I want the UFC to come to my home town(Toronto) sooo bad..
I go to the Raptors games alot, and I have been to Leafs games aswell, and the ACC is always jumping. If the UFC came here the place would go crazy!
by Stagger-Lee on Apr 18, 2008 10:56 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
ACC is a joke for Leaf games, Raptor crowds are average – it’s all suits. Put the UFC here, and I agree, it would be madness. You probably wouldn’t go to a Raptor or Leaf game again.
by Derrick Fox on Apr 18, 2008 11:45 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Raptor crowds are average???You must be high.
And I dont mean Nick Diaz high, More like Nick Nolte high…I go to ALOT of Raptor games and the ACC is always shaking…I dont go to much leaf games, but even though they suck, the fans seem to have to place going nuts..The Raptors are in the Top10 for sell-outs..
I do agree with one thing..like you said, if the UFC came here it would be “madness”..
But I would still go see my Rap’s…

Afaik MMA is still not sanctioned in Ontario, write to your MPP and we may see events in Ontario in the future.

New York, “early next year”???
Damn it is taking Dana a long time to crack New York.

I don’t think MMA is sanctioned in New York state yet. Dana would love to have events at NYC but it’s not entirely up to him.

Can’t watch these at work but I do know I have littel interest in watching Jackson Liddell 3. What would be the point?
by Clayton on Apr 18, 2008 11:02 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I think Chuck / Rampage 3 would be different. I think Chuck had dominated for so long that he didn’t go in there with his full potential, and got caught. I don’t think Rampage is as dominant as people think he is.
by JV on Apr 18, 2008 11:24 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, that makes sense. I’d still like to see both fighters go against some other competition first, and then see where they stand.

lol, rampage beat chuck like a red headed step child in pride. chuck didn’t lose by submission,KO, or TKO, he lost b/c he threw in the towel. in my mind, that’s a cardinal sin in fighting, u never quit just b/c ur getting beat up a little bit. he quit b/c he absolutely wanted no more of rampage jackson, he’d had all he could take, and trust me, rampage had plenty more left to dish out. chuck CAN’T beat rampage
by duece 4 on Apr 18, 2008 12:05 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I wouldn’t say he CAN’T beat rampage (Frye vs Goodridge 3, anyone?).
However, If Jardine beats Silva he is definitely more deserving of a shot. So is Machida. If Chuck beats Rashad he is the #3 contender imo
by yohnstoppable on Apr 18, 2008 1:21 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
chuck threw in the towel at himself huh? what do you think happened? he walked to the corner, got a towel and threw it in? his corner threw in the towel because chuck was lost. he never quit. what do you think he is canadian? he didnt tap out from strikes like that Frenchie overrated poster boy you all love

You know Liddell and Rampage only fought ONCE in Pride, cuz that sencond fight lasting a little over a minute ain’t sh*t!
by Lycan on Apr 18, 2008 11:18 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
a fight is a fight… if chuck knocks someone out with one punch you consider it to be a fight… cause that’s what chuck does… but when he gets ktfo its not a fight? rampage completely whooped him in pride… which i think would have been more emphatic in a cage… as when i held chuck up and took him down he could use the cage and elbows… and he beat him down in the standup too… second fight he knocked him out clean… how is that not a fight? rampage has the tools to beat chuck 9/10 times… cause he can take punishment… he throws bombs too… he’s stronger than chuck and can actually physically overpower him… he’s a better standup fighter than chuck technically and he can take a punch… they threw wrestlers and jui-jitsu guys at chuck for years… but the key to beating chuck is to out-strike him and be able to take a punch… that’s how rampage beat him both times and its why jardine beat him… he out-struck him… even when randy beat him he out-struck him…
rampage is the sh*t and nobody except machida has a chance of taking the belt off him… with ufc rules i think he’d beat shogun and wandy too…

Nobody wants to see chuck get dominated again give it up. It’s the ufcs dream to have chuck as their poster boy forever and it aint happening Suddenly he wins against Wandi(and we know how great the pride fighters have doen)and he’s invincible again. Let’s get past Rashad Evans who trains with Jardine who beat chuck first.

