Matt Serra vs George St Pierre 2 odds for UFC 83
Here are the latest betting odds for the UFC 83 main even courtesy of BetUS.com:
Favorite: Georges St. Pierre (-500)
Underdog: Matt Serra (+350)
Here's a quick example of possible bet outcomes: If you bet $100 on Serra (at +350) you win $350. If you bet $100 on St. Pierre (at -500) you win $20.
For the sake of comparison, Serra was the heavy underdog (-700) in their first encounter back at UFC 69: "Shootout" in April 2007, which "The Terror" won via shocking technical knockout. Those who took a chance on him were rewarded handsomely.
And not much will change this time around at UFC 83.
For more UFC 83 betting lines -- and to place bets now before the action starts (and the lines tighten up) -- head over to BetUS.com. We're going to be unable to provide our traditional betting column this time around; however, remember that BetUS.com offers a FREE $75 play for those who sign up.
It's free cash, which you can turn into even more free cash with the right bets. At any rate, remember if you are going to bet only play with what you are willing to lose.
Good luck.

Serra and Lutter are good payoffs (risk over reward) The other fights, the favorites will win, and if they lose, you got to risk to much to make too little

Kevin, I have to wonder how well you would perform at your job (whatever it may be) if the 6 yr. old son you speak of was in the hospital. You may be a dead-beat dad and it wouldn’t affect you, but I am going to give you some credit and say you would be distracted, maybe even miss a day of work or two.
Point being, to say he is mentally weak for his dad being in the hospital and cousin dying and it affecting him in even a small way is ridiculous for anyone to say, especially when he is going to be locked in a cage with another highly trained athlete trying to hurt him.
Favre was in his upper 30’s and had a whole team alongside him to support him. You can bet each teammate was a sports pyschologist that weekend, telling him they were gonna give him everything on that field so he could win for his dad. If anything, the comparison between Favre and GSP makes Georges look even stronger for getting in the octogon. (IMO)

Thanks for the benefit of the doubt, my wife and son are my world, and no I wouldn’t go to a 9-5 job if my son was hospitalizes. Could I train 2 hours, visit, train 3 more and visit…and fight for 25 min (max)…yeah I could. Easy for me to say I get, but I competed and was involved in sports all my life, and never used an excuse or missed a game. I played 5 football games casted and screws in my elbow. As far as cousins, I have none close enough to make me miss work, and farve had teammates like GSP has a team of trainers, sparring partners etc. to prepare him for the worst. Not bashing GSP, just stating my opinion as to his mental weakness.

Are you posting in the wrong thread? Who is in the hospital? What does that have to do with betting odds?

everyone reacts to things differently… maybe you would be too bothered by a cousin dying or hurt… but maybe that cousin was like a brother to him… maybe his father being sick affects him more than it would you… he also admitted he took serra lightly… etc etc… they seem like excuses to some people… but who’s to say how someone should react to what… there’s no right or wrong… i know someone that went out partying a week after a close relative died and i know others that were devastated beyond belief 6 months down the line… i think its wrong to make those judgements. people forget that he didn’t want to make all these things public… he was forced into it cause everyone – you, me, the media, everyone – wouldn’t just accept his first reason: serra was the better fighter on the night.
people pushed him into giving a better reason and then bash him for it.

I agree to an extent. heres where I stand, you lose, you shake hands and you go back to training. GSP (i 2 losses) has turned into the new Tim Sylvia. I don’t hear “champions” make excuses, they come back hungry and well trained. To have his sister, his father his friends making all sorts of lame excuses (his age…fighting guys in their 30’s) is where it gets pathetic. If he is so superior, it should be a short fight. If Serra takeds it to the deeper rounds, or god forbid wins, GSP’s questions remain!!

“If you bet $100 on Serra (at +350) you win $350. If you bet $100 on St. Pierre (at -500) you win $20.”
It’s true that Serra is good value for the money but anyone who actually bets 100 bucks on this particular fight needs to get his head checked.

actually if your a new memeber, you would only be betting $25 since you get $75 free…I would do it even though I expect GSP to win….

lol, I know I can, but I’m 30 something, i got 250 on Serra and 250 on lutter
by kevin on Apr 18, 2008 2:56 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I like these bets, one of them will pull off the “upset”
by UFCPreview.com on Apr 18, 2008 5:02 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i,m betting on lutter as well. kevin you might as well have bought scratch offs than betting against gsp no matter what the odds. too much talent. the last fight was 10 to 1. did you bet serra that fight?

