CBS Elite XC results for 'Saturday Night Fights' on May 31

Elite XC is finally set to make history, staging the first-ever LIVE mixed martial arts event on network television tonight (May 31) on CBS at 9 p.m. ET.
The "Primetime" special on "Saturday Night Fights" will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
MMAmania.com is on the scene and will provide blow-by-blow, minute-by-minute, round-by-round coverage of the main card action below. In addition, we will provide up-to-the-minute quick results of the prelim bouts.
Remember, CBSSports.com will stream the undercard fights online, beginning at 7 p.m. and running right up until showtime at 9 p.m. ET.

Kimbo Slice vs. James "The Colossus" Thompson: Kimbo Slice via (T)KO in the 3rd round
Elite XC Middleweight Champion "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler vs. Scott "Hands of Steel" Smith: No contest due to inadvertant thumb to the eye at 3:26 of round 3
Joey Villasenor vs. Phil "The New York Badass" Baroni: Villasenor via (T)KO at 1:11 of the first round
Gina "Conviction" Carano vs. Kaitlin Young: Carano (T)KO in the 2nd round due to doctor not allowing Young to answer the bell for the third round
Brett "The Grim Rogers vs. Jon Murphy: Rogers via KO in the first round
Carlos Moreno vs. Carlton Haselrig: Haselrig (T)KO first round (Moreno could not answer the bell for the second round)
Chris Liguori vs. Jim Bova: Liguori via (T)KO at 4:31 of the second round due to a doctor stoppage (cuts)
Nick Serra vs. Matt Makowski: Makowski via (T)KO in the second round (Serra was awake but too tired to get up even after repeated warnings from the ref)
Wilson Reis vs. Justin Robbins: Ries via rear naked choke at 4:06 of round one (Remember that name, this guy is an animal)
James "Binky" Jones vs. Calvin Kattar: Binky Jones via rear naked choke at 4:49 of round one
Zach Makovsky vs. Andre Soares: Makovsky via unanimous decision
Mike Groves vs. Joe Sampieri: Sampieri (T)KO via ground and pound at 4:58 of the first round
ELITE XC: "PRIMETIME" LIVE BLOW-BY-BLOW COMMENTARY:
James prefight here: Its getting close to fight time maniacs. We'll be here all night with the blow by blow coverage. Get ready for a great night of fights. Lets get this party started.
Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson vs. James "The Colossus" Thompson (265-pound limit)
Round one: Thomspon grabs a leg and Kimbo throws him off. Kimbo throws some shots, but Thompson holds onto the leg and eventually gets the takedown. He's on top now and working the punches. Kimbo tries to stand up and Thompson stays on him. Side control now for Thompson. Kimbo works out and they're on their feet. Thompson stays clinched though. Thompson will not let go of Kimbo. Kimbo is working the knees to Thompson's legs trying to free himself up. Kimbo finally pushes out. Jab from Thompson. Kimbo trips and Thompson chases. Kimbo now with the takedown and he's on top. Kimbo looking for the choke, thompson tries to stand up and falls right into side control. He traps Kimbo's arm and he's working the punches again. Kimbo is in a bad position, but sweeps and gets into thompson's half guard, now in full guard. Kimbo lands a left from the top position just as the bell rings. Wow! Nice round for Thompson. He did what he had to and probably won a close round.
Round two: Kimbo with a body punch then a big right hand. Thompson shoots and Kimbo sprawls. Knee from Kimbo. Back to the clinch. Thompson with a Thai clinch and a big knee to Kimbo's head. Thompson gets the takedown again. Kimbo looks for the guillotine, but Thompson has side control. He's wroking the punches from there. Ref stands them up. Kimbo with a nice combo. He works the jab and eats one. big shots from Kimbo, Thompson's in trouble. But Thompson somehow gets another takedown. Both guys are tired. Thompson is back in side control, and working from there. Kimbo isn't doing anything, he looks dog tired. Elbow after elbow from Thompson. Kimbo is in trouble. Saved by the bell! Another close round, but I think you have to give it to Thompson. He's executing his gameplan way better. Kimbo looks gassed going back to his corner.
Round three: Kimbo lands a combo and Thompson's ear is spewing blood. Kimbo has him in deep trouble and the ref steps in. Kimbo falls down in exhaustion. That was a little premature if you ask me. Wow! I think Kimbo could have finished him, but Thompson was not out. Another contraversial stoppage. What a weird night.
Final result:: Kimbo Slice via (T)KO in the 3rd round.

