Danzig will be too slick for Bocek, think it will more than likely be a submission that TKO or KO.

have to agree with you on that one

by ToeLock on Apr 16, 2008 9:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think that Danzig will try to keep it standing at first going for a KO. He definately has the better standup. Bocek is really only known for his BJJ, but by no means does that mean that Mac can’t submit him. I would like to think that Bocek can escape an armbar or guillatine. But he may get GnP’d and give up his back and fall victim to a RnC.

But I believe Mac when he says that he wants a KO. He wants to make a statement!

by ViolentMike on Apr 16, 2008 11:50 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I dont think Mac has the skills to submit Bocek. On the ground in a BJJ battle the edge in skills goes to Bocek. They only way I see Mac winning is TKO or decision. I actually think Bocek has a really good chance to take this one.

by NorthStar on Apr 16, 2008 12:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I doubt he will get a KO win. I see Mac winning with a submission or a decision.

OFF TOPIC…

For all those who constantly preach about Houston Alexander, check this video of him fighting against Chuck Parmelee.

He gets taken down and mounted but, up against the ropes. So the ref asks them to take up the same position in the middle of the ring and Houston refuses, he starts bitching (Can’t really hear what he says) but basically wants to continue the fight standing, what a joker. They give him a count down to comply then he is disqualified..No wonder he has no ground game!!! He refuses to fight there!

LOL…the entire crowd starts chanting “PU-SSY PU-SSY”

http://www.mmalinker.com/index.php?mtype=sv&id=2831&name=Houston%20Alexander

by ToeLock on Apr 16, 2008 9:34 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

lol, funny stuff.
Houston is a joke..He doesn’t want any part of the ground, and he wont admit when he get’s KO’d(not even after watching film)..He will be fighting in the IFL any day now.

by Stagger-Lee on Apr 16, 2008 9:51 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not defending HA by any means, but he claimed that CP had grease all over his body.

by arodofiron on Apr 16, 2008 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That’s probably what he was complaining about in the ring then, but I don’t see that as a good enough excuse, I mean he looked happy to fight again if it was allowed to carry on standing. Besides, the only BJJ move that is easier to get when wet (Sorry it rhymed) is a rear naked choke. So not sure what he was worried about.

Ah well, quite funny either way…

LOL…to that loud ass woman screaming “Get dowwwn Houston”

by ToeLock on Apr 16, 2008 10:48 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think Houston might have been upset because the other guy held the ropes to get dominant position on him.

by PW on Apr 16, 2008 11:05 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Very possible, it just seems like regardless of what he was pissed about, the only way to man up was to get on his back in that situation and bite the bullet.

by ToeLock on Apr 16, 2008 11:38 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Parmallee was supposedly all greased up and they ref refused to wipe him down. Houston refused to continue the fight untill Parmalee was wiped down.

by ViolentMike on Apr 16, 2008 11:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I wouldn’t go back to laying on my back either against that greased up slob- thats what he’s complaining about.

by Brandon on Apr 16, 2008 5:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

damn… i never been so wrong about a fighter in my life. should’ve done the research before betting. i’m at a deficit since picking that clown. he’s definately off my radar now.

by kama kaze on Apr 16, 2008 5:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If the fight ends with a KO or TKO, I would think the winner would be Bocek. Mac’s stand-up is not that great, and im not saying Bocek has great stand-up, but it is probably better..Mac should just stick to the game plan..Take Bocek down and work and stick to JJ..No need to catch a KO loss because you tried to stand with a guy your probably already under estimating…
Danzig is probably just talking shit. He is smarter then that..
…Danzig winner via submission(imo)…but I will be routing for Bocek..

Mania….any reason I can’t add my post?

Keeps saying i have “already said that” but nothing shows in the thread?

I am very disapointed that Danzig is facing a chump of an opponent. Some TUF fighters need to be babied. Danzig is not one of them. He is a very seasoned veteran, who has had over 20 fights, winning most of them. Like Nate Diaz, he is ready to face top competition….No need to start him off at the bottom.

