MMA Quick Quote: Phil Baroni set to eat some Ninja sushi on May 31

"I've grown a lot over the years as a fighter and a person (and) my best years are yet to come. I'm still in this to be a world champion. I have a lot of fight left in me. Check me out on CBS May 31st when I will eat Ninja sushi for dinner. And all you motherfuckers from the east coast, especially New York, I better hear your asses loud that night. I'm finally coming home to support your friendly neighborhood bad ass and send this Little Ninja's ass back to Brazil in a body bag. Let's welcome his ass New York style baby."

-- Phil "The New York Badass" Baroni talks in an interview with MMARated.com about his upcoming fight with Murilo "Ninja" Rua during "Saturday Night Fights" on CBS on May 31. He talks about his steroid suspension, rematches with Frank Shamrock and Kala Hose, fighting in the UFC or Japan again, as well as his in depth analysis of Kimbo Slice as a fighter. It's a pretty hilarious interview -- check it out if you have time.

Isn’t it supposed to say Murilo “Ninja” Rua? You know, since his brother Mauricio “Shogun” Rua fights in the UFC

You mean Murilo.

This guy sucks. Overrated past his prime roid head. Isn’t this crap on like at 2:00 am or something?

Wait? Baroni is still alive? Someone would pay to watch him fight? Something is wrong with this world…

my money would be on baroni

lawler exploited ninjas standup
his cardio also looked suspect

baroni also has heavy hands and as long as he comes in in great shape it should be a war

LOL ROLLING on the floor @ “Are you happy with the way they have treated you thus far?” (knowing that he’s talking to a chick now).

Hilarious but hype aside, I don’t see him touching ninja on the ground. I’d like to see them fight after he comes off a win at least or have Nija fight Shammy first. Towards the end it sounded like he misses some of that home crowd advantage. I bet you that came from fighting Hose in Hawaii and the 3000 fans sounding like 10,000!! Shoot I’d root for Baroni on this one just cuz it would amuse me to see him cut some sushi!

Baroni simply cannot hang with ninja on the ground. Ninja just has to last past the first round of two without getting knocked out.

If only Baroni fought as well as he talks…

was it just me or did his train of thought spiral into a repetition of the word ass?

You know what…I’m from NY and I think its ridiculous that this trash talking simpleton thinks he represents all of us. He represents a select few people, all of which the world could do without. there’s a few loud-mouth attention hogs that come from here, and theyre the ones who bring on this stupid “NY Badass” stereotype. I personally hope ninja kicks him square in the jaw, so he has it wired shut, and we’re all blessed with what we truly deserve from Baroni…silence.

Baroni makes it so easy to really dislike him! I want to root for him but he’s such an a**hole! Phil, Get in shape for 5 rounds and show up for the fight this time, then if you win you can talk about being a champion, otherwise just keep your mouth shut!

Hes actually much less of an asshole than youd think Ray. It really gets taken out of context when just typed on the internet. He is actually really easy going and just tosses around trash talk and swear words without any real weight on them. Baroni is hilarious to listen to, and he had a surprising amount of keen insight on the topics during the last Inside MMA show.

Rua is going to put Baroni into retirement.

Ninja sushi for dinner huh?

More like Baroni baloni (a corn dog with a load of crap in it).

Ninja is good and he will finish this, it’ll not go to decision.

Philis Baloni should stop talking because he only has enough for the first round and this fight is three.

Go be bouncer at a New York night club!

Baroni doesn’t have alot of stamina to last 3 rounds. He always get worn out in 3rd round and deosn’t fight smart. Yeah I saw you on hdnet Inside MMA, you’re not taking this fight serious make it seems like it’s no big deal to worry and joking around about this bout. Looks like you’re getting ready to lose.

Baroni couldn’t even be the Disneyland Badass…this guy is a pathetic waste of good DNA

by BigPelly on Apr 13, 2008 9:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

baroni, i admit your tough shit. but do you think you can honestly beat rua? the man has a god given talent for destroying other people. While id say you have a talent at being abnxoious, buff, rude and as far as elite mma goes.. incapable

by beeracle on Apr 14, 2008 4:20 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

So disrespectful this guy. This is the only way he can sell tickets, by talking crap. Hope he gets his ass beaten into retirement and never come back. How can he say his best years are still infront of him? Hes been losing fights left, right and center. Hes never beaten a top fighter so where the hell does he get this idea that his best years are still infront of him? Hes a complete joke.

I’m really surprised they’re putting Baroni on the first CBS fight. This guy has diarrhea of the mouth.

If people are worried about Kimbo being the face of MMA, they should be terrified to see Baroni with a microphone on network television.

As far as the fight goes, it’s striker vs grappler. It will be interesting to see who can impose their game plan.

by TonyDrip on Apr 14, 2008 12:56 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You wonder with all of his emotional swings and funny statements if he’s juicing. He’s built like it, he gasses quickly, indicative of people with too much muscle not enough gas. And he think’s he the greatest “EVA”. All speculation, but either way Ninja should take him. If your gonna fight Baroni and you watch tape of him. If your a first rate fighter, with a gameplan, of course you would beat him. But Baroni is so over the line, you think he actually knows it and he does it for entertainment value. Ill give him this. He’s an exciting fighter.
