c’mon pulver! down with butt chin!

by Fidel Cashflow on May 27, 2008 8:57 PM EDT reply actions

i hope jens wins WEC needs another champ

by jow32 on May 27, 2008 9:15 PM EDT reply actions

“Butt chin” called it at the end…Nice!

by Rumbler on May 27, 2008 9:25 PM EDT reply actions

Jens has no shot in the world in winning this fight. He gets a win against a c-class fighter, and all of a sudden Jens is 20ys old again!!! What would BJ or Florian do to Cub? Wasn’t that his name? I could be wrong.

by Robert on May 27, 2008 9:30 PM EDT reply actions

jens submitted him in like 30 seconds…. how could bj or kenny made it any worse? So whats your point?

by mike22 on May 27, 2008 10:37 PM EDT up reply actions

The fight was quick… good point thanks, but Jens got destroyed by Gomi, Penn and Joe,in the last 2yrs, not that those names are anything to be ashamed of but they weren’t even competitive. MMMA fans should be smater than that and not be taken in by over blown hype. Like the Ken vs Tito thing….Ken didn’t have a chance against Tito and yet they made 3 big fight out of it. Same thing here not even going to be close! I like Jens, but he can’t stand with the best anymore but I would love to be proven wrong!

by Robert on May 28, 2008 8:52 AM EDT up reply actions

Also being undefeated at 145 and being one of the biggest names in the sport probably has something to do with it.

by Adam on May 28, 2008 8:05 AM EDT up reply actions

Actually the guys name is cub swanson, and up until the point when Jens choked him out he was considered a top contender at 145. He actually has more fights then jens in that weight class, and is definitely no c-class fighter. Also, BJ and Florian would have to cut off a leg to get to 145 lbs. You’re comparing apples to oranges.

by BadVibes on May 28, 2008 12:28 PM EDT up reply actions

I really hope it goes the distance or close to the distance. Hoping it turns out to be a fight of the year candidate.

by the_mexicutioner on May 27, 2008 9:31 PM EDT reply actions

butt chin hahahaha how can pulver miss that? LOL

by XxXFactor on May 27, 2008 9:43 PM EDT reply actions

I live in Canada, is there another network showing this?

I know TSN aired a WEC card in the past, but I havent heard anything about this event.

Thanks in advance

by ro-J on May 27, 2008 9:48 PM EDT reply actions

I would also like to know the answer to this question, I’ve searched online but can’t find any answers.

by Reether on May 27, 2008 10:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Hey guys, looks like TSN will be airing the card on the alternate feed – here’s the link http://www.tsn.ca/feature/?fid=11103

From 7-8pm they will be having a pre fight show on the regular scheduling and then it will switch over to the TSN alternate channel…this is great news for Canadians…

by Seamus on May 28, 2008 8:24 AM EDT up reply actions

this is great news!

Thanks for the heads up Seamus….much appreciated!

What about the Fight Network?

by Toms Bombs on May 28, 2008 1:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Can’t see Jens winning but of course I may be wrong. Here’s hoping for an exciting fight.

by RobH86 on May 27, 2008 9:51 PM EDT reply actions

Sorry fellas but I’m gonna have to go Urijah “Buttchin” Faber. This guy is unreal. Every time sum 1 has him cornered he finds a way out.
I say faber wins by vicious ground and pound in the 3rd.

WAAAAAAAAR!!!!!!!! Buttchin……………..lol

by Homeslice on May 27, 2008 9:51 PM EDT reply actions

I think the outcome of this fight is largely on the shoulders of Faber. If he comes out explosively with a few takedowns, and some aggression on the ground, Pulver won’t have much energy to work with when it gets back to the feet.

But at the same time, if he stands and tries to trade with Jens I think it’s going to be a long night for Uri.

by KneeToTheFace on May 27, 2008 9:51 PM EDT reply actions

Jens is rededicated and tough as nails, but no way will he be able to beat Urijah.. unless he connects full force with the left

by THORAZINE on May 27, 2008 10:08 PM EDT reply actions

thanks mania, these vids got me even more pumped for this fight. i dont see it as a blowout at all. jens will give him hell but it wont be enough. a part of me wants the old guy (jens) to win but faber’s star is shining to bright. i like faber by 4rth rnd sub.