He was the KOTC lightweighgt champion and has even fought on the Big stage (Pride) against Mach Sakurai (who is as tough as they get), so I think he is ready to face someone higher up then Bocek…..

Very Disapointed at this Fight! I hope to see Nate Diaz vs. Danzig in the near future.

Unfortunately Manny “the Britsh Prostitute” has been running his mouth about Diaz and it seems to be getting to Nate. Nate answered back and said he is looking forward beating Manny and that he hates Manny and Karo. I hope Diaz’s hot head is going to cloud his judgment and cause him to accept a match against manny. IMO it would be a waste of time for Nate who is on another level right now defeating Pellegrino in highlite fashion. Fighting Manny would be a step down and I hope Diaz’s management stops that fight from ever happening. Diaz is riding high, and If I were him I would not waste my hot streak on a fight against manny!

by john on Apr 16, 2008 10:05 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It’s all about the management there i think…I can see Nate rising to the bait being a young guy, and he shouldn’t allow those 2 Russian’s to drag him down…Sorry I mean Armenian’s or whatever. However if Nick was still in the UFC…a Diaz brothers Vs the Armenian contingent would be a good fight night card!

by ToeLock on Apr 16, 2008 10:53 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It would be a great UFN event. brothers from Stockton vs. The Armenian Cousins from North Hollywood

The Battle pf CalafornIA!

by John on Apr 16, 2008 11:31 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Indeed…and we’d probably need a Spike TV special dedicated to all the smack talk coming from the lot of them in the build up to the event…there’d be hours of it lol

by ToeLock on Apr 16, 2008 11:36 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I also hope that Diaz’s management puts an end to all this Diaz vs. Gamburyan talk. Diaz has nothing to gain by fighting Manny again!

by John on Apr 16, 2008 11:32 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ABSOLUTELY JOHN. We’ve been saying for a while now whenever a “tuf poster” would say that Nate’s next fight should be against Manny. NO WAY. Not even a step down in competition, that is a couple of steps down.

Joe Stevenson was in a #1 contender fight and beat Kurt Pellegerino prior to losing to Penn. Pellegrino then beaten Alberto Crane and then fought Diaz. Pellegrino was one fight removed from a #1 contender fight, and won that fight in the middle. Nate just finished Kurt on the main card of UFN. Manny fought Jeff “I Suck” Cox on the undercard of UFN. Nate needs to lose a fight and Manny needs to keep on winning before a fight between these two can even begin to be considered!

Nate wants Tyson. But it seems Tyson doesn’t want Nate. Hmmmmm

by ViolentMike on Apr 16, 2008 11:58 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

VM: What worries me is that Nate is a hot head and if you keep calling him out, he is the kind of guy that says F it, lets throw Down. I would like to see some restraint from Diaz because if he signs on to fight Manny it would be a HUGE mistake for his career. I Hope his management does not allow him to fight Manny, that would be like wasting all the great wins he has had so far in the UFC

by john on Apr 16, 2008 4:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree, Manny is a big step down from who Nate should be fighting next. Someone along the lines of Griffin or Edgar or JLau would be a step in the right direction.

Glad to see “British Prostitute” is gaining wider acceptance as a more accurate nickname for Manny. :)

He is much prettier than some of the whores where I live!!

Props to you PW for that one. it really fits Manny!

by John on Apr 16, 2008 11:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

lol..i missed the “British Prostitute” thing…What’s that all about?

by ToeLock on Apr 16, 2008 11:31 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It’s a joke in reference to the stereotype that English women are lousy in the sack. I call Manny “British Prostitute” because he likes to get on top of people and move around just enough not to get stood back up but not enough to finish things. I’ve never dated an English chick (or bird), so if you could confirm or deny these reports, that would be great.

by PW on Apr 16, 2008 11:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Because he lies on top of his opponents like a dead fish

“because he likes to get on top of people and move around just enough not to get stood back up but not enough to finish things”……LOL…..funny as. Well I don’t beleive in stereo types personally. My way of thinking is that in every country you have the good, the bad and the ugly.

Mad props on “The British Postitute” nickname, I loved it since I first read it a long time ago and told you so!!!

I am also happy to see that my nickname for Charles McCarthy has stuck for the most part. Chainsaw is not appropriate. Everyone was saying that Bisping is fighting another can. Tupperware would be a step or two below a can, hence the fitting nickname, Charles “Tupperware” McCarthy.

If Bruce Buffer announces him as Charles “Tupperware” McCarthy during the PPV, you all got my back on trademark rights, right? LOL

by ViolentMike on Apr 16, 2008 12:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

LOL…I feel honoured to have been the man to ask…“What is a step below can” :)

Agreed, especially the part about Danzig vs Diaz.

by Toms Bombs on Apr 16, 2008 12:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well if the so called chump beats Danzig whats that gonna make him? Give the guy some credit. I am sure Bocek thinks he can win and I am sure Danzig doesnt think hes a chump. I see this being a very competitive fight. No walk through for Danzig.

by NorthStar on Apr 16, 2008 12:20 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yea.. Danzig should take this. He’s a serious fighter and up a level in experience over Bocek. From what I remember, he was actually hanging in there against Sakurai until he got KO’d by something weird. wasn’t it a spinning backfist or something? so i don’t really blame him for getting caught. bodog has him as minus 550 favorite. ill drop some change on that fight just don’t know how much yet. it depends on what the odds come out for in the maia fight. should be a sure bet if there is such a thing.

by kama kaze on Apr 16, 2008 5:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That Sakurai fight was an awesome fight. I cant say Danzig did very much offensively in that fight but I give him respect because he hung in there for a little and ate some strong punches and some of the nastiest leg kicks I have ever seen. He took a lot of punishment in that fight and was fighting through it until the KO.

Mache Sakurai is no Joke. Also, I think Mac was a little star struck and overwhelmed by the moment of finally making it to PRIDE, he kind of looked just happy to be there….I dont think he got to fight to his full potential, no shame in that though, I am sure it was a huge learning experience for him.

Props to Danzig though, this is why I am mad that he is fighting a c-level opponent like Bocek. I think, like Nate he is ready to hang with some of the top 10 UFC lightweights… How many fighters on TUF have the experience of fighting Mache Sakurai in PRIDE? Thats a big deal, for TUF level fighters and I truley believe that Danzig is ready to compete.

I would give him a good chance against guys like Spencer Fisher, Frankie Edgar.

He is going to TKO, or rear naked choke Bocek. You might say which one is it going to be, but I cant tell you that…Its a thin line between getting Ground n pound TKO’ed and getting rear naked choke, Both ways result from the same situation, it just depends on whether the guy getting pounded decides to give his back up or eat the punches. Thats why I feel rear naked chokes are kind of like TKO’s

by john on Apr 16, 2008 6:59 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yup thats true about the RNC TKO finish. Its all downhill after the mount. (Florian’s bread and butter) Danzig has all the traits of a guy I like to bet on though. The road that he traveled to get to the point where is now has been rough so you know each fight matters to him. For the most part he’d disciplined, plays it safe and grinds the other guy methodically, waiting for openings. He’s not even that superb of an athlete, but kind of just wills his way to win. Those aren’t really technical terms but kind of describes toughness of his experience that I like when I’m betting on fighters(like Fitch). And it helps that his opponent ain’t really all that.

Hey, off topic. Didn’t see it but, your boy Semmy Shiltz KTFO Hunt 1st round!! what the hell is up with that?!

That houston alexander video, he says the other guy is greased up. That’s serious shit when people hit the ground.

Re: I renamed Manny “British Prostitute” because of his tendency to get on top of his opponents and move around just enough to avoid getting stood back up but not enough to finish the job. Having never dated an English chick (or bird) I don’t really know if the stereotype of British women being lousy in the sack is true or ont, so if ToeLock or any of our other U.K. compatriots could shed some light on that, it would be most appreciated.
