Joe Rogan UFC: 'Im not going anywhere, bitches!'

Props: MySpace.com

Quoteworthy:

"There's been a lot of goofy articles written on the internet lately about me missing the UFC card in Montreal this weekend, speculating all sorts of silly reasons why I'm not going to be there, so I figured it would be a good idea if I cleared it up here. The only reason I'm not going to be there is because of a family obligation. I'm certainly not upset at the UFC, and I'm not quitting to start doing commentary for a rival organization. I've also heard some ridiculous shit about me having massive fallout with the UFC president Dana White, which couldn't be further from the truth. Dana is a very good friend of mine, and in the 7 years I've known him we've never even had a single disagreement. He's a controversial dude, and a wild motherfucker, but that's why he's the perfect president for the wildest sport in the world. We met back in 2001 when Zuffa purchased the UFC, and he's the one that convinced me to do commentary after seeing how big a fan I am of the sport. I've seen this sport explode from relative obscurity to one of the most popular sports in the world, and if it weren't for Dana White, and massive balls of Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta this sport wouldn't be anywhere near as popular as it is now. Lorenzo and Frank, the owners of the UFC risked an incredible amount of money, and were DEEP into the red on this investment when the success of the Ultimate Fighter TV show finally launched this sport into the public's awareness, and every fan on the planet owes them a debt of gratitude. They were literally everything this sport needed; they were true fans of the sport with the brains, money and balls to make it popular. On top of that, they're cool as fuck. The UFC has been the greatest job outside of stand up that I've ever had by a long shot, and I look forward to every single event. The entire production crew and everyone associated with the organization are a pleasure to work with, and I love them all. So in closing, I'm not going anywhere, bitches!"

UFC color commentator, Joe Rogan, clears up some "ridiculous" rumors that he was on the outs with Dana White and the organization. Speculation swirled that something was amiss when it was revealed that he would miss UFC 83: "Serra vs. St. Pierre 2" this weekend. That's apparently not the case. Lightweight contender Kenny Florian will fill-in for Rogan alongside Mike Goldberg tomorrow night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Amen! Thank God he isnt going anywhere. He would be a big loss to the UFC.

Its crazy to think how a little internet speculation leads fighters to respond to comments. Its awesome, when people come on the net and clear up rumors truthfully!

by john on Apr 18, 2008 9:26 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You got that shit right John…I guess we can put all the speculation we had yesterday to rest…
Definetly would be a BIG loss, and I have to admit, yesterday I was a little worried when I found out that I wasn’t the only one speculating something wrong..

by Stagger-Lee on Apr 18, 2008 9:31 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, we can be easy now! It is really cool that Joe responds immediately to all the speculation. Joe is known to be really good to his fans and loosing him would have been horrible.

If ne 1 needs to go its Goldy. He brings NOTHING to the table at all. I really cant stand him and there has to be someone better then Goldberg!

However Goldi is a company man, so he isnt going anywhere. Unfortunately!

by john on Apr 18, 2008 9:49 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Goldie’s only use is his stupid questions he is always asking Joe(that and his broadcasting voice)…His questions are dumb but it plays for good commentary to the newer fans..(from a marketing stand-point).
Joe is the know it all, and Goldie is the MMa fan learning(per say)…

by Stagger-Lee on Apr 18, 2008 10:09 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

A good replacement for Goldie would be Mauro Ranallo…I think he does an awesome job calling fights..He gets sooo pumped while commentating..
But Bas and Joe together would be priceless!

by Stagger-Lee on Apr 18, 2008 10:13 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ranallo is awesome and i like quadros too. I used to not like goldy but after a couple of exc shows w/ the pro wrestler goldberg i have a new found respect for him.(ufc goldy). exc goldy cannot seem to muster one interesting or useful bit of information while commenting and obviously annoys quadros and ranallo. Hes also a huge dick to the fighters. Joe is an awesome commentator and it would have been really bad if he left(especially if he went to exc).

by alexguy on Apr 18, 2008 10:31 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I have no problem with Quadros nor Renallo. They would both be a huge improvement over Goldberg. I have to agree that Bas and Rogan would be the greatest combo EVER!

by john on Apr 18, 2008 12:17 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Bas are you kidding me, He makes it all look so Budget, I am an HD NEt Subscriber and him and Kenny Rice got to go.

I think the team of Rogan and Goldie is by far the way to go. If it ain’t broke then leave it the hell alone.

It couldbe alot worse did anybody catch Lama Yanna tournament, that was BRUTAL. even worse that any elitexc, strikeforce IFL show combined and they are pretty cheezed up as far as production go.

Like I say, leave it alone if it isn’t broken.

