as much as my heart wants silva to win, my head says jardine. I think silva is too small for 205

Rediculous.

I’d love to see Jardine win

Kinda unfair he doesn’t get a shot a the title, lyke if Chuck had gone and beat Rashad you’d know he’d get one

I am so sick of this who deserves a title shot sh#%. No one was complaining when Rampage got his after 1 win in the UFC. They will always pick the most marketable fight. Jardine is not very marketable. With that said, a guy cannot be denied a title shot with a bunch of wins in a row. Are you forgetting he only has 1 win since getting KTFO!

by bnf on Apr 25, 2008 2:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

And what did Jeremy Horn do in the UFC anytime recent to his title fight against Chuck? That UFC title fight took place in August of 2005 at UFC 54. The last time Jeremy Horn fought in the UFC prior to then was St. Patrick’s day 2001, where Horn LOST to Elvis Sinosic. In between, he had 35 fights in about 12 different organizations.

Now THAT’s what I call not earning a title shot. At least Rampage was coming off of his UFC debut win, and of course, he, like Horn, already held a victory over Chuck. When Liddell was champ, he wanted to avenge all 3 of his losses – Couture, Horn, and Rampage. “The Black Man ruins everything” – Rampage

I was not complaining that Rampage got his shot after 1 fight. I was simply using it as an example that the UFC puts on marketable title fights and Jardine is not marketable, especially on a 1 fight win streak. So what is the point of your argument? Jardine deserves a shot? Or are you just trying to impress everyone with your MMA memory bank?

wandy is going to kick the crap out of sardine, it will be worse the the ko he got from houston.

Linx: Wanderlei is going to be much more comfortable fighting in the Octagon this time then he was against Liddell. I expect wanderlei to come out like a bat out of hell, and storm right through Jardine.

Wanderlei WILL KO Jardine in the 1st round.

Linx: Sardine…I love it….He looks like he smells like one! lol

by john on Apr 25, 2008 3:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

and this is the first time he is going to be coached by randy. even though I hate randy for all the bs he pulled, he’s still a great coach. War wandy!

Though I’m a huge fan of Forrest… by all respects Jardine should have been given a title shot before him.

Wanderlei put on a great performance against Chuck back in December. I can’t wait to see him this time around.

Losing to Houston like that really fucked up his standing unfortunately

I dont think Jardine will be able to handle Silva’s style, his leg kicks will actually be checked this time :P

lol. i suppose want knows how to check a leg kick, while chuck does not. good point.

This is going to be a very entertaining fight!! I agree with you Zero, Jardine does deserve a shot at the belt!

by Big Jake on Apr 25, 2008 2:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i think that if jardine pulls this fight out he will be in line for a title shot. they tried to feed him to chuck and he gave chuck a run and beat him! now he is fighting silva who is no joke even though the fight with chuck was pretty one sided. i think that jardine is getting over looked by alot of people because he isnt as popular as chuck, rua, rampage, and griffin which we all remember how forrest did against jardine!!!!! i hope that jardine pulls it through and gets the win!!!!!

by Winner by Strikes! on Apr 25, 2008 2:50 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Jardine deserves a title shot? We’re talking about the same guy who lost to Stephan Bonnar and Houston Alexander right?
Both of those guys suck. And Jardine has 1 win in a row right now. to quote the greatest movie ever……

“We won yesterday, If we win tomorrow that will be 2 in a row. If we win the day after that it’s called a winning streak. It has happened before”

Apply that to getting a title shot.

by Mikey Gilz on Apr 25, 2008 2:57 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Jardine is 5-2 in the UFC. He beat Griffin and Lidell. Yeah he lost to Houston 1-punch Alexander. But who is on Griffin’s “winning streak”? Hector Ramirez? Who’s he? And he beat Shogun. That is a quality win I’ll give Forrest that. In your opinion, who deserves the shot at Rampage?

by Big Jake on Apr 25, 2008 3:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Totally agree except Jardine should have won the Bonnar fight….but people do keep forgetting that Jardine got spanked by Houston Alexander who is now considered a weak-chin 2 hit wonder. He beat Chuck by SPLIT descision…remember the 1st round he didnt do anything great and in my opinion the fight was not what I would call a beat down of Chuck, looked more like a rough sparring match, but I still woudlnt count Jardine out against Wanderlei.

by Chadx23 on Apr 25, 2008 3:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

This will be a good fight! I think Wanderlei has to many tools for the Dean of Mean to handle. Keith knew what Chuck was going to do (stand and throw) so his game plan wasn’t to tough to train, same for the Forest fight. Look at the Houston fight, Keith had no idea what that dude was capable of but I bet he trained a lot of wrestling…He got KO-ed. I see Wandi coming out like a chainsaw, right through Keith. No way will Keith work that game plan, Keith will be the Queen of Mean after this fight.

Lets check the numbers:
Forrest Griffin 6-2 record in the UFC *
Keith Jardine 5-2 record in the UFC

Griffin 2 fight win streak *
Jardine 1 fight win streak

Griffin: losses to Jardine and Ortiz *
Jardine: losses to Alexander and Bonnar

Griffin key wins: Rua, Bonnar
Jardine key wins: Liddel, Griffin *

Griffin = more marketable / popular / TUF winner *
Jardine = less marketable / less popular / TUF loser.

Griffin beats Jardine in 4 out of 5 catagories that should be used to determine who gets a title shot. The only category that Jardine has is more impressive wins. There is little argument that Forrest is ahead of Jardine in line for a title shot. Bonnar has a better record, losses to better opponents, a longer win streak and more fan interest than Jardine. Forrest is easily the winner.

If Jardine beats Silva he should moves up to next in line, but probably will be second in line behind Chuck.

by DonnyG on Apr 25, 2008 3:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I couldn’t agree more man, no matter who Forrest fights I’m pumped to see it. Jardine may have a little bit better of a record but his fights are no where near as interesting. I see Jardine’s next fight being Forest if Jardine beats Wand. It would let him settle his place and give Forrest a chance to fix his recent loss to Keith. I don’t think Jardine can out power Jackson which is what I believe he would intend to do.

I hope wanderlei force feeds “The queen of mean” some knees and steps his way into the title picture.

by alex on Apr 25, 2008 3:36 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

If Silva can get him in the clinch, it’s over, and over FAST!!!
Jardine has a herky-jerky style, so it’s difficult to get his timing. His best chance is to ground and pound Wandi.

by Ground-Game on Apr 25, 2008 3:47 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I hope Jardine beats him down, I think Wandy is not as tough juice free…….

by jet99 on Apr 25, 2008 3:53 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I bet wanderlei gets a title shot if he beats Jardine. I mean with Chuck out till September now and Rua out, the possibility of Rampage vs Silva is even greater and would sell like crazy. A fight between the two might happen sooner than expected. I now it wouldnt be deserving, especially if Machida wins his fight but I can imagine Dana putting Silva ahead of Machida just for marketing.

by JJ on Apr 25, 2008 3:56 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I want Silva to win badly, but I think Jardine maybe too big. I hope Jardine tries to slug it out. If so, Silva could cath him with a hook, then put him out with a knee or 6

by Martin on Apr 25, 2008 4:52 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Jardine has a jumpy, jerky, twitchy, silly form of standup, and it’s very effective….sometimes. That said, he outpointed Chuck, and stopped Forrest, but both of those guys standup is more technically sound than Wandy’s. I don’t think Jardine is gonna be able to deal with Wandy’s aggresive, knock your fucking head off, go for the throat style. Mark my words, Wandy will destroy Jardine, and in the words of Kimbo, thats real talk.

by primary Knuckle on Apr 25, 2008 5:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

did you just say chucks standup was technical?

but seriously, i might be inclined to agree with both of you. Wand is a small 205’er. Jardine has a tricky style except when someone comes at them hard (Alexander – Bonnar)

by Brandon on Apr 25, 2008 5:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Chuck’s stand up isn’t a crisp boxing style by no means, but as a back pedaling counter puncher, it’s more technical than Wandy’s. Wandy, without a doubt, has a stronger killer instinct man, this cat’s an animal: Jardine isn’t ready for aggression like that, he’s gonna get ate up.

by Primary Knuckle on Apr 25, 2008 7:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think Thiago Silva and Lyoto Machida are the best fighters right now that should be considered for a title shot… and that is if they both win their fights, Jardine should fight one of them next

by RoB on Apr 25, 2008 5:57 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Jardine- easy win

by thetuf75 on Apr 25, 2008 6:14 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i think that this will end very sudden,a quick ko!Id like to see Wandy win but you never know.Keith will probaly stay outside and attack with short bursts and pray he dont get caught. If Keith gets stuck in a Thai clinch its lights out for Keith.

Wait, Stephan Bonnar is a good fighter. I don’t think he’s a pansy at all!

Why do people worry about who get’s title shots? All I worry about it the UFC not putting on title bouts. It seems like the Light Heavy gets defended once a year lately. I also think it’s a little silly to keep giving title shots to the same people over and over (Chuck).

Definitely looking forward to this fight. I hope that Wandy hold true to “giving a knockout to him”.

are you stupid? Chuck hasnt had a shoot at the title yet since he lost it….

Anyone else notice the UFC is giving Wanderlei the one name treatment like they did with Sokoudjou. It seems they are only going to refer to him as “Wanderlei”.

WAND ALL THE WAY BABY!!!

by MMACrazy on Apr 26, 2008 10:56 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I really don’t think Jardine should be fighting Silva, he won a major victory beating Chuck and then the UFC give Silva who Chuck just beat! I think the only reason they did this was because they know Silva fighting style is going to be serious trouble for Jardine and Dana and the UFC want to keep Jardine well away from the belt, as like Lindalnd he is a marketing nightmare for them. I cannot re call a situation where after such a major victory you end fighting the person who lost to someone you just beat. They could have given Silva; Tito as they have a bit of history and Jardine could have fought Machida, but I think they are certain that Silva will do the Job Chuck couldn’t do. I knew Jardine was going to beat Chuck just beacuase of their fighting styles and said he would win that match. Silva has one of the worst styles for Jardine but I am still going to back him. People are also forgetting that Jardine has heavy hands, he stopped Forrest with strikes and knocked Chuck on his @ss with one punch but did not bother to follow up. Silva has got the worst style for him, but he could end up getting caught with some of Jardines strikes because of his reckless fighting style . I just want to carry on seeing Jardine being a pain in Dana and the UFC’s side, the same way Lindland was before they had to think of another way to get rid off him.

I’m really excited about this fight. I am ready to see this fight, probably a little better than the main event. In think it will be a great slugfest.