Time for all you GSP doubters to put your money where your mouth is.
by Landowner on Apr 18, 2008 2:48 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
gsp has faster hands but serra has heavier hands. serra has better bjj gsp has better wrestling. this fight will come down to who has the weaker chin in my eyes.serra is a very tough opponent for gsp.NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE UNDERDOG.
by jimmy v on Apr 18, 2008 2:56 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
There goes my upset pick. I had Herman loosing in an upset, now I saw the odds and Herman is actually the underdog. i thought he would loose, but I was hoping it would have some value as an upset, but it wont…I might go the other way now and take Herman…. In Close fights like this one, always go with the DOG!!!

the ground game shouldnt be an issue BJ Penn is a better BJJ guy and Better use of his BJJ in MMA than Serra and he couldnt touch GSP, so GSP is ok in that matter.not aplying math here but, i dont think Serra could sub him if GSP took it to the ground, GSP will do to Serra what he did to Matt Hughes the 2nd fight after coming off a loss from that dude, he is just going to outclass him in a very bad way he will make Serra look like a C or D level fighter and have the UFC never ake that stupid mistake of giving random guys title shots…

Hey guys, I’m thinking about signing up, but I have some questions about how it works.
1 If I win a bet. How do I get my winning payout into my hands?
2 If I win, does BetUs hold onto my original $$ that I bet with. Or does it go back on my credit card?
Thanks in advance.

You give them your address and Harry “Pittsburgh Phil” Strauss will hand you a envelope with the money in it at 3 am on the first Saturday of June.

online gambling is awsome, been doing it for 10 years. They give bonuses (you must bet a certain amount of times), and if you win, you make a withdrawal request. They put the original deposit into your credit card and give you options on how to get winnings (put it onto card, or if you win “big” mail a check) I’d recommend this if you win anything substantial that way with the exception of cashing the check there is no deposit to declare. Have fun man, but be responsible!!

Bet the Serra\GSP OVER 1.5 rounds
Serra has NEVER been KO’d, and GSP is going to come out slow….it is going 2 rounds, all day baby
by UFCPreview.com on Apr 18, 2008 4:57 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
what r the odds on that??? thats a good bet-unless gsp gets tagged again-
by kevin on Apr 18, 2008 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
As much as i dislike you (I am a big GSP fan) i agree and think its a good bet that its going past 1.5 rounds.
At least we can agree on something (and that the HW division blows).

Umm, Shonie Carter knocked him the F out. Or maybe that was in a dream world.
by Pat on Apr 18, 2008 5:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
thats your stock answer? Serra has lost 4 times, 3 to top talant and all decisions…and then the back fist do you forget he has 16 wins? not to compare, and flame me if you want, but what is the ufc HW champs record? 16-8 or something?? no one flames him for losing to big names??
by kevin on Apr 18, 2008 6:59 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Sorry Kevin, that was in reply to UFCPreview’s claim that Matt hasn’t been KO’d. That loss has no bearing on this fight IMO.
by Pat on Apr 19, 2008 10:54 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Shonie carter KTFO Matt Serra with a spinning back fist.
I still agree, I feel that is a good bet. I see this one going into the 3rd round, at least past the 1.5 round mark!
by Brandon on Apr 18, 2008 7:07 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Herman is probably the underdog because too many people got wind that he’s got a good chance of losing this fight.
by Toms Bombs on Apr 18, 2008 5:00 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Over 1.5 rounds is -150
I also like McCarthy as the best upset.
Bisping is overated, he will get subbed. Bisping only has kickboxing, he sucks on the ground, if Hammill knew BJJ he would have subbed him 100 times in their fight.

this write-up says serra was -700 in their last match.. that can’t be write i don’t understand it. i thought minus is the favourite?
