This card needs to be free!
The Davis v. Swick fight might be good, but it is not worth the cash! Dana needs to pay for this one, put it on Spike!!!!

Im going to watch the cholo fight behind Super Mercado & Carniceria #4 in Pico Rivera, Ca instead.

I agree this card should be free..But I dont think it is as horrible as you make it sound..It’s still fairly decent..It’s just the UFC should never have “fairly decent” cards..They should all be staked, with the talent they hold.

The Swick/Davis fight should be good, But dont sleep on the Vera/Werdum fight..I am really looking forward to this fight..

That fight has fireworks written all over it..It will most likely be “fight of the night”…

by Stagger-Lee on May 27, 2008 7:50 AM EDT up reply actions

This is a better event then many of you are giving credit for. These will be very competitive hard fought fights….No Blow outs (except for Davis putting a hole through Swicks face…EARLY!!!)

by john on May 27, 2008 8:55 AM EDT up reply actions

thats the thing of it. you dont know until afterwards if its gonna be a great card or not. if alot of the fights are exciting, then all will say what a great card. if boring it will be labled as a bad card. no title shots and on in the noon-time should warrent it being free though imo. im still flip-flopping on wether im goin to buy it or not. i can only compare it to ufc ireland and that was bad and for the 1rst time felt cheated by the ufc. then they had the free one and some good ufn’s and that helped make up for it. come time i will still probably end up buying it cuz i cant help my self. you never know whats gonna happen or what you might miss.

by b.w. on May 27, 2008 10:53 AM EDT up reply actions

you all act like this card wa sput together like this form the very beginning. it was and amazing card at first but injuries and jail time are a big circumstance that cant be controlled at all by the ufc, danna, nor zuffa! a show is a show! you all act like if it was in your town you woulnd go see it! BS!! anyways UFC 78 was the worst card put together on purpose!

by twizted203 on May 27, 2008 1:25 AM EDT up reply actions

2 weeks after the card of the year…. then expected to shell out another $40 damn

by braveheart on May 27, 2008 3:17 PM EDT up reply actions

I dont know about you guy’s, but the more I think about this card?..the more I cant wait for it…

Some of these fights look like they will be great..

by Stagger-Lee on May 31, 2008 4:15 AM EDT up reply actions

I prob won’t watch this one either… not interested in the least..

by THORAZINE on May 26, 2008 11:22 PM EDT reply actions

there is no way im paying 45 dollars for this when i can get my fix watching great cards like wec, dream 4,strikeforce,elite ex hawaii and tuf 7 for free

by jimmy v on May 26, 2008 11:40 PM EDT reply actions

i meant elite xc

by jimmy v on May 26, 2008 11:41 PM EDT reply actions

im gonna pay for this

I mean why not its a decent ppv in my opinion

by matthew on May 26, 2008 11:51 PM EDT reply actions

wtf this fight card is as good as 84 and has a better undercard.is it because its here in england and bispings on the card?lol

by scott on May 27, 2008 3:19 AM EDT reply actions

The only fight I am interested in is the Swick vs. Davis one. It seems like it will be a huge adrenaline rush the entire fight.

Something tells me it will not go to a decision…

by Axe Grinder on May 27, 2008 3:29 AM EDT reply actions

I’d agree that the Davis fight might be interesting, mostly because I like Mike Swick being punched in his face repeatedly. Other than that this is – as many stated – a terribly weak card.

And seriously … promote Hughes still as the “greatest weltherweight of all time”? Really? By this standard Tito Ortiz is the greatest light heavyweight of all time because he held the belt for 3,5 years. Ridiculous, I think the MMA fans are not that easily fooled.

by YouTapped on May 27, 2008 4:48 AM EDT reply actions

What a weak statement to compare Hughes and Tito. I think you should stop being a Hughes hater, honestly.

by Smokes on May 27, 2008 10:27 PM EDT up reply actions

how can anyone not hate Hughes?

by Stagger-Lee on May 31, 2008 4:14 AM EDT up reply actions

Get real some of you. This is a good card; me thinks some of you are getting a little bit fussy!!!! Considering the injuries to fighters before these fights they have done a good job in patching it up. No its not the best event (I am not a Hughes fan) but most of these fighters want a title shot eventually so they will be given it their all.

