona, Bustamante, Ninja….u really think Forrest is going to submit him? Lets be REAL! Rampage just slams his way out of most submissions anyway.

Rampage has one of the Nastiest Ground n pound in the world. He ground n pounded Chuck into submission in their 1st fight. Rampage is one of the best in the world at attacking the body with punches, elbows and knees during his ground n pound assaults. His supperior wrestling helps him control the fighter who’s ass he is whooping up on! He has out-wrestloed top guys like: Lindland, Henderson, Chuck, Arona.

Bottom Line, forrest is in big trouble!!

by thetuf75 on Jun 10, 2008 9:52 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Exactly. I don’t know why the UFC insists on creating a ‘rivalry’ between all of their main events. It’s starting to get ridiculous. The worst was the faux feud between GSP and Matt Serra. They both struggled to talk smack about each other. Screw it. Just fight.

by Toms Bombs on Jun 11, 2008 10:58 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I got no clue how they can say he tore through Henderson…..Henderson won both 1st and 2nd round then lost the next 3….How the hell does that =Tore through? Anyways Rampage should massacre Forrest shouldnt go past the 2nd round. Shogun is hopefully going to fully recover before his next fight and take UFC fighters seriously this time.

by Khaos_Warrior on Jun 10, 2008 10:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You guys probably didnt give Forrest a chance with Shogun either, that was a good call huh.

by JV on Jun 10, 2008 10:37 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Dude I have been having this argument for months now. They are all going to give you the “Shogun was hurt and he couldn’t train properly”. That argument is played out. Let’s move forward. I got Forrest by upset in the later rounds. Now everone will jump my sh%t. Who cares cause they all jumped my sh%t about Alves!!!

by bnf on Jun 10, 2008 10:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

bnf and JV, either you guys are correct or we are. if the “shogun was hurt” argument is played out than the “give forrest a chance because he beat shogun” argument is just as played out. One goes with the other (meaning forrest beat shogun because he was injured). We’ll see when this fight goes down which argument was correct, if rampage comes out and destroys forrest I got a feeling my argument was correct, if forrest beats rampage in any fashion, than I’ll give forrest his dues. I got a feeling I’m correct though :)

by linx on Jun 11, 2008 7:31 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Linx: Trust me on this, you are 100% CORRECT!!

by john on Jun 11, 2008 9:04 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Linx, my reason for saying Forrest has a big chance in this fight is that Rampage has not fought (besides Chuck) a true LHW. Eastman was a MW and so was Hendo. We all see how small Hendo is compared to the LHW’s. The Chuck fight didnt last long enough to see how Rampage would deal with a true LHW. But I can give you an excuse (Chuck dominated the division so long that he wasnt hungry when he fought Rampage)(And he didnt take Jardine serious) Look IMO Forrest is a true LHW, the dude is big, thats why I think he’ll give Rampage problems.

by JV on Jun 11, 2008 9:20 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

JV, size doesn’t mean they’ll win the fight, look at wandy vs jardine. and excuses that a person’s mind was not 100% in the fight made by fans such as us doesn’t hold water because we’re implying that it was an issue without it being fact, but a knee injury such as shogun’s is not a guess, it’s a fact! As far as rampage not fighting true LHWs I guess you’re right, if you only count his UFC fights and excludes everything else. I’ve followed rampage for a long time, I know what he’s capable of doing, and I have a pretty good feeling of what’s going to go down in his fight with forrest. Sorry, but to me it’s not going to be even close…

by linx on Jun 11, 2008 9:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I didnt say size wins linx, I said Forrest’s size will give Rampage problems. To me a mental problem is worse than a physical one, but thats besides the point. All I’m saying is, I think Forrest has a much better chance at winning than people give him credit for. All these comments have been posted before, Forrest has no chance against Shogun, Wandy will destroy Chuck, I think john said Davis would KO Swick, Penn would submit Hughes in there second fight, Serra has no chance at GSP in there first, you get my point?

by JV on Jun 11, 2008 10:16 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

JV, I know where you’re coming from, upsets do happen in MMA and it happens quite often. The thing is, if I were to bet money on the matter, I’d bet rampage for what I know what he’s capable of than forrest. Rampage has just more ‘weight’ on this issue to me, he is the favorite but an upset is not impossible and we all know that. But if I was to bet, I’d bet my house on page :)

BTW, what I meant about the mental issue is that we make these things up for the fighters, chuck to my knowledge never came out and said he didn’t take page and jardine seriously (if he did I would lose a lot of respect for the guy). But the fans were the ones who said this. So we’re making excuses for them, while an injury is not a guess as it is with the mental issue, it’s a fact.

by linx on Jun 11, 2008 10:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Speaking of Serra-GSP, I still haven’t come across anyone who predicted the winner in both fights. The guys that picked Serra to beat GSP in the first match also picked him to win the second match. Anybody know any different?