"Ruthless" Robbie Lawler vs. Scott "Hands of Steel" Smith (185-pound limit)
Round one: Smith throw a head kick, Lalwer blocks. Lawler with a high kick attempt and Smith blocks. Lots of feeling each other out. Lawler with a nice leg kick uppercut combo. Smith with a leg kick of his own. Smith is really looking for the kicks. Big time exchange, hard to tell who got the better of it. Lawler is still working and pushing the pace though. He's got Smith back peddaling. Lawler wroks the jab and then lands a nice overhand right. More jabs from Lawler. Body kick from Lawler. Big right from Lawler and Smith looks stunned. Lawler is being careful not to pull a Pete Sell, but he's still pushing the pace. Smith is in trouble. He gets saved by the bell and stumbles back to his corner. Definitely Lawler's round. I'm not sure how much more Smith can take.
Round two: Both fighters exchange leg kicks. Lawler with a nice one two. Big body kick from Lawler. More kicks from Smith, but not much behind them. Smith lands a nice left hook. Lawler is doing a good job of mixing up his combos. Thai clinch from Smith and he lands a knee and then some huge punches. Lawler is stunned, but he fights back and lands some uppercuts. Lots of action. Lawler pushes Smith against the cage now and works the body. Another uppercut from Smith. Lawler keeps working, but both guys look tired now. Smith works the jab and Lawler just keeps coming. There's blood. Both guys look cut. Lots of action against the cage. Elbows and punches from Smith and the bell rings. Smith doesn't stumble back to his corner this time. That was his round. Great fight so far!
Round three: Leg kick from Smith. Then a jab. Lawler works the jab now. Jab from Smith. Lawler swings and misses with a big uppercut, but follows with 3 or 4 jabs. Big right hand from Scott Smith. But Lawler keeps coming. He's a machine. More jabs from Lawler. Lawler shoots and Smith sprawls. Lawler inadvertantly thumbs Smith's eye and the action stops momentarily.
The ringside doctor won't let Smith continue. What a huge disappointment. This was turning out to be a great fight.
We will see a rematch for sure. What a HUGE disappointment. Cheers to both fighters for showing a ton of heart.
Final result:: No contest due to doctor stoppage at 3:26 of the third round after an inadvertant thumb to the eye

Gina "Conviction" Carano vs. Kaitlin Young (140-pound limit)
Round one: Gina tries a kick and eats a punch. Gina gets the takedown. Young stands right back up. Another kick from Gina followed by a right hand. Gina eats a big right. Young is working the kicks. Young with a takedown from the clinch. Gina is just holding on in guard. Young stands up and lands a punch then a kick. Gina stans up and they go at it. Gina is making Young pay with big right hands every time she throws a kick. The round ends. Decent action, close round.
Round two: Jab from Young follwed by an overhand right from Gina. Gina now working the kicks. Young fires back with some of her own. Young looks tired. Gina moves in for the kill and Young clinches. Knees from Young. Another big jab from Gina and Young clinches again. Gina is winning most of the exchanges now. Young is in trouble...Gina with a big straight kick that floors Young. Gina jumps on her back and looks for the choke. She can't sink it in in time and Young is saved by the bell. Great action. Gina won that round for sure.
The fight is over! Kaitlin Young's face is a mess and the cageside doctor advises the ref to stop the fight. Best fight of the night so far. Big win for Gina Carano!
Final result:: Gina Carano via (T)KO 2nd round

Joey Villasenor vs. Phil "The New York Badass" Baroni (185-pound limit)
Round one: Head kick attempt from Joey and Baroni catches and takes him down. He lands a few shots on Joey while he's on his back then lets him back up. Both fighters exchange blows and Baroni shoots for another takedown, Joey sprawls and tries a guillotine. Baroni tries to get out by standing up and Villasenor makes him pay with a number of shots to the dome. The ref has to step in and thats it for Baroni.
Final result:: Joey Villasenor via (T)KO at 1:11 of the first round

Brett "The Grim Rogers vs. Jon Murphy (265-pound limit)
Round one: Leg kick from Murphy. Rogers misses a return leg kick. Uppercut from Rogers. Into the clinch. Murphy pushes Rogers against the fence. Rogers pushes out and swings and misses with a left, but follws with a HUGE right. Murphy goes down and thats it. The ref intervenes and Brett Rogers has another first round knockout.
Final result:: Brett Rogers via first round KO.

Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith are both amount as marketable as Yoshida and Jardine.
Seriously, that Yoshida interview after beating War Machine was one of the worst. The dude just stands there cheesing it up for the camera. LOL

It wasn’t all Yoshida’s fault. His translator was a total idiot. He wasn’t translating anything Rogan was saying. Granted when he did, Yoshi just said one or two words. I think they could have pumped up Lawler v Smith a little more, but Kimbo is their big money horse right now. Until he gets beat they are gonna ride him to the bank in a big way.

You know what Mike, I couldn’t agree more. I’ve always enjoyed watching the elite shows, but this amounts to guys who couldn’t make it in the UFC fighting for titles, and a guy who couldn’t beat anyone in the top 50 headlining!

Its the mma equivalent of a carnival that sets up in the parking lot of a mall.
Mostly just lies and scams and falling apart old rides and only sorta fun if you get drunk.

ufc just builds up their fights better and most dont live up to the hype
ANd notice how the ufc has been over about the last 5 years showing less fights and more hype that we have lareday seen and increased their price thats buull
notice too how the ufc has black listed press to certain dummies…
notice how scott smith a previous ufc fighter said during this elite xc’x press confrence that eletie takes care of their fighters , unlike tha ufc who would not fit the bill for jardine even paying him a measly 10,000 to fight silva and chuck the ufc will take notice,and then there is affliction the more choices the better but most of you dumb dumb say dana built mmano he builds or trys to build the UFC and bought pride to kill it that is no sense or PRIDE

and great KO’s like Houston vs Jardine and Sliva vs Jardine
all good fights and KO’s in the past 2yrs but it’s not the UFC’s fault when fights like Sliva vs Henderson don’t live up to the hype, it’s the style that makes a fight.

WELL WELL WELL I am the first to say man i realy dont like dana white but after tonights bs i realy respect the heck out of him for what hes done. These guys wanna beat the UFC but they have slopy fights filled with laughs to me. I like watching Lawler from back in the day and still do but that Kimbo fight was a joke. They shoulda called it after he couldnt get up after the second. Its a clear sign they are puttin all there eggs in Kimbos basket. After that fight thats a huge mistake! Thompsons just like sean gannon and proved Kimbos a sloppy joke of a fighter with a punchers chance!!! Go UFC kill this trash of elite xc

Couldn’t agree more. Kimbo wasn’t intelligently defending himself for a good while at the end of round two. It should have been stopped there. He landed a couple good shots that dazed Thompson in round three but he didn’t finish him. They stopped it and handed it to KS, which is BS. Also, the Lawler stoppage was crap as well. I think Lawler would have taken him by the end but that little poke in the eye only had a moments impact. He was ready to go within 60 seconds and telling the ref so. Unless his retina was detached (which I never heard mentioned) I call BS on the DR stoppage. The best fight was the ladies. Thank god for them. Other than their bout..this whole show sucked hind end and did nothing for the sport. Thanks XC!!!!!!!! The sport finally gets a huge show case and these butt puppets screw it up!!!

Kimbo Slice is not a real fighter. He would get destroyed by any real boxer or any real mma fighter. Elite XC has set up a good matchup for him, though, as James Thompson is pretty much the same fighter. This fight will be just two fatsos in a tough man competition.

Kimbo would most likely lose to any decent heavyweight fighter, Jeff Monson would probably dominate him. I will watch, but I am far more excited about Faber v. Pulver. Cung Lee is the best fighter in EliteXC but he doesn’t have depth as a fighter but his standup is top-notch. But that said, EliteXC does seem to treat it’s fighters better.

I’m TRYING to like it. But it is just produced so poorly. We have uncoordinated dancing girls (strippers w/ a night off from the club?), a fight where both heavyweights could drop to lightweight if they knew what a sit-up was, that idiot Baroni. He was a side-show and I could go on about that for hours. Then they interview Young and start with the camera on her breasts. Most of us don’t want to hate this. But it’s MMA’s first time on national/network t.v., and if this production sucks it affects the sport we all love to watch. I hope it gets better.

Man, now I know why the UFC insists on maintaining control over all aspects of production (referring to the failed HBO negotiations). This show is just flat out terrible not to mention cheesy and no class. I’m typing this as the Lawler-Smith fight is about to start and so far it’s been a weak card as well. Here’s hoping the two remaining fights are at least as strong as the Carano-Young fight.
As much as I complain about Dana White and the UFC sometimes, they really got it together by comparison.