Word!

by ( (Adam G) ) on May 27, 2008 10:44 PM EDT up reply actions

I just don’t see Jens winning this fight, Urijah is at the top of his game and the fact he was training with BJ means a lot.

by Haze on May 27, 2008 10:32 PM EDT reply actions

WZZZZZZZORD!!

by ( (Adam G) ) on May 27, 2008 10:45 PM EDT up reply actions

LOL, I thought I’d get a reply from a true Penn fan! Did you ever pick up that ROTR box set?

by Haze on May 27, 2008 11:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Yea, and an awesome deal man thanks!!! My collection is fat and the ROTR set is crucial!! A lot of great bouts i never new took place. Everyne should own it, the Penn/Gomi fight is worth the money alone everyhting else is a bonus ya know. I sold my dad those two ROTRs with the Pen fights and he was like “whats the catch? Why are you basically giving these to me??” when i came back with the set and some extra bong rips he was stoked to watch it with me and wait out the last few hours til Sherks mouth full of Penns knee. The Sherk/Penn fight is almost a classic Penn bout . . . I never saw him stand like that and stait up trade punches for 15 minutes. No other fight of his is reall like that, a one of a kind with a one of a kind ending. BUT sherk gained me as a fan IF-(if he stands more often with that tasty standup he has and stops humping guys all over the octagon)-THEN he has me as a fan. AND for the recoed i dont think he (knowingly) took steroids, he looked pretty much the same to me ya know. Only thing new was his standup and if it gets you to round 3 (almost 4) with the best in the world then its not too bad. Well done Sean.

by ( (Adam G) ) on May 27, 2008 11:49 PM EDT up reply actions

props….nice statement. I wanted to say Sherk looked just as good cardio wise to me as if he had been on roids…but I’m not sure roids increase cardio…? i don’t know…But was Sherks strength the same? We’ve all seen how he can RAM his way through people for the takedown, he didn’t seem to have the same explosiveness on the one or two occaisoins he tried against BJ. But then he wasn’t really going for it, there were just a couple of “opportunist” takedwn moments that he didn’t take…But yeh, I hope to see more of that boxing from Sherk in the Future!!

by ToeLock on May 28, 2008 7:00 AM EDT up reply actions

GORD! I have 2 choices . . . First; Its simple, its classic, and its not too degrating. You will become a typing/posting advertisment for BJ Penn by changing your name to: “GoToBJPENN.COM”
OR to be a dick i might go with “G.S.P-is-G.A.Y” We’ll see if GSP does anymore wierdo photo shoots to decide on this LMAO! Ill let you know when ive chosen the final name = )

by ( (Adam G) ) on May 27, 2008 11:01 PM EDT reply actions

For GAY photo shoots…..take a look back at some of Diego Sanchez pics that have been posted here! (Not that you want to see gay imagery) But that guy looks so gay all oiled up with his greasy hair look, it’s quite funny because you know he is always trying to look hard, but just comes off looking like a mexican popstar or something…lol

by ToeLock on May 28, 2008 7:02 AM EDT up reply actions

Some guys are just man-pretty, and there’s nothing they can do about it. Sanchez, Huerta, Faber and probably a few others just that look like they want to be part of Zoolander Florian’s entourage.

by PW on May 28, 2008 10:00 AM EDT up reply actions

Where was Pulver training? At one point it looked like he was in his parents’ garage… in the background, there’s a bulletin board, old tools, a key rack with I’m sure keys to cars they haven’t owned in two decades… surprised we didn’t see his Dad watching TV without a shirt on…

by Duke on May 27, 2008 11:24 PM EDT reply actions

Funny stuff man thanks…

by Robert on May 28, 2008 8:56 AM EDT up reply actions

Its a boxing training center in Illinois called “The Garage”. I watched the fight preview the other night on VS and I can’t remember the boxing coaches name, but that’s where he trains his fighters, only two or three at a time. More one on one time. If you’re hitting a bag and getting coached, why would it matter if you’re in a multi-million dollar gym or a backyard. And if you knew Jens’ story at all you’d know that his dad is no where in the picture.

