Dan Henderson next fight ...

hendo... is anyone's guess at this point. In fact, the former Pride FC dual champion doesn't even know what weight class he's slated to compete in next, according to the Ottawa Sun:

"I have no idea who I'm fighting next, or when, or where. I don't even know what weight class. I'm going to try to pin them down to get some answers on that this weekend."

That's probably his best bet, considering his next foe is more than likely fighting this weekend at UFC 83: "Serra vs. St. Pierre 2" at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec.

There are six middleweight match ups booked for the pay-per-view (PPV) event, including the showdown between Rich Franklin and Travis Lutter.

Either Franklin or Lutter would be a nice next fight for Henderson. What do you think, Joe Silva?

Either Franklin or Luter would be an awesome fight. And while I know Hendo’s way above him at this point, I would kinda love to see Henderson toss Bisping around the cage.

by Clayton on Apr 18, 2008 10:58 AM EDT reply actions

lutter will fair at all with henderson…he oucldnt out grappl matt linland..and i know henderson is a much better grappler than linland. lol bisping would die againt henderson…hands down,.. i say test bisping give him mcdonald or tanner.

Yeah I was going to say that I hope Dan gets Lutter as he matches up better with Lutter than Franklin. Dan really needs a win. I know he has fought two of the best but the pressure is on nonetheless.

O ya, bisping fights too. saturday is gonna answer a lot of questions about who gets a beating from silva next

Hendo vs Lyoto Machida (after he beats Tito)

by newfie on Apr 18, 2008 11:17 AM EDT reply actions

hendo is coming off two losses, it would be terrible for machida if he comes out victorious agains tito (which he will). they need to give machida a title shot if he beats tito.

by linx on Apr 18, 2008 12:54 PM EDT up reply actions

true…i think machida is going to own tito

I’ve been a HUGE Hendo fan since he was in Pride. In the back of my mind I want to see him pull a Huerta-esque 2008 and see him fight on every card! But hey we all know that’s not going to happen. But throw Bisping to him! I HATE Bisping! I would absolutely love to see Hendo roll that loud mouth all the way back to the UK!!

by Big Jake on Apr 18, 2008 11:19 AM EDT reply actions

Hendo is not going ot be fighting guys like Lutter and Bisping! The only fight that makes sense for Henderson at middleweight is against Rich Frabklin. That is a fight most fans have been waiting to see for years.

If he doesn’t face Franklin, I would love to see him go back up to 205 lbs and face wanderlei in a rubber match, to settle that saga once and for all!

or

Henderson vs. Liddell would be very interesting. 2 guys that love to Bang and throw Bombs with sturdy chins….That would be a very entertaining fight.

by john on Apr 18, 2008 12:06 PM EDT up reply actions

I like the Hendo / Wanderlei idea – that could happen at 185 or 205, but I think 185 would more interesting. It would either set up Wanderlei/Spida or a rematch for Hendo.

by TonyDrip on Apr 18, 2008 12:12 PM EDT up reply actions

The biggest fights for Hendo right now would be either against Franklin at 185, or Hendo/Wanderlei at 205(though like you said, that could happen at 205 or 185).

by Jase on Apr 18, 2008 3:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Liddell V Hendo would be great. Hendo shouldnt be fighting Lutter or Bisping, they are nowhere near his level.

by UKmmaBOY on Apr 18, 2008 12:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Henderson needs to stay at 185 where he can rack up a few wins. I don’t think he’s built for 205.

by JV on Apr 18, 2008 1:23 PM EDT up reply actions

he thinks he’s built for 205… he feels more comfortable at that weight… and apparently he usually looks slow and lethargic at 185… don’t know what it is… but he says he doesn’t really feel any stronger at 185 compared to 205… there’s not much for him at 185 either… once he beats franklin then what? at least at 205 there are a lot of great matchups… unless he wants another shot at the spider… but the pic of him with his mouth wide open being choked out with just one arm locked in was a bit paneful for a hendo fan to watch… don’t want him to get another beat down…

by haemophiliac on Apr 18, 2008 1:38 PM EDT up reply actions

painful!!! i can’t spell!!!

by haemophiliac on Apr 18, 2008 1:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Haemophiliac: I think you may be right. I will agree that for some reason Hendo doesnt look as good fighting at 185 lbs, then when he does fighting at 205 lbs. It makes no sense and I cant explain it either.

