MMA Quick Quote: Ricardo Arona next fight could come soon
"I have some options to fight, but this time away was very important to me, getting some things right on my life too, but the important is that I really wanna fight and come back ready to the ring.... I was invited from events of both countries [Japan and the United States], but I'll fight where comes the better proposal. I'll think what's the best to me. Actually, I don't have anything in mind for now, some Japanese come, but there's nothing right yet."
-- Ricardo Arona talks to Tatame.com about the reasons behind his recent inactivity, which included "getting some things right" on his life, as well as his plans for the future and more. Nothing is certain at this point, but the Brazilian sounds as if he's ready to get back to competition some time soon in 2008. He has not seen action since a knockout loss to Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou at Pride 34: "Kamikaza" in April 2007. It was his third loss in four fights -- a tough stretch for a very talented fighter.

Yes..I would prefer a rematch with marquart as soon as possible. That last fight had so much controversy

This basically tells us NOTHING. I may fight in Japan, I may fight in America….Thanks for narrowing it down for us Arona….

Man I want this guy in the UFC!!…Still love that fight with him and Wanderlei at the Pride GP where he kicks Silva to the ground….(Similar to what GSP did to Hughes but more brutal)
Come on Arona….F*** Japan!
Anyone know if Dana has made this guy an offer since Pride went down?

In September of 2007 the UFC and Ricardo Arona were trying to negotiate a contract. I dont know where it went wrong, but obviously, the deal never got done.
But yes, the UFC has pursued Ricardo Arona.

Cool so there is a chance….He just needs to be not too greedy, the LHW division as we all know is stacked so I can’t see him holding the cards in any negotiations with the UFC..Weather Dana thinks this guy will be an automatic player in the division or not shouldn’t matter, I think they can market this guy even if solely on the basis he has a win over Wandi…
Cheers VM

I think arona is tailor made for the ufc rules i mean real good wrestling really good jiu jitsu and he never really did much work with the kicks on the ground outside of the rampage fight. And if you add in elbows with his top control i feel bad for the majority of light heavyweights

He’s probably still “gettign things right” from that slam via KO.

finally, I hope he comes to the UFC too, although I don’t think the majority of americans will like his game (his nick name in Brazil is amarrona which means tier) but I like his technical game a lot.

Just yesterday sherdog released that Fedor will be facing Tim Sylvia over the summer. DreamFighters.com has learned through some sources, and also on the Savage Dog Show, that they have added some fights to the fight card. Here are the rumored bouts:
Tim Sylvia Vs. Fedor
Andrei Arlovski Vs. Ben Rothwell
Babalu Vs. Mike Whitehead
Pedro Rizzo Vs. Josh Barnett
Alexander Emelienenko vs. TBA
These are however rumors, and from limited sources, but we will bring you confirmation once it happens.

if true i think this is a great card and could actually rival a ufc ppv or maybee surpass it. i just hope that they put this on ppv or find a way for the people who cant get hd-net on their cable provider to pay to watch it on their web-site. i think a.a. would maul ben and set up the true fight of the century, fedor vs andrei!

I hope Arona signs with the UFC like previous comments his style is tailored made for the Ocatagon, you think Tito can ground and pound..he has nothing on him as a ground guy..I guess will see how it all works out for him..he’s one of my favorite fighters..Wanderlei/Arona III would be nice..