by Big Jake on May 28, 2008 11:42 AM EDT up reply actions

i’m pulling for Jens but Faber is a bonafide bad-ass but i hope he gets is as whooped ralph macheo style- Pulver by standing crane kick to that ass on fabers face.

by Hitman Bert on May 28, 2008 12:35 AM EDT reply actions

I am a bit surprised that Pulver didn’t at least take the wad of tobacco out of his mouth for the camera. haha

by naturalshadow on May 28, 2008 12:52 AM EDT reply actions

I’m surprised he refrained himself from spitting all over the camera.

by dave on May 28, 2008 3:09 AM EDT up reply actions

I like this sorta promo videos. No retarded narrator voice telling us it will be "THE EVENT OF THE YEAR, NEVER SEEN BEFORE FAST-PACED-ACTION, ".

Instead you got the two guys fighting talking about their preparation and respectfully about their opponent. Wish more promotional videos were like that.

by YouTapped on May 28, 2008 3:15 AM EDT reply actions

Even casual fans know that Faber and Pulver are two of the best at 145 and what to expect from this fight, so there is no need for Dramatic Voice Guy. When your main event fight is, say, Rashad-Bisping then it needs DVG to sell it a little more.

by PW on May 28, 2008 10:10 AM EDT up reply actions

Agreed! They are two guys that just love to fight, they don’t need to be angry or hate each other to go in there and throw down. I wish all the sh*t talkers in the other organizations would take a look at what these two are saying and doing on camera and follow suit. I’m tired of this “I hate him ’cuz he did this.” And “I hate him ’cuz he did that”. Its getting to be a lot like the WWE!

by Big Jake on May 28, 2008 11:45 AM EDT up reply actions

LOL….JENS: My biggest motivation is not looking like an A** in the cage…..fair play man, always do it for yourself!!!

by ToeLock on May 28, 2008 7:03 AM EDT reply actions

does anyone know (MANIA??) if this event is going to be streamed on the internet or anything like that?

by ToeLock on May 28, 2008 7:04 AM EDT reply actions

My prediction for this fight….Frank Mir taking off his broadcasting headset, running up to the side of the cage and yelling, “Urijah, I love you.” Mir seriously has a man-crush on Faber.

I am hoping Jens shows he isn’t over the hill and takes it via big left hand. I can almost hear Mir if that happens. “Oh no!”

by PJJ on May 28, 2008 11:51 AM EDT reply actions

Hate to spoil your hopes here folks, but there is no way Pulver is going to beat Faber aside from a lucky punch, which I doubt is going to happen.

It’s going to go to the ground eventually, and Faber is going to mount him and GNP or choke him out.

by Jason on May 28, 2008 12:03 PM EDT reply actions

Jason will you still have a man crush on Faber when he get’s KTFO’d?

by BadVibes on May 28, 2008 12:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Please oh Please Jens knock this loser wanna-be burnout surfer boy out and show the world that he is a LOSER!

by DaGrizzlyBear on May 28, 2008 12:54 PM EDT reply actions

Really, who cares about these 2, They both suck and Faber has never fought anyone good. If there has to be a winner I hope its Jens, cause Faber is a closet homo,

by illestone on May 28, 2008 1:16 PM EDT reply actions

he got knocked out by tyson griffin.. so he has fought somebody good.. i say faber just outlasts him and it goes 5 rounds urijah winning the final 4 but starting off slow, he’s not gonna be stupid and stand with jens although he has underrated stand up he knows to watch the lefthand and take jens down, and noone has ever submitted him.. give the man some credit he’s not a complete moron jens is a good wrestler though should be decent fight if jens can keep up and no get gassed since we all know urijah can go forever