Is Ronallo The ex-pride guy? The one cro-cop punked?

by Brandon on Apr 18, 2008 6:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

After watching exc w/goldberg i have a new found respect for goldy. I think that Joe is amongst the best mma commentators out there along with ronallo and rutten and it would have definetely been a huge hit to the ufc if he was leaving.

by alexguy on Apr 18, 2008 10:37 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I miss Randy Couture’s commentating =*(

by O damn he got caught on Jun 10, 2008 1:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Great to hear. UFC events are better for having Rogan be a part of them.

by JTD on Apr 18, 2008 9:31 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah it is cool that Joe responded right away! He loves the fans, and is glad to be a part of MMa.
With all speculation being put to rest by Joe himself,I will now smoke a bong in Joe Rogans name.

by Stagger-Lee on Apr 18, 2008 9:36 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

UFC won’t be the same without Joe.

by Oleg on Apr 18, 2008 9:44 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You’re absolutely right. I’ve always liked him.

My girlfriend hated him at first. Now, she says she’s, “glad he’s on our side!”

by rhv on Apr 18, 2008 11:37 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Thanks Joe for clearing that up. He really knows his knowledge in MMA. Not like Bill Goldberg in EliteXC. That guys doesnt know shit from shit and I think hes slow, anyway Im glas that UFC has Rogan and taht hes not going anywhere bitches, lol.

Joe Rogan is AWESOME!!!!

I watch UFC with a lot of first-time UFC watchers, and they always ask what is happening on the ground. When the fighters are standing up they can figure it out for themselves, but on the ground they always ask questions. They ask too many to answer fully, so I answe half of them and Joe Rogan always answers the other half!!!

Joe Rogan is the best commentator… period.

I love Goldie, the man is enthusiastic as hell and is funny to laugh at. UFC have got the best commentating partnership in sports today.

by UFC85!!!!! on Apr 18, 2008 10:11 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Rogan looks like Joker in the first Batman movie in this picture, minus the make up of course!

I love having him commentating, the partnership between him & Goldberg is great, over excitement and knowledge playing off each other.

by UKmmaBOY on Apr 18, 2008 10:11 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

that’s awesome news. they can get rid of goldberg though

by dkortez on Apr 18, 2008 10:17 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I’m not a huge fan of his, although I know it will never happen I liked when Couture was the commentator.

I’m kind of indifferent to Joe, I am glad he’s not going. I wonder if the Fertitas and Dana enjoyed that verbal BJ.

by Shadyone33 on Apr 18, 2008 10:22 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

has Rogan ever NOT told it like it is? its hilarious how those little “what ifs” snowball into rumors. HAHA!!

by kama kaze on Apr 18, 2008 10:25 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I like how Joe fit a “DEEP” in there.

by R-Dizzle on Apr 18, 2008 10:25 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

the fertitas had that arm DEEP in the red. I can’t BELIEVE he got out of that.

by Clayton on Apr 18, 2008 10:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Good he’s a cool guy.

BTW does anyone else think Mir is doing a great job on WEC? His technical observations are great. I would like to see him teamed up with Rogan. Joe could to the color commentary and Mir could field the technical stuff.

by Landowner on Apr 18, 2008 10:26 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I have to completely agree with you man. Mir every time I hear him comentating on the WEC he does a very very good job. I learn new things every time I watch an event. I would love to just sit in on a Frank Mir BJJ class and listen to the man talk… okay thats getting into man crush teritory lol

I know it would never happen but I think a 3 team dream team for comentating would be Mir, Rogan & Bas!

by Steven on Apr 18, 2008 10:34 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed. Mir is great. He calls sub finishes about 30 seconds before they happen and can also tell way in advance if a guy is going to escape because the hold isn’t applied right.

by PW on Apr 18, 2008 10:59 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Mir does do an awesome job and since Couture won’t be joining any broadcasts, he should fill in on a few. We could avoid the only problem I have with his announcing in the UFC, his crush on Urijah Faber.

by PJJ on Apr 18, 2008 1:52 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yea, I think Mir does a good job.

Bill Goldberg is the worst. He’s so bad that it’s funny.

Wow, what a high kick, gentlemen!

by R-Dizzle on Apr 18, 2008 10:39 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Goldberg is a complete tool. If he was any good with a microphone he would still be a pro wrestler. Hey B-Gold, maybe try doing a little research so you know what the hell you’re watching and attempting to talk about instead being all, “Wow, he punched that guy right in the face! Did you guys see that?”

by PW on Apr 18, 2008 11:21 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I hate Joe Rogan, hes a cocky bastard. Only joking, hes a good comentator, just wish him and Dana didnt swear as much. They are good for the business but they are the leading figures in terms of having contact with spectators. I just dont think they act as professionals when outside and sometimes even inside the business. They should know they r always in the public eye so when making a statement like that he really should pick and choose his words more carefully.

by JJ on Apr 18, 2008 10:43 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You’re fuckin right… Profane language does not belong in a sport where two guys are locked in a cage trying to kill each other.

by Arnold on Apr 18, 2008 3:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I read on the internet that Rogan stages monkeys vs. midgets death battles in his basement. Since it was on the internet it must be true.

by PW on Apr 18, 2008 11:00 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Dude, I saw him do it! It’s true!!!!!! Monkey’s win all the time… poor midgets….

by rhv on Apr 18, 2008 11:36 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

WOW, I even get commentator predictions right. I told all you yesterday that Rogan wasn’t going anywhere… by the way Good morning all, one more day!!!!

