UFC Countdown 85 to 'Bedlam' on Spike TV tonight (Monday)

The "UFC Countdown" 85 special to "Bedlam" will air tonight (June 2) on Spike TV at 11 p.m. ET for the pay-per-view (PPV) event slated to take place at the O2 Arena in London, England, on June 7.
This will be a competitive card on Saturday afternoon and it will be good to get to know some of the up and coming fighters who will be in action.
We have all seen the behind the scenes training of Matt Hughes before; however, one has to wonder about the change in preparation and/or mindset for one of the all time greats of the sport who has himself admitted that he is in the twilight of his career.
His opponent in the main event, Thiago Alves, will also be featured on the show and he is one of the surging talents in the UFC. "The Pitbull" is among a handful of young fighters who we will be hearing from for a long in the stacked 170-pound division.
We will also get the inside scoop on Michael Bisping during the show, who is coming off his most impressive showing inside the Octagon. He will take on Jason Day, who has been keeping us up to date here at MMAmania with his training for his showdown with "The Count" in his own backyard.
It will be nice to finally put a visual to go along with the great posts Day has made availible to us maniacs.
In addition, the always outspoken Brandon "The Truth" Vera -- coming off a loss to Tim Sylvia and a broken hand -- will be featured along with his opponent, Fabricio Werdum. Werdum is coming off an impressive victory over Gabriel Gonzaga his last time out.
Vera will take one more stab on Saturday to prove that he belongs with the big boys in the heavyweight division, while Werdum will look to build on the momentum gained in his last fight and possibly set himself up for a championship fight later in the year against the winner of new The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) coaches, Frank Mir and reigning UFC Heavyweight Champion, Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira.
Put simply, the hour-long special tonight should be a great lead up to a fabulous main card top to bottom on Saturday so be sure to tune in later on.
If you miss the debut episode, "UFC Countdown" to 85 will re-air June 5 at 2 a.m. ET and June 7 at 2 p.m. on Spike TV.

Is this event even being offered on pay per view saturday afternoon? All the commercials I see are just advertising it for 10:00 pm? I would like to watch it during the day!

This card is going to be something special, a lot of fighters with a lot to prove always leads to fireworks. UFC 84 in the best UFC card ever and IMO 85 could easilyt ake that title.
Loving the recent surge of MMA on t.v, besides that circus of an event known as EliteXC.

This is the first time in a while I can say that every fight on the telivised card is very important for the respective divisions. Every fight is a big time fight. The lack of a true main event deffinatly takes the luster off this card, but I still expect it to be very good

This is a little off subject but MANIA whats happenin wit AA!? i remember readin a post awhile back sayin he was gonna give some answers as to what his future plans are. Did the UFC ink a new deal wit’em? This just came to mind when i read the Werdum, if he wins, is likely to get the next title shot… which IMO is CRAP cuz Arlovski has a win over him.. not a pretty win but still a WIN. ANYONE HAVE ANSWERS?

I’m sorry I don’t feel the way some of the other guys on here feel about UFC 85 Bedlam card. I really doubt I’ll be tunning in. No disrespect to the MMA fans that really want to watch this PPV Event, it just feels totally lackluster.

I have to agree. Since Leben was to drunk to train and Chuck got to hurt to end Reshad’s career, I lost intrest in this card. This is one card that should be free on Spike to counter act that XC mess. I wil not be paying for this fight, but I will go to Hooters to watch Vera’s and Hughes’ fight…oh and hooters.

This card imo should be televised as a free card. Alot of ppl dont like the card, but alot of ppl forget that this was supposed to be Shogun vs Chuck before Shogun got hurt. Then it went to Chuck vs Shad, till Chuck got hurt. So dont feel bummed out because of the Hughes and Alves fight. Hughes should finish Alves with an ArmBar in the first round. Day will give Bisping a very tough test but somnehow i feel that Bisping will catch him with a knee. Pulling for Day though. Werdum will dominate Vera the entire match for a unanimos dec. Nate the great will KO Leties and Fight of the night the one im looking forward to the most is Swick vs Davis. Davis is going to own Swick for the first round and middle of the second, till a big head kick comes in that Davis doesnt see from Swick and it will be the end for Davis…

I can’t see many people buying this ppv. Its in the UK and most people on a saturday afternoon are doing other things. Also in the age of the internet most fans will get their results from mania
