Who is the creepy old guy in a bunch of the photos?

by thetuf75 on Jun 9, 2008 2:26 PM EDT reply actions

dont mean to get off subject guys…but in the last post i saw that the idea of bisping fighting the wiinner of Cote/Almeida fight for a title shot. well i saw the website for the fight and they are saying it a fight for a title shot! is this correct? is my boy Cote finally gonna get his chance at lime lite?

by santiago69us on Jun 9, 2008 2:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Its all just hype, no way Cote or Almeida should/will get a title fight any time soon.

Loads of great second tier match-ups but The Spider is way up there by himself.

by MoonUK on Jun 9, 2008 2:47 PM EDT up reply actions

that has nothing to do with anyone getting a title shot…silva maybe on another lvl…doesnt mean anyone else shouldnt get a shot at hime…losing to silva isnt the worst thing that can happen to your career.

by santiago69us on Jun 9, 2008 3:43 PM EDT up reply actions

If cote fights bisping that’ll be the last we see of the frenchie =P

by O damn he got caught on Jun 9, 2008 2:53 PM EDT up reply actions

lol! no way Cote may not be the best out there but he is higly underrated…if he could eat lebens and mcfedries punches..im sure he can handle bisping his first MW defeat by tko. the only thing i see being a factor here is cote’s ground game..we will see a test there.

by santiago69us on Jun 9, 2008 3:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Cote would be the toughest opponent Bisping has ever faced

by john on Jun 9, 2008 5:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Davis fought like a the irish bottle rocket instead of a hand gernade! Very dissapointed! I cant stand Swick either. What a surprise, swick in a boring fight? who would have ever thought? lol

Old creepy guy? you mean Chuck?

Don’t know if this has been posted anywhere here yet so if it has i apologize but i thought this was interesting.

by SpiderStyle on Jun 9, 2008 2:27 PM EDT reply actions

i don’t believe it. no way would the ufc pay him $200 million.

by kitsunex on Jun 9, 2008 2:41 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah, that seems WAY HIGH, even in boxing that sounds WAY HIGH. No way dana would spent 200 mil in someone that he knows will lose to any decent MMA fighter. If this is true I’ll honestly be speechless, no one makes even a mil a fight, much less 200 mil…

by linx on Jun 9, 2008 2:57 PM EDT up reply actions

I called it first, and 200 million over 5 years is doable. ppv buys will soar, and he’ll take him slow, unlike what they did to lesner

by kevin on Jun 9, 2008 3:12 PM EDT up reply actions

That is way worse than the kimbo deal, and that is the downfall of a sh!t Show.

by ro-J on Jun 9, 2008 3:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Mayweather has all fucked up hands, no way he would fight in mits, NO WAY.

by MoonUK on Jun 9, 2008 4:33 PM EDT up reply actions

He also claims that he got paid $200 million dollars to appear at Wrestlemania. YEAH RIGHT Money May.

He got more along the lines of $2 mil.

This $200 million must be his new random number that he likes to throw out there.

I didn’t read the link, because I know its not true.

HOWEVER, Dana did say that he has some kind of GIANT announcement to make this week…

But if he signed Floyd, he’d fight in the WEC because those would be his weights

by ViolentMike on Jun 9, 2008 3:36 PM EDT up reply actions

200 mil would be 40 mil a year over the next 5 years. thats probably more per year than what the ufc pays all its fighters on the payroll right now. these #s are bogus. what would the rest of the ufc fighter say? maybee, just maybee its not out of the realm of them signing floyd for 1 fight, but that would be it. 1 mma fight would be all it would take for the “pretty boy” to retire again.

by b.w. on Jun 9, 2008 3:44 PM EDT up reply actions

411 mania.com has dana white denying the maywether rumors. he is also on record saying that the big announcement is NOT a t.v. deal, according to them.

by b.w. on Jun 9, 2008 3:48 PM EDT up reply actions

They’ve sold UFC….FOX

by MoonUK on Jun 9, 2008 3:50 PM EDT up reply actions

no way…you want him on the big show…to put him in wec would just a waste of marketing..i saw ufc has plans for him at lightweight if they do sign him…which i know he wont sign. unless the give him someone like..sam stout…id love so hands of stone give it to pretty boy.