I would really like to see Eddie Bravo replace Mike G. I think him and Joe are good friends and they’re both knowledgable. I guess having one guy who knows nothing is a good thing in broadcasting? I have no idea…

by Paul on Apr 18, 2008 12:17 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I just watched Randy Couture vs Josh Barnett from UFC 36, and Eddie Bravo was the color commentator next to Mike Goldberg at that time (actually there was a third guy too, not sure who it was). Once the action heated up, Goldberg could hardly get a word in edgewise (let alone the unnecessary third guy) because Bravo wouldn’t shut up. He was very annoying. Knowledgeable doesn’t necessarily equal listenable. Goldberg and Rogan have excellent chemistry, there is no reason to mess it up.

by Adam on Sep 5, 2009 1:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dana White, Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta… I love those guys for making my favourite sport so much better.

Joe Rogan is also the man, no one does the job better.

by JonnyBoy on Apr 18, 2008 1:09 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Not for a second did I think Rogan would leave the UFC. Never, not once. lol As he said, that would be the greatest job in the world. To get paid, and have awesome seats to every UFC event. Who in thier right mind would want to give that up?

by Toms Bombs on Apr 18, 2008 1:09 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I didn’t think Rogan was going anywhere but it is good to see it confirmed. I have thought all along that the only reason Rogan isn’t going to this PPV is he couldn’t get his weed across the border.

by PJJ on Apr 18, 2008 1:58 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Beleive me he wouldn’t have a problem getting it in Montreal, or anyware in Canada for that matter.

by ro-J on Apr 18, 2008 3:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nuthin but props to you Joe. He is a great commentator, very knowledgable, funny but stays within bounds while on the mic.

by Tobias808 on Apr 18, 2008 3:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah I think Joe is awesome. I think it would be even better if it was Joe, and Bas though…

by ognitinoc on Apr 18, 2008 4:22 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i love rogan. goldie is alittle to biased and uninformed alot. i thought mauro was alittle to biased to for my taste also. bas would be excellent but the all time best was randy. i think he still could be once he finally retires and maybee works things out w/the ufc. he’ll have to someday.

by b.w. on Apr 18, 2008 6:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Joe Rogan is a human hype machine…All he does is hype…w/c is good for the match-ups of course, hehe!!

by Syd on Apr 19, 2008 8:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Now I’m convinced that Joe Rogan wrote all these comments himself. Rogan is alright, not great in any way. His standup speaks for itself..never heard it? Exactly.

All this love for a 5’5" gino, haha, classic Rogan!

Joe Rogan and Mike are both good. They fit well together.

It would be weird knowing either one of them won’t return to the UFC.

by Jackanapes on May 4, 2008 12:16 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Hey rogan i wanted to ask a question about this fight. I would lick to know how you guys score because i saw this fight on 9-5-08. I was listening to your commentary and i was seeing something different. Liddell controlled the fight he looked none worse for the ware. Jar dine took a beating and the only thing he could do was kick and liddell kept fighting. You guys talked as if jardine was doing something. I dont give a rats ass what the judges said he didn’t do a damn thing to liddell?

Please don’t let Joe go anywhere. I dread he’d go back to “Fear Factor.” He’s really weak on that show.

On the other hand, he’s the man on UFC/WEC bouts. His commentary is right on and he’s perfect for the spot. He should be announcing it all alone. That dweeb he co-hosts with is a soft, useless, sensationalist.

As for the refs and their quick stoppages, I feel Joe’s pain. Unfortunately, it seems the UFC refs are cut of the same breed as the Boxing ones. They allow the hollering and cheering fans to dictate their actions. In other words, they’re so busy concerned about their jobs and the fans’ happiness, they cost many exciting and strategic bouts, alternative decisions (wins).

by Frank Talk on Dec 11, 2008 1:37 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Joe is a wannabe…. He is nothing more than an expert at spotting “leg kicks”. Now tell me… who can’t spot a leg kick??? The guy is a pot-smolin’ dork. He looks intense, that’s it. What does he really know about MMA other than what he has seen? The fans know as much as he does. He get a woody when a leg kick happens, even if no contact is made… an attempt gets his goose.

Get someone else who doesn’t spaz when someone kicks another guys leg for a change.