These Bisping haters can stop as well he fought a brilliant fight last time and he is always exciting to watch. I’m going to watch it because I am an mma fan and this has some decent fighters on it, end of story.

by Nuts on May 27, 2008 5:13 AM EDT reply actions

this is a good card, the only problem with this card is that it’s two weeks after UFC 84 which was an awesome card. It’s going to take a while for us to get back in accepting good cards again :)

by linx on May 27, 2008 7:50 AM EDT up reply actions

I agree with Nuts! This card doesn’t have the WOW factor but there are a lot of interesting match ups that will shape the divisions

by braveheart on May 27, 2008 3:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Just teeing away is Michael Bisping!

by braveheart on May 27, 2008 6:36 AM EDT reply actions

I’m going up to this event, though was gutted when Liddell pulled out! How much you guys pay for the PPV events over that side of the pond?

by UKMMA on May 27, 2008 8:10 AM EDT reply actions

Here in Canada, we pay $44.99…It used to be $39.99, but earlier this year it jumped price…

I think it’s the same in the U.S, but im not 100% sure.

by Stagger-Lee on May 27, 2008 8:19 AM EDT up reply actions

Roughly 25-GBP, seems kinda harsh in all honesty, especially if it aint a great card. Seriously, how can they justify charging for events such as 78 (Bisping vs Evans). Maybe i’m just cheap, lol.

by UKMMA on May 27, 2008 8:52 AM EDT up reply actions

it is stagger-lee. $45 bucks in the u.s. as well.

by b.w. on May 27, 2008 10:46 AM EDT up reply actions

yeah thought so.
And it will probably be $50, next year..

by Stagger-Lee on May 27, 2008 12:03 PM EDT up reply actions

Not to excited about this one.. I think we have been spoiled with the last 3-4 great UFC events. I am not sure if watching Hughes fight is worth $45.. Pierre vs Fitch on the other hand…record breaker!

by yoububg on May 27, 2008 9:19 AM EDT reply actions

this is just as good a card as 84. it will be awesome to
see bisbing get worked and swick. and hughes. this is actually a not bad card. if you all complain about the $45
just get some friends together and pitch in. whats 45 bucks a month anyways. be lucky to be able to rent it at all.

by Irish Hand Grenade on May 27, 2008 9:25 AM EDT reply actions

I agree. Think about it guys, $45 isn’t even a hefty bar tab or dinner with your girl. So drink a little less the weeks before, dump your woman for a weekend and watch a fight. lol

by chefdaddy on May 27, 2008 12:20 PM EDT up reply actions

How can anyone say this or any other event is a “bad card” before even watching it??? There are tons of talented fighters, and we all know you can’t rely on BIG NAMES to make GREAT FIGHTS.

With names like, Hughes, Alves, Vera, Werdum, Swick, Davis, Marquardt, Leites, Bisping, etc, I’m going to watch it.

Sure, I might invite some people over and have them all chip in on the PPV, but I’m definitely watching it.

To say “Boycott” is ridiculous.

by Cool Hand Chad on May 27, 2008 11:23 AM EDT reply actions

i’m pretty sure that this card will surprise a lot of people and turn out to be a good night of fights.as long as no one empoloys a lyoto-starnes type of strategy.

by the Levi on May 27, 2008 12:16 PM EDT reply actions

If it wasn’t for that crappy TUF series which is now way past it’s prime (and no, I don’t watch it anymore so don’t say “just don’t watch it”) and does nothing but delay great fights, this card would have had Nogueira and Mir as it’s main event. Imagine that main event with these other fights? This would have been one of the sickest cards by far.
