Michael Bisping is 'better at everything than' Jason Day at UFC 85

bisping day

Quoteworthy:

"He'll be in good shape. He's got a good record with lots of experience. He has all of those TKOs, and I'll be keeping an eye out for his jiu-jitsu too. With that said, I really don't think that will be a problem for me. As I said before, I have got that side of my game pretty much worked out. To be honest, he seems like a great guy. I have a lot of respect for him stepping up at short notice, and there's no need to trash talk and drag this fight to the gutter. I just feel I am better at everything than he is. I'm ready for the challenge. I just hope he's training hard and comes in great shape, so we can put on an exciting fight for the fans and let the best man win on the night."

"The Count" shares his thoughts on his upcoming fight with Jason Day at UFC 85: "Bedlam" at the O2 Arena in London, England, on Saturday, June 7 at 3 p.m. ET on pay-per-view. To hear what his counterpart has to say click here. This is shaping up to be a very intriguing fight -- color me curios.

You know, I like Bisbing and all, but he just runs his mouth each fight. I don’t know if he’s self promoting or speaking his mind.

Speaking his mind. He shoots from the hip.

day will be powned. bisping should come out to south parks “blame canada” song as should everyone who faces a canadian in the future. and yes that includes gsp. dude needs a translator as much as anderson silvas translater needs a translater.

Last time Bisping fought in England, he got caught by a lazy knee from Elvis Sinosic. Albeit, it was the first UFC in England and he was the post boy for the fight. The next fight in Europe, and he nearly loses to Matt Hamil. If the pressure to fight in Europe gets to him again, Doomsday’s gonna take this one.

It is amazing that people actually believe that Bisping is this upcoming superstar, etc, etc. UFC did a hell of a job marketing him, well using him to break into the UK.

But he has fought weaker, sub 500, smaller(guys that CANT even make it in small shows as WW’s), one dimensional opponents. Sure you put a striker against a McCarthy who could’nt fight out of a wet paper bag, it may trick some into thinking that Bisping is this great striker and is so good. Anytime Bisping fought someone with any skill whatsoever he lost….Hammil and Evans. Hammil threw him around like a rag. He couldnt even do anything to an out of shape Evans.

It is just like Slice KO’ing Tank. Wow what a fighter Kimbo is. Just wait until he is tested. The real Bisping will be exposed, unless they continue to “feed” him weak opponents. I hope that Day is ready and shows the world what “marketing” can do for the image of a fighter

Keep on talking crap about Bisping, I love it. He fights who put in front of him and wins. He won TUF3 easily & no one in the house wanted to fight him when the place became available for the loser of round 1 to fight him. He will beat Day as he would have beat Leben, Nate Quarry allegedly ducked the fight when Leben got sent down. He will never when the MW Belt but he is more than a gatekeeper in the MW division.

I have said this before, UFC don’t need him to break into the UK, we only have to pay for PPV outside of the USA, we get every PPV free the night after on cable tv. TUF is free on cable so the ONLY income UFC can make from UK is when an event is hosted over here or from merchandise.

Great points. I have to get Setanta Sports though now. That’s a tad annoying.

How come before every Bisping fight people quote that he hasn’t been tested yet and in his next fight he’ll get KTFO. I didnt see either Evans or McCarthy seriously trubble him, and I rate both of them. I’m not his greates fan, I think Hammill beat him, but then again I think he beat Evans, then he destroyed McCarthy. Give the guy a break.

by UKMMA on Jun 3, 2008 4:01 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Evans is a tough guy but not, and I repeat not, a high ranked fighter. How can you rate McCarthy? People say he hasn’t been tested yet b/c he has NOT fought any worthy opponents for someone who is being promoted so far. Bisping needs to start calling out top notch opponents!

by chefdaddy on Jun 3, 2008 8:58 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Its amazing how many people don’t rate him but make a reason every fight that he will win this one! haha Bisping will get a shot at silva in 3 fights its on bisping.tv

this is gonna be a war!!! days a taugh kid, impressed with the belcher fight. still think bispings got the edge, maybe a couple fights to soon for the canadian. bispings been in there with bigger guys at 205 n looks much sharper at this weight. still aint been stopped either!!! whats with the haters? aint because he hammered all your boys in tuf is it!!!! lol

by HALE UK on Jun 3, 2008 7:46 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This will be a tough fight. Day has pretty good BJJ and he has a lot more heart and conditioning than McCarthey. I like this matchup.

by James S on Jun 3, 2008 8:07 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I agree. Should be a very entertaining one. Bisping is definitely the favourite though.

by RobH86 on Jun 3, 2008 9:28 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Gotta go with Bisping! Will be entertaining!

by braveheart on Jun 3, 2008 8:23 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This should be a good fight, but a win for Bisping will do very little for him. The top five MWs in my opinion are: 1 Spider (obviously) 2&3 Hendo & Franklin (would love to see them fight 4 Okami 5 McDonald.
There are other guys that I think could take the 5 spot, I just think he’s done the most so far in the division to deserve it at this time.

by UFCAddict on Jun 3, 2008 9:30 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Bisping will end this one early in round 2 by either TKO of KO!

It seems like you Americans have nothing but hate for British fighters on some forums but us brits just love good fighters where ever they are from!!! Come on give Bisping some credit and respect!

Can someone help me down from my high horse now please!

by GROUNDNPOUNDUK on Jun 3, 2008 9:56 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

if the ufc was using bisping as this so called poster boy for the uk why would they feed him to 2 top wrestlers? we dont train wrestling in the uk nothing like they do in the u.s

bisping tko round 1

by boyer on Jun 3, 2008 10:21 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Bisbing is a joke. he got whooped by matt hammil
and because he was in his home town, they favoured him.
its not going to happen this time. Dooms Day is going to
take his head off. TKO or submission rnd 1. this is what
they get for throwing bisbing these losers.

by Irish Hand Grenade on Jun 3, 2008 10:40 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah of course. It was the AMERICAN judges who gave Bisping the win over Matt Hammill. Oh and if your going to insult the guy spell his name right, BisPing.

by UKmmaBOY on Jun 3, 2008 11:13 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

sorry Hand Grenade, but UkmmaBOY is right. The two American judges gave it to Bisping, while the British judge gave it to Hammill.

Bisping looked great at UFC 83, but Day looked even better against better competition. Should be good

My husband and I had the great pleasure of getting to know Michael Bisbing and his georgous wife at a cafe in Montreal the day after UFC 83. Just so you all know, he is exactly like he seems. He’s a straight talker with reasonable goals and rational opinions. He is not nearly as pompass as the press/fans sometimes make him out to be. I do believe he has both the brains and the braun to out fight anybody in his weight class. Yes, anybody.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, fellow fight fans.

well said heather im a good friend of his too and totlly agree with you

by boyer on Jun 3, 2008 4:15 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

He’s fought everyone who’s put in front of him, no questions. He’s a middle weight who performed dam well against some notable LHWs. He’s a serious factor at MW. You think his attitude is hard to swallow, take a look from the outside in. Some of your American fighters, even champions like Hughes, Franklin and BJ are some of the biggest stains in the sport. Bisping is a pretty easy going bloke and compared to the three loud mouth Yanks above is a breath of fresh air. By the way, i’m not from Canada or The UK. Some of you guys need to get your heads out of your ass….
