'UFC Countdown' 84 on Spike TV tonight at 11 p.m. ET (Tuesday)

Countdown to UFC 84: "Ill Will" will air tonight on Spike TV at 11 p.m. ET to promote the pay-per-view (PPV) event slated for this Saturday, May 24 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Not like it needs anymore hype -- BJ Penn and Tito Ortiz have talked up their respective bouts like no other. It's going to be an interesting night of fights to say the least.
Fireworks, anyone?
Here's what we can expect on the hour-long program this evening via UFC.com:
"Go behind the scenes as BJ Penn (Hilo, HI) and Sean Sherk (Oak Grove, MN) prepare for a lightweight championship battle. See how they train, eat and live in their home towns."
You definitely don't want to miss this.
But in case you do, UFC 84 Countdown: Penn vs. Sherk will re-air at 12 a.m. ET on Friday, May 22.

I love how sherk says the evidence is there. yeah the CSAC didn’t overturn your suspension. he’s convinced himself he’s innocent. Show me the proof he didn’t juice. what he did was miscalculate his cycle!

Can’t wait… I’ve changed my mind so many times but I do think Sherk will go the distance for the decision. BJ is truly gifted but he just cannot last. I think it’s genetics.. much the same way he will never look ripped no matter how lean he is.

jesus christ Machida is even boring when he talks. If his boring fight style isn’t bad enough, he could talk his way to a decision via putting Tito to sleep.
Go TITO

I’m sure his interviews are much more entertaining when conducted in his native Portuguese.

Card looks sick. Nothing new tonight, but will get my pumped for Saturday. All 3 fights can go either way, which is why this card is so good.

This is a very exciting card. I would love to see Sherk, Machida and Wanderlei Silva win. But all 3 of these fights are too close to call and I wouldn’t want to bet on any of them.
I think the steroid issue is the reason some people don’t like Sherk. He insists he never used them and his level was just above normal, which can rarely occur in people not using steroids. Steroid levels can vary from minute to minute, so BJ’s statement that, if Sherk never used steroids, his level will test slightly high again, isn’t necessarily true.
I was surprised to hear Dana White say he really wants to see Tito lose. I don’t think I have ever heard him take sides on a UFC match before. It would be funny to see Tito lose right before leaving the UFC, when he is trying to land a big contract. That might take away a little of his bargaining power.
I used to love seeing Wanderlei destroy people in Pride.
If he doesn’t win this fight, he might be out of the UFC. Jardine has beaten several of the best in the division, so Silva may have his hands full.

Get your exclusive BJ PENN t-shirt that he and his cornerman will be wearing at his fight at UFC 84. Here’s the link to check out what the shirt looks like. It’s pretty sick.

This article doesn’t state anything new, but it’s still a good read. Penn states that he literally doesn’t want to kill Sherk, but he does want to KO or choke em out. Haha here’s the link from this mornings Honolulu Advertiser:

Was a good countdown. They highlighted alot of the main themes in that soft sound track music. Some of the testmonies had alot of substance.

Machida’s english is really coming along. He must be working on that to make himself more marketable. He is getting himself ready for that title shot. I just hope he continues to push towards making his fights more exciting also.
by PJJ on May 21, 2008 12:28 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
That’s exactly what I was thinking, he realizes he has to be marketable and finish fights to get that title shot, and thats exactly what he’s doing.

Best UFC COUNTDOWN TO DATE!… Ortiz’s head is somewhere else… it’s going to land outside the cage in Dana White’s lap when Machida is through with him.

Decent, i thought the tito/machida fight got a little too much time of the hour but whatever . . . BJ looks and sounds beyond ready!!!
by ( (Adam G) ) on May 21, 2008 3:05 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
They were using that time to introduce Machida to more fans…good move IMO.
