Yeah Urijah, underestimating Jens Pulver is always a good move. He’s never pulled off an upset before.

These 2 guys are making a lot of hype for this fight. Hope it lives up to the expectations.

Jens is finished. Joe just knock him silly and BJ Toyed with him. This fight won’t last 1 rd.

Hopefully it stays standing for a little before Urijah takes Jens down and dominates. But I have said it before, If anyone has that 1 punch KO power at 145 lbs, its Jens, and sometimes thats all it takes.
Anyone know the odds on this fight?

I haven’t seen anything yet, but I would guess Faber will be between -250 and -300. Pulver +180-200.

I really hope Jens can pull this out. There just something about Urijah “i’m the man, i’ve always been the man. I was the man when i was a little kid and i’m the man now” Faber.

charles bennet? jeff curran? ivan menjivar was disqualified. who else! joe pearson has on and off days! there are plenty of guys in japan who are at or could easily make 145 who are better than faber! id love to see faber fight shinya aoki it would be nasty! granted aoki would most likely win easily but faber has talent and its wated fighting the fights he has been fighting! pulver is his first big fight after going 20-1 kid yammamoto and many others would provide stiff competition! what will the wec do if he beats pulver

faber’s been fed cans by the wec since he’s been in the organization. he’s had title defenses against guys that are 4-0. a lot of experience there. it’s pathetic the inexperienced guys they’ve fed faber

Comments like saying Faber’s only fought cans shows they don’t know much about Faber. Also the lower quality opponents Faber has destroyed, like he should. The higher caliber opponents he’s beaten handily… He’s fought everyone that’s anyone in the WEC 145lb division. He’s waiting for tougher competition, this guy is excited about it.

Cub Swanson is not a can either. In fact, Jens was looked at as a “stepping stone” for Cub.

Pulver vs. Faber.. going to be exciting for the first 25 seconds.
Faber will take him down and own Pulver.

Wow. That’s a bold statement. It took someone the caliber of BJ to own Pulver on the ground and that was after some considerable effort on BJ’s part. I would not be surprised if Pulver pulls off the upset…

never seen any work their grip strenth the LilEvil does in this vid. pretty interesting.I know most people think that the only way for Jens to win is by KO, but i would like to see him submit Uriah.but i think this fight is to close to put money on.
GO Lil Evil

its a difficult fight for both guys. Jens has a lot of experience and has wins over some of the best fighters in mma. He’s got great stand up, and a vicious left hook. Urijah, is the champ, he’s still young put he’s proved his own and deserves this fight for sure. He’s training with BJ and Lauzon, it’ll be interesting how his camp goes training with two guys that have recently beat Jens.
this fight is too close to put money on. I’ll say Pulver 2nd round, 2:45 TKO/Ref Stoppage

I agree with many on the thread that Faber’s resume doesn’t match his big ego. Pulver has fought wars against the best guys in the world. Faber (for the most part) hasn’t fought anyone great. Even Curran is not of the same caliber as guys like Penn and Gomi. It would be great if Pulver pulls this one out.

It’s gonna’ take more than tennis balls to beat Faber. I’m not sure if the past year has been enough for Pulver and his rededication to training in Ju to prepare him for his ground game. If Pulver’s take own defense keeps it standing he’s got a decent chance, he’s always been a good wrestler.

Jens is not UFC LW champion material anymore, but he’s just one of those guys like Matt Serra that can give anybody a hell of a fight on any given night.

That said, I think Faber training with BJ will better his game. I still see Faber winning, but in a tougher fight than most people think. Faber was also training with Joe Lauzon, so he trained with the last 2 guys who beat Jens.

I still can’t believe that so many people count Pulver out at 145? I don’t mind that most people think he will lose, but some of these comments don’t make any sense to me…DO YOU KNOW WHO ’LIL EVIL" IS?

Faber reminds me of Sean Sherk without steroids.
by Ro on May 22, 2008 8:44 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Which is why BJ Penn has allowed Faber to train with him. It’ll help BJ destroy Sherk. I really hope lil evil pulls it off though.

Faber is the WEC’s golden boy, and a dominate champ, but I agree that he’s never experienced competition like Pulver. It’s unwise to rate a fighter on one upset (Lauzon). Look at Pulver’s full career, the guy can beat the best fighters in the world when he’s on his game.
If I were to bet, I’d say Pulver.
