Gina Carano E:60 ESPN segment to debut tonight (Video update)

Popular Elite XC female fighter Gina "Conviction" Carano will be showcased on the ESPN program "E:60" tonight at 7 p.m. ET (it will be broadcast in HD, fortunately).
Carano has a historical fight coming up in less than three weeks against fellow Muay Thai specialist Kaitlyn Young on the "Saturday Night Fights" CBS under card that is set to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on May 31.
It's the first-ever mixed martial arts (MMA) event to air live on network television.
However, it is not her first appearance on national television. She is also a regular on NBC's "American Gladiators" as "Crush" where she specializes in the joust. "Crush" is undefeated.
Tonight's program will no doubt focus on women competing in MMA and combat sports in general. There will probably be a lot on Carano's upbringing as an athlete and a fighter and how she got into MMA. It should be pretty interesting.
Definitely catch it if you can ... 7 p.m. ET on ESPN or ESPN HD.
ESPN "E:60″ is hosted by Tom Farrey, Lisa Salters, Jeremey Schapp, Rachael Nichols and Michael Smith.

This isn’t news, just post her picture so everyone can leave a dumb comment. WMMA is too young to deserve this publicity. Both fighters have a bloated fight record, although they are both tough the little girls they faced are push overs.

Sweet. While American Gladiators was fairly boring, the 1 or 2 fights I’ve seen of hers have been pretty decent. Looking forward to the show.

I just watched it…yes I’d do her, she is attractive, but it’s all about selling a product. There are (don’t ask me to name them) other women with far more talent, but faces like mine! It is what it is, the 3 minute rounds are lame, and the fact that she has never made weight (135) is lame too. If GSP (for all you guys that hang together on his nuts) didn’t make weight, you’d all be heading off on the same band wagon you came in on, why the double standard…because she has tits?? I’ll stick to mma when I want to see a fight, and porn when I want to see tits (or my wife, lol )

booo keving…get the hook!!! your of your rocker bro…and you are just straight up hating…she doesnt make weight because the athletic comissions allow it since there is no real weight class division for woman in elite xc…basically every female mma fight youve seen on elit xc has been a catch weigh agreement! they say you gotta make so and so weight! but they obviously allow it…and yeah her body does sell…the promotions and media make her out to be a sex symbol! she just signs autorpahs and takes pics to promote clothing! to be honest there is a reason ive seen rosy sextona and julie kedzie and tonya evinger (who obviously dont have as good records as those shayla and tara ) its because they arent as impressive as fighters to them… just like jason reinhart! 18-0 but didnt beat anyone!!! i believe gina is the cream of the crop of female mma! she is determined! good intenational experience and has the sand to hang with tough sparring partners and a great camp and couture!

Kevin, yes sad but true commentary that a pretty face in woman’s MMA sells fights. Men want to watch the best fight the best, hence leaving a lot to be desired watching women’s MMA. Not enough women support watching other women in sports for the purity of it. If women’s MMA were more glamorous another demographic category of women would be more likely to support it. More importantly while Gina may not currently be the best, she is a true competitor and represents the sport well. I hear you on the weight issue just to make a minor point on that.
Carano did make weight the last 2 times… the clothes she was wearing were over 1/4 lb, she just didn’t have to strip.. Men can put a towel up and strip.

actually it is only a catch weight after she can’t make weight. the original weight class was 135, they bumped it to 140 because she can’t make 135

Carano was 1/4 over 140, take her top and shorts off, she makes weight. They also make a catch weight class for nick diaz, the double standard sometimes applies with organizations outside the UFC

As much as I find her attractive, the comments thus far are disappointing. Mania, I think you guys do a great job with this website. This is one of two places I frequent (the other is not Sherdog). You are a fucking idiot. She is one of the best strikers in women’s combat sports. Ask any chick that takes place in mma who is the most well rounded,has the most pontential,and is the best striker? Gina. Hands down. Sit on your fat, non training ass, and spit bullshit all day long. But don’t put down a real athlete who puts it all on the line and competes. A real mma fan would have nothing negative to say about a serious competing athlete.

Dom, she’s beaten 2-3 good fighters, however they were 135lbs and Gina didn’t make weight and fought anyway. I’ve watched 3 of her fights on internet, it’s obvious she’s a tough fighter, while not the best and needs to stay out of the 135lb weight class (hence the catch weight 140 lbs), she’s definitely ‘tough’.
You’re just focusing on her ‘TITS’ who can blame u though?
Check out her record, watch a few of her fights, track her opponents records and see who they beat or lost to etc…
If u do that, and still say she’s just all BIG JUGS… then you’re just a knucklehead.

As far as woman fights go, I’ve seen a couple of Japanese girls go at it a few times, and I’ve seen Gina’s ELiteXC fights, as well as the Shayna Bayslor vs that hysterical, acid-dropping, freak show of a woman that she fought on ShoXC. My wife and I were laughing hysterically at this woman and her entrance. Unless Elite brings in LaRosa, I want to see Carano fight Shayna Bayzlor next. She is just sooooooooooo ugly and jealous it pisses me off. However, I’d give her a good chance to submit Gina. I’d just like to see Gina beat her face in and who know, Shayna might actually come out of the fight looking more attractive than when she went in. Someone send that girl to a dentist!
Jennifer Howe is the only fighter to beat LaRosa (I just looked it up, I did NOT know that one). She is like 34 years old though. ANyone know how old LaRosa is?

Lot of goofy comments. She is hot but she works hard and is trying to make it in mma. She’s no joke. She’s really good and I can’t wait to see her fight again. Some of you say women don’t need to be in mma but I disagree. All of the women mma fights I’ve seen, they really bring it. Where alot of the men will pussy-foot around and don’t really want to engage, these women know they have to put on a good show so they can prove themselves and be taken seriously, thefore they go all out and put on a heck of a fight. I wish Dana White and the UFC would take them seriously. Would love to see Gina Carano and Tara LaRosa in the UFC.

The only way I could imagine beating Gina is by going for an early take down. I would then have to adopt a lay and prey technique trying to hump her from the centre of the octagon towards the cage. She would eventually lose her temper and I would win by DQ after having my left eye gouged out….

For all the people who think she is a joke check out some of her Muay Thai fights. This girl can BANG!!
The only reason other fighters are jealous of her exposure (easy now lads) is because she is marketable and in the long run as long as she is a legit fighter, which she is, it is all good for WMMA.
She is beutiful and is trying to make the most out of herself, which is the only way she’ll make any decent money anyway as WMMA doesn’t make much money so what choice does she have? People will always hate on someone for being successful and that is exactly what she will be.

She’s a gifted athlete and a solid fighter. She may not have faced the stiffest competition, but of course Gary Shaw doesn’t want her to face anybody who will beat her or put a scar on her face. Like Kimbo Slice, she is one of his top marketable fighters. I wonder what she hates more, people hating on her or drooling on her. And of course she’s not going to be very popular to women, men mostly watch her because of how she looks. Straight women are going to prefer to watch GSP, Huerta, or Dan Cramer… now she may be popular to Lesbian MMA fans, but how many of them are there? She actually could be a good role model, but how many girls say that they want to grow up to be an MMA fighter and an American Gladiator? My daughter still wants to be a Disney princess, although she is an American Gladiator fan.