by santiago69us on Jun 9, 2008 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Maybe he means after he gets a couple million he and his home boys will make photocopies of the bills until it looks like $200 million. http://www.faniq.com/blog/Floyd-Mayweather-Jr-Makes-It-Rain-With-Counterfeit-100s-Blog-8949

by PW on Jun 9, 2008 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions

The UFC is making there own channel. Just like Cuban has HDnet, thats what the UFC is doing.

by JV on Jun 9, 2008 5:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Floyd is simply too small to fight at 155. Mayweather is a SMALL WELTERWEIGHT. And in boxing, welterwieght is between 140 – 147 pounds. LW’s in the UFC cut at least 15 lbs, meaning they walk around at about 170. Mayweather does not walk around over 150.

by santiago69us on Jun 9, 2008 2:34 PM EDT reply actions

I hope this is true – but can you imagine the bad taste the genuine MMA fighters will have in their mouths knowing that he is getting that big of a payday!!!!

by GROUNDNPOUNDUK on Jun 9, 2008 2:39 PM EDT reply actions

Im sorry but I will have to see it to beleive it. Zuffa isnt gonna shell that kind of money out for anyone.

Anyone one notice Nates wandering hand? He’s feeling up some bald dude.

by Nokimono on Jun 9, 2008 2:45 PM EDT reply actions

Mania get on this please I can’t wait till Thursday….

by getrawbc on Jun 9, 2008 2:49 PM EDT reply actions

NO chance he gets 200 mil from the UFC. I think the big news thursday is gonna be a announcement on a network deal. Fox ESPN or ABC

by Fokman on Jun 9, 2008 2:56 PM EDT reply actions

I agree with you Fokman. It would make sense if ESPN took it. The coverage on ESPN’s MMA page has treated the sport with class. The show with Florian is great, it is like Sportscenter for MMA. I hope this is the deal. Although if it goes to ABC, ESPN would probably get it as well considering same ownership. Fingers crossed.

by thetuf75 on Jun 9, 2008 2:59 PM EDT up reply actions

i believe FOX is the perfect obstacle to tackle…a bunch of consercvative ignorants that want to protect boxing cuz McCain wants it that way…anyways FOX wouls solidify the entire US portion untouched by MMA.

by santiago69us on Jun 9, 2008 3:48 PM EDT up reply actions

wow davis looks like he got beat up good. I haven’t had a chance to see this fight yet. I’m a davis fan and hope this fight brought him down to earth a little bit. He was getting a bit too cocky for a minute. He should go back to the gym and work on what this ass kicking taught him.

by Fidel Cashflow on Jun 9, 2008 3:23 PM EDT reply actions

I personally would love to see Mayweather come to the UFC. Then the WEC would become even more like a proving ground for the UFC, with the UFC having its own 145lb division. Also it would put to rest the argument of a world class boxer vs an MMA fighter.

by Nokimono on Jun 9, 2008 3:36 PM EDT reply actions

no it never will…its apples and oranges. if you took mayweather into a cage with someone with mma rules…they other guy would win…if he knows not to trade with mayweather lol…now same deal vice versa if that mma guy fought mayweather in boxing…mayweather would have a better fight with his sparring mates

by santiago69us on Jun 9, 2008 3:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Thats true, never been any world class boxers fight properly in MMA.

by MoonUK on Jun 9, 2008 3:53 PM EDT up reply actions

What i don’t understand is why bring in a guy like Maywether but deny Silva the chance to fight RJJ? A washed up and old RJJ to be exact.

by SpiderStyle on Jun 9, 2008 3:54 PM EDT up reply actions

and a RJJ that would whoop Silva in a boxing match!

by Griffinfan05 on Jun 9, 2008 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Silva is not allowed to fight RJJ due to his contract. Mayweather can do what he wants and I’m sure if he wanted to fight in the UFC Dana would make it happen. Face it Mayweather vs ? would bring in more $ than even Fedor vs Randy could. I still don’t think Mayweather is coming though. Its a TV deal.