He was getting pounded out in the 2nd round and the ref was threatening to stand them back up! it was clearly fixed, and that is a shame b/c elite xc had a chance to show there was other mma other than the ufc…they blew it in my book. what should have been a great victory for mma, turned out to be a pretty pathetic day instead. I am truly disappointed and I hope everyone that respects mma bitches about that sad excuse for a fight. I like kimbo, but if you lose you lose, he’ll never get better if they don’t let him learn the hard way. Ah well, back to my dvd of the wire.

Kimbo is overrated. It just proves what everyone has said all along. Kimbo is a Street Fighter, not ready for MMA. He got tossed a chump MMA fighter, who still managed to gas out Kimbo. They stopped it early, and if Kimbo had fought even a semi good MMA heavyweight he would have been submitted.
He wins the fight on TKO and then just collapses? What a chump.
Kimbo might be good one day, but let him earn it before they trump him as the greatest badass of all time.

I will never watch Elite XC again after that BS event. The first two fights were crap. The way the Smith/Lawler fight ended sucked. Kimbo’s fight was obviously fixed. Thomson should have won in the 2nd when Kimbo wasn’t doing anything on the gorund for a minute. The referee should be ashamed of himself and so should Gary Shaw. Any legitimate Heavyweight would destroy Kimbo who’s cardio is the worst I have ever seen.

Fight cards and organizations like this on national television is exactly what boxing loyalists want, because it makes us MMA fans and fighters look like idiots. This card, with the exception of the the two rounds of Lawler/Smith was a complete joke. I’m ashamed to have watched it and at least i’ll feel better tomorrow night after the WEC fight card and Urijah vs. Lil Evil. I’m sickened that the casual fan is gonna think that this night is what MMA is all about

I wouldn’t call Thompson’s jaw glass. Yah, he was getting finished but he took a lot of good straight shots without going down and out.
Bullshit stoppage. 40 unanswered elbows to Kimbo’s head = no stoppage. A non-Kimbo fighter starts to wobble = stoppage. I doubt I’ll bother to turn EliteXC on next time.

Never seen a fighter get his arm trapped 3 times and get repeated blows to the head for over 30 seconds before this event.
EliteXC is a joke, and Kimbo Slice is being paraded around like Ivan Dragon in Soviet Russia.

I had Thompson on both round 1 and 2. He should have just taken down Kimbo. Thompson’s Cardio was pretty awful as well but Thompson was underestimated by alot of people. He need to use his knees more.
Short quick fights and that no contest made this a bad intro to MMA for the masses. Gina and Kaitlin’s fight was the most exciting. Lawler and Sharp was a good fight.

this was as bad as it gets. what ajoke. the ufc has nothing to worry about w/elite xc. why didnt thompson ever go for the full mount, he could have gotten it several times easy. kimbo was losing this fight and was lucky the ref stopped it. what state athletic com. would let thompson fight with his ear like that. i know fighters get cauliflower ear, but it usually hardens over time. thompson’s looked as ripe as a tomato. gary shaw is a sleazeball who likes the smell of his own farts and probably preserves them in mason jars to sniff at later times. i love free mma but i hope this show tanks in the ratings and elite xc folds soon. then the ufc can get shields and thats about it. luckily we have a REAL mma show tomorrow with the wec. i shoulda watched chucks show and his match with wandi again. lucky for me i dvrd it. whew!

Name them then, because this was awful. You’ve got a doctor stoppage for a TITLE fight. Smith, regardless of what he said about not being able to see at the time SHOULD have been given a full five minutes. Then you’ve got your headliner who is getting pounded with unanswered elbows, yet it still continues. Then he punches a guy in the ear and makes it bleed and they stop the fight. Last I checked, it’s hard impair your vision with blood running from a busted up ear. Don’t make excuses for this lame ass WWE replica.

There is NOTHING the fighters could have done tonight short of guys heads flying off and dying in the ring to make you guys happy, you were all ready to pounce so it doesnt really matter. This event was good for MMA in my opinion there were plently of UFC fights I’ve fallen asleep on. It didnt set the sport back at all but having a guy like Dana White who cant give a interview without saying “fVCK” or “FVCKIN” sets it back, no wonder serious sports outlets dont respect it, go check ESPN.com or CNNSI, or FOXSPORTS after a major UFC match its never in the top stories, you have to dig to find anyhthing other than boxing, so how much further back can it go?

