Tanner is a bad ass, one of the most honest down to earth fighters. I’m glad to see him back.

Am I the only person who is wondering why these two are getting top billing on a ufc live card?? No disrespect but neither one of them has had an important win in the past few fights. Tanner is past his prime and Groove has looked bad his last two fights. I think the fight will be a good one but I don’t think it deserves co-main event status. Clearly the loser will most likely be released so at least you know they have something to fight for. Tough fight to call though. I’ll probably go with Groove, just b/c of his youth and reach on Tanner.

No. I feel the same way.

I really cant see Kendall’s Tiny, fragile chin holding up in a fight against Tanner.

Okami was a very tough opponent for Tanner to face off against in his first fight back….Now that he shook the cage rust off, I really expect him to put a beating on Kendall.

why r u guys complaining about this fight? The fight to complain about is Luigi vs. Diego! I like both fighters but Luigi, stylistically is tailor made for Diego.

Having a TUF winner fighting an ex UFC champ, what are they thinking?

by Haze on Jun 5, 2008 10:02 AM EDT up reply actions

lol. Good way to put it.

These guys must not have seen the rest of the card.

by jess on Jun 5, 2008 10:13 AM EDT up reply actions

Jess,

I have seen the card. What’s your point?

Haze,

Its an overrated TUF winner with a losing streak vs. a past his prime ex-UFC champ who got crushed in his last fight.

Do you have a post that’s actually worth reading?

by OJR on Jun 5, 2008 10:25 AM EDT up reply actions

And I have to agree with Haze, what were they thinking? You didn’t embelish enough on his point to put him down, bro.

by chefdaddy on Jun 5, 2008 10:43 AM EDT up reply actions

Chefdaddy,

I gave my point. If you disagree with it, I have no problem. Everyone has a right to their opinion. No hard feelings. End of story.

Now now. No need to be jerks. It’s a UFN, not a pay per view. Tanner vs Grove deserves to be at the top of the card.

Well said Jess. OJR, You’re a jerk face.HA!

Tanner is the fing man, one of my all time favorite fighters. I’ll be pulling for him big time in this fight, should be a war!

by Haze on Jun 5, 2008 9:41 AM EDT reply actions

If Grove has been training not partying and comes in the Octagon wanting to win he should score the victory over Tanner. Got loads of respect for Tanner over coming his personal issues just think Grove can take him if he wants it bad enough.

by UKmmaBOY on Jun 5, 2008 9:47 AM EDT reply actions

I really like Tanner, like his style all that stuff, and his heart is in the right place, although he isn’t getting any younger and Grove is a tall athletic and young guy, so my bet would be with Grove, but I hate the guy and I’ll be going for Tanner all the way.

War face beard!

by Primary_Knukkle on Jun 5, 2008 10:16 AM EDT reply actions

With the beard, Tanner is the white Kimbo. But not as intimidating. I hope he does well in this fight though…I always pull for the older legends who want to make a comeback.

by damaja on Jun 5, 2008 10:48 AM EDT reply actions

if grove can get past his initial assault and keep from being cornered and pushed up against the cage, he’l win this fight easy. grove has a weak chin, but still has alot of talent. tanner is a gamer but his time has passed.

by b.w. on Jun 5, 2008 11:12 AM EDT reply actions

Grove is possibly the most overrated fighters, the only reason he continues to get fightsis on account of him being in Tito ortiz’s fight camp, he’s a terrible fighter who has no credibiltiy. Who has he beaten? Ed Herman in a unanimous decision victory, that doesnt mean shit. tanner would Murder his skinny ass, if anyone should be fighting Evan tanner it should be Patrick Cote. Cote definitly should fight the gatekeeper in the middleweight division, if Cote could beat tanner he woould definitly fightthe winner of a possible Dan Henderson nate Marquardt fight then fight Anderson for the belt

by Fight Intelligence on Jun 5, 2008 11:27 AM EDT reply actions

it’s to bad this isn’t his come back fight, because Kendall is a easier oppoenent for Evan.Okami was just to good of a fighter to go against for a come back fight.it is to bad there is no interesting rematches in the UFC for him other than Ace.and Rich already whooped him twice.

by the Levi on Jun 5, 2008 12:07 PM EDT reply actions

Tanner sounds like he doesn’t have a plan for all those advantages and thats the first thing most obvious difference on paper. Gotta go wit the younger, taller, longer reach hawaii representative. Okami utilized reach advantage pretty easily on Tanner and tagged his face pretty good. Grove willed his way to TUF (i forget which season) winner. he wasn’t supposed to win the whole thing, so you know he has heart going to a war with Herman. Grove by natural causes.

IS that EVAN tanner interviewing Evan tanner?!?!?
SOUNDS LIKE IT…lol

by GORANDY on Jun 5, 2008 6:39 PM EDT reply actions

I’m all for Evan Tanner! Just glad to see him back. His last fight was a little tough but hopefully this one will end different. WAR TANNER!
