Should be good.

by Macho Bullshit on May 19, 2008 12:37 PM EDT reply actions

it would be great if it were free like it should be. i’ll sign any petition anyone gets going on this. it worked for the last ufn to go 3 hrs, maybee it will work again.

by b.w. on May 19, 2008 12:47 PM EDT reply actions

I highly doubt it work… they probably already signed the deal with the ppv company…

by NewGuyTheGunMan on May 19, 2008 12:48 PM EDT up reply actions

ur right. just wishful thinking on my part. i bought the ufc ireland last year w/ franklin vs okami with no title match and aired at 3 in the noon and it sucked so bad that i swore i would never bur an afternoon fight again. and that was when it was 39.99. i wont be buying this one (the 1rst in a long while) and will wait till later that eve or the next day and catch it for free on the web.

B.W: 3:00 UFC events are perfect…..Hooters baby!

by john on May 20, 2008 8:12 AM EDT up reply actions

Umm.. This may be the first PPV card I skip in over 2 years.

by ldcpanther on May 19, 2008 12:50 PM EDT reply actions

You haven’t skipped events like UFC 72 and UFC 78 but you will skipp this???.

This is a stacked card from top to bottom

by Lyoto on May 19, 2008 12:59 PM EDT up reply actions

This event is being boadcast in the UK on setanta which is a monthly subscription of £10 so its not an exclusive ppv so to speak.Im in the UK so will spend the money to see it live as we don’t get the USA events live.

Btw mania on the ufc schedule page you still have Bisping vs Leben not Jason Day.

by robw on May 19, 2008 12:55 PM EDT reply actions

It migh be stacked but not with fighters im interested in. . . . Probably wont watch this one cause no fight has immediate implications unless hughes loses which to me puts the other dude up in title area behind fitch but since gsp would whoop that ass it still doesnt really matter! the last ones i didnt see were the Lesnar/mir/silvia/nog card and the rematch between silva/franklin, i wanted to see the silva/franklin rematch but things happened with my son that weekend. And whenever tim silvia is involved i skip it and just boo at my blank tv screen which to me is the same thing as watching a silvia fight.

actually you never know if a fight card is great until after it is over. last years “stacked” had 3 title shots but was kind of a dud and later they had a ufn that was awesome. so i guess what i’m trying to say is that mma is very unpredictable. whoulda thunk it?

by b.w. on May 19, 2008 1:37 PM EDT up reply actions

I AGREE! There was so much talk about “Rapid ire” being a crap card and barely worth the BJ Penn fight, THEN BOOOOOM!! Every fight was a an awesome knock out starting with Grove going down to Rivera and ending with the only non-knock out of the night in a blody mess of a BJ Penn fight!!! I suppose you’re right huh, and i love watching Hughes go down, his twinkle eye when he wakes up or has a choke undone is priceless, wether its GSP, BJ Penn, or Dennis Hallman, i love watching him go down just to watch him wake back up.

by ( (Adam G) ) on May 19, 2008 1:49 PM EDT up reply actions

lol! love too see him go out just to see him come out of it w/ that confused “what happened” lok on his face. priceless indeed!

by b.w. on May 19, 2008 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions

yup, then he throws in that shrug of the shoulders like “whatever, i didnt want to win this one anyway” LoL, hate MFS fighters!!

by ( (Adam G) ) on May 19, 2008 1:57 PM EDT up reply actions

Suck it up sally, so three guys beat him and your talking shit. Whats BJ do when he loses? You hugger!

by Bic on May 20, 2008 10:23 AM EDT up reply actions

This should not be a PPV, It’s only 2 weeks after UFC 84…How many people can blow 90-100 bucks on tv in 2 weeks time?

by Rumbler on May 19, 2008 1:47 PM EDT reply actions

AND theres the free WEC Faber card in between which would probably quench most peoples thirst for MMA if they still need some after UFC84 . . . Expect low #s Dana, but expect #s for sure.

by ( (Adam G) ) on May 19, 2008 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions

I think this should be a great card, personaly I can’t wait. And if you don’t like it, or think it should be free, just go to a bar and watch it or get a bunch of friends together and split the cost. I just hope Thiago KOs Hughes.

by Haze on May 19, 2008 1:58 PM EDT reply actions

WORD!

by ( (Adam G) ) on May 19, 2008 2:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Well hope in one hand and shit in the other! Hughes will just choke this sally out.

by Bic on May 20, 2008 10:24 AM EDT up reply actions

I am going to this. From an unbiased view I can say this card looks awesome. Would hav ebeen better with Chuck vs Shogun but nevermind. My favourite card this year was UFC 80 (I didnt go to it), I missed UFN 13 but apparently that was awesome.

73 was so stacked but was boring. I base my predictions on how good a card will be on the excitin-ness of a fighter.

UFC 84 will be very good, but not great to watch with a new UFC fan. Tito, Machida and Sherk on the same card!?!?! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

That is cancelled out a bit by Wanderlei, Jardine and Penn. So the card will be great, one of the best ever, if you are a true UFC/MMA fan with knowledge of fighters and technique, but for UFC fans who just want to watch some brawls (I prefer brawls to high-skilled matches) then UFC 85 is the card to get!

I would still consider myself a hardcore fan, so anyone who would call brawl-fans TUF noobs are idiots.

by UFC 85!! on May 19, 2008 2:23 PM EDT reply actions

Yea UFC80 was epic!!!!! For what it looked like on paper and ill quote you “ZZZZZZZZzz” Then BOOOOOM!!! Every fight was a FAT KO!!! AND the bloody mess at the end to bring it all home! Maybe low expectations also helped a bit but stil, UFC80 was my favorite UFC ever! NO CONTEST!!! Plus BJ Penn (my favorite fighter) into the mix of it all . . . Just an EPIC MMA night!! I only see UFC84 coming close to beating it for whats on tap or the rest of his year so far, so many names and KO posibilities PLUS PENN again! DAMN!! Cant wait!

by ( (Adam G) ) on May 19, 2008 3:03 PM EDT up reply actions

Good card. Swick vs. Davis should be a scrap! maybe fight of the night.

by Ground-Game on May 19, 2008 2:25 PM EDT reply actions

easy money for them

by braveheart on May 19, 2008 4:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Bitch bitch bitch.

by Maruader on May 19, 2008 2:34 PM EDT reply actions

Card looks good to me! All good fights and for some reason the 10:00PM start makes it more exciting.

by Robert on May 19, 2008 2:40 PM EDT reply actions

Looks good to me, not to buy the PPV, so it’s time for some wings @ hooters LOL!

I don’t think Thiago it’s at Matt Hughes level, this has to be an easy win for Matt.
Mike Vs Davis is an awesome fight, can’t wait for it, both guys are great.

by Diego on May 19, 2008 4:46 PM EDT reply actions

What the hell is up with youtube these days. The videos are always “No longer available” is anyone else getting this or am i going FREAKIN CRAZY DUDE!!!!!!!!!

by Kahaluu caz! on May 19, 2008 7:26 PM EDT reply actions

It would be better if it were Matt vs Karo

by Hamilton on May 19, 2008 10:11 PM EDT reply actions

I agree, Karo would put up a better fight but in the end Hughes would still probably win.

by Bic on May 20, 2008 10:28 AM EDT up reply actions

yeah irvin’s gonna beat some ass ive been a fan of him since he fought hector ramirez at sylvia vs. monson.

people doubted him against the “unstoppable” houston alexander and he tied the fastest knockout victory.
cant wait to see him in action

btw is monson ever going to come fight in the ufc agian?

by tapps on May 20, 2008 12:28 AM EDT reply actions

Doubtfull, but he and Nog would make for an excellent ground war!!! But since Nog also has standup he would probably use that mose and kepp away from the grond like Timmy did. Mir/Monson would be decent also, but again, Monsons lack of standup limits the guys he could fight.