Please somebody tell me that Two and a Half Men cut into your Kimbo Slice/James Thompson fight for like 45 seconds.
I am sorry, as much as I enjoy Elite XC fights, this show theater shit has to stop. Im sorry but when it takes 3 hours and 45 minutes for 5 fights there is something extremely wrong with that considering, the 1st two fights ended within the 1st two minutes. Phil Baroni’s entrance was one of the biggest slaps in the face of MMA. Seriously, is that what people think of MMA is that a girl can rip off a douche bags shirt and put the sizzler to her ass, hot yes, but not for MMA.
Doctor stoppage, kinda lame, but if he cant see, he can’t see. Fighter safety first.
Kimbo Slice man, you know I am a huge kimbo fan, I respect him, but man Bas needs to help him work on actually finishing a fight in the later rounds, ground work, cardio, take down defense… ect. Kimbo should still be fighting in am fights in all honesty.
But some good news comes out of that night, Roy Nelson (IFL HEAVYEWEIGHT CHAMPION) was being talked about as Kimbo’s next opponent if Kimbo were to win against James THompson. Will Gary Shaw do this fight still? Roy Nelson wants him terribly, but with the huge holes of Kimbo Slice tonight, could Kimbo even stand and trade with Roy Nelson for 3 minutes?
Gina Carrano, don’t care much about anymore, she has lost my respect for so called being “the face of female mma” but yet she fails to makes weight, and when Gus Johnson says is this the hardest opponent you have ever trained or fought and she goes not really. Slap in the face.
Kimbo learn a lot more things before your next fight.

Thompson didn’t fight his normal fight. he went for the take down. If he came out swinging he would have got KOed in about 30 seconds. Everyone stops Thompson if he stands with them

Not only did Elite XC kept digging themselves into a hole… i lost respect for some of the sportscasters. Mauro actually said Lawler was at the same level as Anderson Silva… come on!!! The only reason fighters are on Elite is for the money or that they can’t make it in the UFC. I still would watch the show knowing that the’re all UFC rejects, just stop kidding yourself.
Bad stoppages happen all the time. Giving a ‘star’ fighter an easy fight happens. Headlining with 2 weak fighters doesn’t happen anywhere but on Elite xc. I can’t way to see kimbo actually wanting to fight a good opponent (why would he the way he’s getting paid?)

Okay, many of us in here have said that we would welcome healthy comptition for the UFC. Well, this aint it! At best, this did damage to the credibility of authentic MMA.
Props to Lawler and Smith for coming out hard, but the whole night was like a cheap carnival ride, you kinda look past the rusted metal and drunken ride operators cause there’s nothing else to do, then kick yourself with regret while throwing up in your girlfiends lap. Way too long, and please spare me all the cheezy entrances.
Any novice UFC fan, knows that a UFC ref would most likely have stopped that fight when Kimbo could not defend himself from the elbows. This Sucks…HUGE. All my family that thinks I’m barbaric for watching this stuff, is now even more convinced tht it’s just another WWE. Thanks for nothing Gary Shaw.

Gina won that fight. Young couldn’t answer the bell. The Doc asked her and she said no. Gina didn’t finish when she had the chance, she should have had the KO or TKO.
In round 2, Kimbo on his back getting hit in the head (although they didn’t look that bad, not a lot of power or damage going on) Kimbo didn’t try to move or change position at all. He had room and his hips were free, he could have been working, but he didn’t. I guess he was gassed.

It should get better with Jade Shields, Nick Diaz and some more talent. Maybe then can bring some guys over from Dream as have and an agreement. Maybe Eddie Alverez, Hellboy Hansen an some top notch Japanese talent.
But this show was pretty sh!tty especially when you title fight is a NC. The ratings determine the future. Remember ratings are king.

Japanese fighters are hard to market to the general public. That would help the true MMA fan but I don’t think it would help the ratings with the masses. You have to bring in fighters who have fought in the states already and have a story to sell, But just my opinion.

Cauliflower McGee was out on his feet and the fight was stopped a little early, but I don’t think it’s overly controversial. The biggest BS was that the fight wasn’t stopped at the end of round 2. Even though Cauliflower’s shots weren’t hard shots, that was WAY too many in a row with no defence from kimbo. And the ref was threatening to stand them up?!? that was pathetic.
Despite Bas’ best efforts, kimbo has no ground game and mr. nobody proved it.
What was more pathetic: the sloppy gogoplata attempt by carano that made the Undertaker look like a BJJ black belt or the fact that the announcer didn’t realize that she was attempting a submission?
Basically that whole show was garbage. Terrible production values and obviously a lot of money was passed around in brown paper bags prior to the event.

