got this off of sherdog…it’s funny because I don’t think any stand up guy had a chance in the early days of the UFC.

Randy is borderline irrellevant at this point. I know I’m in the minority (bigtime!), but I just couldn’t care less on his opinions, fighting Fedor, etc.

havent watched the video, dont want to. i commented on weoweoweo,s original post that randy needs to stop worring about the ufc and start worring about his own failed ventures (affliction). as far as silv vs rj in a boxing match, if silva wants it so bad he should retire from the ufc and give up his belt. this is all about money and nothing else. there would be no discussion about silva/jones if it weren’t for him being in the ufc! a. silva shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds him.

i dont think its about the money for silva. he said that he’s happy in the UFC he just wants to prove that mma fighters can standup and be ‘technical’ strikers too.

well i dont know. if its not about the money, why doesnt he call out calzaghe or b-hop or even chad dawson, guys that are still in their prime. roy is a bigger name and would bring more money and offer less of a threat. bottom line is that silva has a signed contract w/the ufc to fight mmma not boxing. he should be expected to honor his contract just like randy.

b-hop is 43? rjj 39? not that it matters either one would win in a boxing match.

First off i’d have to say that Affliction is anything but a “failed” venture as you put it. Just because Dana banned it doesn’t make it failed. Correct me if I’m wrong but i do believe that Affliction has a major stake in the Sylvia/Fedor fight which will definitely make some $$$ especially with Mark Cuban and HDNet throwing in some $$$ as well. Secondly Anderson Silva is a true sportsman and loves a challenge and that is what he is looking at it as. Not as a huge payday. He won’t demand nearly as much $$$ as Jones Jr. If it comes to having to give up his belt and retire from the UFC, Dana will be making a huge mistake by letting the best fighter they have go somewhere else because he is so inflexible. The fans will have Dana’s head on a stick.
by SpiderStyle on May 6, 2008 2:21 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Assuming the $$$ plays out this is more of a risk for Silva than for RJJ.
RJJ is just looking for publicity for his obviously faded boxing career.
If Silva is bored he should lose/gain lbs and fight at another weight class.
Besides, Silva would get mugged by a HOF’er like RJJ.

i agree. id much rather see him fight gsp or rampge in the cage than rj in a boxing ring.

cuban and hd-net have pulled out of this deal last i heard. your,e right affliction hasn’t failed yet, but there are well on there way if they dont pull this fight card off. they have been banned from elitexc as well, right before their preimere on network tv. i hope affliction wasnt counting on paying its fighters w/ money earned from selling t-shirts and getting exposure from other organizations.
by b.w. on May 6, 2008 3:07 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Basically I understand why Dana won’t let silva box, but shit, let the guy get a great pay day. Worst case scenario is silva gets ko’d and boxing enthusiests can talk about hoe mma sucks. More realistic scenario is silva hangs with or out boxes RJJ, and mma enthusiests can say “see these guys cross train and are good at everything!” It’s really a win/win in my opinion. any exposure for the sport is good exposure (except someone dying in the octagon!~

If he wants some more money all he has to do is learn English and keep destroying everyone. The money will definatly come with the growing popularity in the USA. Fighting is not the only way to get a payday here.

hey john, saw your post about the Fedor/Timmy card. While impressive, where will it take place? How will they pay these purses? You’re at a business school, explain the economics to me. NO shows yet, overpaying guys, where’s the revenue?

I would love to find out? I dont break stories, I am not out there reporting, and I sure as hell dont make this stuff up. I read it on sites, some more respected then others, and I pass it along…..which is what I would want any of you to do for me.
If the Financial data, who the backers are, or any kind of info about that were available to me, I would take the time and analyze it and form an oppinion for myself….But because that info is not privy to me or any of you, I can only SPECULATE on what news outlets are reporting. I even said that they dont have a venue yet, what do u want me to do….just ignore it, like its not a possability…well sorry I cant just ignore whats rumored to be the greatest mma card in a long time… I just cant do it.
Hell, If you read tomorrow on a couple of different respected mma outlest that there is a monster mma card happening (that is within the realm of possibility) in an upstart organization….I hope you have the curtosy to pass along the info, even though you wont know the financial Data that we arent privy to anyway behind it too.
I read on a few different sites that have proven solid in the past that those were confirmed aspects of the event…So I passed it along! WTF do u want me to do, not pass it along….Fine I will be happy to, saves me time…I got nothing to gain…I usually even post the damn link so you can see it directly…so WTF. As you wish….I wont post any advanced news that I read, until I know the full financial details behind the whole event (which will be never).
Suite yourself!
I am not some big Business man dude, I am a freaking marketing student….should I appologize for going to school? My bad I am not married with 6 kids at the age of 25 like Joe Daddy Stevenson… Sorry I chose the school route. I hope u accept my humble appology for going to college.

dam bro, I was curious of your opinion, calm down. I reported the same thing last week about no venue, and I know you’re a big pride guy and thought you’d have an opinion. I asked about the pay because you’re a business student and once again value your opinions john. I think you took me asking questions out of context bro..I actually think you have a brain (unlike some of these guys), so I asked your opinion…little stressed at mid terms still??

