Rob Yundt vs Rob Kimmons Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale fight scheduled with Alessio Sakara injured

Rob Kimmons

Mixed martial arts veteran Rob Kimmons (20-3) will finally get his shot at the big time when he replaces an injured Alessio Sakara and takes on Rob Yundt (6-1) in a middleweight bout at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 Finale.

"Legionarius" was forced to withdraw from the contest because of a broken ankle sustained during training.

Kimmons has been all over the place throughout his five-year professional career, competing for organizations such as International Fighting Organization (IFO), American Bushido, Titan Fighting Championships (TFC) and Victory Fighting Championships (VFC), among others. The Kansas City-bred fighter is on a three-fight win streak, including a submission victory (rear naked choke) over the super tough Tristan Yunker back in late 2007.

Yundt — an Alaska Fighting Championship veteran — had the unenviable task of taking a fight on short notice against Brazilian jiu-jitsu stud Ricardo Almeida at UFC 81: "Breaking Point" back in February. He lost that fight (the first of his career) via submission (guillotine choke) in round one.

TUF 7 Finale will feature the middleweight showdown between former 185-pound champion, Evan Tanner, and TUF 3 middleweight winner, Kendall Grove. In addition, Diego Sanchez will meet Luigi Fioravanti in a welterweight tilt and the finalists from this season of TUF will meet in the finals to determine the tournament winner.

For the latest TUF 7 Finale fight card, which is set to take place from The Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at 9 p.m. ET on SpikeTV. click here.

seems to me they are keeping him around b/c he’s the most successful ex boxer and they can always say that mma is on the same level as boxing and use sakara to prove that point. Either that or sakara has pictures of dana in compromising positions, either way who cares.

Win or Loose, I cant really say that I have ever seen Sakara in a boring fight, so I am happy that they arent getting rid of him. He clearly did not belong at 205 lbs, and although he has had problems in the middleweight division, I still feel that he could eventually turn it around and improve. If not, at least he goes down swinging….and I cant hate a guy like that. Much Respect!

sakara has had a couple of tough breaks his last couple fights! throwing him in there to people to beat up on isnt exactly how you see things going! first they threw him in there as bait to houston alexander , and in his last fight chris leben! i hope he comes back! he is fun to watch !

I thought Kendall Grove was going to do good at MW. I hope he can get back on track, and throw all those bricks off whatever bridge he can find.

Kimmons will submit Yundt first round just like Ricardo did at UFC 81