NOBODY is beating Rampage anytime soon! – but shogun or wandy fights make sense.
by kama kaze on Apr 18, 2008 12:01 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Kama kaze: I couldn’t agree more! Too many fighters like Jardine and Machida have earned there shot, If Chuck gets the winner of Forrest/Rampage (which will be Rampage), I will be really pissed off!
UFC needs to stop awarding title shots to the fighter that brings in the most money and start giving there title shots to the fighters that have earned them, if not the UFC will never be a real sport.
Take the NBA for Example: Last years Finals was a match up that nobody watched: Spurs vs. Cavs. The league knew that nobody watches the spurs (ratings took a big hit), but they let the chips fall where they may and thats the NBA finals that we got to see.
by john on Apr 18, 2008 12:12 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
NBA would have LA vs Bos every year if it was all about money. The western conf is crazy this year by the way! I like the DREAM Grand Prix idea by the way.
Machida and Jardine certainly did earn their shot at getting raped and ravaged. Page will go through the motions of destroying these 2 if he needs to, no doubt they deserve it, they’re next in line.
Another thing is that even though Shogun and Wandy are both coming off losses, does it really matter? They already KO’d Rampage and that should mean something in regards to contendership especially since Rampage is champ. No sense having the guys that already beat him waiting to prove themselves ready for a guy they already beat.

LOL.. i know.. grammar nightmare. (yes. english is my first language)
by kama kaze on Apr 18, 2008 1:13 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Kama kaze: U bring up a great point about how Shogun and Wanderlie should not have to earn a title shot as much as the rest of the contenders
9while Rampage is champ). They DESTROYED Rampage (1 of mt favorite fighters)…it was real ugly, they should not need all these wins to fight someone who they destroyed already. These fights should have been booked immediately. Rampage is dying to fight them again, they want to fight Rampage again, but dumb ass Dana is having Shogun and Rampage wasting their time fighting Forrest Gump.
I dont get it!
by john on Apr 18, 2008 1:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
waste of time? Forrest put shogun to sleep RNC style, how was that a waste of time.
I know he’s not the strongest or most technical fighter but don’t sleep on the gump.
by triangle choke on Apr 18, 2008 2:36 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rampage will show you all why throwing no defense/no Ko power having Forrest in a title fight against the champ (in the best division in the UFC) who happens to have one of the best chins in the game and an over abundance of KO power in either hand….Is a WASTE OF TIME!!!
I am a huge fan of Forrest, but the UFC is causing me to start hating him by giving him a title shot over so many more deserving fighters who have truely paid their dues.
Forrest has 1 big, but controversial win, in his entire career…..I guess that gets you a title shot in the UFC these days, what a shame!
by john on Apr 18, 2008 2:42 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
not that we have a choice, but who do you think is more deserving of title shot?
- avenge losses, or (ie: wandy, chonan)
- current top contenders (ie: fitch, machida, okami)
by kama kaze on Apr 18, 2008 3:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Its hard to say. If Dana really wanted to find out who was more deserving he would have matched up the current contenders vs avenge losses and we would have some clarity in the division. But putting together fights like Machida vs. Ortiz, only cloud things up even more and is a loose/loose situation for Machida. The more he clouds up the title picture, the more easily he will be able to justify giving Liddell a 3rd shot at Rampage.
The only good match up booked at Lightheavyweight is Wanderlei (avenge loss) vs. Jardine (top contender)….Winner should get the next crack at Rampage.
I am a big Liddell fan, but Dana’s undying love for Chucky-poo is making me really start to hate him. I will sadly have to root for Rashad so that Chuck doesnt get another shot at Rampage! Stuff like this is what makes people hate on Dana. he needs to stop trying to influence championships and start basing them on merit.
Like you said, if the NBA operated like Dana we would be seeing Lakers vs. Celtics in the championship every year.

The second fight is good fodder for highlight reels, but it isn’t a realistic gauge of Rampage’s dominance. Everyone knows both of these guys have knock out power.