Gary Shaw, you rigged boxing, now you want to rig MMA. Go back to boxing. Kimbo fight should have been stopped at the end of the second round when he failed to intelligently defend himself. Same goes for Carano nothing was wrong with Caitlin!!!!

Ref stands them up with kimbo is in side control? Doesn’t stop it when Kimbo takes about 30 unanswered (albeit weak) elbows to the head (intelligent defense anyone?)? Stops a main event while one competitor is still standing, and minutes ago recovered from worse?
Despite all that, both looked like complete nonathletic slobs. Bad representation for MMA. Dana was right about BJ owning Kimbo. JT had some of the worst top control I’ve ever seen and still got reversed. I’m rambling now.. so many things wrong with that fight.

read the comments on youtube… one guy said it was the best fight he had ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow! that was terrible, i hope that ref never refs in the UFc again after that garbage performance. he sttod them up when thompson had kimbo in side control? wtf! you can hear him saying “improve your position”. thats what you say when someone is sitting in guard, not side control. the only way to improve is to go to mount and some guys prefer side control cause it is more difficult to get swept forom side control. also, he had kimbo in crucifix position just like penn-hughes 2, and they stopped that fight for a title! thompson wins by rd.2 tko!

It doesn’t take s rocket scientist to know that the suspicion of fixed fights is the death nell of EliteXC. The head person at CBS was mad when he found out that this show was going to be on. After tonight, there is no chance that CBS will pick up the remainin 3 tentatively scheduled shows. It saddens me to see a sport that I have a lot of respect for being betrayed by Shaw and CBS. The Fertitta’s must be laughing their asses off. At least all the hype about Kimbo is over.

Thompson just stood there at the start of the 3rd and waited for Kimbo to come to him. It almost looked like he was just waiting to get knocked out.
Having said that, Kimbo was not defending himself when Thompson had him pinned down at the end of the 2nd and giving him punches and elbows (even though they did not look like they had much behind them)
Thompson blown up dumbo ear looked awful. It was just a matter of time before it popped. That thing was flapping pretty bad.
On another side note, I think Gary Shaw needs to drop his track suit and put on a suit. Who will take him serious after presenting himself like that and with such a WWE style show. If this would have been a pay-per-view, I would have been pissed off as soon as the show started.
Tomorrow’s WEC show, will put this one to shame.

a stoppage because of a busted ear? thats a new one to me… a fight is only supposed to be stopped due to a cut if it impares the vision of the fighter. watch edwin dewees from TUF 4 or penn-stevenson at UFC 80. way more blood in those fights than this one and those went on. terrible terrible terrible. dana white was right: elite xc is the AAA to the UFC major leagues

I am a long time fan of MMA but the CBS fights tonight were the worse I’ve ever seen as far as production goes, not necessarily the fights… this goes for commentators, refs, and doctors. The whole thing was pure garbage from the cuts from commercials to come back to dancers to go back to commercials taking like 10-15 mins for nothing. To the commentators not knowing what they were talking about half the time, saying things like “this is whats going to happen in this fight” before the rounds even started, or “wow this guy is in trouble” from hits that do nothing to the top veteran fighters. Both stoppages(the Smith fight and Kimbo fight) were just plan stupid. Smith got pocked in the eye and wasn’t given 1 minute to recover let alone the 5 minutes he should of been allotted, and the Kimbo fight got called when Thompson was still on his feet and fighting why? Because his ear started to bleed? Let alone the fact that their “main event” was the Kimbo vs. Thompson fight not the Lawler vs. Smith title fight. Why? Because Kimbo was/is a youtube street fighter?? Which to this point the announcers seem to say that these fighter were here for the money not to sport. I watched 3 hours of this crap and got 30 minutes worth out of it. The fighters put on a great show… the Gina vs. Kaitlin fight was a hell of a battle as well as the Lawler vs, Smith battle (till the doctors stoppage…) But in the long and short of it… I’ll not be watching this Elite XC garbage again… I’ll catch the 5 mins of highlights on the internet…

That was a great main event fight, you sissies just hate anything not UFC, 99% of viewers arent as high brow bitches like they are here, they just want to see a good fight, and they did the sports bar I was at was PACKED TO CAPACITY and everybody was going nuts, cheering and yelling and had a blast during the Kimbo fight, but you guys were in moms basement judging Kimbos hip placement, and ground technique, how he should have hipped out etc.etc.etc., the average guy with a life doesnt just wants action.

I totally agree with you Kam. I was at the Prudential Center, and I thought that the matches were great. It did stink that they stopped the fight, but Thompson was a punch or two away from being knocked out!
