Mania, thank you so much for posting this! I have been
trying to get people to vote for 2 days now. I am not voting on the 2nd round of the lightweight grand prix yet because we dont know who will win the Aoki fight.
But for the middleweight grand prix please vote for:
Gerard Moussasi vs. Kazushi Sakuraba
Jason Mayhem Miller vs. Jacre
They will be 2 great fights

I went with Alvarez-Kawajiri and Uno-Aoki/Nagata winner (aka Aoki). It might be just as interesting the switched the other way, too, though.

Voing is a little confusing because the fighters names are written in Japanese….So here is how to vote for the middleweight grand prix:
To Vote for what fights u want to see, click on this link: http://www.dreamofficial.com/special/vote/middle.html
That link will take you to the webpage…The problem is that all the fighters names are witten in Japanese. Once u r on the voting page, scroll down the screen and u will see a blank space vs. another blank space, and then four more rows just like it.
When u get to the 1st row, click on the thing next to the 1st open space, you will then have a list of japanease names to choose from. Moussasi is the the 3rd japanese name down from the top….Then go to the other side of the vs. and click the thing next to the back space and Sakuraba is the 4th fighter down from the top.
From there scroll down to the next blank space vs. Blank space. Click on the tab next to the 1st blank space and choose the name 5 down from the top and that will be Mayhem miller. now go over to the other side of the vs. and click the tap: scroll down and Jacre is the name thats the 2nd up from the bottom.
After that fill the rest of the match ups with the names that werent used above and when you are all finished just click the big green tab at the bottom.
Please VOTE!!! I would rather vote for this then the president of the USA. lol
I really hope that all u faithful bloggers go over to the site and please vote:
sakuraba vs. Moussasi
and
Mayhem vs. Jacre
Thanks!

Done and done!…For those who are not familiar with these fighter’s, I can assure you both fights(will/would) be great!

i did just like you said, but my tab at the bottom was blue. i pushed it and it seemed to go through, think its still ok that it was blue not green? jacare/mayhem is a dream fight (appropriatly named.)

B.W: That should be fine….I voted a couple of times and sometimes the tab was blue and other times it was green, it shouldnt matter.
Stagger lee, I voted a couple times already and they dont seem to be blocking me from repeat voting….so VOTE AWAY my friend!
Thanks for the support guys!

Clayton: I think you picked the 2 best match ups possible for the lightweight grand prix, and I hope that the rest of the voters vote the same way you did….Good stuff Clayton….It is appreciated!

The two fights that i thought would be the best for the mwgp were mayhem/tamura and jacare/saku. as for the lwgp I put alvarez/kawajiri and uno/aoki-nagata winner.

I’d love to see Alvarez-Kawajiri in the finals, just because it would be as physical and intense as Hansen-Alvarez was. The only problem with that is that the style of either Uno or Aoki might be a showstopper for both Alvarez and Kawajiri.
I can see Aoki submitting Kawajiri from his rubber guard, when Kawajiri tries to bring the GnP, just as Uno might submit Alvarez (just remember how well Uno did at Abu Dhabi).
Actually .. whatever the matchup, DREAM 5 will be a amazing!
Alvarez – Uno
Kawajiri – Aoki
CroCop – LeBanner
Diaz – Sakurai
Good times!

You tapped….Dont forget that a stud of a heavyweight: Sergei Kharitonov is rumored to be making his debut at DREAM 5…no opponent has been mentioned but I really enjoy watching Sergie BANG!
by john on May 15, 2008 11:08 AM EDT up reply actions
It feels like forever that I saw Kharitonov, I actually thought he retired from MMA after the end of PRIDE. I’d love to see him armbar people again.
by YouTapped on May 15, 2008 11:14 AM EDT up reply actions
Sergei’s KO over Ninja was a classic. Also Sergie vs. Big Nog in the 2004 PRIDE HW Grand Prix was a spectacular fight!
Very much looking forward to the return of Kharitonov!!!!

What do you need a translation for? If you pick a fighter from the drop-down menu their image appears.
by YouTapped on May 15, 2008 10:00 AM EDT up reply actions
Who the hell works in Dream’s marketing department!? How can they not have an English version of the site!? Idiots.
by Mark on May 15, 2008 10:10 AM EDT reply actions
Oh no! A japanese promotion dares to use japanese on their official website! You insulting them is clearly justified.
But then again, with 20 seconds of using a standard-sized brain you could have figured out that this link will give you a full translation:
http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.dreamofficial.com/special/vote/light.html&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.dreamofficial.com/special/vote/light.html%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG
The question that remains is … who’s the idiot now?
by YouTapped on May 15, 2008 10:36 AM EDT up reply actions
Lol thanks for the link that helped although the pictures still show up so it isn’t all that hard to pick the fights. I’m sure someone in Japan is like what the hell why isn’t the UFC website in Japaneese lol.
Caol Uno is taking this tourny by storm
I hope he and Aoki go to the finals.

i dont think they care right now about america, but in time they will and will most likely have both japnese and english versions. pride did, didnt they?
by b.w. on May 15, 2008 11:18 AM EDT up reply actions
Until DREAM 3 you couldn’t even order the PPV in the States, so what would have been the point in translating it so far? Now that HDNet has picked it up and if the numbers look good they will most likely (just like PRIDE) start to accomodate the english-speaking fans as well as their primary audience.

Uno – Kawajiri- Uno best chance to rnd 2 and redemption for Ishida

I’m rooting for Tatsuya Kawajiri to take it all.
by JonnyBoy on May 16, 2008 4:55 AM EDT reply actions
Ha, that’s funny you say that… I’m actually rooting against this guy.
I just watched a couple of his fights, and damn, his style is boring as hell! He uses the old GnP. Clinch, drag opponent to the mat, pummel with weak hammer fists until end of fight. He’s like a mini version of Tito Ortiz.