Chuck won’t beat Rampage. He connected plenty of times against Wandy and couldn’t get the KO, what makes you think he’ll do it to the man with the biggest head in the UFC? lol Rampage will smash everyone!
by Toms Bombs on Apr 18, 2008 1:00 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I dont see Chuck KOing Rampage ever…if he ever beat Rampage it would be by descision or possibly TKO if Rampage got exhausted…just like the way Rampage TKO’d Chuck the first time when Chuck was gassed out…Chuck will never do to Rampage what Rampage did to Chuck in the 2nd fight in my opinion…and I’m a HUGE Chuck fan by the way. I would like to see them fight agian, but Chuck would probably lose and that would just make him look bad. Let Chuck fight Rashad, and if he wins, give him Jardine, if he can get passed Wanderlei…basically I’m saying I would like to see Chuck win 2 more times before gettign a crack at Rampage if Rampage gets passed Forrest, or should I say when??? lol

Great interview! I like Dana a lot more when he’s talking about the UFC and the sport’s future, rather than ragging on ProElite or Tito Ortiz. He’s a bit of an asshole, and arrogant as hell. But he’s a visionary. UFC is just gonna keep on growing.

I don’t care to see Rampage v Liddell 3. If rampage beats chuck again, he should have done just that. If chuck wins, everyone would call it an upset and a fluke.

OMG I am so happy that guy on the score was pushing Calgary hard! A show here in Calgary would be amazing cause I know a ton of people would make the 3 hour drive from Edmonton to see it and quite a few would make the 10 hour drive from Vancouver to see it.
The dome holds 22,500 (give or take) and as the guy said it would sell out as fast as Montreal did. Plus they would get to experiance the C of Red! If that ever happens I think I just might die of a heartattack.
DAvlat his comments on Fedor I think went more so to the casual fan because most of them have no idea even who Fedor is. Like Dana said put him in a line up and most casual fans would have no idea who he was! Hardcore fans would be extatic though and he knows it.

1. The UFC needs to work with Casino Rama and Fallsview Management Corp to push this through.
2. The Ontario Gov’t needs to wake up see the cash the UFC WILL bring in to Ontario.
3. If the Government is worried about allowing MMA in for liability issues, put the liability on the UFC, clubs and promoters. Combat sports needs regulation and by allowing MMA in Ontario will weed out all of the clubs that are running questionable operations and force them to comply with standards and best practice and the UFC has those.

I was hoping for a close up on that rack. Looked nice.
John, great assist to Mania on this interview. It was definitely an interesting listen. It is an interview like this that makes me wonder why people hate Dana so much. Yeah, he showed what a gigantic ego he has (it’s huge) but the things he was saying were not without merit. And it is always apparent how much he loves the sport and invests himself into it.
This is the first time I have heard White comment at length (outside of the short little “That guy Shaw, Cuban, etc. is an f’n joke” quotes) about other promoters and hit the nail on the head. They are coming in trying to make a fast buck without the structure that the UFC provides in its business efforts.

nah. its just a marketing ploy of dana. whomever chuck figths. the ppv are great!! but he would be beaten by rampange once again.chuck stared down with rampage in part 2 and ended up looking at the ref. he’s scared of rampage. the reason they wanna do it again is that they wanna increase the ppv of the ufc(which is down in the 1st quarter compared to 06 and 07) and if chuck wins then ppv of the ufc would skyrocket.but thats kinda unfair jardine beat chuck.the plan is they wanna hike the value of the company and then sell it.. look at the timing.they went to forbes to market the whole thing…Dana: " i think were just scratching the surface of this sport" !!! hahaha sound like a salesman enticing investors

Who wants to see this again? I would like to see Rampage fight someone else instead of a 40 year old guy he knocked out even before I got my beer cracked open. Look I got a lot of respect for Chuck, but he was clearly out matched. It’s not like they fought all 5 rounds. It was a pretty definitive KO. The UFC needs to start putting some of these “octagon legend” fighters out to pasture (Chuck, Ortiz, Jardine, BJ Penn) because it’s getting a little stale. It’s like watching Hogan wrestle Macho Man for the 50th time. Dana is a douche.
