Is the fight going to be in a ring or a cage? I think that will make a huge difference because Fedor will be able to take down Sylvia easily if its a ring, but if its a cage then Tim can use that to stay on his feet and pound away? Anyone know?

Fedor has more takedowns than just a single-leg. It will take more for Sylvia to survive than relying on his sprawl. Tim couldn’t finish Monson, so I doubt he can put the Russian away.

Not to say Sylvia doesn’t stand a chance; hell, Fujita almost KO’d Fedor. He is human and Tim is a respectable striker. However, he’s no better than Mark Hunt and has lesser ground skills.

i agree, fedor will take a couple good shots from tim, then he’ll probably arm-bar him. tim loses to submissions he prepares for, nog knew that and caught him in the guillotine. tim is gonna look to avoid the arm-lock, but he’ll still probably fall to it

yeah and a lot of times the japs in pride tried to make him lose his belt to a jap or a Brazilian. ask any american or russian (or eurasian) fighters how they were treated in pride compared to the japanese and the brazilian fighters. Fedor never had it easy, yet he remained the champ

your not the original john right? thr orginal john would never say this unless he was being sarcastic. i think tim has a chance because of his size and strength and he always comes in shape but mainly becuase of fedors inactivity and lack of credible competiton over the last couple of years. but if it came right down to it and i had to bet money i’d pick fedor by armbar in the 3rd? i know this fights in the ring, but is it 5 five minute rnds or 3. or is it 1 10 minute rnd and 2 5 min rnds? anyone outhere got the download on the time limit or the rules (elbows allowed)? I guarentee Fedor will Rock Tims world standing. Fedor will catch him with one of his destructive left heand (lead hand) Hooks.

What you people dont understand is that there is no way Tim wins this fight. Remember how confused Tim was when he was fighting Randy? Tim was so confused because he was so worried about being taken down that randy was able to pick him apart standing…..This fight will be ecev worse for Tim. It will be very similar to what Randy did to him except that Tim wont be able to go the distance against Fedor. You think Tim was afreaid to go to the ground with Randy? Well he will be petrified of being taken down by Fedor….Leaving himself suspect to being picked apart in the stand up.

Fedor is Tim’s worse Nightmare. This fight will be very similar to the couture fight except Fedor will finish Tim, probably second round, by either arm bar or ground n pound.

Tim is not in the same class as Fedor. Randy and Nog. Fedor has the ground n pound of Couture, with the dangerous submissions of Nogueira….and a stand up better then both Nog and Randy, so how could Tim possibly survive this fight against a man that has never lost a single round?

Couture gave Tim nightmares but Fedor will be worse.

Fedor is better then Randy at everything:

Stand up…Fedor much better then couture

Takedowns: Randy n Fedor are probably equal but their takedowns are different. Randy does the wrestling takedowns (single legs and double legs), Fedor clinches twists his hips and takes you for a ride

Ground n Pound: Randy is good, but Fedor’s is much more powerful….Wait till you see Fedor’s world class ground n pound with Elbows added…..Scary!

Submissions: Fedor is a much better submission fighter then Couture

Chin: Fedor’s chin is better then Coutures

So how can Tim win this fight? No way, thats how.

All Fedor has to do is keep mixing it up and keep Tim guessing like Couture did….only difference will be Tim gets finished, he wont make it to a decision for sure.

Tim KO’s Fedor. Fedor has almost lost several fights because of bleeding and had to quickly get his opponents to the ground for a tap out. Fedor decisioned Big Nog and Tim Sylvia destroyed Big Nog on his feet until Nog submitted him. Fedor doesn’t win many by KO or TKO, but only via submission.

Arloski vs Big Ben (IFL)- Arloski via decision. Big Ben is Tim’s training partner.

Tims a bad style matchup for Fedor.
Reach advantage, good sprawl, very strong in the clinch, good jab, good hands.

Fedors gunna have trouble clinching him, cant shoot on him, he might try and submit from the bottom, thats the only viable option. After all that is Tims weakness, he tends to get either reversed or submitted when on top on the ground.

A Tim win is gonna make a Couture vs Fedor fight lose a lot of its luster.

But if you look at the heavy weights Affliction has signed, man, they’ve got the best heavy weight division with a lot of good fight possibilities. – IMO

Awesome somebody else wants to see AA and Fedor go at it. I think AA would be more of a challenge for Fedor than Tim. He has better ground skills and great stand up. It’d be more of a test for Fedor but who knows who Fedor will face after Sylvia if he wins.

tim’s takedown defense sux, fedor will take him down & beat him up.

Lately Sylvia’s striking has become kinda ridiculous, he has half the power he used to have in his early days (cabbage, ricco). I guess it has something to do with supplements he used to take that now may have been banned.

In the fight with Vera his combinations were so weak I could’t believe it.

no way he is gonna knock anybody out anytime soon, for sure not a guy like fedor.

I think Tim is going to ruin Coutures hopes and dreams. I actually am hoping for it big time. Tim has been in so many more real fight in the last few years then Fedor. Fedor is pound for pound the real baddest man on the planet. Anybody who has followed his career knows that he has absoutly no weakness whether it’s stand-up or ground and pound. His strikes are better than champion boxers and his submissions are better than any fighter from brazil or japan!