John: Dont stop posting “advanced news”..Not all of us hate on you for every little thing..I like hearing news early, and even if it ends up false, (like you said, you “provide the damn link”).It’s not like you started the rumor.,
Regardless I would say a very good percentage of the “advanced news” you post, ends up to be true anyways….keep up the good work.

one more question John!!
I don’t think alekx emelienko can get a work visa…do you?? Would you let an ex con into the country?/ Leben had a drunk driving warrant and couldn’t get a visa without clearing it up, you really think they’ll let him into the country?
I’m asking what you think, not for facts!!
by kevin on May 6, 2008 3:45 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
There is no way I can ever even try to answer a question like that. The UFC which is super establ;ished doesnt give outr any info, so I dont even know what to think about Affliction.
I am not running the company, like all of you I am sitting back hoping that this affliction card turns out to be true/
I have no idea about how the company will be run, I dont even know who theire CEO is… I dont know if it wil be on P{ay per view/Hd net? I dont know who the financial backers are?….To be honest, I dont kno sh*t about the damn company (I wish I did)…all I know is they are dangling the biggest card of the year in front our faces andf that gets me antsy! I want this card to come true so bad….
Props to Tim Sylvia (never thought I would say it) in 1 year he will have faced Couture, Nogueira, Fedor. Now he will be 0,3 in those fights but I give him props fgor fighting top guys like that in 1 year (and Verra)

and what the hell ever happened to adreneline? that was supposed to be monte’s new org when tim and rothwell signed. you never here that name anymore.
by b.w. on May 7, 2008 1:00 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Bw: I thought Adrenaline was still having that event featuring Monson vs. Russow or something like that..
Monte Cox is a joke for trying to create his own organization…all he is doing is being an agent (which is all that he is anyway), he is going to pimp Sylvia and Rothwell out to different organizations from fight to fight….Nothing wrong with that because if the financial info that emerged earlier this week is accurate, then Sylvia is getting PAID and no one can fault him for that

Dear Randy,
You’re head got too big. You won 2 fights in a row after getting your head knocked off by Chuck Liddell.
Maybe you should start with a couple of light heavyweights before trying to fight FEDOR. I hope the fight happens and he breaks one of your cauliflower ears off and then chews on it while he’s snapping your arm with an arm bar.

Anything Randy has to say about Fedor is pointless. Geez, if the “fans have to come first” Randy, thus making the Fedor fight more important to the fans than you, just fight Fedor for free in your gym. Put it on YouTube and then shut the hell up.
by Graham on May 6, 2008 3:51 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Randy already said that he would do the fight for free. He already said that he would donate his purse to the GI Foundation. It’s Fedor who wouldn’t do the fight for free.

he should stay at the ufc and fight the guys at 205 or even GSP instead of boxing. boxing is too boring to watch. its just there will be more hype in that match but wont be satisfied with it and one thing the way randy gives interview i start hating him more.he is a liar……

A Couture vs. Fedor fight has lost a lot of its luster with the long drawn out legal bantering. If Tim Sylvia somehow manages to beat Fedor, than Couture vs. Fedor would lose a lot of its appeal.
I’d still watch it, of course. Kinda like Wandy vs. Chuck
by TABASCOsauce on May 6, 2008 4:58 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Randy is getting cocky as hell. He says Fedor will probably study his fight with Tim for strategy. Tim was injured going into that fight so you can’t use it for strategy. It’s almost as if Randy is implying that if Fedor was smart he would emulate himself. He really believes he is on the same level as Fedor. My God, man.
by Ixian on May 6, 2008 6:06 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I think Fedor would rip his arm off and beat him with it.

Please, please, please, can some of the interviewers take a course or read a book on journalism. I love the content, I love the enthusiasm of the people doing the interviewing, I just would like a little more reporting and a little less pandering. Ask a hard question…please. As long as you ask professionally, they won’t hate you.

Anderson Silva fighting a Elite Boxer in a Boxing match, cmon, no one could really think of that as a good idea.
Listen sure Silva could make some bank, but the UFC, Elite are not allowing anyone to fight a elite boxer.
First of all A. Silva striking comes from his leg and knee attacks! Thats his real power and talent. He has nice hands also, but not boxing talent.
Second This would be a three ring circus act: NSAC would not allow it so it would be a exibition match for money nothing else.
Third He is the UFC champion, he represents the biggest MMA promotion in the world. The one MMA promotion that actually means shit. Winning else were means nothing other then just a win. The UFC is MMA right now. Not to say Elite or the IFL are not legit they are, but there title holds less than 1% credability than the UFCs title.
When Silva gets tooled trying to box when he is a Muay Tai kick boxer and maks MMA fighters look like tards and tarnishes the UFC belt and his p4p #1 status against a fading RJJ, that doesnt make no sense to anyone with a half of brain. Weather you are a UFC nut hugger or not, if you have a clue you understand this.
Fourth Couture is a idiot! If it was his billions if not Billion of dollars invested in his product do we really think anyone would say he would be all for it? knowing the UFC is still fragile and there market share is very fragile.
Fifth Couture is taking every chance to screw with the UFC, ala Shaw! Shaw says we are here for the fighters, Dana and the UFC are for themselfs.
Well Diaz is pulled weeks away from his Dreams match and Affliction is now banned because they are comp!! I thought he was for the fighters, now he cant support there sponsors cuz they are comp! LOL. Affliction couldnt come to terms with HDNET and cuban on the Dallas Venue! Why would this be. Cuban has even helped Couture with his lawsuit. Why, Cuz Couture wants more cash for the prelims to be on HDNET! Why would he pull it from HDNET and his arena?Cuban wanted a good deal to. Coutere said no fucking way, they ne more cash for the prelims to air on HDNET! Why because they are going to over pay for the fighters on this card and lose there ass. The way i see it they need the prelims on HDNET to pump the PPV. Otherwise this doesnt sell 150K in buys. Couture is a greedy fuck and believes his name is all that matters.

Couture Vs Fedor will not sell, Couture who!! Been to long and he is getting older.
Also without the UFC marketing and hype machine so what!
casual fans wont care.
Silva retiring and fighting RJJ not being the UFC champ would fail terribly!
this could be ala boxing with its oscar influance:
Big Timmi goes in there and takes a dive for big money to hype up the cabbage patch doll klnown as fedor, because Fedor himself couldnt get one casual fan to gain interest he has no persona at all. The Fedor Vs Couture for the big dollars.

well, u know the money Anderson would make for that fight will probably be more than he will ever make in the UFC… i would love to watch that fight, if thats what Anderson wants and RJJ wants then the fight should happen! i love MMA but Boxing is still nice to watch when the best are going at it

This is what Gaydor wants he’s going to wait for Randy to get older before he fights him. I hope big Tim knocks him the F@#K out.

As much as I dislike Fedor, it’s not really his fault the fight between him and Randy hasn’t happened yet. The UFC offered him a bullshit contract that he couldn’t sign and the UFC is not letting the fight between him and Randy happen so if you want to blame anyone then blame Dana. It’s Dana’s fault the UFC didn’t land Fedor and it’s Dana’s fault the fight has not happened yet.
Although I am not a fan of Fedor, I hate Dana more because the fans have waited for this fight for a long time and because he wants to make an example out of Randy, this fight might happen when Randy is like 50.

they offered fedor the most money to a ufc fighter in ufc history, without ever fighting in the cage. all of fedors WANTS not NEEDS were what killed this fight. same goes for randy. they omly have themselves to blame.
by b.w. on May 7, 2008 1:06 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
why all the randy hate??
fuckin hell, ive gotten used to all the fighter bashing but this is getting out of hand. randy used to be captain americe, the peoples champion, then he leaves the ufc to challenge himself against the greatest heavyweight of all time, and people fucking SCOUR all over the internet desperately trying to find a reason to bash him. the moment a fighter does something that is not boring and normal, all you internet warriors have an orgasm and let the bashing begin. seriously you should al have a little self evaluation, look in the mirror and ask yourself “why do i hate on the fighters so much? is it because i am so insecure about myself that i need to bash well known athletes because it makes me feel good about myself? is that why i am unable to discuss anything other then how much randy sucks even though he has worked his ass off to get where he is, helped further the sport of mma a ton, never talks trash about other fighters, accomplished 10x more then i have with my lfe and is all around a respectful person? am i just jealous of his success?” seriously ask yourselves that question seriously, then think about wether you feel good about hanging shit on randy.