Tony/Drip: Having wanderlei vs. Hendo at 185lbs is a great idea because it could set up a big middleweight fight between wanderlei and Anderson.

I would never complain against Liddell vs. Hendo! But as for Lutter and Bisping, Hendo has to big of a name to waste his time fighting dudes like that. Keep in mind he is like 37 years old. He wont waste his time fighting guys without big names.

The only thing bad I can say about Henderson is it seems like he fights up or down to the level of his opponents competition. You dont see the same NASTY henderson when he is fighting a B-level fighter, but when he is facing a star he usually brings it. With that said, at his age and his high stature it makes no sense for him to fight B-level guys! Therefore Henderson vs. Lutter o r Bisping will never happen!

by john on Apr 18, 2008 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Agree completely.

by Toms Bombs on Apr 18, 2008 1:52 PM EDT up reply actions

I know they’re not going to put him against Lutter or Bisping, but I would just love to see Hendo stomp the crap out of that loud mouth Bisping

Kevin, not only are you a fool for making fun of a guy who is a world class athlete, saying how hes weak and cry me a river with his problems. now your also making fun of his clothes damn!!! are you that jealous of ppl being succesful sorry you hate your life and havent accomplished much, oh and by the way that suit is probably worth more than your car….

Got a kick out of this response yesterday, as a matter of fact Hector, I drive an LS430, thats lexus (just in case you didn’t know). It’s paid off to boot!! As far as GSP, I’d kill for his talent, and agree that world class athletes should dress and conduct themselves with class, so buy 2 or 3 nice suits. He’s been wearing the same one for YEARS!! Go drop 10k and look good all the time, not in the samt suit!!

by kevin on Apr 18, 2008 11:20 AM EDT reply actions

Woah, man. You need to write “Hector” on soem bricks and throw those fuckers into a river so you can move the hell on.

by Clayton on Apr 18, 2008 11:41 AM EDT up reply actions

lol, no I’m not as “weak” as GSP, close but not quite

toyota cars are actually real reliable.. i used to have a toyota coupe and now have a lexus and they never break down. I had a honda and it broke down on me so sold it.

by markg on Apr 18, 2008 10:25 PM EDT up reply actions

I beg to differ about Hondas…. I have had an 2003 Acura RL for some time now and I have never had a problem with it. Only work I ever had to put into that car was break pads and maintanance, like oil change and lil stuff like that. Very sturdy and reliable car.

Its funny that this coversation is about Honda and Toyata, I actually have both. I still have my first car EVER, which was a 96 toyota Avalon. Grant it, I have had to put some money into the Toyota over the years but it is actually a great car. Sometimes, ai even like the way it rides better than my Acura which is much newer and the top of the line Acura. The toyota Avolon is a really sturdy car.

I can honestly say no complaints at all about Honda and Toyota!

Love the lead in to the article. At first I thought awesome I was wondering who dan would fight next, then…. is anyone’s guess. My dreams were crushed. Damnit Mania!

by James S on Apr 18, 2008 11:22 AM EDT reply actions

I would have to give Henderson the loser of the Franklin-Henderson fight. Maybe give Cote or Leben the winner? I hate to see Franklin make it back to title contention so quickly, but he will always be a top 3 middleweight. I’d like to see how the other MW fights pan out this weekend first before putting pieces together.

Way to post a “no story”,

Hey Mania,

Did you just need a story or what?

