UFC 83 press conference today

The UFC will today make the final pre-fight press conference for UFC 83: "Serra vs. St. Pierre 2" available to watch online via streaming video at 12 p.m. ET.
To check it out click here when it's close to showtime to load the video player.
UFC President Dana White, as usual, will emcee the event to further promote the historic foray of the promotion into Canada (sike ... he's apparently "deathly ill"). Craig Borsari, UFC Senior Vice President of Operations and Production, will run the event. He will be joined by UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Serra and interim division titleholder, Georges St. Pierre.
In addition, Rich Franklin, Travis Lutter, Charles McCarthy and Michael Bisping are also expected to participate and respond to media questions about their looming fights this weekend.
UFC 83 will take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, this Saturday, April 19. MMAmania.com will provide total coverage of the pay-per-view (PPV) event, including round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the main card action that begins at 10 p.m. ET.

Lol…Bisping and Tupperware are both hot-headed, I agree…The stare down will be hilarious

Let me guess, GSP will be wearing that same old suit. For a guy who is very good looking and charasmatic, even my wife (who is the biggest GSP fan) agrees that he could afford more than one suit, and that old pin stripe one he wears all the time isn’t even that nice. He actually can use them too!! I wear a suit maybe 1 or 2 times a year, and the quality of my suits are better than that!!

Stop caring about how good looking you think dudes are. This is MMa chat.

You are probably one of the very few people who takes that much notice of what suit he is wearing.

I actually like the fact that GSP tries to conduct himself in such a profesisonal manner. Its ggood for the growth of the sport and trying to help shake the image of the mma haters who think its basically human cockfighting. Think about it, the NBA 1 of the best established professional sports orginazation in the World, even implemented a dress code to its athletes to help the image of the company, so GSP dressing in suits and conducting himsel professionaly can only be good for the sport.
Its nothing to make fun of thats for sure. I dont think it makes him less of a fighter or a man either. Hopefully Dana makes an unexpected announcement at the press conference today to spice of the BLogs, but I wouldnt hold my breath. the last BIG Announcement was his sponsorship deal with bud light…Not exactly what the fans expected.

I couldn’t agree more John, I like seeing guys (more so women) dress nicely and professional. I don’t see NBA guys (making way more $$ I know) wearing the same suit in every interview. If yor gonna look and dress nice, go drop 10k on a couple nice suits, a selection you know

Who even watches this for the fights anymore? I’m excited to see GSP’s spring clothing line, and what kind of shorts rampage will wear to get ready for forrest

Funny comment….funny responses….
I had never noticed, but now you mention it, all I can ever remember GSP in, in most interviews or TV appearances is that grey suit lol
But doesn’t he still live at home with his mum, maybe she dresses him in the mornings?

Kevin, you’re negative on every thread. If it’s not because of how much publicity they’re getting it’s what kind of clothes they’re wearing. Next you’ll complain because someone is having too many fights in a year.
by Toms Bombs on Apr 17, 2008 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
not negative in every thread, but you sound like my wife, LOLO is that you??? lol, no man just noticed some negatives this week. Mccarthy and Mcdonald getting tons of press (good for them, gsp’s family now making excuses for him, Gsp saying his age affects his fights, his “friend” just to name a few. I think about positives too, Bisping destroying tupperware, Serra pulling out another upset in Canada, the celtics winning the NBA title and the red sox beating the yankees tonight

No I know. lol I’m just bustin’ your balls man.

I know buddy, now kiss them better for me??lol but seriously, I’ve never been so pumped (weak card + boredom from a month off of work= super excitement over mediocre card). I can’t wait for this to be over so I can get onto watching BJ kill Sherk!! and hopefully Tito throws a monkey wrench in it all by koing machida too. Add Silva/Jardine to the mix and you get a great card!

dMir is getting the next title shot

http://www.angrymarks.com/news/View.php?ArticleID=3540
Off topic, but who else is deserving of the shot?? IMO, mir and nog is a good matchup. BJJ cancels each other out, nog can take a punch, Nog by decision??
by kevin on Apr 17, 2008 11:23 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I would like to think Nog would pull off a submission, but Mir is great on the ground. Either way I still agree, Nog would win most likely.
by Toms Bombs on Apr 17, 2008 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I feel Nog has underrated standup. His boxing is very crisp; although Mir has made some strides in his standup also.
by Brandon on Apr 17, 2008 12:02 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t know about Mir’s conditioning. He has never fought 5 rounds before. In fact, he has only gone to a 3 round decision once in his career. And on top of that, every one of his fights has ended in the first round except for two that ending in the second round (one being his first ever pro fight).
So that means that in Mir’s career he has only gone past the first round 3 times!!!!! That is amazing actually. Big Nog has solid conditioning and can take a beating like no other. He has gone the distance with the best.
BIG ADVANTAGE to BIG NOG

Question, why is Charles McCarthy called tupperware? its pretty funny
by jayman on Apr 17, 2008 12:04 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
ViolentMike is responsible for that nick name..
A couple of months ago some of us on a Mccarthy thread were saying Mccarthy is a can. And VM said he is a step below a can..Then VM posted;
Tupperware = a step below a can..
Giving him the nickname Charles “Tupperware” Mccarthy..
And the name has stuck ever since…Too bad Tupperware will not be talked about after UFC83..I like calling him Tupperware…So lets hope Tupperware get the tup-set and wins..

even my wife…..my wife is the biggest fan…….my wife loves gsp…….
i get it, your wife likes gsp and you don’t, enough. you say it like its a big deal that a woman is a fan of the ufc.
by Bass on Apr 17, 2008 3:48 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
lol not just a fan, but was first woman to train under caesar gracie (10-12 years ago) went to BJ Penn’s first ever competition with him, and has probably forgotten more MMA than most of you new fans have ever known. That’s why it’s relevant, it’s not some girl who watches because you make her or so she’ll get attn.
by kevin on Apr 17, 2008 5:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think you may qualify for the first MMA fan to be a nuthugger of his own wife.
I bet if someone picked a fight with you she’d tell you to stand back and then choke them out and tell you “It’s ok, honey!”.
by DirtyML on Apr 17, 2008 6:18 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
thats my point, that woman know their sh*t. you make it sound that it is amazing that a woman is a fan.
whats with people and the “new” fans. just because they recently started watching in the last few years it makes them not “real” fans. come on. i’ve been watching ufc now for about a 3 years, i guess i would be considered a “new” fan, but i, consider myself a real fan, a diehard fan even. i mean if it wasn’t for the new fans the ufc would have folded years ago. plus, it was a lot harder to follow mma years ago, but now because of sites like this and tv deals it becomes easy.
i would have loved to be a huge fan of the originals but, i was 8 when they started, so it was kinda hard.

press conference was poor
i miss dana, normally it would of been rogan if he were there
feel sorry for the guy who had to fill in didnt seem to have the love of the sport in his voice that you feel when you hear rogan or dana speak and amps up the crowd
still way better than the joke press conferences the likes of elitexc hold
atleast ufc had a stage