by Pat on Jun 11, 2008 10:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

linx, I’m glad you said upsets happen, so why all the Forrest is getting massacred? So you agree Forrest has a better chance than people say right? And I understand completely on the betting part cause I’m not betting on Forrest, but I do want him to win. I’m not one to make excuses for fighters if I’m a fan. I’ll always give credit were credit is do.

by JV on Jun 11, 2008 10:46 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

JV, I’m still going to say rampage is going to destroy forrest, but there is always a chance for upstes (this is why I’m not the betting type)!

by linx on Jun 11, 2008 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The other problem with the argument about Shogun’s injury is that while one can say it was his poor conditioning that cost him at the end of the fight, he was getting bettered early in the fight before the cardio was an issue. Also, Forrest had shoulder surgery afterwards. He was less 100%. The knee injury is fact. The impact it had on the fight compared to all other factors is speculation. That is also fact!

by PJJ on Jun 11, 2008 10:47 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

PJJ, I’m not going to debate this again, to me a knee injury is much worse than a shoulder injury but this debate is old and done for. I’m just glad shogun is recovering and might be fighting chuck next, and when he beats chuck the loss to forrest is not going to matter much anymore because by then he’ll have lost to page :)

by linx on Jun 11, 2008 11:31 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Linx: I would have ended the argument a long time ago. U r a patient man! Good luck trying to talk some sense into those 2. I gave up on JV a long time ago!

MMamania.com can you or the mma community ask the ufc if they can air all bouts including the indercard on every fight for extra money …cux i like others have a mac and we cant watch it on demand anyway. Also an extra 5 bucks and i’d pay.
i’m sick of the shorter cards as compared to the past with an increased ppv.
thanks!

I see two things wrong with your post:1- Chuck is not overrated, he has faced possibly the toughest list of opponents out of anyone. 2 Judging by your s/n, you listen to Insane Clown Posse, and they are terrible. haha

by ( (Adam G) ) on Jun 11, 2008 1:49 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

over-rated chuck was defending the title every 2 to 3 months not sitting out of the game for 10 months, I don’t blame rampage for that, but the ufc always says 205 is the most hotly contested title, but it hasn’t been contested since sept of last year. DANA WHITE NEEDS TO MAKE SURE NO CHAMPION SITS OUT OF THE GAME FOR TEN MONTHS. Rampage is probably wondering why he has had the belt for a year and hasn’t been able to showcase his talent but one time, give the man a chance to build his legacy as champ. DO NOT LEAVE A CHAMPION ON THE BENCH, AND DON’T LEAVE THE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE ON THE SHELF FOR TEN MONTHS, SHOW THE FANS MORE RESPECT THAN THAT.

Forrest seems like a cool guy and I don’t question his heart, but he is going to get blasted at some point in this fight. The prevailing opinion is that if Chuck wins in September, he will get the next shot. I am wondering if this is one of those deals where Wandy matches up better with Rampage than Chuck does. It might be better for Chuck if Wandy fights Rampage in the fall.

by Sacto on Jun 11, 2008 1:21 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think you are right, but I think Chuck will end up getting the shot before Wandy. I kinda look at it like this:
Chuck=rock
Wandy=scissors
Rampage=paper

by naturalshadow on Jun 11, 2008 2:07 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

natural, even though I feel wandy will beat chuck in a rematch, that has to be the best argument for some of the MMA stuns ever regarding styles. so many times we have this happen and this is the first reference to a rocks, paper, scissors game I ever seen. good job!

What do you guys think for the betting on this event? Who looks good? Im thinkin a little on Jackson, even though he is a big favorite.
BUt the one that stands out to me is Lytle, who right now is +240. Thats pretty bomb man, i mean Lytle is a beast, Serra and Hughes couldnt hurt him on the ground, so Kos ahs his work cut out for him, and Lytle will kill him in stand up I think. What does everybody think?

by The Anomaly on Jun 11, 2008 2:50 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The Anomaly: I already bet $200 on Chris Lytle. I feel that Lytle is going to flat out, KO Koschek!

Also, dont let the odds on the Rampage fight scare you off! Rampage will win the fight in under 3 rounds, so the odds really dont matter. I am betting RAMPAGE BIG!!!!

I will also end up throwing some money on Almeida. His stand up is good enough to keep him in the fight, but once it goes to the ground, he is on a class above the rest…I see him submitting Cote (who I happen to be a big fan of)…Just calling it like I see it!

Am I the only one noticing they’ve changed the way they’re promoting the Cote-Almeida fight? It’s not “for a title shot” anymore, but “for moving up the contention ladder” or something among those lines.

That is, if this trailer ain’t actually older than the one on the 86.ufc.com website.

by Raul on Jun 11, 2008 5:29 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs
