Chuck Liddell hamstring injury (Pic)

This picture is worth a thousands words for all the critics who incorrectly surmised that former UFC light heavyweight champion, Chuck Liddell, pulled out of his fight with Rashad Evans at UFC 85 in London, England, on June 7 because he didn't want to travel overseas or for some other ridiculous reason.
The "Iceman" is clearly injured (torn hamstring), which UFC.com demonstrated earlier this morning with rather painful-looking evidence.
Here's a snip from UFC President Dana White:
"Unfortunately, Chuck Liddell tore his right hamstring during training last week, and being the warrior that he is, he still wanted to fight, which is the reason why everyone in the world loves him. But I wouldn't let anyone fight with his leg looking that way. Let him heal and come back and fight when he is 100 percent.... We're adding fights to the card and rearranging it so the UK fans won't have to worry, we'll still be bringing an amazing card to London and the O2 Arena. The UFC always delivers."
According to the report, the promotion will announce a new main event shortly, as well as the complete 13-fight line up for the show. In the meantime, check out the latest UFC 85 fight card right here.
Stay tuned for more details.

Yeah, either that, or its a photo of someone else. I don’t see Chuck’s face, do you? And to be quite honest, the stomach/gut in that picture looks waaaay too small to be Chuck Liddell’s. Especially if Chuck isn’t schuduled to fight for months – meaning he weight well over 205 right now.
by ViolentMike on Apr 22, 2008 10:21 AM EDT up reply actions
I hope you guys are being sarcastic. I wont second guess chucky, even though I hate him. Hope he recovers 100% so he can fight shogun and get his ass wooped. that looks nasty though.

Fights I want to see Chuck take place in are against Shogun, Dan Henderson, hten Machida…In that order!
Is anyone really going to miss Chuck vs. Rashad?
They should take Sokoudjou or Tiago silva off the UFC 84 card and have one of them face off with Rashad as a co main event in London!

look a the pic……….why is there a black square on the left side, something’s been removed!!! maybe it is chuck liddel in the pic, but an older photo of an old injury!!!

Nick J give me a break…….we all know the type of fighter chuck is….he wouldn’t lie about stuff like this.
by Homeslice on Apr 22, 2008 9:28 AM EDT reply actions
Was joking mate, when he was in London for his promo tour he seemed well up for it. A big shame tho.

You damn well that is Chuck. Look at the belly in the background. LOL
by GodDamnMike on Apr 22, 2008 6:24 PM EDT up reply actions
It’s all just a big conspiracy.
In all seriousness… who here thought that he faked injury to get out of going to England? What a stupid idea.
by Brandon on Apr 22, 2008 9:29 AM EDT reply actions
Both Chuck and his trainer John Hackleman basically said that they wouln’t fight overseas – they only fight in Las Vegas and California.
They were trying to do everything they could do not have the Shogun fight booked for England.

Is that really a picture of Liddell? i dont see a beer gut! I dont see painted nails! and his thighs look to skinny to be a light heavy weight fighters legs!
Is it really Liddell?
by john on Apr 22, 2008 11:50 AM EDT up reply actions
I can tell that was a picture of chuck from the shape of his arm, hands and midsection. Also if anyone raises their leg in like fashion, it will create the illusion of thinner muscles compared to other positions. pull up to a mirror in a chair and test it out. I know because i had a rash once and noticed my legs looked damn skinny in that position. You chuck haters hate him because he is popular and successful. Funny though he deserves all his fame and more and it somehow bothers alot of you guys, even though you would take the fame if you were like him, yet probably would get out of a fight if it was not in the best position for your ideals. He fought bobaloo the first time for the hell of it at great risk for his title shot. So he would fight evans for the hell of it. So his fame has not made him into a dodger of anysort. he still will fight anyone at anytime like the chuck before the fame. Chuck can beat rampage and the odds are in his favour the third time. So get used to chuck with the belt again soon.
by Bricam on Apr 22, 2008 2:19 PM EDT up reply actions
Bricam, the only reason he did fight Ronalto is because at the time there was no one else to fight him, and the UFC was still building up thier favorite fighter. Also, how can you say the odds are in his favor if he fights Rampage again? He got destroyed the first time they went at it, and Rampage has gotten a hell of a lot better since then. And then the second fight, Chuck straight up got KTFO. Rampage will SMASH Liddell again.
by Toms Bombs on Apr 22, 2008 3:36 PM EDT up reply actions
The odds are in chucks favour because its like a numbers game and anyone can win or loose in a second in this sport, and rampage is not that much better if not at all. Also their first match, chuck was off(Jetlag??), Rampage was on fire. Thats a rare instance in of itself. Plus chuck could not utilze the cage to get up,etc..Lastly, the second match, chuck just got caught while doing a dumb move and got caught while backing up. Hit in the perfect spot on the side of lower chin where 99% of anybody would go down. Plus they stoped the fight to early. So the odds are that chuck will catch Rampage next time and finish him with a TKO..
by Bricam on Apr 23, 2008 12:13 AM EDT up reply actions
I’ll take back what I said about Chucky possibly feigning injury so he doesn’t have to fight overseas. I said I reckoned he might be pulling something dodgy but this would appear to prove otherwise.
Those are some chicken legs though. I have to agree with John on that one. Hahaha Chuck has chicken legs…or that’s not Chuck lol. Either way OUCHY!!!
by RobH86 on Apr 22, 2008 12:52 PM EDT up reply actions
I don’t care if it is an excuse or not. Chuck shouldn’t have taken a fight against Rashad Evens. I want to see Chuck fight Shogun or Machida. Evan’s isn’t in his class.
There’s a lot of Chuck haters on this site. I don’t understand why. He was a champ for a long time. He always steps up and fights who is put in front of him without complaining. He has exciting fights. I don’t get why all the hate.

Chuck is still the man, regardless of all the haters. Chuck would never pull a HOgun move
by JV on Apr 22, 2008 9:40 AM EDT reply actions
what hogun move? shogun had an injury as well, that’s why he had to get out of the fight. and now chucky is also injured, and also needed to get out of the fight. What exactly are you referring to? seems to be the same situation to me…
by linx on Apr 22, 2008 10:54 AM EDT up reply actions
Chuck was over here doing loads of publicity and interviews and seemed like he wanted to fight here so people who where saying he didn’t want to fight here can blow me.

wow, now who’s gonna replace chuck?? i would of hope for thiago silva but he’s already fight it ill will. maybe stephon bonnar
by PHIANSOURI on Apr 22, 2008 9:48 AM EDT reply actions
thiago silva??!!! you joking i would ask for my money back if thiago silva fights at the main event at ufc 85 plus bonna still injured
by JBulgin on Apr 22, 2008 6:51 PM EDT up reply actions
they are adding three more fights to the card, meaning the main event will be rashad vs someone. at least they are giving somre more fights but three of them?? i hope this is free on spike still

Henderson moves back to 205 to step in for Chuck
by efisher on Apr 22, 2008 10:08 AM EDT reply actions
Who will replace Chuck now? It better be good! I can’t think of another big name LHW who can fight on this card (all over big names are fighting on other cards). What do you think?
by damaja on Apr 22, 2008 10:10 AM EDT reply actions
How does a torn muscle leave a bruise like that? Yuck.
by Landowner on Apr 22, 2008 10:33 AM EDT reply actions
that card was crap before, now its just another ufc fight night finale. there is no way it is a not pay-per-view, unless there is a tag team match.
by kavedaddy on Apr 22, 2008 11:01 AM EDT reply actions
i dont think chuck would duck rashad evans.
i hate chuck more than anyone on this site, but he would eat rashad evans alive. chuck desperately wants this fight because hes going to have a highlight reel knockout and have people start hyping him to beat rampage again (which will not happen)
by mike on Apr 22, 2008 11:10 AM EDT reply actions
I sure hope Rashad isn’t still the main event, unless they get a big name fighter to come in and beat him down. Rashad should only be able to headline UFN’s, only real events if someone like Liddell is knocking him out. I’m glad Liddell got hurt though, I really didn’t want him getting a title shot for beating the likes of Evans.

ufc almost always delivers! ufc 78 was terrible!
but he says its gonna be good!

maybe they want this to stay ppv so people overseas can watch. i recall hearing that they can’t get spike tv
by ufcmn89 on Apr 22, 2008 12:09 PM EDT reply actions
In Europe we get all the cards on TV but a day later because of the time difference. We don’t have to fork out for the PPV. I don’t get Spike but it’s on Bravo and Setanta Sports.
Setanta Sports are getting an exclusive deal with the UFC starting either June or July.

Irvin is being discussed as the replacement for Chuck. I don’t think that would be a very good fight. Irvin is a good striker, but Rashad will lay on him for three rounds.
by RealDrew on Apr 22, 2008 12:36 PM EDT reply actions
Damn, that hammie looks nasty! My bad for suggesting he might be holding out for a Vegas fight.

I can not believe how many people are in denial. Some of you should get off the inernet sometimes and find a gym. stop your bitching
by dakilla on Apr 22, 2008 12:54 PM EDT reply actions
Dude, I don’t know who you’re calling a Chuck hater, but suggesting that he wanted to fight closer to home has nothing to do with liking him as a fighter.
He’s said it himself on more than one occasion that he prefers to fight on the West Coast. That’s the only reason we thought there was something to it…..it had nothing to do with liking Chuck as a fighter.
Chill out man….there aren’t many people who don’t like Chuck. We all like to see guys get KTFO!
by TonyDrip on Apr 22, 2008 2:14 PM EDT up reply actions
I believe that chuck is injured for sure , but i dont believe thats him in that photo, why wouldnt they just include his face?? The UFC knows there are doubts about his injury so why not make it impossible for us to think otherwise with his face in the pic? The legs look like a white anderson silvas, no gut, small hands . . . I believe hes hurt, but hes not in this picture, sorry.
by ( (Adam G) ) on Apr 22, 2008 2:24 PM EDT reply actions
I LOVE Chuck Liddell, but I agree 100 % that is NOT chuck in the pic. I do believe he is injured, but I also believe that he doesn’t want to fight in England and that has a little to do with it.
by Vera-Liddell-GSP-Edgar on Apr 22, 2008 3:33 PM EDT up reply actions
the fact that some require a picture as proof that Chuck is injured is RIDICULOUS…the fu**er is injured and thats it period. Chuck wouldn’t back out of any fight, he will fihgt anyone anytime anywhere like he always says. And why pull out of a fight with Rashad which will most likely get him the winner of Rampage/Forrest if he wins? Rashad would be the easiest opponent for Chuck to beat when you consider the other options like Machida, Thiago ect. come one…Chuck didnt back out lol thats just dumb
by Chadx23 on Apr 22, 2008 3:21 PM EDT reply actions
its fake , two things lidell is afraid to fight rashad , or he dont wanna fight in england , many times in the past hackleman has said they hate fighting anywhere but vegas , so anyways yea don’t buy it … i don’t that is not what a torn hamstring looks like for one , and two that is not lidell why cant we see his face and thats just stupid , dana white sucks chucks pee pee and will let him do what he wants so shame on chuck and dana
by jon on Apr 22, 2008 6:14 PM EDT reply actions
Just because someone doesn’t like to fight outside their comfort zone doesn’t mean they won’t. Have you ever torn a hamstring? I pulled a muscle in my back and it was bruised for days, hurt like a b*tch too. I do agree with you that Dana has a huge crush on Chuck, I’m a fan of the Iceman, I just wish he’d get away from the single person who will destroy the UFC.

1. so you want to replace liddell with thiago fucking silva are you kidding me?!!?! thiago silva is a very average fighter who should never main event!! you dont have a clue! i dont think thiago silva would get a monkey to watch ufc 85..
2. bonnar is still injured

thiago silva are you kidding me?!?!?!i would want my money back if he was on the main event!! and i promise you i will never watch a main event with thiago’no neck’silva

There was too much speculation before today that chuck wouldn’t fight rashad in england see hacklemens video featured previously on this site…
if dana chuck hack and the ufc wanted to SQUAsh rumors they would have included a pic with chucks face PERIOD.
OH BUT they let KALIb fight with a broken foot!?!?!?!
Until i see a face pic along with this pic i don’t believe it

MMAMANIA , how the heck can u say that he, chuck is clearly injured because i don’t see chuck’s face
and he clearly did not want to fight Rashad in ENgland.
Prove it MMAmania or ufc don’t report rumors and stuff cummm onnn!!!
by GORANDY@YAHOO.COM on Apr 22, 2008 7:44 PM EDT reply actions
why the heck do you need to see his face? come on get over it, looks close enough like Chuck to me. He even admitted to the injury on his site mmajacked*com, makes no sense that he would fake an injury not to fight Rashad, he still has to win one more to fight for the title anyway so what does he gain by not fighting Rashad? Oh yea nothing just a longer wait to a potential title fight

It’s a doctored photo, plus it doesn’t show his face. Chicken legs and the guy looks pretty soft. Definitely not a picture of Chuck.

Who honestly still thinks Chuck’s injury is fake? If it is makeup, then a doctor applied it, because all of the signs of damage match up. Do any search on Hamstring tears and check out the photos. And has Chuck EVER backed out of any fighter?! NO!!!!
by Russ on Apr 26, 2008 4:56 AM EDT reply actions
that does look like a torn hammy as ive done 1 (not as bad judging by that pic) and it also looks like his body so i dont question it. the only thing i question is the stupidity of stretching ur leg up like that when its torn be it for a pic or not . geez

yeah theres alot of haters on this site . chuck is the shit . hes gonna get back on top no doubt . can he beat rampage . im not sure it will be one hell of a fight ill tell you that .thats chuck in the pic look at the Famous gut chuck has . if your a fan you can tell . as for shogun and chuck fight i say he’ll whoop that ass no problem . chuck fell off for a sec but hes back . these past fights made him smarter too . when have you ever seen chuck liddel go for a take down . thats all im saying . bring it on shogun !!!!!!!!!!!!
