Sorry Marquardt, U are not beating Thales!
I know that Nate is good at Ju Jitsu, but Thales is going to catch him in an arm triangle.
Upset Special: Thales via Arm Triangle
I am thales Leites’s biggest FAN!!!

john: I got to go against you on this one..Im not a big fan of either, But I’m goin with Marquardt in this one…
I only bet on the 5 main figts on UFC ppv’s….so far this year I am 17/25 in 2008…
my picks for 85 are..
Hughesus Christ/Alves….as much as i like Alves and hate Hughes, I think Hughesus’s got this one…
Swick/Davis….Davis
Marquardt/Leites….Nate..
Bisping/Day…“Dooms Day”..this is where i imo i will win big..
Bisping is looking real great at MW, but I truly believe he is losing this one…I am a fan of both..
Vera/Werdum…imo this will be fight of the night, and I am not 100% on who I think will win, yet?..
I am routing for Vera, but I know that Werdum is one bad mo-fo!! I am a big fan of both, but probably more Vera.
So for now I will go with Vera..

Stagger Lee, as far as betting goes, we are thinking very similar for this event.
Hughes vs Alvez. This fight is taylor made for Matt Hughes as long as he can get the takedowns. If it stays standing for too long, he might get cought with something. But once he gets Thiago on his back, Hughes will keep him there for the rest of the round, unless he ends in via GnP. I can see Hughes winning by TKO on the ground, submission, or decision. I can only see Thiago winning by TKO/KO. I was still a little up in the air on this one, until it was announced that with a win over Alvez and a win over Serra, then Hughes will get a title shot. Can someone please confirm if this is true, or just a rumor? If its true, I will be betting on Hughes for sure.
Davis/Swick – I already bet over $100 on this fight and will be betting much more as the event gets closer. The initial lines for this fight came out at -115 apiece. I thought that Davis would be the favorite, so I jumped all over those odds. Since then, the odds have changed and Davis is -105 and Swick is -125. THat would have been a better time to bet on Davis. Now I’m hoping that the money keeps getting put on Swick so Davis will become +something. Then I will bet a LOT on him to win. Davis has soooo many more ways to win this fight. Swick’s only shot as a standing swickatine, but I think Davis would be able to get out of it rather easily.
Marquardt/Leites – Ever since I saw Thales’s first UFC fight I saw tons of potential in him. I have been talking about him for a while now, John has as well. He looked great against Martin Kampann even though he lost the decision. Then he fought Pete Sell and that is when I really saw the potential in him. Standing, the edge goes to Nate. I would even give the wrestling to Nate as well. BJJ goes to Thales for sure. I would really like to see Thales with odds better than +140. Getting him at +190 would be ideal.
Bisping/Day – When the odds first came out for this fight, Day was a bigger underdog than Tupperware was. So I instantly put money on Day. He is currently sitting at +250 which is still a great bet to make. It will be interesting to see which way these odds start to sway as the event gets closer.
Vera/Werdum – Currently Vera is -200 and Werdum is +160. The odds were much closer when they were first released. I can’t believe that Vera is that much of a favorite to win. I placed a smallish bet on Werdum at those odds so far.
ALSO, I bet money on Martin Kampann to beat Jorge Rivera. I got him at -250. As long as Martin’s inury is 100% healed, there is no way he loses that fight!

Now for my parlays…
I got a parlay on Hughes and Kampmann to win which is paying out at about +115
I also bet a parlay on Hughes, Kampmann and Davis. This one is paying out a little over +300

for that second parlay you should bet a lot of money. I see all 3 of them winning for sure.

Agreed about the outcome, disagree about you being his biggest fan.
That’d be me. :P

This should be a great fight, but I have Marquardt winning the decision.

Thales is going to fair alot better on his feet than alot of people think. The fight will go to the ground at one point and this is where Nate gets caught. Nate’s stand up is NOT! all that good, not very techical and more brawler than boxer. Brawlers usually will make mistake’s and this is where Thales is his best. Capitalizing on Nates mistakes is where Thales can definatly win this one. Oh by the way Dean Lister should stick to Grap. compitions his no mma fighter.

I like Thales, but he was definitely not impressive in his fight against Kampmann. Kampmann dominated just about every step of that fight minus getting dropped once. I found Leites performances after that fight to be fairly impressive, at least as far as his ground game is concerned. I think he will lose to Nate though.

I guess Stagger-Lee is 17/30 after this one then. :)
