Team Tanner shirt now available for summer fight

Props: EvanTanner.net
(Former middleweight champion Evan Tanner supports his training through donations from fans -- not major corporate sponsors. He's rumored to be fighting Kendall Grove at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 Finale on June 21 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Help a brother out ... buy some gear. Thanks to FiveOuncesOfPain.com for the assist.)

Yeah, I heard you could trade a 40 0z. Schlitz Malt Liquor for one. Or was that King Cobra?

the man was no saint, but that’s incredibly disrepectful, i know of few men ever as honorable as evan tanner

Yeah… after he came out and said he blew all his money on gambling after his last fight, there’s no way I’d support this guy. He’s a good fighter, and has a cool personality, but he’s just a waste.

I think it was just $300. Cut the guy some slack.

I really like evan. He just seems like a good guy. I dont really care how his career is going. I wil prolly buy a shirt though to support him as a fighter

Have we ever looked into why corporate sponsors don’t sponser this guy? Is it because he doesn’t want them to or is it because they don’t want to go near him and so he must resort to the fans?
It’s just tough for me to think that a guy in such desperate need for cash wouldn’t go for sponsorships. I think they want nothing to do with Tanner. Hopefully I’m wrong though and someone can correct me on this.

Good point. Sponsors, even ones that are exclusively MMA-related, probably don’t want to touch him. Nonetheless, I would give a 12-pack of Bud Light for one of his T-shirts.

Is everyone missing the BIG potential here??
Evan Tanner…the new face of Bud Light…Win Win for Bud
They get a UFC fighting alcoholic!! Perfect!

Meehh… Just saw the back of the shirt, I hate that it has “Team Tanner” in HUGE letters across the back. A bit smaller, and would’ve considered buying.
Sorry Evan, fan sponsorship can’t be entirely about you, man.

I was under the impression that Tanner was approaching sponsorship with an offer to the fans to sponsor him through a number of different sponsorship packages along with some incentives of sitting octagon side, etc. It seemed to me like it was his choice to go about it this way. He definitely carves his own path – can’t say that’s a bad thing.

the world will be a better place when vaguely “tribal” scripts and designs are no more.

its good to see him back on the grind trying to make money. i’d buy one if i was one of those guys that always say: WAR TANNER!! you know who you are.

LOLOLOLOL
I can’t stand when people type WAR (anything), especially when its their entire post.

Completely agree. Jim Rome is a wannabe hipster douche.

I just bought mine. I’ve been a Tanner fan for a LONG time, and if he drinks away the money I couldn’t care less!
Anyone who’s willing to come back after that long a break and face the #1 contender in Okami has balls. Plus I really like the way he’s going after sponsor dollars. If he gets no money then he knows that no one wants to see him fight. If he gets money then he know he’s still a fan favorite.

“Believe in the power of one”? Isn’t that the Army’s slogan?

the reason why he ran out of money is because with the money the UFC gave him for his first fight and the signing bonus the guy paid off alot of shit he owed and im guessing was left with a few hundred bucks and decided to give vegas a try, at least he didnot spend it on alcohol… now if his next paycheck after Grove fight he doesnt have shit left over then critisize him…

that’s a nice shirt. I would pay $20 for it. I once wanted an affliction GSP tshirt, until i saw the prices being around $40.

Yeah it’s expensive, but I wouldn’t mind helping Tanner out. He’s a cool guy.

Evan was complex man. He was very particular about his sponsors. He turned his life around and was awesome to his fans. I want to remember him that way. I understood prior to his death a child’s last living wish was to meet Evan. He was going to honor this request.
I love the shirt. It is so comfortable and I received compliments from people who didn’t even know Evan.