You can come up with something better than this.

by IhitU.uHITfloor on Apr 18, 2008 11:40 AM EDT reply actions

Franklin, Lutter, Okami, then Spider rematch!! first 3 – no problem. spider – big problem!!

by kama kaze on Apr 18, 2008 11:43 AM EDT reply actions

Pretty interesting that there are a definite #1 (Silva- obviously) and #2 (Franklin) at MW. Franklin beats whoever he faces…but Silva. And Silvas beats, well, everyone. So who’s going to break into that Top 2? Henderson? Henderson-Franklin would be a great fight, but I’m not sure it would change the MW landscape. Lutter? We’ll see tomorrow night, but I don’t think so. Okami? Already lost to Franklin. Cote? Maybe. Leben? Like the guy, but he would get worn out by Franklin or Silva (again). And Bisping is not even in that picture yet. So, it ought to be Henderson vs. the winner of the Franklin-Lutter, I suppose. I keep waiting for a real threat to Silva’s reign to emerge. Wishful thinking? Not that I have anything against Silva, I love to watch him fight, I’d just really like to see him in a tough match.

by SeeRed on Apr 18, 2008 12:11 PM EDT reply actions

I want bisping vs cote!

by alex on Apr 18, 2008 12:13 PM EDT reply actions

Not such as big of a fan of Hendo after the Silva fight – there’s just something about the ‘face over the mouth’ breathing technique that I found distasteful. How about seeing Hendo Vs Sobral!!

by Roadwar on Apr 18, 2008 12:56 PM EDT reply actions

Shogun vs Hendo anyone?

by Pat on Apr 18, 2008 12:56 PM EDT reply actions

hey, I like that idea very much…

by linx on Apr 18, 2008 2:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Shogun vs. hendo would be amazing. Also Shogun has been wanting to fight Hendo since he beat wanderlei last febuary. He stated it in a million different interviews…. Dana needs to put this together!

by john on Apr 18, 2008 2:37 PM EDT up reply actions

amen! I’m actually getting excited for a match that is not even rumored LOL.

by linx on Apr 18, 2008 2:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Marvin Eastman would be a good fight for Henderson.

by JV on Apr 18, 2008 1:17 PM EDT reply actions

Does the UFC really want to see Henderson with 3 losses in a row? How do you market him after that? But if you give him a can and somehow he loses, he’s done…

by Sporadic on Apr 18, 2008 1:36 PM EDT reply actions

I will like it a lot if Nate Quarry won, and they said hey Nate, you get to fight the leader of your old team. Dan Henderson.

That would be so funny.

I would like to see Bisping vs. Henderson, but ha we all know that will never ever ever happen.

If Henderson stays at 185, Henderson vs. Leben/Quarry/Starnes/Okami

If Henderson goes up to 205, Wanderlei Silva.

by "Mr. NC-17" on Apr 18, 2008 1:54 PM EDT reply actions

give Jason Macdonald a shot against Hendo if he beats Doerkson!

by NEWFIE-MMA-FAN on Apr 18, 2008 2:49 PM EDT reply actions

hendo would ko franklin. haha

by kAiNOA PilAGO on Apr 18, 2008 2:50 PM EDT reply actions

hardly – he would wrestle him down and put his hands on his face trying to cut him with his gloves – then in the second round Franklin would choke him out

by Roadwar on Apr 18, 2008 3:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Shogun vs Hendo makes alot of sense.

by Nokimono on Apr 18, 2008 3:19 PM EDT reply actions

I say they give Dan a easy touch he has been in with Rampage and then Anderson Silva those are two really difficult matches. I would say give me a B level fighter in his next fight let him get a win in the UFC and then put him in with a top ten guy after that.

by Tim on Apr 18, 2008 5:10 PM EDT reply actions

I would love to see him fight Franklin

by Haze on Apr 18, 2008 10:25 PM EDT reply actions

shogun, franklin, jardine, bisping, Okami, leben. all good matchups. The real question should be who does the spida face next. He would destroy okami 1st round if okami engages and doesn’t back up for 15 mins, and that fight isn’t very attractive.

by markg on Apr 18, 2008 10:30 PM EDT reply actions

You know henderson was closer to beating Rampage than he was to beating Anderson. To me the only thing that makes sense to me is for Anderson to fight Rampage at 205. That fight could end a lot like the Anderson/Hendo fight did, but then again you can’t count Rampage out of any fight. The Spider has already cleaned up the MW division and to me the only fight that would make sense left in the MW division would be Lutter because he was closer to beating him than anyone else that has fought him in the UFC.

by jimmy_dean on Apr 19, 2008 7:28 AM EDT reply actions

they will not have hendo lose three in a row, they will give him a can in his next fight, i am curious if he stays at 185 or goes up to 205.
