MMA Quick Quote: Count Elite XC among Tito Ortiz suitors

"We're interested. We'd love to have Tito Ortiz as part of our organization. Any organization out there would love to have Tito. Yeah, we're talking. We'll see what happens. The deal has to be good for both sides. He'd be a great addition to our organization. But there are a lot of people actively pursuing him."
-- Elite XC matchmaker Jeremy Lappen reveals more obviousness during a recent conference call to promote "Return of the King:" his promotion is interested and has been in contact with free agent and former UFC champion Tito Ortiz. Of course, the big money fight would be a rematch with former UFC middleweight champion, Frank Shamrock. Remember that Affliction MMA is also interested in the services of "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy." One would imagine that a decision from Ortiz would be forthcoming in the next month or so.

I think Tito wants to be a champ. Maybe he’ll sign with Affliction but he knows he can be a champ with EXC. Just saying its a possibility
by Bic on Jun 10, 2008 9:18 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That would actually make sense considering what an egotistical @sshole Tito is. Too bad for him EXC chumps don’t count in the real world!
He’ll sign where the money is- Trump, his greed will outweigh his pride, just like Randy

..you can take that to Donald’s Bank. Tito is not that dumb..your new Mega Billion $ Buddy wants you down with him..and his new alliance with MMA Affliction..if Tito doesn’t say yess to Trump..he will be shooting an artery in his own leg.

If he signs with Elite he will be unemployed again very soon once this pretender to the throne goes belly-up.

If he signed with ANYONE besides Affliction, it would prove that his Gigantic head is completely vacant.

I’ve been commenting that Tito is the perfect fit for ELITE XC. Tito wants to be champion again for an organization that will support the antics of a TITO & JENNA, and ELITE XC wants a spectacle of a promotion. I’d rather have a soon to be overthehill ex-UFC Champion as their poster boy, than what they have right now.
Affliction is obviously an upcomer, but it looks like they’re going to sign quality fighters, that can KO Tito the Fuck Out! Remember, Tito wants to be Champion so he can Hawk his name & products, losing won’t help him. Why not sell himself to a new ignorant crowd of MMA fans?… they’ll bite!

Takanori Gomi and Frank Trigg have been added to the end of summer Sengoku card. No mention of who their opponents will be.

BOYCOTT EliteXC! They aren’t even Busch league.
by the_mexicutioner on Jun 10, 2008 9:19 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Calling them Busch League is an insult to all things truly Busch League.
by Haze on Jun 10, 2008 9:26 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
actually it’s “bush” league. You guys just insulted really bad beer. lol
by chefdaddy on Jun 10, 2008 9:44 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Not bad beer, just beer intended for mass consumption, particularly by the budget-conscious college crowd.
by PW on Jun 10, 2008 10:15 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Actually no it’s not, it’s “Busch League”. The term is derived from Nascar’s joke of an undercard, the Busch League of racing.

Well, cr@p, there went my lame joke. lol
by chefdaddy on Jun 10, 2008 10:35 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Actually it is bush league, I just googled it. Meaning inferior quality.
by chefdaddy on Jun 10, 2008 10:37 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Aparently we are both right, in the Urban Dictionary they both have the same meening.

LOL, yes we did. Now I will never have to get in an argument about it again.

I will admit to having been confused with the spelling of that myself before. Mostly because I am also a NASCAR fan.
by naturalshadow on Jun 10, 2008 5:48 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Although in a more modern term, people associate it with NASCAR, the saying actually predates the car races by a long shot. It started around 1910 and is associated with minor league baseball where the fields weren’t as nice and were occasionally hedged by “bushes”. I am a font of useless knowledge. lol

Those drop over ads are really annoying. Not that you care. im sure its a great way to feed the family. When are you gonna make rankings?