AND…RJJ is not washed up by any means. I wish he would come to MMA instead. He is a true fighter.

by Nokimono on Jun 9, 2008 7:05 PM EDT up reply actions

You’re all HIGH speculating Mayweather will fight MMA… not in a fuckin’ million years… he doesn’t have that kind of mentality… he has more mouth than guts. Boxing mentality… sure, in boxing… In MMA.. NO FUCKIN’ WAY!

by THORAZINE on Jun 9, 2008 4:12 PM EDT reply actions

HEY MANIA!!!! got wind of a rumor that Gomi is in vegas training. do you know if there is any truth to that…i dont remember where i sa wit…cage potato..five ounces..on those smaller sites. maybe the announcement will be a light weight grand prix/gomi-bj rematch! man i would cream myself if gomi was in the ufc!

by santiago69us on Jun 9, 2008 4:36 PM EDT reply actions

Lets just put this Floyd Mayweather BS to bed. Here’s a quote strait from Dana White:

Carmichael Dave of KHTK 1140 in Sacramento, California posted a text message he received from UFC president Dana White regarding Floyd Mayweather signing with the UFC and being the “huge announcement” that is expected to be announced on Thursday:

“LMFAO! Neeeeevver! I have been in london and just landed in NYC! If I was gonna pay 200 million (dollars), it would be to mixed martial artists who fight their fuckin’ asses off, not a bunch of pussy boxers that don’t fuckin’ fight. And you can quote me on that.”

White has also gone on record and stated that the “huge announcement” will not be a TV deal.

Heres the link directly to it:

by BadVibes on Jun 9, 2008 4:58 PM EDT reply actions

I dont see how any red blooded man can concentrate on anything having Arianny Celeste around.

by bostonmmajunkie on Jun 9, 2008 5:24 PM EDT reply actions

Dana White has already denied that he was signing Mayweather. He has also gone on the record saying that its not a television deal… so speculate on.

by BadVibes on Jun 9, 2008 5:24 PM EDT reply actions

I know what the big announcement is…Dana White is going to be on the next season of dancing with the stars.

by Macho Bullshit on Jun 9, 2008 6:42 PM EDT up reply actions

The one thing I’m really hoping it is not, is Chuck Liddell vs Kimbo Slice.

I’d throw up in my own mouth and then slowly swallow it to savor my disgust.

by DirtyML on Jun 9, 2008 7:36 PM EDT reply actions

The Mayweather talk is garbage, you’re foolish to think Dana White, of all people, is gonna put up that much money for Pretty Boy when he wouldn’t do it for Fedor? White has publicly said he thinks Floyd is garbage and has no business in a cage, so scratch that one off the conspiracy list. Seriously folks, I know it’s poking at everyones brain to know what this announcement is, but it’s only a couple more days, so lets all just be patient and stop speculating farfetched stuff…….though that fox deal sounds legit………

by primary_Knukkle on Jun 9, 2008 8:14 PM EDT reply actions

What if it is that there adding featherweight….not likely but whatever!

by alex on Jun 9, 2008 8:56 PM EDT reply actions

There’s no way the UFC is paying $200 million for ONE fighter in Mayweather. They just paid $65-$70 million for Pride – an entire organization consisting of how many fighters? – about 14 months ago.
I don’t think they’re preparded for another poor investment.

by Dugout on Jun 9, 2008 9:29 PM EDT reply actions

THEy didn’t buy PRIDE, they bought it, kept a few fighters, and then lied to us, the mma public about their intentions and, DESTROYED any intentions of having PRIDE vs the UFC or any GRANDPRIX…
THANKS!!!!

HOPEFULLY DANA will sell the ufc, as he said in rolling stone he’s not in the MMA buisness but the ufc buisness, and alls he cares about is the UFC as a brand, and himself.

by GORANDY on Jun 9, 2008 9:56 PM EDT reply actions

You are a complete space cadet.

by chefdaddy on Jun 10, 2008 9:13 AM EDT up reply actions

I think JV is correct, UFC is making their own channel (like cubans HDNET) that would be great! All fights, all day! Especially now that the WEC is offical after the Faber/Pulver card, two orgs to deal with means a lot of TV time. Sorry spike, sorry Versus, it was fun. Or BJ Penn is defending his title gladiator style against a lion.

by ( (Adam G) ) on Jun 9, 2008 10:31 PM EDT reply actions

I was thinking that cause they sure have the money for it. And like you said UFC and WEC, they can put Fight Night, TUF, Unleashed, Wired, maybe make some kind of TUF for WEC to get 135 & 145ers.
