Jonathan Goulet UFC 85 fight with Paul Kelly doesnt materialize

"The Road Warrior" will not be on the road to London, England, at the O2 Arena on June 7, according to MMAWeekly.com.
Goulet has to turn down a 170-pound bout, which was never made official, against undefeated English welterweight Paul Kelly.
The report indicates that Goulet pulled out due to undisclosed health concerns. However, over at TKO Xtreme, there's another story that says Goulet withdrew from the fight at the request of his new gym.
Here’s a snip:
"According to Goulet, The TriStar Gym requested that Goulet withdraw from the bout due to the short time frame given to prepare for the June 7 bout."
At the time of this report, Goulet was unable to be reached for comment. We'll try and sort this all out once more information becomes available.
Regardless of the reason behind the decision one thing is clear: Goulet is not fighting at UFC 85. And that's too bad because he really took it to a very tough Kuniyoshi Hironaka at UFC 83: "Serra vs. St. Pierre 2," earning "Fight of the Night" honors for his second round technical knockout of the Japanese product.
Goulet vs. Kelly was lining up to be a great fight -– here’s hoping Joe Silva can make it happen down the road. In the meantime, Goulet will now train at TriStar gym on a full time basis in Montreal, Canada, alongside the likes of David Loiseau and Georges St. Pierre.
That's some good company.

Not the biggest loss.
But I did think this fight would of been a good scrap..

Not even a fraction of the amount of a loss, compared to the possibility of the Leban/Bisping fight getting scratched.

With all of these fights getting dropped from the card Joe Silva really needs to pick up the slack. This PPV is already less than 1 month away. This fight not being on the card is not going to ruin it by any means, but UFC 85 has just been headed downhill ever since Liddell vs Shogun was first announced. This even is truely cursed.

Here’s what I say to the UFC and how this card is shaping up!! Lets get some guys that want to fight. If GSP can beat up Hughes (“greatest WW ever”) on short notice, anyone should be able to fight at any time. Look at the warrior mentality of Nick Diaz. Short notice and 2 fights within 33 days!!

Yo Sean, I thought GSP went to New Mexico to train with Team Jackson (the reason Diego left the camp). Was that just a short-term deal?

Hey Adam,
If GSP is training for a fight, my understanding is he is down in New Mexico. When I last spoke with Greg Jackson, GSP was bringing guys up to Montreal from the New Mexico camp as well.

Saying GSP trains in Montreal is more like, “We sponsor GSP to stop by when he is home” or something like that. He probably has keys to the place or something…

They better find someone to replace Goulet! I was really looking forward to seeing Paul Kelly Baqng again, and I am sure that the English crowd wants to see him as well.
If Luigi Fioravanti wasnt booked to Fight Diego in an absolute mismatch….Fioravanti vs. Kelly would be awesome.

GSP’s “gym” is Tristar, and his “team” is Team Jackson. He actually does most of his training in Montreal. Team Jackson guys come to Montreal to train with GSP when he has a fight, and GSP comes to New Mexico when those guys have a fight. GSP also trains in NYC, BJJ @ Renzo Gracie’s and Muay Thai w/ Kru Phil Nurse.

They NEED to be putting Dan Hardy in this fight against Paul Kelly. That has brawl written all over it.

Not enough time to prepare? He’s already in shape from the last fight, and top tier guys are ready to go any time. This is a pretty lame excuse

Goulet is crap, put him up to someone half good or great and he’s done.

Big dodge by Goulet!! Kelly would have messed him up.
Hope they find someone to fight Kelly.

I’m kinda glad Goulet dropped out. I break out in hives whenever I see his newest haircuts/colors.