Tito and Fedor?? could always use a good laugh.
by smelltheodore on Jun 10, 2008 9:35 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I know Tito is past his prime, but he always backed up the shit he talked, so why all the hate?
by JV on Jun 10, 2008 10:06 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Really? He backed everything up against Chuck? And then when he fought Chuck again? Or Machida? How about when he cheated his way to a draw against Rashad, did he back up his BS then?
by PW on Jun 10, 2008 10:20 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I meant when he was champ. And you didnt answer the question, why so much hate?
by JV on Jun 10, 2008 10:22 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
back when he was champ fighters werent as well rounded as they are now. the sport is still growing and guys like tito and hughes need to up there game if there gunna stick around. otherwise they will start to look like ken shamrock.
by smelltheodore on Jun 10, 2008 10:29 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Still no answer to, why the hate? Look Tito could have come into his last fight and pulled a (starnes) but he didnt. He came to fight, Machida almost pulled the (starnes). Then he could have talked shit about the UFC but he didnt.
by JV on Jun 10, 2008 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Tito never evolved with the sport. He is a one-dimensional fighter who is still living off his successes from long ago. Tito was happy to fight Chuck twice when Chuck was champ but refused to defend against Chuck when he was champ. He generates interest in his fights by trashing oppponents because he knows he is no longer interesting or compelling to watch or relevant to the LHW title. In spite of the fact that he is irrelevant and uncompelling, he still thinks he desrves 7 figures per fight. He has basically spent the last several years using fighting as a way to promote his business, similar to what Alan “Monstah Lobstah” Berubie was doing (except Tito was about 1000 times better at it than Lobstah). He claims to speak for all the UFC fighters when he trashes Dana White and the UFC, but nobody has actually confirmed their agreement with his petty rants. There’s probably a lot more reasons I could give, but I think that’s enough to make my point.
by PW on Jun 10, 2008 11:07 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
The reason that I ask about the hate is that most guys bashing him now are probably the same guys who used to cheer for him when he was the champ.
If your a fan of a fighter you should not turn into a hater just cause the fighter is past his prime.
by JV on Jun 10, 2008 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I always hated Tito. A large part of it did have to do with me being a huge Shamrock fan in the the 90’s, (and still to this day, even if he just takes beatings)and a huge Chuck fan since he first smashed Tito.
by naturalshadow on Jun 10, 2008 5:51 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It’s obvious that these guys are jealous. Tito has been in mma for 11 years and he sells out venues every fight. He is a pioneer of the sport and doesn’t care what people think. He will always speak his mind and be a rebel to set the way for future fighters. If UFC can’t step it up for their big name fighters they will obviously go to other organizations. Tito is only doing what the others should be doing. Using his brain not just his fists.

Tito will sighn with affliction cause donald will take care of his fighters, and remember tito will be a champ soon enough as soon as he signs anywhere cause he back to his basic style of fighting gnp baby!!Any where he signs people will probably run from him like machida did but i hope not stand in there and fight thats the fights i like to watch!
by ORTIZ!!!!!!08....BABY! on Jun 10, 2008 11:25 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
you are so right! just look at all the GNP he did against Machida….
wait a sec….

I like when Tito waves his hand around like he’s doing in the picture. I always think he’s thinking whoopdido, who cares about me. Cause I definetly don’t, please no more news on Tito.
by Bic on Jun 10, 2008 11:35 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Frank Shamrock would destroy the shell that is Tito Ortiz.
by KneeToTheFace on Jun 10, 2008 11:58 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
if u dont remember chuck was basically tito’s body guard back then taking out kevin randleman and vitor belfort. while tito was fighting…smaller competition i guess like evan tanner( i like tanner but i dont think he could hold out against vitor orrandleman) then tito didnt want to fight chuck at all and went with randy and got beaten then chuck fought randy lost then tito was forced to fight chuck and got his ass whooped. thats why everyone hates tito
by tapps on Jun 10, 2008 3:05 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Affliction have moe high quality fighters than EXC. Tito would not waste his time scrappin in EXC it’s ridiculous. Donald will pay him more money and better care than EXC.
by Ro on Jun 10, 2008 4:21 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Wherever Tito goes, it will be a step down from the UFC. All of these other organizations don’t even hold a candle to WEC let alone UFC.
In short, this is where Tito belongs. All talk and no action. I liken these organizations to pro wrestling.

Tito Ortiz is definitely the biggest Superstar in MMA… it’s just too bad that he’s just too big of a Star for guys like Dana White and many fans of this sport right now.. it’s also a shame that he’s not fighting in the best organization and gets paid like he should.. He’s kinda like the David Beckham of MMA right now, not the best but a huge star and is the biggest draw in the game for sure ! … whether you like him or not
by RoB on Jun 10, 2008 8:52 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Tito has a smaller draw than Chuck, BJ Penn, GSP, Rampage, Wanderlie and others. Titoa is about the same draw as Lesner, Shogan Rua and Anderson Silva.
Affliction should change their name to xufc. and exc should throw in the towel. wec is faaber n that is it.
