MMA Quick Quote: Jake Shields vs. Drew Fickett EliteXC fight rescheduled for June 14

"I had to pull out of the March 29 fight due to a back injury. I just wanted to apologize to EliteXC, Drew Fickett and of course the fans. Pulling out of this fight is not something I wanted to do, but I'll be back stronger. It's just a minor setback and I'll be taking the title soon. Thanks to to everyone for all of the support."
-- EliteXC welterweight contender Jake Shields -- one of the best 170-pound fighters on the planet -- shares his thoughts via his MySpace on withdrawing from the vacant title fight with Drew Fickett last Saturday. Fickett went on to beat the replacement -- Jae Suk Lim -- in pretty dominating fashion. Afterwards, Shields was called to the ring and it was announced that the two would finally get it on for the belt June 14 in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the Blaisdell Arena. EliteXC Lightweight Champion KJ Noons is also set to defend his EliteXC lightweight belt against Yves Edwards that night.

Shields is going to beat Fickett down and I can’t wait to see it. I really can’t stand Fickett, in and out of the ring.

Shields last two or three fights have all been overwhelming and very exciting performances. Please do not bash fighters, it looks petty and childish.
Fickett is not boring at all either, his last fight was great and his post-pre fight antics were entertaining as well.
Fireworks for this one for sure.
I think it’s a great matchup.

what else can you add to his game (smacktalk or a nickname maybe)? He can throw down(including kicks & footwork), tap MFers out, sick GNP. He’s smart, has no problem killing his opponent, and yet shows respect in the true spirit of martial arts. He’s a $ure bet(despite the odds) and entertaining to watch, ends his fights quickly. Give him Anderson Silva!!… ya heard?!

Fickett is going to tap Shields out.
Shields is overhyped, he hasn’t fought anyone elite yet. Fickett has a sick ground game and will overpower Shields.
WAR FICKETT!!! Tucson, AZ!

I like the Noons-Edwards fight. Yves has always been one of my favorite lightweights, for the obvious sick boxing and jujitsu talents he has. Only problem is… he has been out of the light for a while, and trains now with atleast one cancer (Guillard.)
